  • Adding custom UITableViewCell crashes the simulator.

    - by nevva
    Im trying to build my application using a custom UITableViewCell. This is the code in my UIViewController that adds the viewCell to the table: - (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { NSLog(@"------- Tableview --------"); static NSString *MyIdentifier = @"MyIdentifier"; MyIdentifier = @"aCellIdentifier"; MyTableCell *cell = (MyTableCell *)[tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:MyIdentifier]; if(cell == nil) { NSArray *[[NSBundle mainBundle] loadNibNamed:@"tblCellView" owner:self options:nil]; cell = tblCell; } [cell setLabelText:[NSString stringWithFormat:@"indexpath.row: %d", indexPath.row]]; //cell = [[[UITableViewCell alloc] initWithStyle:UITableViewCellStyleSubtitle reuseIdentifier:MyIdentifier] autorelease]; return cell; } if i uncomment the line above "return cell" it returns a regular UITableViewCell without any errors, but as soon as i try to implement my custom cell it crashes with this error: ------- Tableview -------- 2010-04-23 11:17:33.163 SogetGolf[26935:40b] * Assertion failure in -[UITableView _createPreparedCellForGlobalRow:withIndexPath:], /SourceCache/UIKit_Sim/UIKit-984.38/UITableView.m:4709 2010-04-23 11:17:33.164 SogetGolf[26935:40b] * Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInternalInconsistencyException', reason: 'UITableView dataSource must return a cell from tableView:cellForRowAtIndexPath:' 2010-04-23 11:17:33.165 SogetGolf[26935:40b] Stack: ( ... I have configured the .xib file as one should with the proper outlets. And the identifier of the UITableViewCell corresponds with name im trying to load from NSBundle

  • Why does this code sample produce a memory leak?

    - by citronas
    In the university we were given the following code sample and we were being told, that there is a memory leak when running this code. The sample should demonstrate that this is a situation where the garbage collector can't work. As far as my object oriented programming goes, the only codeline able to create a memory leak would be items=Arrays.copyOf(items,2 * size+1); The documentation says, that the elements are copied. Does that mean the reference is copied (and therefore another entry on the heap is created) or the object itself is being copied? As far as I know, Object and therefore Object[] are implemented as a reference type. So assigning a new value to 'items' would allow the garbage collector to find that the old 'item' is no longer referenced and can therefore be collected. In my eyes, this the codesample does not produce a memory leak. Could somebody prove me wrong? =) import java.util.Arrays; public class Foo { private Object[] items; private int size=0; private static final int ISIZE=10; public Foo() { items= new Object[ISIZE]; } public void push(final Object o){ checkSize(); items[size++]=o; } public Object pop(){ if (size==0) throw new ///... return items[--size]; } private void checkSize(){ if (items.length==size){ items=Arrays.copyOf(items,2 * size+1); } } }

  • Iphone xcode simulator crashes when I move up and down on a table row

    - by Frames84
    I can't get my head round this. When the page loads, everything works fine - I can drill up and down, however 'stream' (in the position I have highlighted below) becomes not equal to anything when I pull up and down on the tableview. But the error is only sometimes. Normally it returns key/pairs. If know one can understand above how to you test for // (int)[$VAR count]} key/value pairs in a NSMutableDictionary object - (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { static NSString *FirstLevelCell = @"FirstLevelCell"; UITableViewCell *cell = [tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:FirstLevelCell]; if(cell == nil) { cell = [[[UITableViewCell alloc] initWithStyle:UITableViewCellStyleDefault reuseIdentifier:FirstLevelCell] autorelease]; } NSInteger row = [indexPath row]; //NSDictionary *stream = (NSDictionary *) [dataList objectAtIndex:row]; NSString *level = self.atLevel; if([level isEqualToString:@"level2"]) { NSMutableDictionary *stream = [[NSMutableArray alloc] init]; stream = (NSMutableDictionary *) [dataList objectAtIndex:row]; // stream value is (int)[$VAR count]} key/value pairs if ([stream valueForKey:@"title"] ) { cell.textLabel.text = [stream valueForKey:@"title"]; cell.textLabel.numberOfLines = 2; cell.textLabel.font =[UIFont systemFontOfSize:10]; NSString *detailText = [stream valueForKey:@"created"]; cell.detailTextLabel.numberOfLines = 2; cell.detailTextLabel.font= [UIFont systemFontOfSize:9]; cell.detailTextLabel.text = detailText; NSString *str = @"http://www.mywebsite.co.uk/images/stories/Cimex.jpg"; NSData *imageURL = [[NSData alloc] initWithContentsOfURL:[NSURL URLWithString:str]]; UIImage *newsImage = [[UIImage alloc] initWithData:imageURL]; cell.imageView.image = newsImage; [stream release]; } } else { cell.textLabel.text = [dataList objectAtIndex:row]; } return cell; } Thanks for your time

