• NativeWindow WndProc not receiving messages

  Could someone shed some light on why my WndProc method as implemented below isn't receiving any messages? If I put this class below in a WinForms application and pass in that application's handle, WndProc receives messages as I would expect. However, using the IntPtr returned from GetForegroundWindow() as I have below doesn't yield the same results. • Membership provider stopped working on using Membership Provider in ASP.Net MVC

  I have a production ASP.Net MVC application that has been using the membership service. It has worked fine, up until today. Nothing has changed on the server, but I now have this error: System.Configuration.Provider.ProviderException: The 'System.Web.Security.SqlMembershipProvider' requires a database schema compatible with schema version '1'. However, the current database schema is not compatible with this version. You may need to either install a compatible schema with aspnet_regsql.exe (available in the framework installation directory), or upgrade the provider to a newer version. I checked the asp_schemaversions table, and it looks fine. Please any help would be appreciated.

• VS2008 Setup Project for C# Project

  I've built app using wmp.dll which is Windows System File in my XP machine. If I tried add outputs of above project to my Setup Project, VS warned that ''wmp.dll' should be excluded because its source file 'C:\WINDOWS\system32\wmp.dll' is under Windows System File Protection'. There're three things under 'Detected Dependencies' folder. Microsoft .NET Framework, Interop.WMPLib.dll and wmp.dll. The app works okay in my machine, of course. But if I install this into Windows Server 2003 machine, the app does not be launched. I think this is because different version of OS use different version of wmp.dll. Anyway, how can I fix this? ps. I've even excluded wmp.dll from the Setup Project.

  Hi all - I'm developing a simple LAMP app where users can credit their account using Paypal. I suspect this is a simple issue, but have spent quite a while experimenting to no avail and would appreciate any thoughts: System has a user management system working fine using sessions, but I can't get it to display the current user's credit. But I've been trying things along the lines of: $result = mysql_query(" SELECT * FROM users INNER JOIN account ON account.UserID=account.UserID ORDER BY account.accountID"); while($_SESSION['Username'] = $row['Username'] ) { echo $row['Username']; echo $row['Credit']; } I suspect the while statement is invalid, but I want it to echo username and credit where the current session username = the username stored in the database. I would expect the compiler to see that the second argument will be unboxed one way or the other, and judge what method must be invoked depending on the third argument. Why does not this happen? What is the rationale?

  I've recently started working on various C# projects in Visual Studio as part of a plan for a large scale system that will be used to replace our current system that's built from a cobbling-together of various programs and scripts written in C and Perl. The projects I'm now working on have reached critical mass for being committed to subversion. I was wondering what should and should not be committed to the repository for Visual Studio projects. I know that it's going to generate various files that are just build-artifacts and don't really need to be committed, and I was wondering if anybody had any advice for properly using SVN with Visual Studio. At the moment, I'm using an SVN 1.6 server with Visual Studio 2010 beta. Any advice, opinions are welcome.

  I've got several Web apps running on a Tomcat 5.5 server, and I'm working on improving/updating the overall logging system used throughout the system. I already had some success with logback-classic. However, when I try to use logback-access (i.e. access the lbAccessStatus servlet), I get this exception: exception javax.servlet.ServletException: Wrapper cannot find servlet class ch.qos.logback.access.ViewStatusMessagesServlet or a class it depends on org.apache.catalina.authenticator.AuthenticatorBase.invoke(AuthenticatorBase.java:433) ... root cause java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: ch.qos.logback.access.ViewStatusMessagesServlet org.apache.catalina.loader.WebappClassLoader.loadClass(WebappClassLoader.java:1386) ... I have everything set up according to the docs: common/lib: logback-classic-0.9.15.jar logback-core-0.9.15.jar server/lib: logback-access-0.9.15.jar Moving around the libraries doesn't seem to help. logback-classic seems to work fine, it's just logback-access that causes problems.

• SQL Server database backup: Network Service file access

  When trying to run the following database backup command from my code I get an "Operating system error 5(Access is denied.)" error. This is because the log on account for the SQL Server Windows Service is 'Network Service' and that does not have access to right to this folder. BACKUP DATABASE [AE3DB] TO DISK = 'c:\AE3\backup\AE3DB.bak' My question is, from my code how would I go about figuring out where on the C drive 'Network Service' is allowed to right the backup to? NOTE: This is a distributed application so I cannot easily change the log on for the SQL Server Windows Service to the 'Local System' account that would be able to right to that folder.

