• How do I use QXmlQuery properly? (Qt XQuery/XPath)

- by Steven Jackson
I'm using the following code to load in an XML file (actually an NZB): QXmlQuery query; query.bindVariable("path", QVariant(path)); query.setQuery("doc($path)/nzb/file/segments/segment/string()"); if(!query.isValid()) throw QString("Invalid query."); QStringList segments; if(!query.evaluateTo(&segments)) throw QString("Unable to evaluate..."); QString string; foreach(string, segments) qDebug() << "String: " << string; With the following input, it works as expected: <nzb> <file> <groups> <group>alt.binaries.cd.image</group> </groups> <segments> <segment>[email protected]</segment> </segments> </file> </nzb> However, with the following input no results are returned. This is how the input should be formatted, with attributes: <nzb xmlns="http://www.newzbin.com/DTD/2003/nzb"> <file poster="[email protected]" date="1225385180" subject="ubuntu-8.10-desktop-i386 - ubuntu-8.10-desktop-i386.par2 (1/1)"> <groups> <group>alt.binaries.cd.image</group> </groups> <segments> <segment bytes="66196" number="1">[email protected]</segment> <segment bytes="661967" number="1">[email protected]</segment> </segments> </file> </nzb> Please can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

• Has anyone here tried using the iSeries Python port?

- by nearly_lunchtime
I found http://www.iseriespython.com/, which is a version of Python for the iSeries apparently including some system specific data access classes. I am keen to try this out, but will have to get approval at work to do so. My questions are: Does the port work well, or are there limits to what the interpreter can handle compared with standard Python implementations? Does the iSeries database access layer work well, creating usable objects from table definitions?

• Hadoop in a RESTful Java Web Application - Conflicting URI templates

- by user1231583
I have a small Java Web Application in which I am using Jersey 1.12 and the Hadoop 1.0.0 JAR file (hadoop-core-1.0.0.jar). When I deploy my application to my JBoss 5.0 server, the log file records the following error: SEVERE: Conflicting URI templates. The URI template / for root resource class org.apache.hadoop.hdfs.server.namenode.web.resources.NamenodeWebHdfsMethods and the URI template / transform to the same regular expression (/.*)? To make sure my code is not the problem, I have created a fresh web application that contains nothing but the Jersey and Hadoop JAR files along with a small stub. My web.xml is as follows: <web-app version="2.5" xmlns="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/javaee" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:schemaLocation="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/javaee http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/javaee/web-app_2_5.xsd"> <servlet> <servlet-name>ServletAdaptor</servlet-name> <servlet-class>com.sun.jersey.spi.container.servlet.ServletContainer</servlet- class> <load-on-startup>1</load-on-startup> </servlet> <servlet-mapping> <servlet-name>ServletAdaptor</servlet-name> <url-pattern>/mytest/*</url-pattern> </servlet-mapping> <session-config> <session-timeout> 30 </session-timeout> </session-config> <welcome-file-list> <welcome-file>index.jsp</welcome-file> </welcome-file-list> </web-app> My simple RESTful stub is as follows: import javax.ws.rs.core.Context; import javax.ws.rs.core.UriInfo; import javax.ws.rs.Path; @Path("/mytest") public class MyRest { @Context private UriInfo context; public MyRest() { } } In my regular application, when I remove the Hadoop JAR files (and the code that is using Hadoop), everything works as I would expect. The deployment is successful and the remaining RESTful services work. I have also tried the Hadoop 1.0.1 JAR files and have had the same problems with the conflicting URL template in the NamenodeWebHdfsMethods class. Any suggestions or tips in solving this problem would be greatly appreciated.

• CouchDB Find One not working

- by Andrew
I am a couchDB newbie and am doing the examples in the O'Reilly CouchDB guide. I have a problem using a view to retrieve a document by key: curl http://127.0.0.1:5984/basic/_design/example/_view/by_date?key="2009/01/15 15:52:20" gives the reply: curl: (52) Empty reply from server but just retrieving all rows: curl http://127.0.0.1:5984/basic/_design/example/_view/by_date gives me 3 rows including the specific row I am looking for: {"id":"hello-world","key":"2009/01/15 15:52:20","value":"Hello World"} why doesn't the key query work? I am using CouchDB version 0.10.0 on Ubuntu 9.10

• XSLT: How to exclude empty elements from my result?

