• Blog not even ranking for exact title match, after domain has been dropped twice [on hold]

  Consider a blog, related to blogging and SEO. The domain has been dropped (expired) 2 times before acquisition. The current owner is the 3rd owner of the domain since 5 months. Blog posts are not ranking, even for exact titles. Google+ or other shares will show up instead of the content. Some blog posts are not even indexed. Let us TAKE that it gets around 7 organic visits / day. Dropped domain, less likely used for spam (WayBack machine (2 Reframed drops) 3 captures since 2004, Don't know whether there was Email spam) (But no manual actions in WMT, so no reconsideration request). What could be the reason for this? How can Google be told that ownership is changed and the domain is now spam-free? Would this domain be salvageble, or does this only change after relocating to another domain?

• Windows is not available in GRUB's boot menu, but Windows Recovery is available

  I had Windows Vista installed on a laptop. I have installed separately Ubuntu, wanting to have a dual-boot system. Now, Ubuntu works OK, but I am unable to boot into Windows. GRUB menu provides me with two entries: "Windows Vista (loader)" and "Windows Recovery Environment (loader)". However, BOTH boot into recovery environment. Running sudo update-grub does not change anything. I use an up-to-date 10.10.

• Mouse Not Working on Boot

  I have seen several topics regarding this situation, but none of them truly address my issue (that, or there are no answers that solve the issue.) Upon booting into Ubuntu 12.04.1 x64 my mouse wired USB mouse (Steelseries Sensei if that makes any difference) either doesn't work or stops working immediately after the grub menu, prior to the login screen appearing. The cursor is present, but obviously not reactive to any mouse movement; even the LED on my mouse turns off (or fails to turn on.) The only way I've found to activate the mouse is to restart the computer, and even then it's 50/50 at best as to whether or not the mouse will be powered. This issue has never happened in Windows 7, so the mouse is operating properly on the hardware and connection side. Forgive my ignorance of Ubuntu (and Linux in general), but I was hopeful that someone would have some suggestions, or could at least instruct me on what to check in order to provide any further information for diagnoses.

• Mp3s synced on Ubuntu One not showing up under artist or album

  I have synced approximately 10GB of music with U1 over the last 48 hours. Nearly everything appears OK: the songs are tagged correctly, I can queue and play them. However, with the exception of a few that I uploaded first, all of them don't appear under Artist or Album and I can't use the search to find them. I can only find them under Song. Am I just being impatient and U1 just needs time to index these mp3s, or is something wrong?

• Sound not working for uid=1003 but working fine for uid=1000

  Sounds works for uid=1000, but not for the main user on the system, running with uid=1003. Upon boot, the Ubuntu chime clearly plays. When the user is logged in, sound test shows no input device. I looked at several of the previous questions, added the user to audio, video, pulse, pulse-access --- but still no luck. To recap: This worked perfectly in 11.04, 11.10, 12.04. It works for the default user uid=1000, it does not work for the actual user. The differing group memberships are mainly for adm, admin, sudo and the like.

I searched with exact URL for a category, still related results are shown instead of category page. I have checked google webmaster and there are no crawling error or any other error message, so i am really confused what might be the problem. • TrippLite program not recognizing UPS via USB after reboot

  I am having trouble with the TrippLite Poweralert Console Program. It is a OpenSUSE version because there is no version for Ubuntu or Debain. I install the program, it works, but as soon as i restart my computer, i assume something happens to the files, but when i try to load the program after reboot, it does not recognize my UPS. • How come verification does not include actual testing?

  Having read a lot about this topic, I still did not get it. Verification should prove that you are building the product right, while validation you build the right product. But only static techniques are mentioned as being verification methods (code reviews, requirements checks...). But how can you say if its implemented correctly if you do not test it? It is said that verification checks e.g. code for its correctnes. Verification - ensure that the product meet specified requirements. Again, if the function is specified to work somehow, only by testing I can say that it does. Could anyone explain this to me please?   My site is only 3 days to be 6 months old. This website is unique, that is there is no competitor to this type site in India, providing comparison of payment gateways in India, besides the payment gateways companies itself. I've optimized it for key word : "payment gateway" I've changed the url's twice, latest being 3 months back, in which case Google Webmaster gave plently of 404's. I corrected the useful 404's and left meaningless ones as it is. What is the reason it's not ranking well for payment gateways? Even site with single page about "Payment gateways" seem to be ranking better than this. Is it does to: 1) Lot of outbound links to in-context companies and information 2) 404's as reported in Google Webmaster My another site is successfully getting 1500 unique visitors daily and is up in Google ranking. I don't know why it is not!

  i have problem. My bootable usb stick not boots any linux distribution.. it just stop at BIOS, like before turning on OS, but it does nothing. Windows xp/7/8.1 installs boots perfectly. It stopped booting every linux dist. after windows 8.1 installation. Later i deleted windows 8.1 and installed windows 7, and now i want to install ubuntu from usb, but i cant(From disk every linuxOS boots perfectly but not from usb) My computer now is like ~7years old. Specs: CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+ Motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-M56S-S3 Video card: Nvidia n210 EDIT: It boots on my other laptop..its bootable, but from this.. NOpe, only windows installs

  I downloaded from first link on http://lubuntu.net/ Burned a DVD with CD Burner XP in another PC , and at the main computer changed BIOS boot setting to look at CD DVD driver first. Now at the main computer there is an old Ubuntu 8 Hardy Heron. There is no direction when i put new burned DVD at DVD driver. Where am i wrong? Is there something that i misunderstand, for example lubuntu is really an OS which can be installed on harddisk?