  • How do I add an extra separator to the top of a UITableView?

    - by richt
    Hi, I have a view for the iPhone that is basically split in two, with an informational display in the top half, and a UITableView for selecting actions in the bottom half. The problem is that there is no border or separator above the first cell in the UITableView, so the first item in the list looks funny. How can I add an extra separator at the top of the table, to separate it from the display area above it? Here's the code to build the cells - it's pretty straightforward. The overall layout is handled in a xib. - (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { static NSString *CellIdentifier = @"Cell"; UITableViewCell *cell = [tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:CellIdentifier]; if (cell == nil) { cell = [[[UITableViewCell alloc] initWithStyle:UITableViewCellStyleDefault reuseIdentifier:CellIdentifier] autorelease]; cell.accessoryType = UITableViewCellAccessoryDisclosureIndicator; } switch(indexPath.row) { case 0: { cell.textLabel.text = @"Action 1"; break; } case 1: { cell.textLabel.text = @"Action 2"; break; } // etc....... } return cell; }

  • Compiling my Boost/NTL program with c++ on Linux.

    - by Martin Lauridsen
    Hi SO, I wrote a client program and a server program, that uses the NTL library and Boost::Asio, to do client/server communication for an integer factorization application, in C++. Both sides consist of several headers and cpp files. Both project compile fine individually on Windows in Visual Studio. All I did, was add the include path of NTL and Boost to both projects: Additional include paths: "D:\Downloads\WinNTL-5_5_2\include";D:\boost_1_42_0 Furthermore, for both projects, I added the two library paths to both projects in VS: Additional library directories: D:\boost_1_42_0\stage\lib;"D:\Documents\Visual Studio 2008\Projects\ntl\Debug" And added under Additional dependencies: ntl.lib As said, it compiles fine on Windows. But when I put the code on a Linux machine provided by university, I try to compile with the following statement c++ -I/appl/htopopt/Linux_x86_64/NTL-5.4.2/include -I/appl/htopopt/Linux_x86_64/boost_1_43_0/include client_protocol.cpp mpqs_client.cpp mpqs_sieve.cpp mpqs_helper.cpp -o mpqs_helper -L/appl/htopopt/Linux_x86_64/NTL-5.4.2/lib -lntl -L/appl/htopopt/Linux_x86_64/gmp-4.2.1/lib -lgmp -lm -L/appl/htopopt/Linux_x86_64/boost_1_43_0/lib -lboost_system -static Upon doing this, I get a huuuge error, which I posted here. Any idea how to fix this, please??

  • Java Out of memory - Out of heap size

    - by user1907849
    I downloaded the sample program , for file transfer between the client and server. When I try running the program with 1 GB file , I get the Exception in thread "main" java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space at Client.main(Client.java:31). Edit: Line no 31: byte [] mybytearray = new byte [FILE_SIZE]; public final static int FILE_SIZE = 1097742336; // receive file long startTime = System.nanoTime(); byte [] mybytearray = new byte [FILE_SIZE]; InputStream is = sock.getInputStream(); fos = new FileOutputStream(FILE_TO_RECEIVED); bos = new BufferedOutputStream(fos); bytesRead = is.read(mybytearray,0,mybytearray.length); current = bytesRead; do { bytesRead = is.read(mybytearray, current, (mybytearray.length-current)); if(bytesRead >= 0) current += bytesRead; } while(bytesRead > -1); bos.write(mybytearray, 0 , current); bos.flush(); Is there any fix for this?

