I once came across a utility program which can capture a snapshot of a website and save the full page as a png image file. Too bad I forget the name of it. Anyone helps? Thanks!
I just converted a physical Windows XP x64 machine with 4 CPUs to a VMWare virtual machine with 4CPUs (on a ESX server) using the VMWare Standalone Converter.
Everything worked just great, except that the OS now seems to use only 2 CPUs (when 4 are installed, see the following image). This must be a Windows XP issue rather than a VMWare issue, but I can not really rule out any reason at this stage.
What can I do?
I am copying a 4.7 GB dvd contents into my local drive but the total size of DVD is being shown as 415 GB!. How is that possible? Because of which it is showing less space (as my drive is of 150 GB) and thus cannot be copied?
I am surprised that how a 4.7 GB dvd contains 415 GB data? Its a movie DVD (contains dual subtitles and dual language, if that helps)
Attached is the image for reference
Inside the DVD the video folder shows 415 GB
I'm planning to use OpenVZ in an old machine I have at home.
I want to know if a dumped OpenVZ instance image can be exported to other formats (like VirtualBox or Vmware).
Thanks!
I want to save the images from a page in Firefox that have been open for a couple of days. The problem is that neither the page nor the images are available anymore online. The images where dynamically generated and not cached.
The only way I can think of is by making a screenshot and then cutting out each invidual image. Isn't there a better way of getting the data from the browsers memory?
Hello,
how can I run Microsoft Speech Recognition without the app on top or minimized?
The app is what it is at the top of this image:
http://www.microsoft.com/library/media/1033/windowsvista/images/features/bov_speechrec2.png
If that's not possible, is it possible to minimize it using c# or python?
I have recovered a CCTV camera hard disk after a crash and have managed to get most of the data using EasyRecovery Pro. The problem is now that all the data that I have recovered appear like File09.JPG with and image icon in windows XP, but the files can't be viewed in any JPEG viewer software.
I suspect that the .JPG files are indeed folders, but I can't force windows XP the change the file type.
Very Odd.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
Hoo
Hi all I was trying to confirm my understanding of "standby list" and "modified list" as stated in this article.
Is it true that "Cached memory" (as shown in the image below) refers to memory that is currently cached (available for use), and memory that was previous cached (previously available for use), but currently used (now not available for use) ?
So if x = "Cached memory" (1184), y = "modified cache pages", z = "cached and were modified",
x = y + z holds true ?
I have Gitorious running on a Centos 5.3 install on a VMWare virtual machine under VMWare Server. Everytime we take down the server via suspend to back up the image, and resume the VM, the git-daemon dies.
All my other processes continue to function without any problems, this one process dies and has to be manually be restarted.
Does anyone have any ideas why this might be happening, or how to make sure this process never dies off?
I have the same slideshow in the exact same folder (C:\Images) on two computers which are syncing their settings over the Microsoft account (mail and other settings synced normally), and I have independently configured them to display wallpaper slideshows from that folder. However, the "Synced Theme" in Personalise Desktop repeatedly resets to a static image. Is there a way to ensure the sync sticks?
For ESXi5.1 (VMWare vSphere) images, I can see temperature data on the vSphere user interface (under Monitor / Hardware Status). I tried scouring the available snmp data using snmpwalk, but can't find the data anywhere in there.
Maybe I'm missing something. Does anybody know the right MIB for temperature data?
Otherwise, ow can that data be accessed?
By the way, this is a machine installed from an image provided by HP.
i cant boot windows 7 and i dont have the bootable windows 7 dvd to repair, but i have a dvd image from wich i installed it, but when i start setup it shows only the option of instaling it.
sry for my bad english
Well, I have a scanned PDF with some slightly changes made by hand and a source file. I wish to make a PDF, which would be searchable (based on the text from the source, the changes would remain as they are).
I am searching a free (and even better - portable) software which would allow me to somehow "combine" the images from a scan and the text from the source DOC file. So it SEEMS like the image is selectable and searchable.
I want build a third party tool to make our employees fill the Contact Form information , and then make him able to add his information as a signature image to the Lotus notes ..
so if the customer want to send a new email , the signature will be added automatically to the email ..
I use lotus notes V. 8.5 ..
But how I can do it ,, is there any API available to make this happens ?
I appreciates any help ...
The title says it all: I have a machine that has several partitions. I'd like to back it all up (preferably as a single image) and restore it to a single partition/maybe LVM. I've run into more and more trouble with the choice of partition sizes and decided it wasn't worth the trouble.
So I am in a situation where my wallpaper is locked to a specific image on my work computer via group policy. I can't change it via the Personalization settings since it is grayed out and says it has been set by the system administrator.
Anyone know some local GPO and/or registry hackery I can do to override the domain's policy? I could probably get away with logging in under a local account for this, but I want that to be a last resort.
Thanks in advance.
Every time I want to save some image I paste into the Paint application,
it chooses a BMP/DIB format (which is the worst for saving things from the clipboard).
How can I hack this Windows pbrush application into defaulting to a JPEG format save always?
If it matters I am using Windows XP SP3 and Paint 5.1 at the moment.
But, I thought the hack would be generic, and I'd like to do this across all my Windows machines.
What is the best way to bring back the server online after hardware crash. I suppose image won't work after hardware change.
So I like to know what is the fastest way to bring everything back.
I've the following software running on the server:
MSSQL
IIS
Custom Server Software
FTP Server
Then there is configuration:
Registering asp.net 4.0
Configuration files for server software (these can be put back from backup)
Configuration if windows firewall.
Thanks in advance
I've got two partition images (A and B) and want to use them to create a patch that I can apply on A on another computer in order to get the new B image without flooding the network. I have the following requirements:
works on linux
can create diffs
can use diffs to patch files
can handle binary files
can handle large files (a few hundred GB should work)
no user interaction required (just a console application)
ideally, should be able to read from/write to pipes (so that I can pipe into it from a gzip-compressed file and write to one)
Does something like that exist?
I'd like to use an OpenSolaris EC2 instance as a DB server, using an external EBS volume connected to a ZFS pool.
If I set-up the ZFS pools then bundle-up the EC2 image, could I terminate the instance then safely re-attach the existing EBS volume (with data) to a new EC2 instance after it boots?
I have a nettop which has no dvd drive. Could I make a small partiton on my hard drive, put all files from a win xp install disk image into that partition, and somehow make that bootable?
It currently has windows 7 installed.
(I'm using windows-7 and the hard drives are western digital with whatever formatting they came with from the factory)
i'm thinking of setting up two different back-ups one through windows and one with the software that came with the drive (because windows gives me a system image but isn't very user-friendly for my files)
but will my computer get confused and load them as different letters each time?
If you look at this page you'll see an monochrome image
Above it says "Tip: Use the SHA1 checksum shown to verify file integrity. " however i dont know if thats related. What are these things?
As per questions like this, cloning a VM in VirtualBox is possible, if not all that streightforward. However, everything I've seen indicates that before a VM is cloned, all the snapshots need to be folded back into a single disk image.
But, what if I don't want to? Suppose I want to keep my stack of snapshots on the original, and then clone that VM such that the clone also had the same stack of snapshots available? Is that possible?