• AutoScaleMode problems with changed default font

  Hi, I have some problems with the Form.AutoScaleMode property together with fixed size controls, when using a non-default font. I boiled it down to a simple test application (WinForms 2.0) with only one form, some fixed size controls and the following properties: class Form1 : Form { // ... private void InitializeComponent() { // ... this.AutoScaleDimensions = new System.Drawing.SizeF(96F, 96F); this.AutoScaleMode = System.Windows.Forms.AutoScaleMode.Dpi; this.Font = new System.Drawing.Font("Tahoma", 9.25F); // ... } } Under 96dpi, Windows XP, the form looks correctly like this 96 dpi example. Under 120 dpi, Windows XP, the the Windows Forms autoscaling feature produces this 120 dpi example. As you can see, groupboxes, buttons, list or tree views are scaled correctly, multiline text boxes get too big in the vertical axis, and a fixed size label does not scale correctly in both vertical and horizontal direction. Seems to be bug in the .NET framework? Using the default font (Microsoft Sans Serif 8.25pt), this problem does not occur. Using AutoScaleMode=Font (with adequate AutoScaleDimensions, of course) either does not scale at all or scales exactly like seen above, depending on when the Font is set (before or after the change of AutoScaleMode). The problem is not specific to the "Tahoma" Font, it occurs also with Microsoft Sans Serif, 9.25pt. And yes, i already read this SO post http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2114857/high-dpi-problems but it does not really help me. Any suggestions how to come around this? EDIT: I changed my image hoster, hope this one works better. EDIT2: Some additional information about my intention: I have about 50 already working fixed size dialogs with several hundreds of properly placed, fixed size controls. They were migrated from an older C++ GUI framework to C#/Winforms, that's why they are all fixed-size. All of them look fine with 96 dpi using a 9.25pt font. Under the old framework, scaling to 120 dpi worked fine - all fixed size controls scaled equal in both dimensions. Last week, we detected this strange scaling behaviour under WinForms when switching to 120 dpi. You can imagine that most of our dialogs now look very bad under 120 dpi. We are looking for a solution that avoids a complete redesign all those dialogs.

  i have a DetailsView that is populated by a Linq to Entities query. Example query is below. Dim Record = From L In db.MyRecords _ Where L.RecordID = 100 _ Select ID = L.RecordID, L.column1, L.column2, L.column3, L.column4 DetailsView2.DataSource = Record DetailsView2.DataBind() The defaultMode for the DetailsView is Edit. Now if this Detailsview was bound to a datasource control, i would convert a column to a templateColumn and programatically access cell values like so Dim NameTextBox As System.Web.UI.WebControls.TextBox = CType(DetailsView2.Rows(1).Cells(1).FindControl("TextBox1"), System.Web.UI.WebControls.TextBox) such that i can then say NameTextBox.Text to get the Name value. But the problem i have is, with this detailsview which is unbound, i have no column at design time to convert to a template, and yet i want to access its cell values. help is appreciated.

  I know the bits just came out today, but one of the first things I want to do with the newly released Windows Mobile 7 SDK is put a map up on the screen and mess around. I've downloaded the latest version of the Silverlight Maps Control and added the references to my application. As a matter of fact, the VS 2010 design view of the MainPage.xaml shows the map control after adding the namespace and placing the control. I'm using the provided VS 2010 Express version that comes with the Win Mobile 7 SDK and have just used the New Project - Windows Phone Application template. When I try to build I get two warnings related to the Microsoft.Maps.MapControl dll's. Warning 1 The primary reference "Microsoft.Maps.MapControl, Version=1.0.1.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=498d0d22d7936b73, processorArchitecture=MSIL" could not be resolved because it has an indirect dependency on the framework assembly "System.Windows.Browser, Version=2.0.5.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=7cec85d7bea7798e" which could not be resolved in the currently targeted framework. • How can I exceed the 60% Memory Limit of IIS7 in ASP.NET Caching application

