• Catching constraint violations in JPA 2.0.

  Consider the following entity class, used with, for example, EclipseLink 2.0.2 - where the link attribute is not the primary key, but unique nontheless. @Entity public class Profile { @Id private Long id; @Column(unique = true) private String link; // Some more attributes and getter and setter methods } When I insert records with a duplicate value for the link attribute, EclipseLink does not throw a EntityExistsException, but throws a DatabaseException, with the message explaining that the unique constraint was violated. This doesn't seem very usefull, as there would not be a simple, database independent, way to catch this exception. What would be the advised way to deal with this? A few things that I have considered are: Checking the error code on the DatabaseException - I fear that this error code, though, is the native error code for the database; Checking the existence of a Profile with the specific value for link beforehand - this obviously would result in an enormous amount of superfluous queries.

• cahoots - zend framework application is not running

  hello everyone, I downloaded cahoots from sourceforge.net. It is a zend framework application. Very nicely done and I must say that it should be a nice tutorial for everyone who is struggling to learn Zend framework. But my problem is that even after reading the instructions this application is still not running. The application just doesn't run at all giving an error message. I have tried my best. no success :( Also I wanted to execute the application as "http://localhost/cahoots" but it runs by this URL "http://localhost/cahoots/public". why is it so.? I am using XAMPP v 1.7.1 with mod-rewrite enabled. Please guide me through the process. Any good tutorials on zend framework with zend tool would be appreciable. I want to learn this framework. • How does jQuery .data() work?

  My Javascript knowledge is pretty limited. Instead of asking several javascript questions I got the "message" from Stack overflow and started using jQuery right away in order to save me some time. However several times I do not undestand the "magic" behind jQuery and I would love to learn the details. I want to use .data() in my application. The examples are very helpful. I do not understand however WHERE these values are stored. I inspect the webpage with Firebug and as soon as .data() saves an object to a dom element, I do not see any change in Firebug (either HTML or Dom tabs). I tried to look at jQuery source, but it is very advanced for my Javascript knowledge and I lost myself. So the question is: Where do the values stored by jQuery.data() actually go? Can I inspect/locate/list/debug them using a tool?

  I get the following error message when I try to start the Git GUI: Error in Wish Can't find a usable init.tcl in the following directories: ... [list of directories follows, init.tcl is in the first one listed] This probably means that Tcl wasn't installed properly. I'm running Windows 7 and I'm sure this problem is related to that, but I don't know where to start. I can, and most often will, use the Bash tool, but it annoys me that this doesn't work. • iPhone: Save with validation on back navigation

  In my iPhone application I have navigation controller, main screen and some edit screens. On edit screen user does some input that has to be validated before I can save it. Ideally I would like to update data automatically on back navigation without additional "Done" button. Can I do some validation and save on back navigation (i.e. when user taps on standard back button) in a way that allows my to stop navigation and show some error message if something is wrong? I see several other possibilities: Create my custom left button and make it looks like standard back. (Why Apple didn't put this button style into public API?) Add "Done" button and save data only if user taps it but both these choices I like much less. So if there is a way to achieve what I want, I'd like to use it.

• How to implement an EventHandler to update controls

  May I ask for help with the following? I am attempting to connect and control three pieces of household electronic equipment by computer through a GlobalCache GC-100 and iTach. As you will see in the following code, I created a class-instance of GlobalCacheAdapter that communicates with each piece of equipment. Although the code seems to work well in controlling the equipment, I am having trouble updating controls with the feedback from the equipment. The procedure "ReaderThreadProc" captures the feedback; however I don't know how to update the associated TextBox with the feedback. I believe that I need to create an EventHandler to notify the TextBox of the available update; however I am uncertain as to how an EventHandler like this would be implemented. • Problem using pantheios file stock back end

  I am trying to use pantheios file stock back end to log from my dll in c++. The file gets created but nothing gets written to the file. • C# ASP.Net The type or namespace name 'iAnywhere' could not be found

  Morning all, I know that this sounds like a simple referencing problem from the title this is becoming a nightmare! I have a code class that uses the "iAnywhere.Data.AsaClient.dll". This Dll is referenced in the project and in the code class I have added this dll in the Using section. Everything seems fine at build with no errors at all but when I go to run the application it comes up with the following Compilation Error: Compiler Error Message: CS0246: The type or namespace name 'iAnywhere' could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?) The line that the Error points to this line in the class: using iAnywhere.Data.AsaClient; I have set the dll to copy local and it makes no difference, the Dll is installed on my PC so is in the GAC, I use this Dll with many other C# projects and have no problems. I have scoured Google looking for an answer and haven't found anything that points me to an answer to my problem. Any help would be brilliant!

