  • Acquire Internet Explorer window position

    - by Ilya
    How do I get in Internet Explorer values equivalent to: window.outerWidth and window.outerHeight in Firefox ? I've seen some "solution": window.screenLeft and window.screenTop but it is not correct. These properties give inner dimensions. I resize a window and I need values to use with window.resizeTo() later, to restore original size after.

  • getting the names of elements in JS/jQuery

    - by Mala
    I have some checkbox inputs like so: <input type="checkbox" name="1" class="filter"/> <input type="checkbox" name="2" class="filter"/> ...etc... I'm trying to write a function where any time a checkbox is selected, it generates a string with all the names concatenated. Here's what I have so far: $('.filter').click(function(event){ var filters = $('.filter').toArray(); var fstr = ""; for (f in filters) { fstr = fstr+","+f.name; } alert(fstr); }); The names keep coming up as 'undefined', though (i.e. the alert returns ,undefined,undefined,undefined,undefined,undefined,undefined). How do I access the names?

  • Margin for select option in IE and chrome is not working

    - by Sardor
    I am setting a css class to some select options in JS. This class includes margin style. It is working in the FF but not in IE and chrome. window.onload = function() { replace('edit-field-region-tid'); replace('edit-tid'); } function replace(id) { var i = 0; var s = document.getElementById(id); for (i; i < s.options.length; i++) { if (find(s.options[i].text, id, i)) { s.options[i].setAttribute("class", "sub_options"); } } } function find(str, id, option_id) { var i; var s = document.getElementById(id); for (i = 0; i < str.length; i++) { if (str.charAt(i) == '-') { s.options[option_id].text = str.cutAt(0, ""); return true; } } return false; } String.prototype.cutAt = function(index, char) { return this.substr(index+1, this.length); } And CSS: .sub_options{ margin-left:20px; text-indent:-2px; } Any ideas thanks!

  • How to call a prototyped function from within the prototyped "class"?

    - by Jorge
    function FakeClass(){}; FakeClass.prototype.someMethod = function(){}; FakeClass.prototype.otherMethod = function(){ //need to call someMethod() here. } I need to call someMethod from otherMethod, but apparently it doesn't work. If i build it as a single function (not prototyped), i can call it, but calling a prototyped does not work. How can i do it as if i was treating the function just like a class method?

I found this article http://jonraasch.com/blog/css-rounded-corners-in-all-browsers and I've followed instructions step by step multiple times, here is my css : #content_wrapper{ -moz-border-radius:25px 25px 25px 25px; -webkit-border-radius: 25px; -khtml-border-radius: 25px; border-radius: 25px; background-color:#F2DADC; border:25px solid #ECD3D5; height:780px; opacity:0.7; width:747px; margin:0px auto; position:relative; display:block; zoom:1; } <!--[if lte IE 8]> <style> #content_wrapper{ behavior: url(template/css/border-radius.htc); border-radius: 20px; } </style> <![endif]--> Can somebody point me what am I doing wrong or is there a better way to achieve the same effect, its working in all browsers except in IE

  • Can't retrieve an id through swfupload

    - by RichieH
    I'm having trouble retrieving an echoed ajax response through SWFupload. Upon uploading a file, my account.php?action=uploadphotographs echos the number 37, the text field hidFileId should then be updated with this data. I'm not sure if the file is ever properly being submitted. Is there something wrong with my code? Heres a link to my SWFUpload code: http://pastie.org/962656 Thanks a lot!