• Unity Search Not Working

  When I attempt a search after hitting Super, the spinner spins, but no results come up once the spinning stops. I'm not sure what changed that caused this. I had a newer kernel installed, but I have since reverted back to the default kernel. But search still doesn't function correctly.

• yahoo media player not working

  I have a yahoo media player embedded in my webpage. I am currently using Ruby on Rails to create/edit my web page. When i click the play button next to a track the YMP waits a while and then goes to the next track without playing the first one. I then get a warning on my second (last) track that its file could not be found. Does anyone has a better recommendation for an audio player or a way to fix this one?

In the "Network" setting window, I only see "Wired" and "Network proxy". Wireless has just disappeared: rfkill list all 0: hci0: Bluetooth Soft blocked: no Hard blocked: no and that's it! Nothing about the wireless controller... Any suggestions?

• sbackup: can not mount FTP automatically

  In the sbackup configuration GUI i set the ftp://user:pw@online/storage and it's marked as successfully connected. After daily backup time, I checked the ftp and it was empty. In the error mail it says: Error in _do_mount: volume doesn't implement mount [ERROR_NOT_SUPPORTED - Operation not supported for the current backend.] Unable to mount: volume doesn't implement mount File access manager not initialized When restarting the sbackup GUI, it is no longer connected to the ftp and i have to click the button again to connect the remote directory - although it still knows my user/pw. How to save this permanently?

• Ubuntu One Preferences does not show usage, name, e-mail, current plan

  Ubuntuone is correctly synchronizing selected files between two computers running Ubuntu 10.10. When I open Ubuntuone Preferences, Account tab, on one computer it does not display the usage, name e-mail or current plan. On the other computer all information is shown correctly. On the Devices tab the 2 computers are not shown. They do show correctly on the other computer. Any ideas on how to fix this problem. I have reinstalled Ubuntuone per this link.

  I am trying to run eve off the latest version of wine. It was running just fine yesterday, now I go to start it and it tells me that I need shader model version 3.0.   I have a platformer that is in progress, part of this has a camera which I only want to move when the character moves out of a certain threshold, to try to accomplish this I have the following if statement: if(((Mathf.Abs(target.transform.position.x))-(Mathf.Abs(transform.position.x)))>thres){ x = moveTo(transform.position.x, target.position.x, trackSpeed); } in unity/c#. In pseudocode it means if((absolute value of player x) - (absolute value of camera x) is greater than the threshold){ move { however this does not seem to work correctly. it appears to work for the first couple of times the threshold is reached, however the distance between the camera and the player has to increase every time for the camera to move. I do not believe the movement of the camera is the problem, however the code for it is as follows: private float moveTo(float n, float target, float accel) { if (n == target) { return n; } else { float dir = Mathf.Sign(target - n); n += accel * Time.deltaTime * dir; return (dir == Mathf.Sign(target-n))? n: target; } } }

• eGalax Touchscreen not working Jolicloud 1.2

  I have an eGalax touchscreen on an Acer Aspire One running Jolicloud 1.2 I have had success getting this touchscreen to work correctly on ubuntu 10.04NBR, 11.04 and Kubuntu 12.04 and Puppy Linux, so I am pretty happy with how it SHOULD be done. However, I cannot get it to calibrate correctly or remember calibration settings. I have installed the eGalax utility (all available versions) and it does not recognize the screen. Xinput_calibrator works but the config cannot be made permanent. Problems I have identified: -Joli doesn't have an xorg.conf file and does not use xorg.conf.d for evdev configuration -Setting configs through Hal doesn't work anymore The best I can get is a poorly adjusted touchscreen with a reversed Y axis. Any help greatly appreciated

• HP Envy Beats Edition can play CDs, but not DVDs

  After a fresh install, and various other tests (troubleshooting), I have concluded that my laptop (an HP Envy 14 - Beats Edtion) will not play DVDs, however it will play CDs. When I first got the laptop, up until recently it played DVDs perfectly, I doubt there is a hardware issue sees as it loads the DVDs and can view the files in them, but not play them, as well as read and work with CDs perfectly. Was there an update or something of the like that may have caused this? If so, is there a fix? I typically use this laptop 's HDMI out with my TV as a DVD player... so it would be very beneficial if there was a solution to this problem. There was a similar issue with the touchpad that there was a fix for... so I'm hoping that this is something similar
