  • Concatenating text in an ASP.NET localized label

    Trying to localize text in ASP.NET labels... want to add a ':' after the localized text. I could just add the ':' to the localized text in the resource file, but that seems silly... there should be an easy way to do this. <asp:Label id="RoleTypeLabel" runat="server" Text='<%$ Resources: GS3, RoleTypeLabel %>:' AssociatedControlID="RoleTypeDropDown"></asp:Label> (note the ':' at the end of Text='...') Of course, this doesn't work... and neither does anything I can think of to concatenate a ':' onto the end of the localized text. Anyone know how to do it? TIA, James

  • LINQ InsertOnSubmit Required Fields needed for debugging

    Hi All, I've been using the ADO.NET Strogly-Typed DataSet model for about 2 years now for handling CRUD and stored procedure executions. This past year I built my first MVC app and I really enjoyed the ease and flexibility of LINQ. Perhaps the biggest selling point for me was that with LINQ I didn't have to create "Insert" stored procedures that would return the SCOPE_IDENTITY anymore (The auto-generated insert statements in the DataSet model were not capable of this without modification). Currently, I'm using LINQ with ASP.NET 3.5 WebForms. My inserts are looking like this: ProductsDataContext dc = new ProductsDataContext(); product p = new product { Title = "New Product", Price = 59.99, Archived = false }; dc.products.InsertOnSubmit(p); dc.SubmitChanges(); int productId = p.Id; So, this product example is pretty basic, right, and in the future, I'll probably be adding more fields to the database such as "InStock", "Quantity", etc... The way I understand it, I will need to add those fields to the database table and then delete and re-add the tables to the LINQ to SQL Class design view in order to refresh the DataContext. Does that sound right? The problem is that any new fields that are non-null are NOT caught by the ASP.NET build processes. For example, if I added a non-null field of "Quantity" to the database, the code above would still build. In the DataSet model, the stored procedure method would accept a certain amount of parameters and would warn me that my Insert would fail if I didn't include a quantity value. The same goes for LINQ stored procedure methods, however, to my knowledge, LINQ doesn't offer a way to auto generate the insert statements and that means I'm back to where I started. The bottom line is if I used insert statements like the one above and I add a non-null field to my database, it would break my app in about 10-20 places and there would be no way for me to detect it. Is my only option to do a solution-side search for the keyword "products.InsertOnSubmit" and make sure the new field is getting assigned? Is there a better way? Thanks!

index has a low number of unique values. The thing is that the first index of this column is a unique primary key. So am I correct in assuming that a skip scan is the wrong thing to do here? Also, what kind of scan should it be doing? Should I do some more hinting for this query? EDIT: I should also point out that the query's where clause uses the columns in IDX_MBR_IDENTFN and no columns other than what's in that index. So as far as I can tell, I'm not skipping any columns.

  • asp.net InsertCommand to return latest insert ID

    Dear all, I'm unable to retrieve the latest inserted id from my SQL Server 2000 db using a typed dataset in asp.NET I have created a tableadapter and I ticked the "Refresh datatable" and "Generate Insert, Update and Delete statements". This auto-generates the Fill and GetData methods, and the Insert, Update, Select and Delete statements. I have tried every possible solution in this thread http://forums.asp.net/t/990365.aspx but I'm still unsuccesfull, it always returns 1(=number of affected rows). I do not want to create a seperate insert method as the auto-generated insertCommand perfectly suits my needs. As suggested in the thread above, I have tried to update the InsertCommand SQL syntax to add SELECT SCOPY_IDENTITY() or something similar, I have tried to add a parameter of type ReturnValue, but all I get is the number of affected rows. Does anyone has a different take on this? Thanks in advance! Stijn

    I am currently learning to create custom controls in WPF. I successfully created a simple custom control using a Label and a Text Box. I was able to allow setting the Label text by DependencyProperty. Now I am creating a user control that has a ComboBox. I need to allow adding items to this ComboBox from outside the control. To achieve this, I tried exposing a DependencyProperty of type ItemsCollection and it will allows access to the ComboBox's Items property (the DP in my control sample is named 'CbItems'). But I get errors because Items property of Combobox is ReadOnly.     I have both 2003 and 2007 Excel versions installed on my machine. The current source code uses Office11 (2003) interop assembly Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel.dll to create the Excel template. When I create the template and open in Excel 2007, it opens perfectly.     I am trying to populate GridView, using EntityDataSource(code behind), I need to able to sort GridView.     Hi. I'm trying to make a simple crossword puzzle game in Silverlight 2.0. I'm working on a UserControl-ish component that represents a square in the puzzle. I'm having trouble with binding up my UserControl's properties with its' elements. I've finally (sort of) got it working (may be helpful to some - it took me a few long hours), but wanted to make it more 'elegant'. I've imagined it should have a compartment for the content and a label (in the upper right corner) that optionally contains its' number. The content control probably be a TextBox, while label control could be a TextBlock.   • Zend Framework - tinyMCE - plugin folders are mistaken to be controllers? Help

    Hi guys I'm trying to integrate the tinymce plugin however I'm running into problems such that almost every feature which requires a plugin to be rendered i.e the add url popup or add image pop up - it opens an empty pop up window. Even if I try to open it inline I get the same blank popup window.. I noticed that whenever I click on lets say url button in tinymCE it opens with reference to my localhost and because of that I'm assuming my application is mistaking the containing javascript folder to be some controller or action. How can I fix this please - I've set up mod rewrite to allow clean urls as well as ignore the javascript folder but this is a different issue altogether :( what should I be looking at here.. I can't notice any error sin firebug..

I have tried every angle I could find to edit the drupal function menu_item_link which is used by nice menus to build the links. E.g. I looked at the drupal forum for two days and no joy.     Hi All, I've got a method that returns a List for a DataSet table public static List<string> GetListFromDataTable(DataSet dataSet, string tableName, string rowName) { int count = dataSet.Tables[tableName].Rows.Count; List<string> values = new List<string>(); // Loop through the table and row and add them into the array for (int i = 0; i < count; i++) { values.Add(dataSet.Tables[tableName].Rows[i][rowName].ToString()); } return values; } Is there a way I can dynamically set the datatype for the list and have this one method cater for all datatypes so I can specify upon calling this method that it should be a List<int or List<string> or List<AnythingILike>? Also, what would the return type be when declaring the method? Thanks in advance, Brett