  • Tips on how to refactor this unwieldy upvote/downvote code

    - by bob_cobb
    Basically this code is for an upvote/downvote system and I'm basically Incrementing the count by 1 when voting up Decrementing the count by 1 when voting down If the number of downvotes upvotes, we'll assume it's a negative score, so the count stays 0 Reverting the count back to what it originally was when clicking upvote twice or downvote twice Never go below 0 (by showing negative numbers); Basically it's the same scoring scheme reddit uses, and I tried to get some ideas from the source which was minified and kind of hard to grok: a.fn.vote = function(b, c, e, j) { if (reddit.logged && a(this).hasClass("arrow")) { var k = a(this).hasClass("up") ? 1 : a(this).hasClass("down") ? -1 : 0, v = a(this).all_things_by_id(), p = v.children().not(".child").find(".arrow"), q = k == 1 ? "up" : "upmod"; p.filter("." + q).removeClass(q).addClass(k == 1 ? "upmod" : "up"); q = k == -1 ? "down" : "downmod"; p.filter("." + q).removeClass(q).addClass(k == -1 ? "downmod" : "down"); reddit.logged && (v.each(function() { var b = a(this).find(".entry:first, .midcol:first"); k > 0 ? b.addClass("likes").removeClass("dislikes unvoted") : k < 0 ? b.addClass("dislikes").removeClass("likes unvoted") : b.addClass("unvoted").removeClass("likes dislikes") }), a.defined(j) || (j = v.filter(":first").thing_id(), b += e ? "" : "-" + j, a.request("vote", {id: j,dir: k,vh: b}))); c && c(v, k) } }; I'm trying to look for a pattern, but there are a bunch of edge cases that I've been adding in, and it's still a little off. My code (and fiddle): $(function() { var down = $('.vote-down'); var up = $('.vote-up'); var direction = up.add(down); var largeCount = $('#js-large-count'); var totalUp = $('#js-total-up'); var totalDown = $('#js-total-down'); var totalUpCount = parseInt(totalUp.text(), 10); var totalDownCount = parseInt(totalDown.text(), 10); var castVote = function(submissionId, voteType) { /* var postURL = '/vote'; $.post(postURL, { submissionId : submissionId, voteType : voteType } , function (data){ if (data.response === 'success') { totalDown.text(data.downvotes); totalUp.text(data.upvotes); } }, 'json'); */ alert('voted!'); }; $(direction).on('click', direction, function () { // The submission ID var $that = $(this), submissionId = $that.attr('id'), voteType = $that.attr('dir'), // what direction was voted? [up or down] isDown = $that.hasClass('down'), isUp = $that.hasClass('up'), curVotes = parseInt($that.parent().find('div.count').text(), 10); // current vote castVote(submissionId, voteType); // Voted up on submission if (voteType === 'up') { var alreadyVotedUp = $that.hasClass('likes'), upCount = $that.next('div.count'), dislikes = $that.nextAll('a').first(); // next anchor attr if (alreadyVotedUp) { // Clicked the up arrow and previously voted up $that.toggleClass('likes up'); if (totalUpCount > totalDownCount) { upCount.text(curVotes - 1); largeCount.text(curVotes - 1); } else { upCount.text(0); largeCount.text(0); } upCount.css('color', '#555').hide().fadeIn(); largeCount.hide().fadeIn(); } else if (dislikes.hasClass('dislikes')) { // Voted down now are voting up if (totalDownCount > totalUpCount) { upCount.text(0); largeCount.text(0); } else if (totalUpCount > totalDownCount) { console.log(totalDownCount); console.log(totalUpCount); if (totalDownCount === 0) { upCount.text(curVotes + 1); largeCount.text(curVotes + 1); } else { upCount.text(curVotes + 2); largeCount.text(curVotes + 2); } } else { upCount.text(curVotes + 1); largeCount.text(curVotes + 1); } dislikes.toggleClass('down dislikes'); upCount.css('color', '#296394').hide().fadeIn(200); largeCount.hide().fadeIn(); } else { if (totalDownCount > totalUpCount) { upCount.text(0); largeCount.text(0); } else { // They clicked the up arrow and haven't voted up yet upCount.text(curVotes + 1); largeCount.text(curVotes + 1).hide().fadeIn(200); upCount.css('color', '#296394').hide().fadeIn(200); } } // Change arrow to dark blue if (isUp) { $that.toggleClass('up likes'); } } // Voted down on submission if (voteType === 'down') { var alreadyVotedDown = $that.hasClass('dislikes'), downCount = $that.prev('div.count'); // Get previous anchor attribute var likes = $that.prevAll('a').first(); if (alreadyVotedDown) { if (curVotes === 0) { if (totalDownCount > totalUp) { downCount.text(curVotes); largeCount.text(curVotes); } else { if (totalUpCount < totalDownCount || totalUpCount == totalDownCount) { downCount.text(0); largeCount.text(0); } else { downCount.text((totalUpCount - totalUpCount) + 1); largeCount.text((totalUpCount - totalUpCount) + 1); } } } else { downCount.text(curVotes + 1); largeCount.text(curVotes + 1); } $that.toggleClass('down dislikes'); downCount.css('color', '#555').hide().fadeIn(200); largeCount.hide().fadeIn(); } else if (likes.hasClass('likes')) { // They voted up from 0, and now are voting down if (curVotes <= 1) { downCount.text(0); largeCount.text(0); } else { // They voted up, now they are voting down (from a number > 0) downCount.text(curVotes - 2); largeCount.text(curVotes - 2); } likes.toggleClass('up likes'); downCount.css('color', '#ba2a2a').hide().fadeIn(200); largeCount.hide().fadeIn(200); } else { if (curVotes > 0) { downCount.text(curVotes - 1); largeCount.text(curVotes - 1); } else { downCount.text(curVotes); largeCount.text(curVotes); } downCount.css('color', '#ba2a2a').hide().fadeIn(200); largeCount.hide().fadeIn(200); } // Change the arrow to red if (isDown) { $that.toggleClass('down dislikes'); } } return false; }); });? Pretty convoluted, right? Is there a way to do something similar but in about 1/3 of the code I've written? After attempting to re-write it, I find myself doing the same thing so I just gave up halfway through and decided to ask for some help (fiddle of most recent).

  • Adobe AIR canvas dimensions messed up

    - by Nikhil
    I'm messing about with Canvas in Adobe Air. But their seems to be some issue with the mouse coordinates. The more I click towards the right, the difference between the draw position and actual click increases. My code is Wb.canvas.fillRect(evt.clientX-canvasTag.clientX, evt.clientY-canvasTag.clientY, 50, 50);

  • Is there a way to create my own "push pins" for a image without using Google Maps API?

