    I have searched a lot and implemented many many Regular Expression in my .htaccess file but can not succeed. How do I find a generic way that make my URL SEO friendly? Currently this is in my .htaccess file: RewriteEngine On RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.php?page=$1 [L,QSA] What I need to do is that I have a URL like this: http://localhost/abc/index.php?page=boats_for_sale I need to change it to http://localhost/abc/boats_for_sale Similarly, I want to hide all query strings in my URL. How would I achieve it?

  • No C++ option after install Eclipse CDT

    I used terminal to install eclipse with jdk7, and now I want incorporate c/c++ development, so I installed a compiler (gcc 4.7) and and eclipse cdt plugin from the terminal: sudo apt-get install eclipse-cdt But when I restarted eclipse and tried to change the perspective, there was no c++ option I cannot even create a new c++ project. Someone suggested that I do "Install New Software" and choose the cdt from the hard drive. If this is what I should do, where does terminal install its files to?

    I am fairly new to ubuntu, well i am using ubuntu 12.04 for a few months and i am getting the hang of it. Well I had windows on my machine but the one time i tried installing kubuntu 12.04 i messed up the whole computer and it wouldn´t boot up anymore, so I installed ubuntu 12.04 from a usb drive and it worked now i need windows for my school work so I wanted to ask if I can install Windows 7 without deleting ubuntu 12.04 and how do I install it?     I’m using ASP.NET MVC in C# and jQuery as well as Ajax. A lot of other web technologies confuse me: PHP, Python, Ruby, Java (or C++) etc. What is your opinion about ASP.NET MVC? Should I choose something else? Today, everyone says, “PHP” is worldly used language..!! And that’s true!!! I’m confused, much confused about my future career. I’m worried I’m not going in right direction! Or for making my future brighter, whether I should choose something else other than ASP.NET MVC and C#. And what would that something else be? I want to be a web developer that can do everything with web (and for web). I’m worried if I’m wasting my time with ASP.NET MVC!!!

In simple words I have an idea that needs combination of two ideas plus something from my own. Can I claim this idea to be an intellectual property of mine so that no one else attempts to do it while I am doing the project?If Anybody does it after my project, will he need a license from me?

  • Consoles in Ubuntu and automatic upgrade

    So I recently discovered that ubuntu is simultaneously running 6 consoles in addition to the GUI that everybody uses, which can be accessed by pressing Ctrl+Alt+F1 ... +F6 and then the default GUI with Ctrl+Alt+F7. What use can these consoles have when I can just open a terminal in the GUI mode? Also, why is having consoles like this advantageous for computer users; wouldn't a GUI be much more simplistic? Also, running the console told me that I was running a development version of Ubuntu Quantal which is version 12.10. The login screen (correctly?) says that I'm running 12.04 LTS. What does that mean? Thanks everybody!

    In this program the user enters the # of columns of the matrix and then the entries of the matrix. So, for example, if the user enters 2 for column # and 1 2 3 4 for entries then the program develops a 2 by 2 matrix with 1 2 3 4 as entries. My program works perfectly in such a case. However, if the user for example had only entered 1 2 3 then my program makes a matrix with garbage values. I would like the program in such a case to exit the program.   • Where do I get the source code to customize Unity?

    So one of the main reasons I migrated to Ubuntu 12.04 from Windows 7 was to be able to have more control over my system due to the flexibility and customizability of a Linux operating system. However, with Ubuntu I do not feel as if I am as in control as I can be. What I mean to say is, where are the source codes and everything for all of this that I can edit on my machine. For example, suppose I want to position my dock on the left to be on the right without wanting to install any new software. I simply want to see the GUI files and reposition it myself. How can I do that, if that's even possible? Thank You!

