Send javax.mail.internet.MimeMessage to a recipient with non-ASCII name?

I am writing a piece of Java code that needs to send mail to users with non-ASCII names. I have figured out how to use UTF-8 for the body, subject line, and generic headers, but I am still stuck on the recipients. Here's what I'd like in the "To:" field: "????????????" <[email protected]>. This lives (for our purposes today) in a String called recip. msg.addRecipients(MimeMessage.RecipientType.TO, recip) gives "?????S]" <[email protected]> msg.addHeader("To", MimeUtility.encodeText(recip, "utf-8", "B")) throws AddressException: Local address contains control or whitespace in string ``=?utf-8?B?IuOCpuOCo+OCreODmuODh+OCo+OCouOBq+OCiOOBhuOBk+OBnSIgPA==?= =?utf-8?B?Zm9vQGV4YW1wbGUuY29tPg==?='' How the heck am I supposed to send this message?

I'm making a program for my own use. In this program, I need to set up cron job. The cron job should run every minute (24 hr * 60 mins = 1440 times). Thus, I'll need to set up a cron job with a frequency of 1 minute. I think Google App Engine gives free cron job. But I'm very new to it. I downloaded the java SDK and read the document but understood nothing :( So, I can't use Google App Engine. Is here any other free service like Google app engine which but with easier inferface??? How to Stop Current Playing Song When using one thread with JLayer?

I recently used a solution to the one-thread-at-a-time problem whe using Jlayer to play mp3 songs in Java. But this solution by Kaleb Brasee didn't hint at how you could stop the player, i.e how could one then call player.close()? Kaleb's code was: Executor executor = Executors.newSingleThreadExecutor(); executor.execute(new Runnable() { public void run() { /* do something */ } }); and this is the code I put in run() if(player != null) player.close(); try{ player = new Player(new FileInputStream(musicD.getPath())); player.play(); }catch(Exception e){} The problem is that much as this solves the problem of keeping the gui active while the music plays (in only one other thread -- what i'd wanted), I can't start playing another song :-( What could I do?

Although there's a page on the Maven site about this topic, there's only one example unit test, which does nothing useful. I also found this wiki page, but it hasn't been updated for more than 4 years, so I'm reluctant to invest any faith in it. I checked the book "The Definitive Guide to Maven", but it doesn't even mention the subject. How to handle updating JDO class definitions on Google App Engine

I'm using the Google app engine and JDO. What is the best way to update a JDO class definition without having to wipe the data store contents first? I'm not sure if this is specific to JDO on GAE, but I noticed that when I simply change the name of one of my persistent fields from svotes to votes, an exception is thrown (java.lang.NoSuchFieldError: svotes). I expect once my site goes live I might want to make some changes to my JDO class definitions, such as adding a field or something. Any suggestions for how to update the data definitions without having to wipe the database?

Is there a procedure by which you can optimize/shrink/select/obfuscate only 'used by your app' classes/methods/fields from rt.jar provided by Sun by using some optimization software like ProGuard (or maybe other?). Then you would actually be able to minimize the download size of your application considerably and make it much more secure ? Right? Related questions: Do you know if Sun's "jigsaw project" which is waited to come out, is intended to automatically handle this particular issue? Did somebody manage yet to form an opinion about Avian java alternative? Please share it here. Thank you.

Is it possible to configure Hibernate reverse engineering and code generation tool in such a way that one-to-many relation between tables is mapped to entities inheritance instead of enrites relation? I have Person table and Employee table, which are related with the foreign key (Person contains basic information, Employee the rest). In my Java code I would like this relation mapped to inheritance Employee extends Person. This can be done by hand, but maybe I missed some custom configuration parameter that I can use. Validate an XML File Against Multiple Schema Definitions

I'm trying to validate an XML file against a number of different schemas (apologies for the contrived example): a.xsd b.xsd c.xsd c.xsd in particular imports b.xsd and b.xsd imports a.xsd, using: <xs:include schemaLocation="b.xsd"/> I'm trying to do this via Xerces in the following manner: XMLSchemaFactory xmlSchemaFactory = new XMLSchemaFactory(); Schema schema = xmlSchemaFactory.newSchema(new StreamSource[] { new StreamSource(this.getClass().getResourceAsStream("a.xsd"), "a.xsd"), new StreamSource(this.getClass().getResourceAsStream("b.xsd"), "b.xsd"), new StreamSource(this.getClass().getResourceAsStream("c.xsd"), "c.xsd")}); Validator validator = schema.newValidator(); validator.validate(new StreamSource(new StringReader(xmlContent))); but this is failing to import all three of the schemas correctly resulting in cannot resolve the name 'blah' to a(n) 'group' component. I need to get a string from URL request of brower, and then create a text image by requested text. I know the default encoding of the Java net transmission is "ISO-8859-1", it can works normally with all characters what defined in "ISO-8859-1". But when I request a multi-byte Unicode character (e.g. chinese or something like ¤?), then I need to decode it by "UTF-8" from "ISO-8859-1". My codes like: String reslut = new String(requestString.getBytes("ISO-8859-1"), "UTF-8"); Everything is fine, but I found some characters in ISO-8859-1 are not been shown now, which characters are 0x80 - 0xFF(defined in" ISO-8859-1"), i.e. the characters except 0x00-0x7F are not been shown when converted to "UTF-8" from "ISO-8859-1" Any other method can solve this query?

