• How to put foreign key constraints on a computed fields in sql server?

  Table A has a computed field called Computed1. It's persisted and not null. Also, it always computes to an expression which is char(50). It's also unique and has a unique key constraint on it. Table B has a field RefersToComputed1, which should refer to a valid Computed1 value. Trying to create a foreign key constraint on B's RefersToComputed1 that references A' Computed1 leads to the following error: Error SQL01268: .Net SqlClient Data Provider: Msg 1753, Level 16, State 0, Line 1 Column 'B.RefersToComputed1' is not the same length or scale as referencing column 'A.Computed1' in foreign key 'FK_B_A'. Columns participating in a foreign key relationship must be defined with the same length and scale. Q: Why is this error created? Are there special measures needed for foreign keys for computed columns, and if so what are they? Summary: The specific problem rises from computed, char based, fields being varchar. Hence, Computed1 is varchar(50) and not char(50). It's best to have a cast surrounding a computed field's expression to force it to a specific type. Credit goes to Cade Roux for this tip.

  I'm trying to learn Hibernate and I wrote the simplest Person Entity and I was trying to insert 2000 of them. I know I'm using deprecated methods, I will try to figure out what are the new ones later. And since there is only one open at each time, it should work. I tried to add session.close() after the commit, but I got Exception in thread "main" org.hibernate.SessionException: Session was already closed So how to solve the problem?

• SignalR - Handling disconnected users

  Hy, I'm using the signalR library on a project to handle an notification and chat modules. I've a table on an database to keep a track of online users. The HUB for chat is inheriting IDisconnect where i disconnect the user. After disconnecting the user, i warm the users about that event. At this point, i check if the disconnect user is the client. If it's, then i call an method on HUB to reconnect the user (just update the table). I do this because with the current implementation, once the user closes a tab on the browser it calls the Disconnect task but he could have another tab opened. I've not tested (with larger requests) this module yet, but on my development server it could take a few seconds between the IDisconnect event, and the request from the user to connect again. I'm concerned with my implementation to handle disconnected users from the chat but i can't see another way to improve this. If possible, could someone give me a advice on this, or this is the only solution that i've?

  I need a function, but cannot seem to get it quite right, I have looked at examples here and elsewhere and cannot seem to get this just right, I need an optional item to be included in my query, I have this query (which works): SELECT TOP 100 PERCENT SKU, Description, LEN(CONVERT(VARCHAR (1000),Description)) AS LenDesc FROM tblItem WHERE Title = @Title AND Manufacturer = @Manufacturer ORDER BY LenDesc DESC This works within a Function, however the Manufacturer is Optional for this search - which is to find the description of a similar item, if none is present, the other query is: SELECT TOP 100 PERCENT SKU, Description, LEN(CONVERT(VARCHAR (1000),Description)) AS LenDesc FROM tblItem WHERE Title = @Title ORDER BY LenDesc DESC Which is missing the Manufacturer, how to I get my function to use either query based on the Manufacturer Value being present or not. The reason is I will have a function which first checks an SKU for a Description, if it is not present - it uses this method to get a Description from a Similar Product, then updates the product being added with the similar product's description. • Instead of trigger in SQL Server - looses SCOPE_IDENTITY?

  Hey StackOverflow, I am (once again) having some issues with some SQL. I have a table, on which I have created an INSTEAD OF trigger to enforce some buissness rules (rules not really important). This works as intended. My issue is, that now when inserting data into this table, SCOPE_IDENTITY() now returns a NULL value, rather than the actual inserted identity, my guess is that this is because it is now out of scope - but then how do I get this in scope? I am using SQL Server 2008. • iPhone: Cell imageViews repeating when loaded from url

  I'm developing a demo RSS reader for iPhone. I obviously have a tableview to display the feeds, and then a detailed view. Some of this feeds have a thumbnail that I want to display on cell.imageview of the table, and some don't. The problem is that when scrolling the table, loaded thumbnails start repeating on other cells, and I end up with a thumbnail on every cell. Here's a piece of my code. • Hibernate triggering constraint violations using orphanRemoval

  I'm having trouble with a JPA/Hibernate (3.5.3) setup, where I have an entity, an "Account" class, which has a list of child entities, "Contact" instances. I'm trying to be able to add/remove instances of Contact into a List<Contact> property of Account. Adding a new instance into the set and calling saveOrUpdate(account) persists everything lovely. If I then choose to remove the contact from the list and again call saveOrUpdate, the SQL Hibernate seems to produce involves setting the account_id column to null, which violates a database constraint. What am I doing wrong? The code below is clearly a simplified abstract but I think it covers the problem as I'm seeing the same results in different code, which really is about this simple. When the registered user select any checkbox the value is incremented (the summation) and then then registred user save his selection of checkbox if he satisfied with the result of summation into database all this work fine ...i want to enable the registred user to view his selection history by retriving and displaying the checkboxes he selected in a page with thier values ... How I can do that? I'm just able to save the selected checkboxes as choice 1, choice 2, for example .. • EnvDTE Retrieving the data type from a CodeElement

  I am using EnvDTE to generate some code in my latest project. I have a reference to a CodeClass-Object for a given C#-Class but now I wanted to loop through all of its members (in codeClass.Members) and check their types. However I can't manage to retrieve the type of the given member from the CodeElement-Object that I get when looping through codeClass.Members. How can I retrieve the type (int, string etc.)? PS: Reflection is not an option for my usecase.