    - by Charlie
    I am interested in working with friends via the internet on a fantasy world map. One of the things I want to do is host an image of the map online and allow us to insert push pins into the image that would then be associated with infoboxes. I don't want to resort to using the Google Map APIs mainly because this is something I want to just share among friends and not publicly. Terms of usage for the APIs state we would need to make the implementation available for everyone. This seems simple enough yet I've no idea how to do this. I looked into image maps, but that requires constant updates to the html markup itself. I just want to insert/delete/edit pushpins and infoboxes on the image and through our site itself. Can someone help me get started?

  • jQuery fade li elemet and cycle it when mouse hovered.

    - by Pennf0lio
    I'm trying to recreate an effect in jQuery, where an element(<li> <img>) will be cycled and has a fading effect when hovered. The '<li>' contains '<img>' (image screenshots). when the mouse is on top of element it will keep cycling all that are in '<ul>' with a fading effect. when the mouse is away it will stop cycling the list. I also want to add a pager where you can navigate to the list. My Existing Code: link text My Problem: The current code has some problem with the pagination, it added all images that can be seen on the code. instead of 1-8 only, it continued to add another 1-8 and another. Second problem is, It also start cycling and fading when the page loads. The cycling and fading should only be working when the mouse is on top of the element. I don't know if the 'Cycle Plugin' is really required on this approach, I wan't it to be minimal as much as possible. I just use 'Cycle Plugin' because it's a quick answer to my problem. The effect i'm trying to achieve: link text (WARNING: Contains some Pornography), Sorry of my example, I tried finding other alternative but no luck. Thanks and merry xmas!

  • jQuery infinite loop w/ tablesorter

    - by Wells
    Got myself in a funny situation: page has three tables. Using sortEnd, any time you sort one table, it sorts the other three. However, since I bound sortEnd to the function that does the sorting, you get a infinite loop of sorting/resorting. It looks like: $("table.tablesorter").tablesorter({widgets: ['zebra']}).bind("sortEnd", function() { $(this).find("th.headerSortDown,.headerSortUp").each(function(i) { index = $(this).attr("cellIndex"); order = ($(this).is(".headerSortDown")) ? 1 : 0; $("table.tablesorter").tablesorter({sortList: [[index,order]]}); }); }); Any tips on how to clean this up?

    - by John Isaacks
    I have a thumb nail inside another div, when the thumbnail is hovered I want the parent div to fade/transition to the background of the thumbnail, then fade back to the original image after hover. I have this so far which changes the parent background to that of the thumbnail and back but with no transition. $(document).ready(function() { var originalBG; var hoverBG; $(".alt-img").hover( function () { originalBG = $(this).parent().css('backgroundImage'); hoverBG = $(this).css('backgroundImage'); $(this).parent().css('backgroundImage',hoverBG); }, function () { $(this).parent().css('backgroundImage',originalBG); } ); });

  • jQuery Validator - Dynamic Text

    Adding a validator to my form: jQuery.validator.addMethod('whatever', function(val, el) { // whatever goes here }, 'A maximum of ' + $('#my_id_here').val() + ' categories can be selected.'); This doesn't fly. I always get undefined. Is this a good, simple way to do this? Thanks

  • how did i break :method -> :delete

    - by Tallboy
    i refactored my entire application and gave it a whole new design. The one thing that seems to be broken is all the original link_to methods I had which were :method = :delete are now getting sent as a GET request. The only thing I did that I can remember that might cause it is delete jquery-rails from the gemfile (I'm just getting it from google ajax). Does anyone have any other ideas what I could have deleted?

  • problems piping in node.js

    - by alvaizq
    We have the following example in node.js var http = require('http'); http.createServer(function(request, response) { var proxy = http.createClient(8083, '127.0.0.1') var proxy_request = proxy.request(request.method, request.url, request.headers); proxy_request.on('response', function (proxy_response) { proxy_response.pipe(response); response.writeHead(proxy_response.statusCode, proxy_response.headers); }); setTimeout(function(){ request.pipe(proxy_request); },3000); }).listen(8081, '127.0.0.1'); The example listen to a request in 127.0.0.1:8081 and sends it to a dummy server (always return 200 OK status code) in 127.0.0.1:8083. The problem is in the pipe among the input stream (readable) and output stream (writable) when we have a async module before (in this case the setTimeOut timing). The pipe doesn't work and nothing is sent to dummy server in 8083 port. Maybe, when we have a async call (in this case the setTimeOut) before the pipe call, the inputstream change to a state "not readable", and after the async call the pipe doesn't send anything. This is just an example...we test it with more async modules from node.js community with the same result (ldapjs, etc)... We try to fix it with: - request.readable =true; //before pipe call - request.pipe(proxy_request, {end : false}); with the same result (the pipe doesn't work). Can anybody help us? Many thanks in advanced and best regards,

  • How to get final destination URL from AJAX?

    - by Maurice Lam
    When I do an XMLHttpRequest, I always get redirected automatically to the URL (presumably by the headers of the response). For example, if I query "http://www.stackoverflow.com" I will be redirected to "http://stackoverflow.com". How can I get that final URL? (http://stackoverflow.com/ in the example) I checked in the response headers but I cannot seem to find it. (I just used the GET/POST method not HEAD).
