  • edit row in gridview

    - by user576998
Hi.I would like to help me with my code. I have 2 gridviews. In the first gridview the user can choose with a checkbox every row he wants. These rows are transfered in the second gridview. All these my code does them well. Now, I want to edit the quantity column in second gridview to change the value but i don't know what i must write in edit box. Here is my code: using System; using System.Data; using System.Data.SqlClient; using System.Configuration; using System.Web; using System.Web.Security; using System.Web.UI; using System.Web.UI.WebControls; • Thread safety in Singleton

    - by Robert
I understand that double locking in Java is broken, so what are the best ways to make Singletons Thread Safe in Java? The first thing that springs to my mind is: class Singleton{ private static Singleton instance; private Singleton(){} public static synchronized Singleton getInstance(){ if(instance == null) instance = new Singleton(); return instance; } } Does this work? if so, is it the best way (I guess that depends on circumstances, so stating when a particular technique is best, would be useful)

  • Error while creating tests in Visual Studio

    - by Benjol
When I try to generate a unit test for the following method (in a public static class) private static string[] GetFields(string line, char sep) { char[] totrim = { '"', ' ' }; return line.Split(sep).Select(col => col.Trim(totrim)).ToArray(); } The Tests output says: While trying to generate your tests, the following errors occurred: This method or property cannot be called within an event handler. It works if I make the function public - I've tried running Publicize.exe manually, it doesn't complain, but doesn't make any difference either.

  • Bulk inserts into sqlite db on the iphone...

    - by akaii
    I'm inserting a batch of 100 records, each containing a dictonary containing arbitrarily long HTML strings, and by god, it's slow. On the iphone, the runloop is blocking for several seconds during this transaction. Is my only recourse to use another thread? I'm already using several for acquiring data from HTTP servers, and the sqlite documentation explicitly discourages threading with the database, even though it's supposed to be thread-safe... Is there something I'm doing extremely wrong that if fixed, would drastically reduce the time it takes to complete the whole operation? NSString* statement; statement = @"BEGIN EXCLUSIVE TRANSACTION"; sqlite3_stmt *beginStatement; if (sqlite3_prepare_v2(database, [statement UTF8String], -1, &beginStatement, NULL) != SQLITE_OK) { printf("db error: %s\n", sqlite3_errmsg(database)); return; } if (sqlite3_step(beginStatement) != SQLITE_DONE) { sqlite3_finalize(beginStatement); printf("db error: %s\n", sqlite3_errmsg(database)); return; } NSTimeInterval timestampB = [[NSDate date] timeIntervalSince1970]; statement = @"INSERT OR REPLACE INTO item (hash, tag, owner, timestamp, dictionary) VALUES (?, ?, ?, ?, ?)"; sqlite3_stmt *compiledStatement; if(sqlite3_prepare_v2(database, [statement UTF8String], -1, &compiledStatement, NULL) == SQLITE_OK) { for(int i = 0; i < [items count]; i++){ NSMutableDictionary* item = [items objectAtIndex:i]; NSString* tag = [item objectForKey:@"id"]; NSInteger hash = [[NSString stringWithFormat:@"%@%@", tag, ownerID] hash]; NSInteger timestamp = [[item objectForKey:@"updated"] intValue]; NSData *dictionary = [NSKeyedArchiver archivedDataWithRootObject:item]; sqlite3_bind_int( compiledStatement, 1, hash); sqlite3_bind_text( compiledStatement, 2, [tag UTF8String], -1, SQLITE_TRANSIENT); sqlite3_bind_text( compiledStatement, 3, [ownerID UTF8String], -1, SQLITE_TRANSIENT); sqlite3_bind_int( compiledStatement, 4, timestamp); sqlite3_bind_blob( compiledStatement, 5, [dictionary bytes], [dictionary length], SQLITE_TRANSIENT); while(YES){ NSInteger result = sqlite3_step(compiledStatement); if(result == SQLITE_DONE){ break; } else if(result != SQLITE_BUSY){ printf("db error: %s\n", sqlite3_errmsg(database)); break; } } sqlite3_reset(compiledStatement); } timestampB = [[NSDate date] timeIntervalSince1970] - timestampB; NSLog(@"Insert Time Taken: %f",timestampB); // COMMIT statement = @"COMMIT TRANSACTION"; sqlite3_stmt *commitStatement; if (sqlite3_prepare_v2(database, [statement UTF8String], -1, &commitStatement, NULL) != SQLITE_OK) { printf("db error: %s\n", sqlite3_errmsg(database)); } if (sqlite3_step(commitStatement) != SQLITE_DONE) { printf("db error: %s\n", sqlite3_errmsg(database)); } sqlite3_finalize(beginStatement); sqlite3_finalize(compiledStatement); sqlite3_finalize(commitStatement);

