  • pfsense log file retention

    We have a pfSense firewall in our datacentre. By default, pfSense is only storing 500K of firewall filter logs, which is only a few hours for us. How can I increase this? pfSense uses clog rather than the usual BSD newsyslog. I only want the log for debugging firewall rules, not compliance or anything, and the firewall has 100GB of spare disk space, so I'd rather have the logs on the firewall itself than set up a syslog server.

  • Problem deploying GWT application on apache and tomcat using mod_jk

    I'm trying to deploy a GWT app on Apache using mod_jk connector. I have compiled the application and tested it on tomcat on the address localhost:8080/loginapp and it works ok.   • Hyper-V shutdown/start up host causing issues in VMs

    I have a single physical host, running 2008 R2 with Hyper-V, all fully updated. On that host I am running 3 clients, a DC, a web server and a SQL Server 2008 R2 SP1. All are running on Windows Server 2008 R2, again all fully patched. Generally all is fine, but sometimes and not repeatably, when I shutdown the host properly, which suspends the Clients, when it all comes up again, SQL Server is no longer running and the IIS App Pool I am running the website in needs to be told which account to run in again! Any ideas!?

I've investigated the following: Backblaze - no WS support, sales say they have a "no server" policy JungleDisk - not flat rate Mozy - no WS on regular edition, no flat-rate on Pro edition Dropbox - no flat rate Carbonite - technically flat rate, but throttles uploads to modem speeds EDIT: Very similar question: Is there a decent flat-rate online backup solution for Linux machines?

  • Restoring a Windows 7 backup onto Server 2008 R2

    I have recently moved my main machine from Windows 7 to Server 2008 R2. Just before I did the install, I used the Windows Backup facility to create a backup on a file share. I am now using the Server Backup facility in 2008 R2 to restore this and it is not working. When I use another Win7 machine, I point the restore program at the folder containing the backup fileset and it lets me look through them. In R2, I point it at the same folder and it tells me that "The specified remote share does not contain any backup." I naively assumed that the two systems would be compatible, is this not the case? Is there anyway to get that data back again?

  • Windows 7, connecting to Samba shares

    How can I connect to a Samba share with authentication using Windows 7? We have a bunch of Linux, HP-UX and AIX servers on our network with folders shared using Samba. These are not connected to our Active Directory or anything, we just type a user name and password when we connect to them. They still all work fine from Windows XP, but we've upgraded a couple of machines to Windows 7 and they can't access the shares. You get prompted for a password but it says "The specified network password is incorrect" (it's not).

  • Remap control key in gnome-terminal?

    I just installed Ubuntu to get more familiar with it since I'll be using it in a new job shortly. I use Macs at home and in my current job, so I'd like to make it as Mac-like as possible. I've remapped the command and control characters using the following .xmodmap: remove control = Control_L Control_R remove mod4 = Super_L Super_R add control = Super_L Super_R add mod4 = Control_L Control_R Which works great for everything except the terminal, since Ctrl-C is now mapped to CMD-C, and still conflicts with what I'd like to use to copy. Is there any way I can remap the Control key just for the terminal? I'm willing to consider gnome-terminal alternatives if required.

    I recently installed Ubuntu through Wubi and I love it enough I am ready to ditch windows! My set up is like this. Drive 1: 80 gig ssd Win7 Drive 2: 320 gig hdd Ubuntu (installed through wubi) Drive 3: 1000 TB NTFS media drive What I want to do is move the Ubuntu install from the 320 gig hard drive to my ssd and totally get rid of Windows.     I am trying to import a KPI from Analysis Services into a PerformancePoint Scorecard, and when I do, The Dashboard Designer throws an error: An unknown error has occurred. If the problem persists contact an administrator. There may be additional information in the server application event log. When I examine the event log, I find the following exception: System.IO.FileNotFoundException: Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.AnalysisServices, Version=9.0.242.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=89845dcd8080cc91' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified. File name: 'Microsoft.AnalysisServices, Version=9.0.242.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=89845dcd8080cc91' at Microsoft.PerformancePoint.Scorecards.Server.ImportExportHelper.GetImportableAsKpis(IBpm pmService, DataSource asDataSource) at Microsoft.PerformancePoint.Scorecards.Server.PmServer.GetImportableAsKpis(DataSource dataSource) I have found this thread which recommends reinstalling Microsoft ADOMD.NET but the installer for that won't run because the server already has a newer version of the product (The server is running SQL Server Analysis Services 2008 which includes Microsoft.AnalysisServices.AdomdClient.dll version 9.0.3042.0) Anyone have any ideas (short of finding the DLL myself and manually installing it to the GAC)?

  • Ajaxing a link in a table

    I have a table of results in an ASP.Net MVC page where the last column is an View Details link. I want to have the user click the View Details link and an AJAX method be called to open the results in floating dialog. What I am struggling with is how to link the AJAX call to the link in the results table. I was using a link which embedded the ~/ControllerName/ViewDetails/InstanceId link directly in it. Clicking it took the user to a new page and it is this behaviour I want to replace with an AJAX call and a dialog window. Now I want to attach a jQuery handler to the link to trigger the AJAX call and I can't see how to do this other than write an jQuery handler for each row in the results table. There must be a way to mark the link as an ViewDetails link (using a class?) and attach the jQuery click handler to all instances of type class ViewDetails.
