Hi,
Is it possible for a program to have a large amount of code with a small amount of data? I'm thinking that if there's a large code space there would have to be a large data space.
thanks
I often have a command that processes one file, and I want to run it on every file in a directory. Is there any built-in way to do this?
For example, say I have a program data which outputs an important number about a file:
./data foo
137
./data bar
42
I want to run it on every file in the directory in some manner like this:
map data `ls *`
ls * | map data
to yield output like this:
foo: 137
bar: 42
I am getting the message:
* _NSAutoreleaseNoPool(): Object 0x3f43660 of class UICFFont
autoreleased with no pool in place -
just leaking
I have placed a break point using the symbol _NSAutoreleaseNoPool and the program does break, however, the stack trace does not show me any of my code only some UIView and Core Animation layer code.
Is there a better way to get to the bottom of the issue? There is apparently a thread that does not have an auto release pool, but I can't figure out where.
Thanks.
I am new to iPhone development. I just registered with Apple for the iPhone Developer Program. When I try to build, I am receiving an error:
Code Sign error: a valid provisioning profile matching the application’s identifier could not be found
I'm not sure what is wrong. I tried browsing the Internet but I get confused. Can anyone help me with what I should do?

I am trying to create a map app for iphone and I have a little problem. Every pin on the map has a different name. How can my program know which pin button is pushed so it can get the data from the server. I've created only one detailed view and I don't know how to make this work.
c program that has a parent and n children that acts as follows:

4-loops forever
I would like to use the GCC -fstack-protector-all option on release mode. The main issue is that when there is an override a code is built. I would like to plug something that will just dump the stack and let the program continue. Is there a way to do that?
Modern keyboards have special multimedia keys, e.g. 'Pause/Play' or 'Open Web Browser'. Is it possible to write a program that "presses" these keys?
I would prefer solution in C, but I would accept a language agnostic solution, too.
In what circumstances would updating a UI control from a non-UI thread could cause the processes' handles to continually increase, when using a delegate and .InvokeRequired?
For example:
public delegate void DelegateUIUpdate();
private void UIUpdate()
{
if (someControl.InvokeRequired)
{
someControl.Invoke(new DelegateUIUpdate(UIUpdate));
return;
}
// do something with someControl
}
When this is called in a loop or on timer intervals, the handles for the program consistently increase.

Hey, id like to make this as fast as possible because it gets called A LOT in a program i'm writing, so is there any faster way to initialize a C++ vector to random values than:
double range;//set to the range of a particular function i want to evaluate.
std::vector<double> x(30, 0.0);
for (int i=0;i<x.size();i++) {
x.at(i) = (rand()/(double)RAND_MAX)*range;
}
EDIT:Fixed x's initializer.
I'm trying to convert an old Delphi program I wrote into Java to compile and run on my Android phone. I'm running the Android 2.1 operating system but am using version 1.6 of the SDK.
I have a routine in Delphi where I set the colour of pixels on a canvas individually along the lines of:
image1.canvas.pixels[x, y] := GetMyTColor(x, y);
Is there a Java equivalent to the property on the Canvas:
property Pixels[X, Y: Integer]: TColor
As per subject.
I have some constants hash defined like so:
#define CONST 40
I've set a break point in my program. How do I print the value of that constant? (I know I can just look at the source code, but I want to be sure of it)
Chinese people do not like numbers with a digit 4 in it. I am going to implement a membership program with membership numbers not including the digit 4, say:
number = 3
number.next.has4?
=> true
how the has4? method can be done (efficiently)?
I have a Windows app called via Shell from MS Word that reads and writes to Sqlite. I'm porting it to Mac. On windows I have a batch file:
SQLite3.exe pathtodb\databasename <sqlitecommands.txt
This batch calls the Sqlite command line program, attachs the database, and reads the command from sqlitecommands.txt. The sqlitecommands is dynamically modified(by Word VBA) to read (Select) Write (Update) to/from the database.
What is the format of an applescript to do the same thing in Mac OSX?
I am the technology director at a small nonprofit, and we are in the process of making a new website. We have several proposed mock-ups of different homepage designs, and need to receive input from our board members. Is there an online application/program/framework that will receive and organize user comments? I'm looking for something that will allow commenting while viewing the page, rather than just a message board or wiki.
I'd like to prove that a GUID is not unique in a simple test program.
I expected this to run for hours but it's not working. How can I make it work?
BigInteger begin = new BigInteger((long)0);
BigInteger end = new BigInteger("340282366920938463463374607431768211456",10); //2^128
for(begin; begin<end; begin++)
Console.WriteLine(System.Guid.NewGuid().ToString());
I'm using C#
My iPhone app started logging this error:
lo-hi recycling invariant violated!
followed by:
Program received signal: “EXC_BAD_ACCESS”
whenever I launched it on my iPod (3.1.3) and sometimes when I launch it in the simulator.
What does this error mean, and how can I fix it?
I am using cover-flow in my app. I think this might be the problem.
Thanks in advance.
Hi all, We need to find a way to programatically *link all the tables* in a SQL Server database to an access db. We will be invoking this access database from a program that uses .net/SQL Server 2008.
While invoking the application we would like to add the linked tables so that the users can just run the reports/modules from access without having to worry about linking the tables. Is there a way we can do this?
Thanks!
It's fairly simple to play a sound file, say temp.wav, from Visual Studio C#. I'm looking for a way to do this without temp.wav being locatable from the machine running the program.
IE - I want to read the .WAV file into my solution so that it is somehow inside of my .EXE and be played by it.
Is this possible?
I'm playing with TI-83+ BASIC development. But I want to know if I can
write my code on the computer and compile it, then transfer the
program to the emulator.
