  • Dottrace Dead vs. Garbage

    - by Moshe
    After reading the dottrace documentation I realized that: Dead objects are objects deleted before the end point of the snapshot. Garbage objects are objects allocated after the starting point and deleted before the end point - in other words, "Garbage objects" is a subset of "Dead objects". But after doing some profiling sessions, I could see that sometimes the number of "Garbage objects" is by far greater than the number of "Dead objects" of the same class (for example System.String). How should I interpret this phenomenon?

  • jQuery add() function and the context of jQuery objects

    - by patrick
    Given the following HTML example... <div id='div1'>div one</div> <div id='div2'>div two</div> ...I found that the following jQuery code... $('#div1').click(function() { var $d = $(this); // Using 'this' instead of '#div1' $d.add('#div2').remove(); }); ...would not add #div2 to the set referenced by $d, but this code... $('#div1').click(function() { var $d = $('#div1'); // Using '#div1' instead of 'this' $d.add('#div2').remove(); }); ...successfully added #div2. Upon consulting firebug, I found that using $(this) gave the jQuery object a context of #div1, but doing $('#div1') gave the object a context of document. Given this information I tried... var $d = $(this, document); ...and the add() function worked as expected. So here's the question. Could someone please explain to my why a different context is assigned when using $(this) vs $('#div1')? Thanks much!

  • Hos to group the complex list objects by using Linq

    - by Daoming Yang
    I want to select and group the products, and rank them by the number of times they occur. For example, I have an OrderList each of order object has a OrderProductVariantList(OrderLineList), and each of OrderProductVariant object has ProductVariant, and then the ProductVariant object will have a Product object which contains product information. A friend helped me with the following code. It could be compiled, but it did not return any value/result. I used the watch window for the query and it gave me "The name 'query' does not exist in the current context". Can anyone help me? Many thanks. var query = orderList.SelectMany( o => o.OrderLineList ) // results in IEnumerable<OrderProductVariant> .Select( opv => opv.ProductVariant ) .Select( pv => p.Product ) .GroupBy( p => p ) .Select( g => new { Product = g.Key, Count = g.Count() });

  • Add custom Model Binders for derived objects and their base

    - by mare
    My class diagram: BaseContentClass Page inherits BaseContentClass Tab inherits BaseContentClass ... If I do this ModelBinders.Binders.Add(typeof(BaseContentObject), new BaseContentObjectCommonPropertiesBinder()); then when in controller action parameter of type Tab appears, custom model binder is not fired. It gets fired if I do this: ModelBinders.Binders.Add(typeof(Tab), new BaseContentObjectCommonPropertiesBinder()); But I don't want to go writing "n" number of Add statements in my global.asax.cs to associate all the derived classes with my custom model binder, do I? I don't know if I have any other option.

  • Accessing jQuery objects in the module pattern

    - by Stewart
    Hello, Really getting in to javascript and looking around at some patterns. One I have come accross is the module pattern. Its seems like a nice way to think of chucks of functionality so I went ahead and tried to implement it with jQuery. I ran in to a snag though. Consider the following code <!DOCTYPE html> <html> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8"> <title>index</title> <script type="text/javascript" charset="utf-8" src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.4.4/jquery.min.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" charset="utf-8"> $(document).ready(function(){ var TestClass2 = (function(){ var someDiv; return { thisTest: function () { someDiv = document.createElement("div"); $(someDiv).append("#index"); $(someDiv).html("hello"); $(someDiv).addClass("test_class"); } } })(); TestClass2.thisTest(); }); </script> </head> <body id="index" onload=""> <div id="name"> this is content </div> </body> </html> The above code alerts the html content of the div and then adds a class. These both use jQuery methods. The problem is that the .html() method works fine however i can not add the class. No errors result and the class does not get added. What is happening here? Why is the class not getting added to the div?

  • Mapping child objects in fluent nhibernate to a read-only view

    - by grenade
    Given that I am implementing a read-only UI, how do I create a ClassMap for Shop: public class Shop { public int Id { get; set; } public City City { get; set; } } public class City { public string Name { get; set; } public string CountryCode { get; set; } } The DB interface for Shops is a View containing 3 columns (ShopId, CityName, CountryCode). I was hoping to do something like this: public sealed class ShopMap : ClassMap<Shop> { public ShopMap() { Table("Shop"); Id(x => x.Id, "ShopId"); Map(x => x.City.Name, "CityName"); Map(x => x.City.CountryCode, "CountryCode"); } } Will fluent auto-instantiate Shop.City?