  • Using DisplayFor inside a display template

    - by Oenotria
    I've created a htmlhelper extension to reduce the amount of repetitive markup when creating forms: public static MvcHtmlString RenderField<TModel, TValue>(this HtmlHelper<TModel> htmlHelper, Expression<Func<TModel, TValue>> expression) { return htmlHelper.DisplayFor(expression, "formfield"); } The idea being that inside my views I can just write @Html.RenderField(x=>x.MyFieldName) and it will print the label and the field's content with the appropriate div tags in place already. Inside the displaytemplates folder I have created formfield.cshtml containing the following: <div class="display-group"> <div class="display-label"> @Html.LabelFor(x => x) </div> <div class="display-field"> @Html.DisplayFor(x => x) </div> </div> Unfortunately it doesn't appear that it is possible to nest DisplayFor inside a display template (it doesn't render anything). I don't want to just using @Model because then I won't get checkboxes for boolean values, calendar controls for dates etc. Is there a good way around this?

  • Memory allocation for a matrix in C

    - by Snogzvwtr
    Why is the following code resulting in Segmentation fault? (I'm trying to create two matrices of the same size, one with static and the other with dynamic allocation) #include <stdio.h> #include <stdlib.h> //Segmentation fault! int main(){ #define X 5000 #define Y 6000 int i; int a[X][Y]; int** b = (int**) malloc(sizeof(int*) * X); for(i=0; i<X; i++){ b[i] = malloc (sizeof(int) * Y); } } Weirdly enough, if I comment out one of the matrix definitions, the code runs fine. Like this: #include <stdio.h> #include <stdlib.h> //No Segmentation fault! int main(){ #define X 5000 #define Y 6000 int i; //int a[X][Y]; int** b = (int**) malloc(sizeof(int*) * X); for(i=0; i<X; i++){ b[i] = malloc (sizeof(int) * Y); } } or #include <stdio.h> #include <stdlib.h> //No Segmentation fault! int main(){ #define X 5000 #define Y 6000 int i; int a[X][Y]; //int** b = (int**) malloc(sizeof(int*) * X); //for(i=0; i<X; i++){ // b[i] = malloc (sizeof(int) * Y); //} } I'm running gcc on Linux on a 32-bit machine.

  • "Detecting" and loading of "plugins" in GAE

    - by Patrick Cornelissen
    Hi! I have a "plugin like" architecture and I want to create one instance of each class that implements a dedicated interface and put these in a cache. (To have a singleton-ish effect). The plugins will be provided as jars and put into the app engine war file before the app is uploaded. I have tried to use the ClassPathScanningCandidateComponentProvider as I'm using spring anyway, but this didn't work. The provider complained that it was not able to find the HttpServletResponse class file while scanning the classpath. I can't get around this, when I add the servlet jar, then I'll get of course problems, because the same jar is also provided by the GAE. If I don't, I'm getting the error above... So I tried to add a static initialization code, but of course this doesn't work, because the class is initialized when it's instantiated for the first time. (Well I knew that but it was worth a try) The last chance I currently see is that I create a properties file with all plugin classes when the package is created, but this requires writing of a maven plugin etc. and I'd like to avoid that. Is there something that I am missing?

  • Visual Studio 2008 linker wants all symbols to be resolved, not only used ones

    - by user343011
    We recently upgraded to Visual Studio 2008 from 2005, and I think those error started after that. In our solution, we have a multitude of projects. Many of those are utility projects, or projects containing core functionality used by other projects. The output of those is lib files that are linked to when building the projects generating the final binaries using the "Project dependencies..." option. One of the other projects---Let us call it ResultLib---generates a DLL, and it needs one single function from the core project. This function uses only static function from its own source file, but the project in its entirety uses a lot of low-level Windows functions and also imports a DLL---Let us call it Driver.dll. Our problem is that when building ExtLib, the linker complains about a multitude of unresolved externals, for example all functions exported from Driver.dll, since its lib file is not specified when linking. If we try to fix this by adding all lib files used by other projects that use all of the core project, our resulting ResultLib DLL ends up importing Driver.dll and also exporting all functions defined in it. How do we tell Visual Studio to only try to resolve symbols that are actually used?