  Pardon if this is more serverfault vs. stackoverflow. It seems to be on the border. We have an application that caches a large amount of product data for an e-commerce application using ASP.NET caching. This is a dictionary object with 65K elements, and our calculations put the object's size at ~10GB. Problem: The amount of memory the object consumes seems to be far in excess of our 10GB calculation. BIGGEST CONCERN: We can't seem to use over 60% of the 32GB in the server. What we've tried so far: In machine.config/system.web (sf doesn't allow the tags, pardon the formatting): processModel autoConfig="true" memoryLimit="80" In web.config/system.web/caching/cache (sf doesn't allow the tags, pardon the formatting): privateBytesLimit = "20000000000" (and 0, the default of course) percentagePhysicalMemoryUsedLimit = "90" Environment: Windows 2008R2 x64 32GB RAM IIS7 Nothing seems to allow us to exceed the 60% value.   I'm dealing with a large WPF application that is outputting a large number of binding errors. BindingExpression:Path=HorizontalContentAlignment; DataItem=null; target element is 'MenuItem' (Name=''); target property is 'HorizontalContentAlignment' (type 'HorizontalAlignment') Problem is I don't know where in the app this is coming from. Searching the entire solution for AncestorType={x:Type ItemsControl} doesn't necessary help since I still don't know which result is the culprit. I've tried setting PresentationTraceSources.DataBindingSource.Switch.Level = SourceLevels.All; but the extra information doesn't help locate the problematic bindings. • How to honor/inherit user's language settings in WinForm app

  I have worked with globalization settings in the past but not within the .NET environment, which is the topic of this question. What I am seeing is most certainly due to knowledge I have yet to learn so I would appreciate illumination on the following. Setup: My default language setting is English (en-us specifically). I added a second language (Danish) on my development system (WinXP) and then opened the language bar so I could select either at will. I selected Danish on the language bar then opened Notepad and found the language reverted to English on the language bar. I understand that the language setting is per application, so it seemed that Notepad set the default back to English. (I found that strange since Windows and thus Notepad is used all over the world.) Closing Notepad returned the setting on the language bar to Danish. I then launched my open custom WinForm application--which I know does not set the language--and it also reverted from English to Danish when opened, then back to Danish when terminated! Question #1A: How do I get my WinForm application upon launch to inherit the current setting of the language bar? My experiment seems to indicate that each application starts with the system default and requires the user to manually change it once the app is running--this would seem to be a major inconvenience for anyone that wants to work with more than one language! Question #1B: If one must, in fact, set the language manually in a multi-language scenario, how do I change my default system language (e.g. to Danish) so I can test my app's launch in another language? I added a display of the current language in my application for this next experiment. Specifically I set a MouseEnter handler on a label that set its tooltip to CultureInfo.CurrentCulture.Name so each time I mouse over I thought I should see the current language setting. Since setting the language before I launch my app did not work, I launched it then set the language to Danish. I found that some things (like typing in a TextBox) did honor this Danish setting. But mousing over the instrumented label still showed en-us! Question #2A: Why does CultureInfo.CurrentCulture.Name not reflect the change from my language bar while other parts of my app seem to recognize the change? (Trying CultureInfo.CurrentUICulture.Name produced the same result.) Question #2B: Is there an event that fires upon changes on the language bar so I could recognize within my app when the language setting changes?

• Deploying axis2 on glassfish

  I'm trying to deploy Axis2 v1.6.2 war on Glassfish v3.1.2 and I'm having some problems... I need to develop a few web services and since the main app is beeing served on Glassfish I was hoping to deploy axis2 on it so I could test it. I used Glassfish administration pages to deploy a war downloaded from an apache site, but after pointing the application deployment form to this war I'm getting Error and this is the (long) stack • Java Webstart Truststore SSL

  Hello Experts .. Need some guidance. I have java webstart app and I want it to connect to a server via SSL.just adding a property like:System.setProperty("javax.net.ssl.trustStore","my.keystore");But since a JAWS program is downloaded from server didn't work and don't have a my.keystore on local file system. So decided to distribute the certificate to all clients.I did the following and it worked, but I am sure there are more better solutions that this.I packed it inside a jar and copied to some temp directory on clients machine and read the truststore jks file. Any ideas to make it better? -Padur ========================================

• .NET Type Conversion Issue: Simple but difficult

  Well, the question is kinda simple. I have a object defined as: public class FullListObject : System.Collections.ArrayList, IPagedCollection And when i try to: IPagedCollection pagedCollection = (IPagedCollection)value; It don't work... value is a FullListObject... this is my new code trying to get around a issue with the "is" operator. When the system tests (value is IPagedCollection) it never gets true for FullListObject. How to cast the object to another object with a interface type?
