  I know how to view somebody else's calendar - there are 100 walk-throughs like this one on Google. However, this feature has changed in Outlook 2010, and you no longer get prompted for rights to view another person's calendar, and Outlook just displays their "Free/Busy" information, which doesn't help me. I'd like to request permissions to view the details of their appointments, but I can't find any place to request permissions on their calendar - Outlook 2010 just gives me "Free/Busy" rights and then appears to have no option to request additional rights. Can anybody point me in the right direction?

• In an Excel calendar, how can I create a calendar event for a date based on an entry for another date?

  Sounds a bit confusing, doesn't it? I've created an 'events calendar' in Excel for my local area. Each date throughout the year is assigned to a row. What I want to do is, when I enter an event for a particular date, then automatically create an entry elsewhere in the calendar for an action to be taken. So for example, There's an event on the 30th July, so I enter it into the calendar. I'd like to be able to specify that an entry should be made 4 weeks earlier, on the 2nd July, to tell me to blog, tweet or whatever about that particular event. Can Excel help me to do that and if so, what do I need to do?

• Google calendar sync has stopped working

  I set up Google Calendar to sync with Lightning in Thunderbird. It has worked well for the last few weeks. It has now suddenly stopped working. I have checked the CalDAV addresses and they are all still ok. I do not know if my recent addition of syncing my new Android phone with the Google Calendar has anything to do with it, or just a coincidence. When Thunderbird tries to sync, it asks for the username and password. I enter these for the Google Calendar, and end up in a continuous circle.

I already have access to both the Google and Exchange calendars on my Android phone, but the size of the screen makes it rather difficult to plan anything serious. • Split or individually edit repeating Google Calendar events

  Our company just moved from Microsoft Exchange with Outlook to Google Mail, Calendar, etc. and I am trying to modify a calendar event where it repeats, but the times across the days are not the same. I created an event from 10h00 to 16h30 and made it repeat for two days. Now the times need to be adjusted independently for the two days. I could just cancel the repeat and book a new appointment for the second day but the event has a confirmed room booking and with rooms at a premium I worry that someone else may grab the room before I can create the new second day event. Outlook had a way to modify repeating events individually but I'm not seeing anything like that in the Google Calendar web client. So my question is whether there is a way to individually edit repeating events, or failing that, to split the repeating event into individual ones?

  How can I synchronise my desktop Outlook calendar with my Google Calendar (Outlook - Google)? I saw the question Free tool for Synchronizing Google Contacts and Calendar with Outlook, but the solution that was suggested there is no longer available - Google Sync End of Life. There are tools that required a payment, like SyncMyCal, gSyncit and OggSync, but I am looking for a free / open source solution. One can download Google sync, but when trying to use it there's an error: For now, I use OggSync to synchronise, but as a freeware it allows to synchronise manually only, not automatically, so I have to remember to synchronise after every change. I checked Mozilla Sunbird, but I couldn't find any relative posts on how to synchronise Outlook - Google using it. Just to be clear: I'm not looking for software; I am looking for a solution. What can I do if sometimes software is a solution?

  I am using Google Calendar as a storage engine for a calendar system I am building, however, I am using a single Google user account with multiple calendars, i.e. each user on my system has their own calendar within the one user account. I'm able to create a calendar per user just fine, but I would like to have FullCalendar retrieve the events for display purposes, without manually getting the magic cookie url from Google Calendar settings. • Two "Calendar" entries listed on iPad - can't write to calendar using EventKit

  My iOS app integrates with the device's calendar. On my iPad when I view the calendar app and tap the Calendars button on the top left to choose which calendars to show I see one entry named "Calendar". In my app when I loop through available calendars per the code below "Calendar" is listed twice. One is CalDAV for the type, the other is Local. I'm unable to create calendar entries in one of them, I believe the "Local" one, not sure why.   On my mailbox server, I am receiving the alert: MSExchange Calendar Attendant\Requests Failed Or in Solarwinds Requests Failed (Calendar Attendant) for Exchange 2010 Mailbox Role Counters (Advanced) on *servername* All I know is this figure should be 0 at all times. Currently I am at 2 and this is the only alert on the Exchange servers. No where I can find how to resolve this. How can I fix this? thank you

