  I'm creating a Tetris clone in C++, and I have an enum GameProperty, which is specified as follows: enum GameProperty { NUM_OF_TETROMINOES = 7, NUM_OF_TILES = 4, TETROMINO_ROTATIONS = 4 }; In my case, I only use these values when looping through a tetromino's tiles, e.g: for (int i = 0; i < TETROMINO_TILES; i++) { } Is it under any circumstance considered bad practice to have multiple enumerators with the same value?

  I'm wondering what way would be best to render a 2D map for a shooter (these will be static maps) similar to Soldat. Multiple options I've considered are a tile based map (stored in txt files), or just creating different classes for the different terrains I plan to use and creating a data structure to read/store them in a file. (I want to also be able to include things like jumping/running on walls, sliding down walls/slopes ect) I feel like there must be a better way than either of these, but haven't been able to find definitive information :/ Thanks :)

  I'm not sure if it's just me, but whenever I open .txt files in internet explorer, it always parses the HTML, so forms, buttons, fields all show up. It does this on multiple computers, and I'm fairly sure it hasn't always done this. I know FireFox doesn't, FireFox loads it as a text file. Does anyone else have this problem? If so, have you solved it? If so again, how?

  How to lock file in Windows so that this file can be opened/read/wrote only by one process? I found out that file can be locked with CreateFile by giving 0 to dwShareMode flag. It works but only the returned handle can be used to work with file. But I want to be able to lock the file to other processes and at the same time to create multiple handles in my process.   I don't have multiple threads or anything like that, and I thought select() was non-blocking, however, as I add more items to an array used as the IO object, and using select(), after about 1000~ items in the array (with some interaction on them).. the whole script exits with a deadlock / fatal error...