  • How to create tests for poco objects

    - by Simon G
    Hi, I'm new to mocking/testing and wanting to know what level should you go to when testing. For example in my code I have the following object: public class RuleViolation { public string ErrorMessage { get; private set; } public string PropertyName { get; private set; } public RuleViolation( string errorMessage ) { ErrorMessage = errorMessage; } public RuleViolation( string errorMessage, string propertyName ) { ErrorMessage = errorMessage; PropertyName = propertyName; } } This is a relatively simple object. So my question is: Does it need a unit test? If it does what do I test and how? Thanks

  • What happens with unarchived objects?

    - by Dane Man
    After I've unarchived an object with NSKeyedUnarchiver, I am able to use it like usual, but I am unable to re-archive it. When I try, it crashes. [NSKeyedArchiver archiveRootObject:unarchivedObject toFile:fileName]; I tried looking in the developer resources in apple but I haven't seen a thorough explination of proper usage of NSKeyedArchiver. Please Help.

    - by Codenotguru
    i am new to junit so any help is appreciated. I have a class called sysconfig.java for which i have written a junit class file called TestSysconfig.java that tests some methods in the sysconfig.java. The method that i am testing in sysconfig.java calls another class file "ethipmapping.java" i have created a mock of this class file as Testethipmapping.java. so my question is how do i tell sysconfig.java to call this mock object?

  • Getting random objects from an array, and if the objects are the same, get a new object.

    - by XcodeDev
    Hi, I have made a jokes application, where the user generates a joke and the joke will display in a UILabel. However I am trying to randomise the jokes show, but I do not want to show the same joke twice. Please could you tell me how I could do this. I am using the code below to try and do that, but it seems that it is not working. - (IBAction)generateNewJoke { if (i < [jokeArray count]) { i++; [userDefaults setInteger:[userDefaults integerForKey:kNewIndex] forKey:kOldIndex]; int oldnumber = [userDefaults integerForKey:kOldIndex]; int newnumber = [userDefaults integerForKey:kNewIndex]; [answerLabel setText:@""]; [userDefaults setInteger:i forKey:kNewIndex]; if (oldnumber == newnumber) { NSLog(@"they are the same"); [userDefaults setInteger:arc4random()%[jokeArray count] forKey:kNewIndex]; } [jokeLabel setText:[jokeArray objectAtIndex:[userDefaults integerForKey:kNewIndex]]]; } }

  • frequency of objects in an array using Ruby

    - by eastafri
    If i had a list of balls each of which has a color property. how can i cleanly get the list of balls with the most frequent color. [m1,m2,m3,m4] say, m1.color = blue m2.color = blue m3.color = red m4.color = blue [m1,m2,m4] is the list of balls with the most frequent color My Approach is to do: [m1,m2,m3,m4].group_by{|ball| ball.color}.each do |samecolor| my_items = samecolor.count end where count is defined as class Array def count k =Hash.new(0) self.each{|x|k[x]+=1} k end end my_items will be a hash of frequencies foreach same color group. My implementation could be buggy and i feel there must be a better and more smarter way. any ideas please?

  • Optimizing sorting container of objects with heap-allocated buffers - how to avoid hard-copying buff