- by Fedor Steeman
I have a rather complicated xslt sheet transforming one xml format to another using templates. However, in the resulting xml, I need to have all the empty elements excluded. How is that done? This is how the base xslt looks like: <xsl:stylesheet version="1.0" xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform" xmlns:far="http://www.itella.com/fargo/fargogate/" xmlns:a="http://tempuri.org/XMLSchema.xsd" xmlns:p="http://tempuri.org/XMLSchema.xsd"> <xsl:import href="TransportCDMtoFDM_V0.6.xsl"/> <xsl:import href="ConsignmentCDMtoFDM_V0.6.xsl"/> <xsl:template match="/"> <InboundFargoMessage> <EdiSender> <xsl:value-of select="TransportInformationMessage/SenderId"/> </EdiSender> <EdiReceiver> <xsl:value-of select="TransportInformationMessage/RecipientId"/> </EdiReceiver> <EdiSource> <xsl:value-of select="TransportInformationMessage/Waybill/Parties/Consignor/Id"/> </EdiSource> <EdiDestination>FARGO</EdiDestination> <Transportations> <xsl:for-each select="TransportInformationMessage/TransportUnits/TransportUnit"> <xsl:call-template name="transport"/> </xsl:for-each> <xsl:for-each select="TransportInformationMessage/Waybill/TransportUnits/TransportUnit"> <xsl:call-template name="transport"/> </xsl:for-each> <xsl:for-each select="TransportInformationMessage/Waybill"> <EdiImportTransportationDTO> <Consignments> <xsl:for-each select="Shipments/Shipment"> <xsl:call-template name="consignment"/> </xsl:for-each> </Consignments> <EdiTerminalDepartureTime> <xsl:value-of select="DatesAndTimes/EstimatedDepartureDateTime"/> <xsl:value-of select="DatesAndTimes/DepartureDateTime"/> </EdiTerminalDepartureTime> <EdiAgentTerminalArrivalDate> <xsl:value-of select="DatesAndTimes/EstimatedArrivalDateTime"/> <xsl:value-of select="DatesAndTimes/ArrivalDateTime"/> </EdiAgentTerminalArrivalDate> <EdiActivevehicle> <xsl:value-of select="Vehicle/TransportShiftNumber"/> </EdiActivevehicle> <EdiConveyerZipCodeTown><xsl:text> </xsl:text></EdiConveyerZipCodeTown> </EdiImportTransportationDTO> </xsl:for-each> </Transportations> </InboundFargoMessage> </xsl:template> </xsl:stylesheet> What needs to be added, so that empty elements are left out? For example, a snippet from the resulting xml: <InboundFargoMessage xmlns:p="http://tempuri.org/XMLSchema.xsd" xmlns:far="http://www.itella.com/fargo/fargogate/" xmlns:a="http://tempuri.org/XMLSchema.xsd"> <EdiSender>XXXX</EdiSender> <EdiReceiver>YYYY</EdiReceiver> <EdiSource>TR/BAL/IST</EdiSource> <EdiDestination>FARGO</EdiDestination> <Transportations> <EdiImportTransportationDTO> <Consignments> <EdiImportConsignmentDTO> <ConsignmentLines> <EdiImportConsignmentLineDTO> <DangerousGoodsItems> <EdiImportDangerGoodsItemDTO> <EdiKolliTypeOuter/> <EdiKolliTypeInner/> <EdiTechnicalDescription/> <EdiUNno/> <EdiClass/> <EdiDangerFactor/> <EdiEmergencyTemperature/> </EdiImportDangerGoodsItemDTO> </DangerousGoodsItems> <BarCodes> <EdiImportConsignmentLineBarcodeDTO/> </BarCodes> <EdiNumberOfPieces>00000002</EdiNumberOfPieces> <EdiGrossWeight>0.000</EdiGrossWeight> <EdiHeight/> <EdiWidth/> <EdiLength/> <EdiGoodsDescription/> <EdiMarkingAndNumber/> <EdiKolliType>road</EdiKolliType> <EdiCbm/> <EdiLdm/> </EdiImportConsignmentLineDTO> That really needs to be: <InboundFargoMessage xmlns:p="http://tempuri.org/XMLSchema.xsd" xmlns:far="http://www.itella.com/fargo/fargogate/" xmlns:a="http://tempuri.org/XMLSchema.xsd"> <EdiSender>XXXX</EdiSender> <EdiReceiver>YYYY</EdiReceiver> <EdiSource>TR/BAL/IST</EdiSource> <EdiDestination>FARGO</EdiDestination> <Transportations> <EdiImportTransportationDTO> <Consignments> <EdiImportConsignmentDTO> <ConsignmentLines> <EdiImportConsignmentLineDTO> <DangerousGoodsItems/> <BarCodes/> <EdiNumberOfPieces>00000002</EdiNumberOfPieces> <EdiGrossWeight>0.000</EdiGrossWeight> <EdiKolliType>road</EdiKolliType> </EdiImportConsignmentLineDTO> In other words: Empty elements should be left out.