  • cellForRowAtIndexPath not called for all sections

    - by Wynn
    I have a UITableView that has five sections. Just as the title describes cellForRowAtIndexPath is only being called for the first four. All connections have been made concerning the datasource and delegate. Also, my numberOfSectionsInTableView clearly returns 5. Printing out the number of sections from within cellForRowAtIndexPath shows the correct number, thus confirming that cellForRowAtIndexPath is simply not being called for all sections. What on earth is going on? I looked pretty hard for an answer to this question but could't find one. If this has already been answered please forgive me and point me in the correct direction. My cellForRowAtIndexPath: - (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)theTableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { static NSString *CellIdentifier = @"Cell"; UITableViewCell *cell = [theTableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:CellIdentifier]; if (cell == nil) { cell = [[UITableViewCell alloc] initWithStyle:UITableViewCellStyleDefault reuseIdentifier:CellIdentifier]; } switch (indexPath.section) { case 0: cell.textLabel.text = ticket.description; break; case 1: cell.textLabel.text = ticket.ticketStatus; break; case 2: cell.textLabel.text = ticket.priority; break; case 3: cell.textLabel.text = ticket.customerOfficePhone; break; case 4: { //This never ever gets executed Comment *comment = [ticket.comments objectAtIndex:indexPath.row]; cell.textLabel.text = comment.commentContent; break; } } return cell; } My numberOfSectionsInTableView: - (NSInteger)numberOfSectionsInTableView:(UITableView *)tableView { return 5; } My numberOfRowsInSection: - (NSInteger)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView numberOfRowsInSection:(NSInteger)section { NSInteger numberOfRows; if (section == 4) { numberOfRows = [ticket.comments count]; } else { numberOfRows = 1; } return numberOfRows; } Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks in advance.

  • help in selecting a row in a tableview and pushing that row into anotherview? sturgling on this sinc

    - by Madhu
    Hi, I have a list of about 5 items in a tableview which I bought them from a database and now when i am trying to push each of them into different views in DidSelectRow() what I am seeing is it is showing me all the views in all the categories.... here is the code I have written.... Here is the code written in cell for row at indexpath: - (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { static NSString *CellIdentifier = @"Cell"; UITableViewCell *cell = [tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:CellIdentifier]; if (cell == nil) { cell = [[[UITableViewCell alloc] initWithStyle:UITableViewCellStyleDefault reuseIdentifier:CellIdentifier] autorelease]; } BeautyQuotes *bQuote = (BeautyQuotes*)[mBeautyQ objectAtIndex:indexPath.row]; cell.textLabel.text = bQuote.qBeauty; [cell setAccessoryType:UITableViewCellAccessoryDisclosureIndicator] ; return cell; and in didselectrow() i have written this code: id count1 = [mBeautyQ count]; while (count1--) { object = [mBeautyQ objectAtIndex:count1]; } [mBeautyQ release]; if([[object objectAtIndex:indexPath.row] isEqual : @"Beauty Quotes"]){ [tableView deselectRowAtIndexPath:indexPath animated:NO]; BeautysubViewController *subBeauty = [[BeautysubViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"BeautysubViewController" bundle:nil]; //subBeauty.selected =[regions objectAtIndex:indexPath.row];(this is not working) [subBeauty setTitle:@"Beauty Quotes"]; NSLog(@"it is about push beauty subview controller"); [self.navigationController pushViewController:subBeauty animated:YES]; [subBeauty release]; } in this way i am pusing all the rows in to different views....but when I am pushing this into beautyquotes it is showing me all other views along with this.... struggling on this a lot please help me in dealing with this....

  • How to make Spring load a JDBC Driver BEFORE initializing Hibernate's SessionFactory?