• Will the URL /nosuchpage get routed via my ASP.NET MVC application?

  [I'm trying to figure out the reason why I'm having another problem, and this question is part of the puzzle.] I have an MVC 2 website that has routing set up so that URLs such as /Customer/23/Order/47 get handled by various controllers. I do not have a rule that would match, for example, /nosuchpage and in my Cassini environment a request for that URL will trigger my Application_Error code, which lets me log the error and show a friendly response. However, when I deployed this website on IIS7 using integrated mode, my Application_Error is not triggered, and IIS shows its own 404 message. No matter what I've tried, I can't get Application_Error to fire. Now I'm thinking: is the reason it doesn't fire because the request is not getting routed via my application? Either because I didn't explicitly set up a catch-all route, or because the file-extension fools it into thinking it should use the "static file handler" (whatever that is)? Should I expect my Application_Error to be invoked?

After successfully distributing several messages each second for 8 days, it missed a single message and did not deliver it properly to the clients. As I was looking at the logs I tried to find something there that was special for the time the miss happend - either in the data, its rate or some other condition but couldn't find anything. Is there any data mining technique I can use to identify how that specific event differs from other events?

• Getting attachments from a mail account with .NET

  I'd like a free library for .NET to get attachments from an account (such as gMail, or others) via imap4 (not necessarely), and save them in a folder. Ideally it would allow me to get a list of them, and download only some given ones (filtering by extension, name, and/or size) and be free.   Hi! I am using apache tika 7.0, one of the classes, called FLVParser, which is used to extrac metadata from videos. But, when i try to use one of the methos in the class, i get this error in Eclipse: Multiple markers at this line Syntax error on token "parse", Identifier expected after this token Syntax error on token(s), misplaced construct(s) I don't know exactly the meaning of this, and i don't know how to continue.   I can successfully send any single key message to an application, but don't know how to send combinations of keys (like Ctrl+F12, Shift+F1, Ctrl+R, etc..) Tired doing this that way: SendMessage(handle, WM_KEYDOWN, Keys.Control, 0); SendMessage(handle, WM_KEYDOWN, Keys.F12, 0); SendMessage(handle, WM_KEYUP, Keys.F12, 0); SendMessage(handle, WM_KEYUP, Keys.Control, 0); but this doen not seems to work.. (application act like only F12 is pressed, not Ctrl+F12).. Any ideas how to make this work?

• Better exception for non-exhaustive patterns in case

  Is there a way to get GHCi to produce better exception messages when it finds at runtime that a call has produced value that does not match the function's pattern matching? It currently gives the line numbers of the function which produced the non-exhaustive pattern match which though helpful at times does require a round of debugging which at times I feel is doing the same set of things over and over. So before I tried to put together a solution I wanted to see if something else exists. An exception message that in addition to giving the line numbers shows what kind of call it attempted to make? Is this even possible?

  From Excel, I need to open an Access database and run one of the database's macros. I'm using Excel and Access 2007. Each time I run this, I get the following error: Runtime error '2485': Microsoft Access Office can't find the object 'RunQueries.' I have also tried: appAccess.DoCmd.RunMacro "RunQueries" and I get the same errors message. Any idea how to do this? By the way, I could go into a long explanation about why I need to do this, but let me just say that I've already argued against it, and I have to do it this way (meaning, I have to use Excel as a frontend to open several Access dbs and run their macros).

• Building a webserver, client doesn't acknowledge HTTP 200 OK frame.

  Hi there, I'm building my own webserver based on a tutorial. I have found a simple way to initiate a TCP connection and send one segment of http data (the webserver will run on a microcontroller, so it will be very small) Anyway, the following is the sequence I need to go through: receive SYN send SYN,ACK receive ACK (the connection is now established) receive ACK with HTTP GET command send ACK send FIN,ACK with HTTP data (e.g 200 OK) receive FIN,ACK <- I don't recieve this packet! send ACK Everything works fine until I send my acknowledgement and HTTP 200 OK message. The client won't send an acknowledgement to those two packages and thus no webpage is being displayed. I've added a pcap file of the sequence how I recorded it with wireshark. Pcap file: http://cl.ly/5f5 (now it's the right data) All sequence and acknowledgement numbers are correct, checksum are ok. Flags are also right. I have no idea what is going wrong.

• how to ouput text to java console from servlet

  I have a servlet. But it is not working as desired. Hence for debugging purposes, I want to print statements to the java console(the one that can be opened using the java icon in taskbar). However, if I use System.out.println("message"), it doesnt display in java console. Is there any alternative way where I can display messages to the console from the servlet? Or can anyone suggest me an alternative way to display messages to any other console?
