  Hi, Why does the Javascript function call isNaN(123.) return false? Is this a universally acceptable number or will it cause errors downstream? I'm validating whether a value is a valid decimal using isNaN along with split. Are there cross-browser issues with isNaN? Should I use a bespoke implementation? Thanks.

After reading the info (plain text) it looks a bit ugly.   I am having an issue with referencing the sheet name through =Branded!$A$1 Notation in VBA. For a while I have passed in simple sheet names like: Dim SheetName As String SheetName = "Pizza" ("=" & SheetName & "!$A$1") This has worked fine, but recently I passed in "Tier 1" and of course this notation broke.   I'm trying to write a store procedure that can take some input parameters (obviously), run multiple queries against those, taking the output from those and doing calculations, and from those calculations and the original queries, outputting a formatted text string like: Number of Rows for max(Z) matching condition x and y of total rows matching x (x&y/x*100). To explain the max(Z) bit, this will be the username field, it won't matter which actual entry is picked, because the where clause will filter the results by user id, is there a saner way to do this?

To conform to these rules one have to change quite a number of settings of the Java Code Formatter (Window-Preferences-Java-Formatter) default profile (in Eclipse IDE). Did anyone managed to configure the formatter to follow the "Android Code Style Rules" already? PS: I've tried to do this myself but I've found that there are too many formatter options available, and most of them are not mentioned in the Code Style Guide :-(

  How can I scale a set of values to fit a new range if they include negative numbers? For example, I have a set of numbers (-10, -9, 1, 4, 10) which have to scaled to a range [0 1], such that -10 maps to 0, and 10 maps to 1. The regular method for an arbitrary number 'x' would be: (x - from_min) * (to_max - to_min) / (from_max - from_min) + to_min but this does not work for negative numbers. Any help is appreciated.