    - by Bill_BsB
    I'm developing a Spring(2.5.6)+Hibernate(3.2.6) web application to connect to a custom database. For that I have custom JDBC Driver and Hibernate Dialect. I know for sure that these custom classes work (hard coded stuff on my unit tests). The problem, I guess, is with the order on which things get loaded by Spring. Basically: Custom Database initializes Spring load beans from web.xml Spring loads ServletBeans(applicationContext.xml) Hibernate kicks in: shows version and all the properties correctly loaded. Hibernate's HbmBinder runs (maps all my classes) LocalSessionFactoryBean - Building new Hibernate SessionFactory DriverManagerConnectionProvider - using driver: MyCustomJDBCDriver at CustomDBURL I get a SQLException: No suitable driver found for CustomDBURL Hibernate loads the Custom Dialect My CustomJDBCDriver finally gets registered with DriverManager (log messages) SettingsFactory runs SchemaExport runs (hbm2ddl) I get a SQLException: No suitable driver found for CustomDBURL (again?!) Application get successfully deployed but there are no tables on my custom Database. Things that I tried so far: Different techniques for passing hibernate properties: embedded in the 'sessionFactory' bean, loaded from a hibernate.properties file. Nothing worked but I didn't try with hibernate.cfg.xml file neither with a dataSource bean yet. MyCustomJDBCDriver has a static initializer block that registers it self with the DriverManager. Tried different combinations of lazy initializing (lazy-init="true") of the Spring beans but nothing worked. My custom JDBC driver should be the first thing to be loaded - not sure if by Spring but...! Can anyone give me a solution for this or maybe a hint for what else I could try? I can provide more details (huge stack traces for instance) if that helps. Thanks in advance.

  • Is it legal to take sealed .NET framework class source and extend it?

    - by Giedrius
    To be short, I'm giving very specific example, but I'm interested in general situation. There is a FtpWebRequest class in .NET framework and it is missing some of new FTP operations, like MFCT. It is ok in a sense that this operation is still in draft mode, but it is not ok in a sense, that FtpWebRequest is sealed and there's no other way (at least I don't see it) to extend it with this new operation. Easiest way to do it would be take FtpWebRequest class source from .NET reference sources and extend it, in such way will be kept all the consistence in naming, implementation, etc. Question is how much legal it is? I won't sell this class as a product, I can publish my changes on web - nothing to hide here. If it is not legal, can I take this class source from mono and include in native .net project? Did you had similar case and how you solved it? Update: as long as extension method is offered, I'm pasting source from .NET framework which should show that extension methods are not the solution. So there's a property Method, where you can pass FTP command: public override string Method { get { return m_MethodInfo.Method; } set { if (String.IsNullOrEmpty(value)) { throw new ArgumentException(SR.GetString(SR.net_ftp_invalid_method_name), "value"); } if (InUse) { throw new InvalidOperationException(SR.GetString(SR.net_reqsubmitted)); } try { m_MethodInfo = FtpMethodInfo.GetMethodInfo(value); } catch (ArgumentException) { throw new ArgumentException(SR.GetString(SR.net_ftp_unsupported_method), "value"); } } } As you can see there FtpMethodInfo.GetMethodInfo(value) call in setter, which basically validates value against internal enum static array. Update 2: Checked mono implementation and it is not exact replica of native code + it does not implement some of the things.

  • How to rewrite data-driven test suites of JUnit 3 in Junit 4?

    - by rics
    I am using data-driven test suites running JUnit 3 based on Rainsberger's JUnit Recipes. The purpose of these tests is to check whether a certain function is properly implemented related to a set of input-output pairs. Here is the definition of the test suite: public static Test suite() throws Exception { TestSuite suite = new TestSuite(); Calendar calendar = GregorianCalendar.getInstance(); calendar.set(2009, 8, 05, 13, 23); // 2009. 09. 05. 13:23 java.sql.Date date = new java.sql.Date(calendar.getTime().getTime()); suite.addTest(new DateFormatTestToString(date, JtDateFormat.FormatType.YYYY_MON_DD, "2009-SEP-05")); suite.addTest(new DateFormatTestToString(date, JtDateFormat.FormatType.DD_MON_YYYY, "05/SEP/2009")); return suite; } and the definition of the testing class: public class DateFormatTestToString extends TestCase { private java.sql.Date date; private JtDateFormat.FormatType dateFormat; private String expectedStringFormat; public DateFormatTestToString(java.sql.Date date, JtDateFormat.FormatType dateFormat, String expectedStringFormat) { super("testGetString"); this.date = date; this.dateFormat = dateFormat; this.expectedStringFormat = expectedStringFormat; } public void testGetString() { String result = JtDateFormat.getString(date, dateFormat); assertTrue( expectedStringFormat.equalsIgnoreCase(result)); } } How is it possible to test several input-output parameters of a method using JUnit 4? This question and the answers explained to me the distinction between JUnit 3 and 4 in this regard. This question and the answers describe the way to create test suite for a set of class but not for a method with a set of different parameters.