• How do you do a limit query in HQL

- by stevedbrown
In Hibernate 3, is there a way to do the equivalent of the following MySql limit in HQL. select * from a_table order by a_table_column desc limit 0, 20; I don't want to use setMaxResults if possible. This definitely was possible in the older version of Hibernate/HQL, but seems to have disappeared.

• SVN Tree Conflict Errors

- by John
I seem to see such errors quite often in our SVN 1.6 repo. We got these quite a lot while we used to just work on /trunk so I don't think it's due to merge/branching confusion. It seems that a cleup and marking the conflict resolved always works, but it's a little concerning to see errors in your version control system when you're just adding/updating/deleting files. What causes it?

• In Flex, how to drag a component into a column of DataGrid (not the whole DataGrid)?

- by Yousui
Hi guys, I have a custom component: <s:Group xmlns:fx="http://ns.adobe.com/mxml/2009" xmlns:s="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/spark" xmlns:mx="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/mx"> <fx:Declarations> </fx:Declarations> <fx:Script> [Bindable] public var label:String = "don't know"; [Bindable] public var imageName:String = "x.gif"; </fx:Script> <s:HGroup paddingLeft="8" paddingTop="8" paddingRight="8" paddingBottom="8"> <mx:Image id="img" source="assets/{imageName}" /> <s:Label text="{label}"/> </s:HGroup> </s:Group> and a custom render, which will be used in my DataGrid: <s:MXDataGridItemRenderer xmlns:fx="http://ns.adobe.com/mxml/2009" xmlns:s="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/spark" xmlns:mx="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/mx" focusEnabled="true" xmlns:components="components.*"> <s:VGroup> <components:Person label="{dataGridListData.label}"> </components:Person> </s:VGroup> </s:MXDataGridItemRenderer> This is my application: <s:Application xmlns:fx="http://ns.adobe.com/mxml/2009" xmlns:s="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/spark" xmlns:mx="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/mx" minWidth="955" minHeight="600" xmlns:services="services.*"> <s:layout> <s:VerticalLayout/> </s:layout> <fx:Script> import mx.collections.ArrayCollection; import mx.controls.Alert; import mx.controls.Image; import mx.rpc.events.ResultEvent; import mx.utils.ArrayUtil; </fx:Script> <fx:Declarations> <fx:XMLList id="employees"> <employee>
<phone>555-219-2270</phone>
<active>true</active>
</employee> <employee>
<phone>555-219-2012</phone>
<active>true</active>
</employee> <employee>
<phone>555-219-2012</phone>
<active>false</active>
</employee> <employee>
<phone>555-219-2000</phone>
<active>true</active>
</employee> </fx:XMLList> </fx:Declarations> <s:HGroup> <mx:DataGrid dataProvider="{employees}" width="100%" dropEnabled="true"> <mx:columns> <mx:DataGridColumn headerText="Employee Name" dataField="name"/> <mx:DataGridColumn headerText="Email" dataField="email"/> <mx:DataGridColumn headerText="Image" dataField="image" itemRenderer="renderers.render1"/> </mx:columns> </mx:DataGrid> <s:List dragEnabled="true" dragMoveEnabled="false"> <s:dataProvider> <s:ArrayCollection> <fx:String>aaa</fx:String> <fx:String>bbb</fx:String> <fx:String>ccc</fx:String> <fx:String>ddd</fx:String> </s:ArrayCollection> </s:dataProvider> </s:List> </s:HGroup> </s:Application> Now what I want to do is let the user drag an one or more item from the left List component and drop at the third column of the DataGrid, then using the dragged data to create another <components:Person /> object. So in the final result, maybe the first line contains just one <components:Person /> object at the third column, the second line contains two <components:Person /> object at the third column and so on. Can this be implemented in Flex? How? Great thanks.