    - by Kache4
    I was making sure I knew how to do the op= and copy constructor correctly in order to sort() properly, so I wrote up a test case. After getting it to work, I realized that the op= was hard-copying all the data_. I figure if I wanted to sort a container with this structure (its elements have heap allocated char buffer arrays), it'd be faster to just swap the pointers around. Is there a way to do that? Would I have to write my own sort/swap function? #include <deque> //#include <string> //#include <utility> //#include <cstdlib> #include <cstring> #include <iostream> //#include <algorithm> // I use sort(), so why does this still compile when commented out? #include <boost/filesystem.hpp> #include <boost/foreach.hpp> using namespace std; namespace fs = boost::filesystem; class Page { public: // constructor Page(const char* path, const char* data, int size) : path_(fs::path(path)), size_(size), data_(new char[size]) { // cout << "Creating Page..." << endl; strncpy(data_, data, size); // cout << "done creating Page..." << endl; } // copy constructor Page(const Page& other) : path_(fs::path(other.path())), size_(other.size()), data_(new char[other.size()]) { // cout << "Copying Page..." << endl; strncpy(data_, other.data(), size_); // cout << "done copying Page..." << endl; } // destructor ~Page() { delete[] data_; } // accessors const fs::path& path() const { return path_; } const char* data() const { return data_; } int size() const { return size_; } // operators Page& operator = (const Page& other) { if (this == &other) return *this; char* newImage = new char[other.size()]; strncpy(newImage, other.data(), other.size()); delete[] data_; data_ = newImage; path_ = fs::path(other.path()); size_ = other.size(); return *this; } bool operator < (const Page& other) const { return path_ < other.path(); } private: fs::path path_; int size_; char* data_; }; class Book { public: Book(const char* path) : path_(fs::path(path)) { cout << "Creating Book..." << endl; cout << "pushing back #1" << endl; pages_.push_back(Page("image1.jpg", "firstImageData", 14)); cout << "pushing back #3" << endl; pages_.push_back(Page("image3.jpg", "thirdImageData", 14)); cout << "pushing back #2" << endl; pages_.push_back(Page("image2.jpg", "secondImageData", 15)); cout << "testing operator <" << endl; cout << pages_[0].path().string() << (pages_[0] < pages_[1]?   • Modifying association arrays on cloned ActiveRecord objects

    - by Craig Walker
    I have an ActiveRecord model class Foo that has_many Bar. I want to clone a Foo (to get duplicates of most of its attributes) and then modify its Bar instances. This is a problem because cloned ActiveRecord instances share the same associated array; changes to one affect the other. f1 = Foo.new b = Bar.new f1.bars << b f2 = f1.clone f2.bars.includes? b # true f1.bars.clear f2.bars.includes? b # now false The real problem is that I can't detach the bars arrays from either Foo: f1.bars << b f2.bars.includes? b # true f2.bars = [] f2.bars.includes? b # now false f1.bars.includes? b # now also false If I could do that, then I could replace the Bars as I wanted to. However, any change to one Foo seems to affect the other.

  • Objects do not retain the frame that I give then when using CGAffineTransforms with Core Animation

    - by user170030
    Hi, I'm making a game where when a card is touched, it grows so that it is focused, and when you 'let go', it goes back to its original size and place. This seems pretty standard, however, when I add cards and move the hand around to accommodate different numbers of cards, touching the card makes it go to its original place, and not to the new place. This has been stumping me for a while now Any hints would be much appreciated. Thanks !

  • Model objects versions in Django

    - by pablo
    Hi I'm building an e-commerce website. I have a Product and Order models. It's possible that a customer order a product and then the admin change its price or other fields before the customer actually get it. A possible solution is to add a 'version' field to the Product model. When the admin update a product field I'll add a timestamp and create a new object instead of updating the old one. An Order will have a reference to a specific product version. Does this make sense? Will overriding the Product Save method be sufficient to make it work? Thanks

  • Updating Data through Objects

    - by Chacha102
    So, lets say I have a record: $record = new Record(); and lets say I assign some data to that record: $record->setName("SomeBobJoePerson"); How do I get that into the database. Do I..... A) Have the module do it. class Record{ public function __construct(DatabaseConnection $database) { $this->database = $database; } public function setName($name) { $this->database->query("query stuff here"); $this->name = $name; } } B) Run through the modules at the end of the script class Record{ private $changed = false; public function __construct(array $data=array()) { $this->data = $data; } public function setName($name) { $this->data['name'] = $name; $this->changed = true; } public function isChanged() { return $this->changed; } public function toArray() { return $this->array; } } class Updater { public function update(array $records) { foreach($records as $record) { if($record->isChanged()) { $this->updateRecord($record->toArray()); } } } public function updateRecord(){ // updates stuff } }

  • Rotation of two objects in relation

    - by DMan
    I've got a two sprites- I'll say I have a swing and a person. The swing 'swings' back and forth as I passed a rotation variable into spriteBatch.Draw(). Now I want my person to 'sit' on the swing, and am not sure of how to approach it. Since I want a relative to the swing sprite, I tried personPos=swingPos, but that obviously doesn't work as the swing's position is always the same (it's anchored to a point and swings from there). How would I make the person sprite follow the swinging part of the swing sprite, if that makes any sense?