  • Spring Dependency Injecting an annotated Aspect

    Using Spring I've had some issues with doing a dependency injection on an annotated Aspect class. CacheService is injected upon the Spring context's startup, but when the weaving takes place, it says that the cacheService is null. So I am forced to relook up the spring context manually and get the bean from there. Is there another way of going about it? Here is an example of my Aspect: import org.apache.log4j.Logger; import org.aspectj.lang.ProceedingJoinPoint; import org.aspectj.lang.annotation.Around; import org.aspectj.lang.annotation.Aspect; import com.mzgubin.application.cache.CacheService; @Aspect public class CachingAdvice { private static Logger log = Logger.getLogger(CachingAdvice.class); private CacheService cacheService; @Around("execution(public *com.mzgubin.application.callMethod(..)) &&" + "args(params)") public Object addCachingToCreateXMLFromSite(ProceedingJoinPoint pjp, InterestingParams params) throws Throwable { log.debug("Weaving a method call to see if we should return something from the cache or create it from scratch by letting control flow move on"); Object result = null; if (getCacheService().objectExists(params))}{ result = getCacheService().getObject(params); } else { result = pjp.proceed(pjp.getArgs()); getCacheService().storeObject(params, result); } return result; } public CacheService getCacheService(){ return cacheService; } public void setCacheService(CacheService cacheService){ this.cacheService = cacheService; } }

  • Thread mutex behaviour

    - by Alberteddu
    Hi there, I'm learning C. I'm writing an application with multiple threads; I know that when a variable is shared between two or more threads, it is better to lock/unlock using a mutex to avoid deadlock and inconsistency of variables. This is very clear when I want to change or view one variable. int i = 0; /** Global */ static pthread_mutex_t mutex = PTHREAD_MUTEX_INITIALIZER; /** Thread 1. */ pthread_mutex_lock(&mutex); i++; pthread_mutex_unlock(&mutex); /** Thread 2. */ pthread_mutex_lock(&mutex); i++; pthread_mutex_unlock(&mutex); This is correct, I think. The variable i, at the end of the executions, contains the integer 2. Anyway, there are some situations in which I don't know exactly where to put the two function calls. For example, suppose you have a function obtain(), which returns a global variable. I need to call that function from within the two threads. I have also two other threads that call the function set(), defined with a few arguments; this function will set the same global variable. The two functions are necessary when you need to do something before getting/setting the var. /** (0) */ /** Thread 1, or 2, or 3... */ if(obtain() == something) { if(obtain() == somethingElse) { // Do this, sometimes obtain() and sometimes set(random number) (1) } else { // Do that, just obtain(). (2) } } else { // Do this and do that (3) // If # of thread * 3 > 10, then set(3*10) For example. (4) } /** (5) */ Where I have to lock, and where I have to unlock? The situation can be, I think, even more complex. I will appreciate an exhaustive answer. Thank you in advance. —Alberto

  • C++ member template for boost ptr_vector

    - by Ivan
    Hi there, I'm trying to write a container class using boost::ptr_vector. Inside the ptr_vector I would like to include different classes. I'm trying to achieve that using static templates, but so far I'm not able to do that. For example, the container class is class model { private: boost::ptr_vector<elem_type> elements; public: void insert_element(elem_type *a) { element_list.push_back(a); } }; and what I'm trying to achieve is be able to use different elem_type classes. The code below doesn't satisfy my requirements: template <typename T>class model { private: boost::ptr_vector<T> elements; public: void insert_element(T *a) { element_list.push_back(a); } }; because when I initialize the container class I can only use one class as template: model <elem_type_1> model_thing; model_thing.insert_element(new elem_type_1) but not elem_type_2: model_thing.insert_element(new elem_type_2)//error, of course It is possible to do something like using templates only on the member? class model { private: template <typename T> boost::ptr_vector<T> elements; public: void insert_element(T *a) { element_list.push_back(a); } }; //wrong So I can call the insert_element on the specific class that I want to insert? Note that I do not want to use virtual members. Thanks!

