  • Configure UIDatePicker with current locations time

    - by Telkitty
I am using UIDatePicker in my current app, here is how I set a UILabel with the date time string obtained from the UIDatePicker. -(IBAction)AddTimeEnd:(id)sender { NSDate * date = [m_DateTimePicker date]; m_DateTimeLabel.text = [date description]; } Somehow the time I have entered (EST) kept on getting converted to US time in the UILabel. Does anyone know how to fix it? I would like the time entered in UIDatePicker to be consistent with the text in the label (probably the simplest way is set the locale for the UIDatePicker to be the local timezone)?

    - by stalure
I am having a hard time getting video to play in an application that I am working on and I think the answer has to do with the views and view controllers. I have the flow depicted below. When the button is clicked, the audio from the video is playing, but nothing is displayed on screen. Anyone have any ideas? -(IBAction) playMovie { Play Movie Code } ViewController UIScrollView UIView UIButton - (playMovie)

  • touch multi UIViews

    - by user262325
Hello everyone There are a series UIViews arranaged very close. I hope when my finger touchs some of them, my app can detect which UIView touched. Maybe one or two or three.(because the displayed parts of each UIView are too thin). I hope to get the middle x value of the touch, then spread the UIView where the middle x value locates and the UIViews near it. Welcome any comment Thanks interdev

  • memory leaks in Instruments

    - by jj
I'm getting lots of leaks in my code, but none of the leaks point to any of my code (they are all UIKit methods). I'm running 3.0. Could someone tell me how I go about figuring out where these leaks are coming from?

  • Which class will be instanciated

    - by Michael
Say I have 2 subclasses from UIViewController, class A and class B. In Main nib file an object is representing class A and it is set to load file from Secondary nib file. The owner of Secondary nib is of class B. The question is - from which class an object in Main nib file will be instanciated once the nib files unarchived in the memory? The reason this question arised is that I have to take care myself if such reference to external NIB file present, to ensure that the first nib's object and second nib's owner is same. Please correct me if my statement is wrong.

  • UITableView which has sections as alphabets and various rows within each section

    - by lifemoves
Hello I have a database in which I am inserting data by parsing an XML document. Populating the data using Navigation bar control view. I have various NSObjects defined in a class and have populated the data using NSMutableArray. Using UITableview I have populated the data. My question is : I have populated the data with the sections defined in it as alphabets so I have total of 26 sections. Each section has data in form of name. Now when I use cellforrowatIndexpath it does not give me the correct index for row and section together. My code is : (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { static NSString *CellIdentifier = @"Cell"; UITableViewCell *cell = [tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:CellIdentifier]; if (cell == nil) { cell = [[[UITableViewCell alloc] initWithStyle:UITableViewCellStyleDefault reuseIdentifier:CellIdentifier] autorelease]; } /* Index names as in AB ....Z */ NSString *strIndexNames = [arrCharacters objectAtIndex:indexPath.section]; /* object sections has names in each section */ NSArray *arrIndexedCategories = [objSections objectForKey:strIndexNames]; NSString *strName = [arrIndexedCategories objectAtIndex:indexPath.row] ; cell.textLabel.text = strName; cell.accessoryType = UITableViewCellAccessoryDisclosureIndicator; cell.textLabel.font = [UIFont systemFontOfSize:16]; return cell; } Any help whatsoever will be really helpful. • Monotouch creating UIViews with using() blocks

    - by Socram
When i first started using monotouch i found a page with some code samples for simple and frequent tasks... but on some of those code samples i found some things like this one: var imageRect = new RectangleF(0f, 0f, 320f, 109f); using (var myImage = new UIImageView(imageRect)) { myImage.Image = UIImage.FromFile("myImage.png"); myImage.Opaque = true; view.AddSubview(myImage); } The UIImageView is created inside a using() block. I'm a .Net developer and i know what a using() does, but i dont understand why is it used on this example. So my question is if this is the best way of creating views, and what are the differences (if any) of this aproach and creating views without the using() block.

  • What's -mutableSetValueForKey: returning, actually? Is that something special?

    - by dontWatchMyProfile
From the docs: You usually access to-many relationships using mutableSetValueForKey:, which returns a proxy object that both mutates the relationship and sends appropriate key-value observing notifications for you. So this returns an "intelligent" NSMutableSet which automatically lets the context delete objects when they get deleted from the set, and reverse? Is that a proxy object?

  • Why Duplicate the “Release” configuration to "Disctribution"?

    - by Horace Ho
On the Apple guide, there is a step before building the AppStore version: Open the Xcode project and Duplicate the “Release” configuration in the Configurations pane of the project's Info panel. Rename this new configuration “Distribution”. Why this step is needed? Can I skip this step and use the "Release" configuration to build the final version for AppStore?

  • How to create a timer the right way?

    - by mystify
I always have an class which needs to set up a timer for as long as the object is alive. Typically an UIView which does some animation. Now the problem: If I strongly reference the NSTimer I create and invalidate and release the timer in -dealloc, the timer is never invalidated or released because -dealloc is never called, since the run loop maintains a strong reference to the target. So what can I do? If I cant hold a strong ref to the timer object, this is also bad because maybe I need a ref to it to be able to stop it. And a weak ref on a object is not good, because maybe i'm gonna access it when it's gone. So better have a retain on what I want to keep around. How are you guys solving this? must the superview create the timer? is that better? or should i really just make a weak ref on it and keep in mind that the run loop holds a strong ref on my timer for me, as long as it's not invalidated?

  • Difference between [object variable] and object.variable in Obj-C?

    - by John Smith
I was working on a program today and hit this strange bug. I had a UIButton with an action assigned. The action was something like: -(void) someaction:(id) e { if ([e tag]==SOMETAG) { //dostuff } } What confuses me is that when I first wrote it, the if line was if (e.tag==SOMETAG) XCode refused to compile it, saying error: request for member 'tag' in 'e', which is of non-class type 'objc_object*' but I thought the two were equivalent. So under what circumstances are they not the same?

  • Having a problem with simple bool

    - by Code
    Hi guys, I've some really simple code that checks if my bool is == YES but it does not ever enter. NSLog(@"boool %d",self.arrayAlreadyPopulated ); if (self.arrayAlreadyPopulated == YES) { Match *aMatch = [appDelegate.matchScoresArray objectAtIndex:(numMatchCounter)]; aMatch.teamName1 = TeamNameHolder; } else { Match *aMatch = [[Match alloc] init]; aMatch.teamName1 = TeamNameHolder; [appDelegate.matchScoresArray addObject:aMatch]; [aMatch release]; } The debug at the top says that the value of self.arrayAlreadyPopulated is 1 on the 2nd pass as it should be. But it never enters the first first part but jumps down to the 'else' I cant see for the life of me what the problem is. -.- Anybody able to clue me in? Thanks -Code EDIT declaration code int theCounterCauseABoolWontWork; @property (nonatomic) int theCounterCauseABoolWontWork; @synthesize theCounterCauseABoolWontWork;

  • UIView animation cancels previous animation?

    - by user281300
Hi I have an NSTIMER that counts the time, and on t = 10, it fires an animation but during that time it might happen that another animation is running. This causes the previously running animation to cut off. Any idea? i thought UIVIEW animations were ran in diff threads. I cannot use a willstop selector here since t = 10 might happen while another animation is running and might not have ended yet.
