    Background: i'm using InstantRails 2.0 I'm wanted to add a new column to an existing table using the following syntax: ruby script/generate migration add_fieldname_to_tablename fieldname:string So I tried ruby script/generate migration add_invites_to_user invites:integer ruby script/generate migration add_invites_to_users invites:integer And to test it further ruby script/generate migration AddInvites ruby script/generate migration AddInvites invites:integer All of the above give me builder.rb:175 in 'build': Illegal route: the :controller must be specified! (ArgumentError)

    Are there any constants in T-SQL like there are in some other languages that provide the max and min values ranges of data types such as int? I have a code table where each row has an upper and lower range column, and I need an entry that represents a range where the upper range is the maximum value an int can hold(sort of like a hackish infinity). I would prefer not to hard code it and instead use something like SET UpperRange = int.Max

    I have two fields, 'from_date' and 'to_date' on my rails form. When a user enters the dates I have to display the number of working days i.e, exclude (sat, sun and a list of other official holidays in a database table). Is this something that should be done in the client side javascript Or is this something that should be done by making an ajax request to rails.   • Best practices for developing simple ASP.NET sites (built in controls or JQuery + scripts)

    I was recently reviewing some code written by two different contractors, both were basic ASP.NET management sites. The sites allowed the user to view and edit data. Pretty much simple CRUD gateways. One group did their best to use built in ASP + AJAX Toolkit controls and did their best to use as many built in controls as possible. I found the code much easier to read and maintain. The other used jQuery and the code is heavily marked up with script blocks which are then used to build pages from javascript files. Which one is more common? The one that basically leveraged embedded HTML markup in scripts controled by javascript files screams readability and maintenance issues? Is this just the way of doing asp dev with jQuery? Assuming the second example happens a lot, are there tools that help facilitate jQuery development with visual studio? Do you think they generated the html somewhere else and just copied it in?     I have created a SQL Server Reporting Services Report Builder 3 report that contains a list of several items from a SharePoint list. I would like the list on the report to be a numbered list, so that when exported to Word, if a user adds another item to the document, the numbering is updated automatically. I can simulate a numbered list by creating a table and using 'RowNumber' in one of the columns, however this does not get rendered as a true numbered list. Is there any way to create a true numbered list in Report Builder 3

  • Is there a simple way to convert MySQL data into Title Case?

    I have a MySQL table where all the data in one column was entered in UPPERCASE, but I need to convert in to Title Case, with recognition of "small words" akin to the Daring Fireball Title Case script. I found this excellent solution for transforming strings to lowercase, but the Title Case function seems to have been left out of my version of MySQL. Is there an elegant way to do this?

When I try to insert/update details it stays on the same page without adding or updating anything into the database table. I really don't know what happened and don't know where start looking. However I have run into an error and not sure why as I have followed exactly what the tutorial says.   • Flex+JPA/Hibernate+BlazeDS+MySQL how to debug this monster?!

    Ok so I'm making a "simple" web app using the technologies from the topic, recently I found http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flex/articles/flex_hibernate.html so I'm following it and I try to apply it to my app, the only difference being I'm working on a Mac and I'm using MAMP for the database (so no command line for me). The thing is I'm having some trouble with retrieving/connecting to the database. I have the remoting-config.xml, persistance.xml, a News.java class (my Entity), a NewsService.java class, a News.as class - all just like in the tutorial. I have of course this line in one of my .mxmls: <mx:RemoteObject id="loaderService" destination="newsService" result="handleLoadResult(event)" fault="handleFault(event)" showBusyCursor="true" /> And my remoting-config.xml looks like this (well part of it): <destination id="newsService"> <properties><source>com.gamelist.news.NewsService</source></properties> </destination> NewsService has a method: public List<News> getLatestNews() { EntityManagerFactory emf = Persistence.createEntityManagerFactory(PERSISTENCE_UNIT); EntityManager em = emf.createEntityManager(); Query findLatestQuery = em.createNamedQuery("news.findLatest"); List<News> news = findLatestQuery.getResultList(); return news; } And the named query is in the News class: @Entity @Table(name="GLT_NEWS") @NamedQueries({ @NamedQuery(name="news.findLatest", query="from GLT_NEWS order by new_date_added limit 5 ") }) The handledLoadResult looks like this: private function handleLoadResult(ev:ResultEvent):void { newsList = ev.result as ArrayCollection; newsRecords = newsList.length; } Where: [Bindable] private var newsList:ArrayCollection = new ArrayCollection(); But when I try to trigger: loaderService.getLatestNews(); nothing happens, newsList is empty.     I assumed that the correct way to preselect a cell in a table view was: - (void)selectRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath animated:(BOOL)animated scrollPosition:(UITableViewScrollPosition)scrollPosition However it does absolutely nothing. Nadda. For context I am building an iPad app and the tableview is deployed from a Popover ViewController. So the tableView is only visible when deployed.