  • Help with a logic problem

    - by Stradigos
I'm having a great deal of difficulty trying to figure out the logic behind this problem. I have developed everything else, but I really could use some help, any sort of help, on the part I'm stuck on. Back story: *A group of actors waits in a circle. They "count off" by various amounts. The last few to audition are thought to have the best chance of getting the parts and becoming stars. Instead of actors having names, they are identified by numbers. The "Audition Order" in the table tells, reading left-to-right, the "names" of the actors who will be auditioned in the order they will perform.* Sample output: etc, all the way up to 10. What I have so far: using System; using System.Collections; using System.Text; namespace The_Last_Survivor { class Program { static void Main(string[] args) { //Declare Variables int NumOfActors = 0; System.DateTime dt = System.DateTime.Now; int interval = 3; ArrayList Ring = new ArrayList(10); //Header Console.Out.WriteLine("Actors\tNumber\tOrder"); //Add Actors for (int x = 1; x < 11; x++) { NumOfActors++; Ring.Insert((x - 1), new Actor(x)); foreach (Actor i in Ring) { Console.Out.WriteLine("{0}\t{1}\t{2}", NumOfActors, i, i.Order(interval, x)); } Console.Out.WriteLine("\n"); } Console.In.Read(); } public class Actor { //Variables protected int Number; //Constructor public Actor(int num) { Number = num; } //Order in circle public string Order(int inter, int num) { //Variable string result = ""; ArrayList myArray = new ArrayList(num); //Filling Array for (int i = 0; i < num; i++) myArray.Add(i + 1); //Formula foreach (int element in myArray) { if (element == inter) { result += String.Format(" {0}", element); myArray.RemoveAt(element); } } return result; } //String override public override string ToString() { return String.Format("{0}", Number); } } } } The part I'm stuck on is getting some math going that does this: Can anyone offer some guidance and/or sample code?

  • Unfold vCard lines in shell

vCard lines can be folded by inserting "\r\n " (that's a space at the start of the new line), but I'm struggling to unfold them with the line-oriented GNU tools (sed, cut). Any ideas? Effectively, from the string foo bar baz ban bay bal it must return foobar baz banbaybal

  • What does the * symbol do near a function argument and how to use that in others scenarios?

I am using Ruby on Rails 3 and I would like to know what means the presence of a *simbol near a function argument and to understand its usages in others scenarios. Example scenario (this method was from the Ruby on Rails 3 framework: def find(*args) return to_a.find { |*block_args| yield(*block_args) } if block_given? options = args.extract_options! if options.present? apply_finder_options(options).find(*args) else case args.first when :first, :last, :all send(args.first) else find_with_ids(*args) end end end

  • Do WordPress widget (or sidebar) hooks exist?

    - by Jeff
I'm trying to filter ALL widget output through a simple filter, but can't find any hooks and was hoping to be pointed in the right direction. Or possibly my efforts are not even possible? My simple filter is something like this: function clean_widget_output( $input ) { return str_replace( array( "\t", "\n", "\r" ), '', $input ); } add_[FILTER OR ACTION]( 'need_a_hook', 'clean_widget_output', 99 ); Any ideas? I'm pretty new to PHP, but I can get around.