• How to show declined meeting on Outlook calendar

  I declined a recurring meeting invitation in Outlook 2007 to let the organizer know I am unable to attend, which will be true most of the time. But there will be rare occasions when I could attend so I would like to have this declined meeting show up on my calendar. Currently, it is sitting in my Deleted Items folder and I find no way to move/copy/transfer it to the calendar.   This computer came to my shop for just a simple Windows tuneup, so after doing all my tweaks, I noticed I was getting an error when trying to synchronize with the time server. It wasn't until I was about to give up that I noticed in the calendar that it's one weekday late. Here's a screenshot. As you can see, the day today, Friday - January 7th is a Thursday in the calendar. How is this possible?

• Thunderbird/Firefox with shared profiles (Lubuntu+WinXP)

  I use Thunderbird and Firefox both on WinXP and Lubuntu 11.10. The profile folders are on the NTFS-partition of Windows and I'm sure that I've edited the profile paths correctly. Windows doesn't show any problems but Lubuntu shows the error dialog saying that another instance of Thunderbird/Firefox is already running..." The funny thing is, that as soon as I've opened the profile folders in my explorer, firefox and thunderbird can be started. I don't have to change any files or something (Have made some experiments with .parentlock) Do you have an idea how I could solve this problem, as I don't want to open the profile folders after every reboot. • Moving large amounts of data between shared hosts

  I recently acquired a client who is a photographer and was interested in moving web hosts since his current host had threatened to throw him off due to CPU spiking. The migration went fairly easily, with about 350MBs of website and media files. Then I discovered about 60GBs of client galleries he had failed to mention. I am unable to move this much data myself, since I'm capping out at about 20kb/s on the FTP connection. Has anyone encountered a situation where they needed to migrate this much data between cheap hosting? Should we contact the hosting companies about this (he is moving from Westhost to MediaTemple)?

• Application trying to use the wrong shared library

  I'm having a problem with a program (quartus) running on my ubuntu machine. I'm getting the following error. quartus: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libXi.so: undefined symbol: XESetWireToEventCookie I have the correct libXi.so.6.0.0 file but no matter where I put it, the OS won't use it unless I apt-get remove libxi-dev, but a lot of software uses this libXi. What I want to do is add some sort of exception to the dynamic linker so that quartus uses the libXi.so that it needs and everything else still uses the one in /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu. Thanks!

  I am currently administrating two servers: first one has no control panel, I am creating directory structure, setting permission, configuring different aspects (users/php-fpm pools, nginx hosts..) for each of sites. With more clients, I sat up ISPConfig on my second server, everything is easily handled by ISPConfig Web Interface. However, I am searching for a CLI based solution, i.e. a set of scripts to create and manage hosts. Basically, a method to control ISPConfig from the command line (so I can use it over SSH) would be a good start. Does anybody know of such effort? I searched but all I got was web based solutions. • Outlook style events calendar for project based on MVC framework

  I need large Calendar (not jQuery datepicker) with possibility to schedule events and show them on calendar. Calendar must support month/week/day views. It is very desirable for Calendar not to reload whole page when view changes (AJAX refresh). It must be easily customizable (CSS themes) and localizable. It should support drag & drop (for scheduled events). Such Calendar must be rendered on client side from JSON data snippet. I know there are too many requirements to find Calendar that matches them all but all they are important. I have found some free open source Calendar controls, but almost all are tightly tuned for ASP.NET but not MVC or have very "heavy" JavaScript codebase. Ideally i see it as jQuery extension but not server side ASP.NET control. The best ready-to-use solution I have found is FullCalendar by Adam Shaw (http://arshaw.com/fullcalendar/). It is jQuery plugin which source code I can change to fit my needs. If you can suggest some better existing solutions I'll be very appreciative.
