• How to call a jquery function from an action method in controller?

  I have a requirement to open a popup from an action method in controller. The action method is basically registering a user. • Slow server response time - CakePHP

  I am using CakePHP 1.2 for building a website. The problem i am facing is when ever a page loads it takes a lot of time in "waiting for www.example.com". The server response time is very slow. First i thot it was my database queries, but they were executing in less than seconds time. Next i also contacted the server people. They told it was not the server. Now i am stuck very badly with "waiting for www.example.com". Is the problem is in coding or the cakePHP is mis configured. Need help badly and fast. Thanks

• Java Socket - how to catch Exception of BufferedReader.readline()

  I have a Thread (let's say T1) which reads data from socket: public void run() { while (running) { try { BufferedReader reader = new BufferedReader( new InputStreamReader(socket.getInputStream()) ); String input = reader.readLine(); } catch (IOException e) { e.printStackTrace(); } } } Another Thread (lets say T2) try to finish the program in one of its method. Therefore T2 does the following: T1.running = false; socket.close(); Here is this scenario for which i couldn't find a solution: T1 is active and waiting for some input to read i.e. blocking. context switching T2 is active and sets running to false, closes the socket context switching because T1 was blocking and T2 closed the socket, T1 throws an Exception. What i want is to catch this SocketException. i can't put a try/catch(SocketException) in T1.run(). So how can i catch it in T1's running-method? If it's not possible to catch it in T1's running, then how can i catch it elsewhere? PS: "Another question about the Thread Debugging" Normally when i debug the code step by step, i lose the 'active running line' on a context switch. Let's say i'm in line 20 of T1, context switch happens, let's assume the program continues from the 30.line of T2, but the debugger does not go/show to the 30.line of T2, instead the 'active running line' vanishes. So i lose the control over the code. I use Eclipse for Java and Visual Studio for C#. So what is the best way to track the code while debugging on a context switch ?

• MySQL search help.

  Hi, I am using php/mysql for a search. My table is 'height' and data type = varchar(10) which contains value like (5ft 2in, 5ft 3in,...and so on). While searching I got 2 values - height1 and height2 which are basically the ranges. How can i search in that table with the ranges? say - i will give ranges 5ft 1in to 5ft 10in and want to get the data between those values. I am using php. Please help me about this. thanks.

To create balloon effect, i am using customize view and using geopoints with MapView.LayoutParams to display it at particular location. overlayitem's icon and baloon both having same geopoint thats why they both are overriding eatch other.   I have 2 movie clips in my scene, one is charlie brown running and another is lucy lifting a football. The movie clip instances are aptly named: lucyLifting and charlieRunning. When I get to frame 75, I run the following code: stop(); trace(lucyLifting); trace(charlieRunning); lucyLifing.stop(); charlieRunning.stop(); and I get the following output: [object MovieClip] null Why isn't it recognizing my second movie clip instance?   I have the following table which is basically the summary of daily transactions and is loaded nightly. +++++++++++++++++++++++ + DateCreated + Sale + +++++++++++++++++++++++ + 20100101 + 1000 + + 20100131 + 2000 + + 20100210 + 2000 + + 20100331 + 4000 + +++++++++++++++++++++++ I need to display the sale by month, but only for the last day in each month. eg JAN 2000 FEB 0 MAR 4000 I could probably accomplish this with CASE in my select, but is this efficient? This is SQL Server 2000.
