  • In an iPhone app, is it beneficial to tile a background image that has a pattern in it?

    - by Dr Dork
    Here's an example of the type of background image I'm talking about, the iPhone Notes app... Clearly, there's a pattern in it. My question is, if this were an iPad app and the background image was twice the size, would there be any significant benefits to taking advantage of this pattern by tiling the image? Or would it really make no difference in terms of performance and just be easier to load the entire image into a UIImageView? Thanks in advance for all your wisdom!

  • Issue in event.PreventDefault()

    - by Prathiba
    I'm using twitter bootstrap in my application. i gave e.preventDefault for link button in $(document).reday(), but it is not working. Here is my code: Master page: <a id="lnkLogout" href="javascript:void(0);" onclick="PageLogout();"><i class="icon-off"> </i>Logout</a> <script type="text/javascript" language="javascript"> $(document).ready(function () { $('#lnkLogout').click(function (e) { e.preventDefault(); }); }); function PageLogout() { //Code for logout from the application.... } </script> SampleDefaultPage.aspx : <div class="row-fluid"> <div class="form-horizontal"> <h4 class="header blue bolder smaller"> Contact</h4> <div class="control-group"> <label for="form-field-email" class="control-label"> Email</label> <div class="controls"> <input type="text" style="width:200px;" data-val="true" data-val-required="Mobile Number is required." id="txtEmail"> <div class="space-3"> </div> <span data-valmsg-replace="true" data-valmsg-for="txtEmail" class="field-validation-valid text-warning red"></span> </div> </div> <div class="control-group"> <label for="form-field-website" class="control-label"> Phone Number</label> <div class="controls"> <input type="text" style="width:200px;" id="txtPhno"> </div> </div> </div> I have given txtEmail as mandatory field. if i left that field blank and click on Logout button in Master page, it says txtEmail is required. i dint do any validation in Logout onclick event. I have given preventDefault for Logout link. But still facing an issue. I should be able to logout even though txtEmail is left blank. Thank you all in advance for your response.

  • Is there an alternative to die?

    - by TJDeatwiler
    Sorry for the dramatic sounding title, just wanted to know if there is a way to prevent all types of PHP commands from executing EXCEPT one. For example, now when I kill a script using die() my pages look half broken because the bottom part of the page's html failed to load since it was being brought in using the include() function. So is there a way to tell PHP "don't allow any more commands to be executed except the include function" ?

  • jQuery: have a child window be notified when parent window goes to a different page?

    - by Heinrich Schmetterling
    i have a parent window and a child window. in javascript, i want a function in child window to be called whenever the parent window loads a new page. i'd like to use something similar to jQuery's $(document).ready() so that I don't have to worry about whether the parent is done loading yet - but ready() only appears to fire when the window loads the first page - but not when, say, a link is clicked in the parent and it loads a second page. any suggestions? thanks.

  • How do you get the pageYOffset of from the bottom of the window and not the top ( Javascript )?

    - by user782860
    I need to get the pageYOffset of the bottom of the viewable area, whether the user is zoomed in on the webpage or not, on Mobile Safari ( iPhone ). However pageYOffset returns the offset from the upper left corner of the window. Spec: "pageYOffset properties returns the pixels the current document has been scrolled from the upper left corner of the window" How do you get the page y offset from the bottom of the viewable area, (zoomed in or not) on the iPhone via Javascript?

    I'm trying to get the contents of a XML document element, but the element has a colon in it's name. This line works for every element but the ones with a colon in the name: $(this).find("geo:lat").text(); I assume that the colon needs escaping. How do I fix this?

  • What's the difference between $get and $find in JavaScript?

    - by RoboShop
    Hi, I'm a .NET programmer who've just started to learn more about client side scripting, and I was wondering sometimes you use $get('value') and $find('value') and I've discovered that these are just shortcuts for document.getElementById('value') and Sys.Application.findComponent('value'), respectively. However, I still don't understand: what is the difference between these two functions in JavaScript? What exactly are they looking up/retrieving when invoked? Thanks in advance.

  • NoSQL vs Relational Coding Styles

    - by Chris Henry
    When building objects that make use of data stored in a RDBMS, it's normally pretty clear what you're getting back, as dictated by the tables and columns being queried. However, when dealing with NoSQL, document-based systems, it's less clear what is being retrieved. What are common methods of keeping track of structure in which data is stored?

  • ASP C# How to handle large files from database?

    - by Martijn
    In my web application I am working with files. Some files are very large. I use Response.Write() to write the file to the browser. This goes well for the smaller files, but for large files this can take a while and the bandfwith is fully used. My question is, is it possible to split large documents and send it piece by piece to the browser? I hold the document as a property of an object.