  • How do I close a file after catching an IOException in java?

    - by DimDom
    All, I am trying to ensure that a file I have open with BufferedReader is closed when I catch an IOException, but it appears as if my BufferedReader object is out of scope in the catch block. public static ArrayList readFiletoArrayList(String fileName, ArrayList fileArrayList) { fileArrayList.removeAll(fileArrayList); try { //open the file for reading BufferedReader fileIn = new BufferedReader(new FileReader(fileName)); // add line by line to array list, until end of file is reached // when buffered reader returns null (todo). while(true){ fileArrayList.add(fileIn.readLine()); } }catch(IOException e){ fileArrayList.removeAll(fileArrayList); fileIn.close(); return fileArrayList; //returned empty. Dealt with in calling code. } } Netbeans complains that it "cannot find symbol fileIn" in the catch block, but I want to ensure that in the case of an IOException that the Reader gets closed. How can I do that without the ugliness of a second try/catch construct around the first? Any tips or pointers as to best practise in this situation is appreciated,

My domain objects are as follows: public class Customer { private readonly IList<Order> orders = new List<Order>(); public string Name { get; set; } public IEnumerable<Order> Orders { get { return orders; } } public void AddOrder(Order order) { orders.Add(order); } } public class Order { public string Reference { get; set; } } I have the following controller classes: public class CustomersController { public IndexViewModel Index(IndexInputModel inputModel) { var customer1 = new Customer { Name = "John Smith" }; customer1.AddOrder(new Order { Reference = "ABC123" }); return new IndexViewModel { Customers = new[] { customer1 } }; } } public class IndexInputModel { } public class IndexViewModel { public IEnumerable<Customer> Customers { get; set; } } public class IndexView : FubuPage<IndexViewModel> { } public class CustomerPartial : FubuControl<Customer> { } public class OrderPartial : FubuControl<Order> { } IndexView.aspx: (standard html stuff trimmed) <div> <%= this.PartialForEach(x => x.Customers).Using<CustomerPartial>() %> </div> CustomerPartial.ascx: <%@ Control Language="C#" Inherits="FubuDemo.Controllers.Customers.CustomerPartial" %> <div> Customer Name: <%= this.DisplayFor(x => x.Name) %> <br /> Orders: (<%= Model.Orders.Count() %>) <br /> <%= this.PartialForEach(x => x.Orders) %> </div> OrderPartial.ascx: <%@ Control Language="C#" Inherits="FubuDemo.Controllers.Customers.OrderPartial" %> <div> Order <br /> Ref: <%= this.DisplayFor(x => x.Reference) %> </div> When I view Customers/Index, I see the following: Customers Customer Name: John Smith Orders: (1) It seems that in CustomerPartial.ascx, doing Model.Orders.Count() correctly picks up that 1 order exists. However PartialForEach(x = x.Orders) does not, as nothing is rendered for the order. If I set a breakpoint on the Order constructor, I see that it initially gets called by the Index method on CustomersController, but then it gets called by FubuMVC.Core.Models.StandardModelBinder.Bind, so it is getting re-instantiated by FubuMVC and losing the content of the Orders collection. This isn't quite what I'd expect, I would think that PartialForEach would just pass the domain object directly into the partial. Am I missing the point somewhere? What is the 'correct' way to achieve this kind of result in Fubu?