  • client side application not working as intended while using AsyncSocket

    - by Miraaj
Hi All, I am using AsyncSocket class in a simple client-server application. As a first step I want that - as soon as connection is established between client and server, client transmit a welcome message - "connected to xyz server" to server and server displays it in textview. //The code in ClientController class is: -(void)awakeFromNib{ NSError *error = nil; if (![connectSocket connectToHost:@"192.168.0.32" onPort:25242 error:&error]) { NSLog(@"Error starting client: %@", error); return; } NSLog(@"xyz chat client started on port %hu",[connectSocket localPort]); } - (void)onSocket:(AsyncSocket *)sock didConnectToHost:(NSString *)host port:(UInt16)port{ [sock writeData:[@"connected to xyz server" dataUsingEncoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding] withTimeout:30.0 tag:0]; } - (void)onSocket:(AsyncSocket *)sock didReadData:(NSData *)data withTag:(long)tag{ // some relevant code goes here } - (void)onSocket:(AsyncSocket *)sock didWriteDataWithTag:(long)tag{ NSLog(@"within didWriteDataWithTag:"); // getting this message, means it should have written something to remote socket but // delegate- onSocket:didReadData:withTag: at server side is not getting invoked } // The code in ServerController class is: - (IBAction)startStop:(id)sender{ NSLog(@"startStopAction"); if(!isRunning) { NSError *error = nil; if(![listenSocket acceptOnPort:INPUT_PORT error:&error]) { NSLog(@"Error starting server: %@", error); return; } NSLog(@"Echo server started on port %hu",[listenSocket localPort]); isRunning = YES; [sender setTitle:@"Stop"]; } else { // Stop accepting connections [listenSocket disconnect]; // Stop any client connections int i; for(i = 0; i < [connectedSockets count]; i++) { // Call disconnect on the socket, // which will invoke the onSocketDidDisconnect: method, // which will remove the socket from the list. [[connectedSockets objectAtIndex:i] disconnect]; } NSLog(@"Stopped Echo server"); isRunning = false; [sender setTitle:@"Start"]; } } - (void)onSocket:(AsyncSocket *)sock didAcceptNewSocket:(AsyncSocket *)newSocket{ [connectedSockets addObject:newSocket]; } - (void)onSocket:(AsyncSocket *)sock didConnectToHost:(NSString *)host port:(UInt16)port{ NSLog(@"Accepted client %@:%hu", host, port); // it is getting displayed [sock readDataToData:[AsyncSocket CRLFData] withTimeout:READ_TIMEOUT tag:0]; } - (void)onSocket:(AsyncSocket *)sock didReadData:(NSData *)data withTag:(long)tag{ NSString *msgReceived = [[[NSString alloc] initWithData:data encoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding] autorelease]; NSLog(@"msgReceived in didReadData- %@",msgReceived); // it is not getting displayed [outputView insertText:msgReceived]; [sock readDataToData:[AsyncSocket CRLFData] withTimeout:READ_TIMEOUT tag:0]; } Can anyone suggest me where I may be wrong?? • Django - markup parser in template or view?

    - by Amit Ron
I am building a website where my pages are written in MediaWiki Markup, for which I have a working parser function in Python. Where exactly do I parse my markup: in the view's code, or in the template? My first guess would be something like: return render_to_response( 'blog/post.html', {'post': post, 'content': parseMyMarkup(post.content) }) Is this the usual convention, or should I do something different?

  • ASP.Net HttpHandler ProcessRequest() firing twice

    Hi there, I have a strange issue where i have a a HttpHandler having its ProcessRequest() event firing twice. i have nothing else in the class except a pointer to a static method so i'm lost. I have done some googling to no avail even thought it appears a few people are having similar issues: Code: public bool IsReusable { get { return true; } } public void ProcessRequest(HttpContext context) { Common.Tracker.TrackPageView(context); }

  • Regex validate dates like "Sun, 20 Jun 10"

    - by Trindaz
Hi, I'm working on a regular expression that will only return true when a date string is in a format something like 'ddd, dd mmm yy'. Valid matches would be values like "Sun, 20 Jun 10" or "Mon, 21 Jun 10" but not "Sunday, 20 Jun 10" or "20 Jun 10". This will be used with mb_ereg in PHP. My attempts so far have only got me half way there. Any help appreciated! Thanks, Dave