• Open-sourcing a mobile app

- by hgpc
I'm considering making one of my most popular mobile apps into an open-source project. It has an Android and iPhone version. While I have used open-source projects and submitted feature requests and bug reports, I have never created an open-source project nor contributed with a patch to an existing one. What are the top things that I should take into account before opening the source of my project? What specific steps do you recommend taking for open-sourcing a mobile app?

• MacOSX + Eclipse: Rename variable function not working

- by MIsha
Good day. I have Eclipse PHP Galileo for Mac OSX, 32bit Cocoa version. The problem is the rename function doesn't work properly. While editing PHP file I choose Refactor-Rename menu or a rename hotkey and Eclipse doesn't offer me to rename a variable, instead a rename file dialog appears. Tried to configure hotkeys but no luck. If you do know the solution – please tell. Thank you.

• Multiuser XML document "database" for asp.net app

- by Pierreten
I was thinking about a way to allow multiple users to get CRUD access to an XML document in an asp.net app. The operations would obviously have to be made under the assumption of a multithreaded environment. For perf reasons, would it make sense to cache the document, and use a mutex on that cached version? When would changes be flushed to the physical XML document? Any and all recommendations are appreciated (also "use a database" isn't an option at this point unfortunately)

• How do I apply a servlet filter when serving an HTML page directly?

- by Philippe Beaudoin
First off, I'm using Google AppEngine and Guice, but I suspect my problem is not related to these. When the user connect to my (GWT) webapp, the URL is a direct html page. For example, in development mode, it is: http://127.0.0.1:8888/Puzzlebazar.html?gwt.codesvr=127.0.0.1:9997. Now, I setup my web.xml in the following way: <web-app xmlns="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/javaee" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:schemaLocation="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/javaee http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/javaee/web-app_2_5.xsd" version="2.5"> <display-name>PuzzleBazar</display-name> <welcome-file-list> <welcome-file>Puzzlebazar.html</welcome-file> </welcome-file-list> <filter> <filter-name>guiceFilter</filter-name> <filter-class>com.google.inject.servlet.GuiceFilter</filter-class> </filter> <filter-mapping> <filter-name>guiceFilter</filter-name> <url-pattern>/*</url-pattern> </filter-mapping> <listener> <listener-class>com.puzzlebazar.server.guice.MyGuiceServletContextListener </listener-class> </listener> </web-app> Since I'm using Guice, I have to configure extra filters in my ServletModule, where I do this: filter("*.html").through( SecurityCookieFilter.class ); But my SecurityCookieFilter.doFilter is never called. I tried things like "*.html*" or <url-pattern>*</url-pattern> but to no avail. Any idea how I should do this?

• False sense of security with `snprintf_s`

- by xtofl
MSVC's "secure" sprintf funcions have a template version that 'knows' the size of the target buffer. However, this code happily paints 567890 over the stack after the end of bytes... char bytes[5]; _snprintf_s( bytes, _TRUNCATE, "%s", "1234567890" ); Any idea what I do wrong, or is this a known bug? (I'm working in VS2005 - didn't test in 2008 or 2010)