  • Custom UITableViewCell from xib isn't displaying properly

    - by Kenny Wyland
    I've created custom UITableCells a bunch of times and I've never run into this problem, so I'm hoping you can help me find the thing I've missed or messed up. When I run my app, the cells in my table view appear to be standard cells with Default style. I have SettingsTableCell which is a subclass of UITableViewCell. I have a SettingsTableCell.xib which contains a UITableViewCell and inside that are a couple labels and a textfield. I've set the class type in the xib to be SettingsTableCell and the File's Owner of the xib to my table controller. My SettingsTableController has an IBOutlet property named tableCell. My cellForRowAtIndexPath contains the following code to load my table view xib and assign it to my table controller's tableCell property: static NSString *CellIdentifier = @"CellSettings"; SettingsTableCell *cell = (SettingsTableCell*)[tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:CellIdentifier]; if (cell == nil) { [[NSBundle mainBundle] loadNibNamed:@"SettingsTableCell" owner:self options:nil]; cell = self.tableCell; self.tableCell = nil; NSLog(@"cell=%@", cell); } This is what my xib set up looks like in IB: When I run my app, the table displays as if all of the cells are standard Default style cells though: The seriously weird part is though... if I tap on the area of the cell where the textfield SHOULD be, the keyboard does come up! The textfield isn't visible, there's no cursor or anything like that... but it does respond. The visible UILabel is obviously not the UILabel from my xib though because the label in my xib is right justified and the one showing in the app is left justified. I'm incredibly confused about how this is happening. Any help is appreciated.

    - by JB
    As title says, im having trouble with my junit tests passing for checking if a character is not in a string and how to check if an empty string doesnt have a character. here is the method i have: public static boolean isThere(String s, char value){ for(int x = 0; x <= s.length(); x++){ if(s.charAt(x) == value){ return true; } else if(s.length() == 0){ return false; } } return false; And here is the junit test: public void testIsThere() { { String sVal = "Jeff George"; boolean hasA = StringMethods.isThere(sVal,'e'); assertTrue(hasA); boolean hasE = StringMethods.isThere(sVal, 'o'); assertTrue(hasE); boolean notIn = StringMethods.isThere(sVal,'b'); assertTrue(notIn); } { String sVal = ""; boolean nothingIn = StringMethods.isThere(sVal,'a'); assertFalse(nothingIn); boolean notIn = StringMethods.isThere(sVal,'b'); assertFalse(notIn); } } Thank you very much, appreciated

    This is my program - (void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; // Uncomment the following line to display an Edit button in the navigation bar for this view controller. self.title = @"Library"; self.navigationItem.rightBarButtonItem = [[UIBarButtonItem alloc] initWithTitle:@"Close" style:UIBarButtonItemStyleBordered target:self action:@selector(close:)]; // self.tableView.rowHeight = 80; } -(void)close:(id)sender { // } - (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { static NSString *CellIdentifier = @"Cell"; UITableViewCell *cell = [tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:CellIdentifier]; if (cell == nil) { cell = [[[UITableViewCell alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectZero reuseIdentifier:CellIdentifier] autorelease]; UILabel *dateLabel = [[UILabel alloc]init]; dateLabel.frame = CGRectMake(85.0f, 6.0f, 200.0f, 20.0f); dateLabel.tag = tag1; [cell setAccessoryType:UITableViewCellAccessoryDisclosureIndicator]; cell.contentView.frame = CGRectMake(0.0f, 0.0f, 320.0f, 80.0f); [cell.contentView addSubview:dateLabel]; [dateLabel release]; } // Set up the cell... //[(UILabel *)[cell viewWithTag:tag1] setText:@"Date"]; cell.textLabel.text = @"Date"; return cell; } I am setting the frame size of cell in tableView: but the cell is in default size only. I mean the height I set was 80 but it was not set as 80 height. How can I make it. Thank You

  • How should I organize my Java GUI?

    - by Spencer
    I'm creating a game in Java for fun and I'm trying to decide how to organize my classes for the GUI. So far, all the classes with only the swing components and layout (no logic) are in a package called "ui". I now need to add listeners (i.e. ActionListener) to components (i.e. button). The listeners need to communicate with the Game class. Currently I have: Game.java - creates the frame add panels to it import javax.swing.; import ui.; public class Game { private JFrame frame; Main main; Rules rules; Game() { rules = new Rules(); frame = new JFrame(); frame.setDefaultCloseOperation(JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE); main = new Main(); frame.setContentPane(main.getContentPane()); show(); } void show() { frame.pack(); frame.setLocationRelativeTo(null); frame.setVisible(true); } public static void main(String[] args) { new Game(); } } Rules.java - game logic ui package - all classes create new panels to be swapped out with the main frame's content pane Main.java (Main Menu) - creates a panel with components Where do I now place the functionality for the Main class? In the game class? Separate class? Or is the whole organization wrong? Thanks