  • Git + GitHub + Heroku

    Hi All, I am new to the world of Git, GitHub and Heroku. So far, I am enjoying this paradigm but coming from a background with SVN, things seems a bit complicated to me in the world of Git. I am facing a problem for which I am looking for a solution. Scenario: I have setup a new private project on GitHub. I forked the private project and now I have the following structure in my branch: /project /apps /my-apps /my-app-1 .... /my-app-2 .... /your-apps /your-app-1 .... /your-app-2 .... /plugins .... I can commit the code in my Fork on GitHub from my machine in any of the folders I want. Later on, these would be pulled into the master repository by the admin of the project. For every individual application in the apps folder, I have setup an app on Heroku which is a Git Repo in itself where I push my changes when I am done with the user stories from my local machine. In short, every app in the apps folder is a Rails App hosted on Heroku. Problem: What I want is that when I push my changes into Heroku, they can be committed into my project fork on GitHub as well, so, it also has the latest code all the time. The issue I see is that the code on Heroku is a Git Repo while the folders which I have on GitHub are part of a Repo. So far, what I have researched is that there is something known as Submodule in the Git World which can come to the rescue, however, I have not been able to find some newbie instructions.   • Could not Upload file in network mapped drive using asp.net/vb.net

    I have tried several times to upload file remotely to a mapped network drive, but it is raising an exception: Could not find a part of the path 'X:\test\testing.wav'. I read through various internet /blog/ Microsoft help sites, but I still don't know what is wrong. Does anyone know what is causing this problem and how I can correct it? It works fine when I am uploading to a local drive as a test. It is also working When I am running the code from the development server, but if I try with published code, then it fails. :(

  • Multicast accross the subnets

    My application sends some UDP packets on a multicast address. In our office we have 3 subnets connected via routers. Sitting in my subnet I'm able to ping the IP of the other subnet. Will multicast packets cross my subnet and reach the machines of other subnets? Or router will need some configuration? Or do I have to program a bridge for it? Please note that I do not know anything about Networking. Kindly tell me something that I can ask my network admin to do.

  • Why screen freezes in Windows 7 and Vista?

    On Windows 7 and Vista I use auto-hide task bar and turn off graphic card after 1-2 minutes. When I want to use my desktop again screen freezes sometimes for 10 seconds. What I do does not effect anything immediately but cursor moves. For example if I click Firefox bookmark it opens when screen unfreezes. This happens at any of my computers and about a month after new installation. I don't think that problem is related with the drivers.

  • My Portable Hard Drive with USB3 didn't work when connected to My Laptop, but it working with USB2 properly

    I have Western Digital My Passport Essential Portable Hard Drive with USB3 and Model:WDBACY5000ABK-EESN. Until about two or three months ago when I connected that to My Laptop USB3 port, that worked very well. But now when I'm connecting that to My device, The system does not detect any Hard Drives. When plug in the USB2 port is working properly. I connected that to another Laptop whit USB3 port but I had the same problem. I tested My Laptop port with a Flash Memory by USB3 and ports were healthy and I'm sure they are working. For this issue, I changed the windows, but it still did not work. What can I do?   • Active X Control issue on Terminal Server 2003

    I have a security camera system which can be viewed remotely via a web browser. It works excellent only with IE 6 and up and requires an ActiveX control "ERViewer.ocx". Some users require to view the cameras via Windows Terminal Server, but when they try to open the link to the DVR they get the prompt ti install the ActiveX and then the browser crashes when they try to install it. I logged in as admin and got the same issue. I called the tech support of the DVR but they have no idea, in other words, the usual useless tech support. Here is what I get in the error log Faulting application iexplore.exe, version 7.0.6000.16735, faulting module ERViewer.ocx, version 1.6.0.8, fault address 0x000064d7. I am sure it could be some kinda permission getting an ocx to run in IE. What else can I tweak?

  • Upgrading my home network to Gigabit Ethernet and Wireless-N turns out slower than before

    My home network has three desktops, three laptops and some NAS drives. All desktops and NAS drives support Gigabit LAN and all laptops support Wireless-N. I was running a 100 BaseT switch though. I recently purchased a Gigabit Ethernet Switch and an Wireless-N ADSL Modem-Router. After upgrading, I noticed that the wireless file transfer speeds from laptop-to-NAS and vice versa became terribly slow. Possibly even slower than before the upgrade. The transfer speeds from desktop-to-NAS (wired) have improved though. As an example, copying a 50GB file from laptop-to-NAS was estimated at 15 hours! Is there something I can do to improve this? Also, should I consider buying a dedicated wireless access point for speed rather than using the Wireless modem-router?

  • Win 7 client print spooler service keeps stopping

    I have a Windows 7 (32 bit) client where it's print spooler keeps stoppong a few seconds after I restart it. The event log doesn't provide any clear error, "The print spooler service stopped unexpectedly...it did this x times". I can seem to find any information on this. T tried un-installing whatever print driver was there...same thing. Any other ideas?
