• How to write a regular expression for "everything between X and Y" for use with preg_replace

  I want to take a variable called $encoded_str and and remove cd1, CD1 and anything between the first 'l' and the last blank space. So for example "lp6 id4 STRINGcd1" would return "STRING". I'm using PHP 4 for now so I can't use str_ireplace, I have this: $encoded_str=str_replace('CD1','',$encoded_str); $encoded_str=str_replace('cd1','',$encoded_str); $encoded_str=preg_replace('X','',$encoded_str); I've RTFM for preg_replace but am a bit confused. What should I replace the X with and can you suggest a decent introductory primer for writing regular expressions?

  what i want to do is that when you vote Y or N (two different radio buttons) and then it inserts into the "vote" column(in database) = Y or N(what you pickd), if nothing then echo error. I know how to do this like halfway, i never worked with radiobuttons before so i need you guys. • Question about software that tracks divs better than notepad++

  I recently got hired as a web developer, and the project that I am overseeing has a formatting issue on one of the pages because one of the divs is out of whack. It is a fairly complex page with quite a bit of php, and from what I can gather, I am missing a </div> tag somewhere, and accordingly everything is messed up. I am currently using notepad++, which is decent at lining up divs, meaning that if you click on the opening div tag, it will highlight purple and also highlight the closing one. But it seems as though if you have div tags that span several lines (hundreds) it won't work. Has anyone else run into a similar situation? Is there a better editor I could be using that would do a better job of helping me with my div issue? Or do I have to go through and line up the divs 1 by 1? (there are like over 100). • Help with validation rules

  I am trying to figure out how to validate a section of a form using php. If at least one of value 1-5 is checked, then at least one of value A-E must be checked. Value's A-E cannot be allowed without at least one of 1-5 being checked. Multiple values in each section can be selected, as long as there is at least one value in each section checked. I have tried individual IF statements and arrays without success. Does anyone have any suggestions or examples? I am missing something and I am certain it is pretty obvious, right in my face.

  I don't have much Zend experience and want to change someone's login code in Zend to make the session not expire. It seems the code is basic behavior: $adapter = $this->getAuthService()->getAdapter(); $adapter->setIdentity($email)->setCredential($password); $result = $this->getAuthService()->authenticate(); What do I have to do to make the session not expire or to at least set the session for a specific time? Right now the user doesn't stay logged in for long, I think perhaps it is just relying on default php settings behavior like the standard 24 minutes for the gc_maxlifetime. What is the connection between Zend_Session and AuthService?

  I'm currently launching an asynchronous job with PHP to perform some tests. To make it work, I found on SO some tips, like the use of popen and start: $commande = "testu.bat"; $pid = popen('start /B ' . $commande, 'r'); $status = pclose($pid); The testu.bat's folder is in my user PATH. This script performs some task, and to control it's execution, it should generates a log file, but I never get it. Whereas if I just remove the /B option, it works fine and I get my log file. Did I miss something about background execution? How can I catch the error informations when it is running in the background?

  Hi! I'm using AJAX with PHP to read from a file and update the div's innerHTML. It works on Chrome and Firefox, but not in Internet Explorer. • Is there a way to test my nonce validation fails when it should?

  I'm using nonce validation in a wordpress plugin. When I submit the form from the admin menu it processes correctly, so I believe the nonce validation is working. What I'm not sure is if the validation will fail when it is supposed to and I don't know what the best way to test this is. I tried putting the url for the php file in directly, but all it does it take me to a wordpress not found page. Is there some recommended way to test this? Here is my code. • select subquery cause mysql server to be unresponsive

  DELETE FROM item_measurement WHERE measurement_id IN ( SELECT (-id) AS measurement_id FROM invoice_item WHERE invoice_id = 'A3722' ) I've really tried hard to find what's wrong with the code. I tried to run this in a php page, which doesn't respond. I also tried the same line in phpmyadmin, infinite spinning circle and I had to restart the server(MAMP on Mac 10.9). No error was given in browser/ If I run the delete and select separately, they both finish very quickly. I don't think it's a performance issue because the separate run took < 0.1 sec each. Thanks for any help in advance. Edit: I also found that a simple select statement will also suspend mysql: select * from item_measurement where measurement_id in (select -id from invoice_item where invoice_id='A3722')

I tried making an array of the fields since I don't want to have a hidden field. so my generated upload fields look like <input type="file" id="img0" name="img[]"/> <input type="file" id="img1" name="img[]"/> <input type="file" id="img2" name="img[]"/> ..... .. And on the php side I did something like if(isset($_FILES['img'])) { foreach($_FILES['img'] as $k=>$v) { if($v!="") { uploadImage($k,0,0,0,"content/gallery/"); } } } Now I know I am way too wrong, since in that code I am looping through the 'img' file's properties instead of all images....but I have no idea how to fix this. PS: uploadImage is a function I wrote which expects the file input field's name as the first parameter.

  How would I go about implementing a signup form using the MVC pattern for a website (I'm using PHP)? I think the controller should receive the POST data initially. Then probably some interation with the model might need to take place (if the user successfully signs up). Then I think the signup form view would be called, and a value would be passed in saying whether or not the signup was successful. Stuff I need help with: Where do I do input validation (ie. proper email address formatting)? How do I check to make sure the username is unique? Is the rest of my description alright? If rows==1 then I get the current message_number and set it equal to $row['message_number']++1. Then I update that entry with another query. Is there an easier way to do all this in just mysql with just one query (check if exists, if not insert, if so update message_number, increase by 1)?

I would like to access the properties of that div using javascript, which is impossible since that new text is not added to the DOM.   I'm working on a test page and am using MySQLi prepared statements in my queries after reading they make my code safe from SQL injection. I have been successful with prepared statements so far with retrieving data from my DB, that all works great. What I want to do now is count the number of galleries within a project using SELECT COUNT(*). That's it. Without using a prepared statement, my old query looked like this: // count number of galleries per project $conn = dbConnect('query'); $galNumb = "SELECT COUNT(*) FROM pj_galleries WHERE project = {$pjInfo['pj_id']}"; $gNumb = $conn->query($galNumb); $row = $gNumb->fetch_row(); $galTotal = $row[0]; But for all my reading and searching the internet, I can not find out the proper way to write this as a prepared statement.