swing: event listener support class

Is there any preexisting class that helps support add/remove EventListener operations? (kind of like PropertyChangeSupport) I'm trying to partition my code into a model and view in Java. I have some data that arrives erratically, and would like the model to support some kind of EventListener so that a view can subscribe to changes in the model. The data is numerous + complicated enough that I don't want to have to do the whole fine-grained Javabeans property change support; rather I would just like to allow notification that the model has changed in a coarse way. how can I best do this?

How to send all previously generated data to new Flex client when using BlazeDS streaming?

Hello. I have a Flex client and Java back-end connected with each other via BlazeDS. I use streaming for real-time data push from server to client. Everything works fine, but I want to add the following functionality: when the new client opens Flex application, he must receive all previously generated data instead of just subscribing to data updates. It seems like I have to save this data at the web server - that's pretty straightforward, but how can I push this data to new client when he connects? Should I use custom ServiceAdapter or there is a better way to achieve this purpose?

tomcat multithreading problem

Hi all I'm writing a java application that runs in Tomcat, on a multi-core hardware. The application executes an algorithm and returns the answer to the user. The problem is that even when I run two requests simultaneously, the tomcat process uses at most one CPU core. As far as I understand each request in Tomcat is executed in separate thread, and JVM should run each thread on separate CPU core. What could be the problem that bounds the JVM or Tomcat to use no more than one core? Thanks in advance.

I'm executing the following SQL Query approx 300 times in the program to find route connections from a database of 10,000 bus connections. It takes approx 6-7 seconds to execute the query 300 times. Any suggestions on how I can speed this up or any ideas on a different method i can use ? Standard Workflow when working with JPA

I am currently trying to wrap my head around working with JPA. I can't help but feel like I am missing something or doing it the wrong way. It just seems forced so far. What I think I know so far is that their are couple of ways to work with JPA and tools to support this. You can do everything in Java using annotations, and let JPA (whatever implementation you decide to use) create your schema and update it when changes are made. You can use a tool to reverse engineer you database and generate the entity classes for you. When the schema is updated you have to regenerate these classes, or manually update them. There seems to be drawbacks to both, and benefits to both (as with all things). My question is in an ideal situation what is the standard workflow with JPA? Most schemas will require updates during the maintenance phase and especially during the development phase, so how is this handled?

Why Eclipse does not see .jar file of a library?

I have a java project in which I have "Referenced Libraries". In the "Referenced Libraries" I have a .jar file of a library that I use (I use only one external library). When I try to "Run - Run" the code I have a NullPointerException. From my previous experience I know that it it (very likely) because my code does not see the library. I just started to use Eclipse and it can be the I do not "connect" libraries in a correct way. Should I use some options or additional action to force Eclipse to see the .jar file of the library? ADDED: By the right click on the library I get a drop-down menu in which I see "Build Path". My be I need to do something there?

Calculating intraday candlesticks by time intervals

This maybe an over asked question, but my mind draws blank at this moment. I know what a candlestick chart is and how to draw it daily. But how to draw it intraday at asked time periods. I have this server, written in Java, that gives me trade depth (each trade done since the start of the day). Its just a stream of raw data: price, shares, timestamp. How does one go about calculating candlestick data from that? Lets say, they want to have 5 min candlestick or 1min candlestick. Or is there a library that will do that for me if I feed it data? Any help is appreciated!

I've written a socket listener in Java that just sends some data to the client. If I connect to the server using telnet, I want the server to send some telnet option codes. Do I just send these like normal messages? Like, if I wanted the client to print "hello", I would do this: PrintWriter out = new PrintWriter(clientSocket.getOutputStream()); out.print("hello"); out.flush(); But when I try to send option codes, the client just prints them. Eg, the IAC char (0xff) just gets printed as a strange y character when I do this: PrintWriter out = new PrintWriter(clientSocket.getOutputStream()); out.print((char)0xff); out.flush();

executing a class in remote jvm

Hi All, I have a small test class that i want to run on a particular jvm that's already up and running (basically it's an web application running on Tomcat) . The reason i want to do this is i want to execute a small test class (with the main method and all) within that jvm so that i get the same environment (loaded and initialized classes) for my test class. Is it possible to indicate that ,say through a jvm parameter, that it should not initialize a new vm to execute my class but instead go and execute on the remote vm and show me the result here, on my console. So the local jvm acts as a kind of thin proxy ? I am not aware in case there are some tools that should make this possible ... also heard somewhere that java 6 jvm comes with an option like this , is that true ?? Please help me. Thanks,