  • ASP.Net JSON Web Service Post Form Data

    - by Will D
I have a ASP.NET web service decorated with System.Web.Script.Services.ScriptService() so it can return json formatted data. This much is working for me, but ASP.Net has a requirement that parameters to the web service must be in json in order to get json out. I'm using jquery to run my ajax calls and there doesn't seem to be an easy way to create a nice javascript object from the form elements. I have looked at serialiseArray in the json2 library but it doesn't encode the field names as property name in the object. If you have 2 form elements like this <input type="text" name="namefirst" id="namefirst" value="John"/> <input type="text" name="namelast" id="namelast" value="Doe"/> calling $("form").serialize() will get you the standard query string namefirst=John&namelast=Doe calling JSON.stringify($("form").serializeArray()) will get you the (bulky) json representation [{"name":"namefirst","value":"John"},{"name":"namelast","value":"Doe"}] This will work when passing to the web service but its ugly as you have to have code like this to read it in: Public Class NameValuePair Public name As String Public value As String End Class <WebMethod()> _ Public Function GetQuote(ByVal nvp As NameValuePair()) As String End Function You would also have to wrap that json text inside another object nameed nvp to make the web service happy. Then its more work as all you have is an array of NameValuePair when you want an associative array. I might be kidding myself but i imagined something more elegant when i started this project - more like this Public Class Person Public namefirst As String Public namelast As String End Class which would require the json to look something like this: {"namefirst":"John","namelast":"Doe"} Is there an easy way to do this? Obviously it is simple for a form with two parameters but when you have a very large form concatenating strings gets ugly. Having nested objects would also complicate things The cludge I have settled on for the moment is to use the standard name value pair format stuffed inside a json object. This is compact and fast {"q":"namefirst=John&namelast=Doe"} then have a web method like this on the server that parses the query string into an associate array. <WebMethod()> _ Public Function AjaxForm(ByVal q As String) as string Dim params As NameValueCollection = HttpUtility.ParseQueryString(q) 'do stuff return "Hello" End Sub As far a cludges go this one seems reasonably elegant in terms of amount of code, but my question is: is there a better way? Is there a generally accepted way of passing form data to asp.net web/script services?

  • "Null" is null or not an object error in IE javascript

  • Best way to do powerOf(int x, int n)?

    - by Mike
So given x, and power, n, solve for X^n. There's the easy way that's O(n)... I can get it down to O(n/2), by doing numSquares = n/2; numOnes = n%2; return (numSquares * x * x + numOnes * x); Now there's a log(n) solution, does anyone know how to do it? It can be done recursively.

  • iPhone: Speeding up a search that's polling 17,000 Core Data objects

    - by randombits
I have a class that conforms to UISearchDisplayDelegate and contains a UISearchBar. This view is responsible for allowing the user to poll a store of about 17,000 objects that are currently managed by Core Data. Everytime the user types in a character, I created an instance of a SearchOperation (subclasses NSOperation) that queries Core Data to find results that might match the search. The code in the search controller looks something like: - (void)filterContentForSearchText:(NSString*)searchText scope:(NSString*)scope { // Update the filtered array based on the search text and scope in a secondary thread if ([searchText length] < 3) { [filteredList removeAllObjects]; // First clear the filtered array. [self setFilteredList:NULL]; [self.tableView reloadData]; return; } NSDictionary *searchdict = [NSDictionary dictionaryWithObjectsAndKeys:scope, @"scope", searchText, @"searchText", nil]; [aSearchQueue cancelAllOperations]; SearchOperation *searchOp = [[SearchOperation alloc] initWithDelegate:self dataDict:searchdict]; [aSearchQueue addOperation:searchOp]; } And my search is rather straight forward. SearchOperation is a subclass of NSOperation. I overwrote the main method with the following code: - (void)main { if ([self isCancelled]) { return; } NSAutoreleasePool *pool = [[NSAutoreleasePool alloc] init]; NSEntityDescription *entity = [NSEntityDescription entityForName:@"MyEntity" inManagedObjectContext:managedObjectContext]; NSFetchRequest *fetchRequest = [[NSFetchRequest alloc] init]; [fetchRequest setEntity:entity]; NSPredicate *predicate = NULL; predicate = [NSPredicate predicateWithFormat:@"(someattr contains[cd] %@)", searchText]; [fetchRequest setPredicate:predicate]; NSError *error = NULL; NSArray *fetchResults = [managedObjectContext executeFetchRequest:fetchRequest error:&error]; [fetchRequest release]; if (self.delegate != nil) [self.delegate didFinishSearching:fetchResults]; [pool drain]; } This code works, but it has several issues. It's slow. Even though I have the search happening in a separate thread other than the UI thread, querying 17,000 objects is clearly not optimal. If I'm not careful, crashes can happen. I set the max concurrent searches in my NSOperationQueue to 1 to avoid this. What else can I do to make this search faster? I think preloading all 17,000 objects into memory might be risky. There has to be a smarter way to conduct this search to give results back to the user faster.
