  • android application that visualize real time data

    I want to build and android app that visualize real time data , I set up a UDP channel that get the data , now I want to visualize it . I now that I can use openGL ES. but I have now back ground and in a few weeks I dont think that i'm able to learn that . what about android processing ? could it be used for extensive visualization task like this? or it's limited ? I heard it's not hard to learn that. any other option ?

  • C# .NET 4.0 interactive course?

    I would like to learn C# programming. I already studied it for several weeks and wrote some minor programs with VS2010, and I'm not completely newbie at programming because I worked on STALKER - Shadow of Chernobyl as scripter, but it was LUA. I want to become a real programmer. I think C# is a decent way to start with. I already learned about the most commonly used resource sites and got some nice eBooks as well, but unfortunately I don't have time to sit down in front my computer all the time, so my progress is pretty slow. I would like to ask that if someone can recommend me some decent interactive online courses to make my learning progress faster. I know about the "joe grip" course but I don't know if it's worth $39 also it's only for .NET 1.x and 2.0 while I'd like to learn 4.0 so I have no idea what should I do.

  • Most regrettable design or programming decision you made? [closed]

    I would like to hear what kind of design decisions you took and how did they backfire. Because of a bad design decision, I ended up having to support that bad decision forever (I also had a part in it). This made me realize that one single design mistake can haunt you forever. I want to learn from the more experienced people what kind of blunders have they experienced and what did they learn from them. I'm sure this will be a lot of help to other programmers by helping them to not repeat those decisions. Thanks for sharing your experience.

  • Best JavaOne 2012 Session!

    Go here to watch a really cool BOF, which was run late at night at some stage during the past week's JavaOne 2012, and which I really enjoyed even though I was falling asleep due to jetlag. (I literally woke up a few times, which means I must have been sleeping.) I loved it even though it was on a topic that doesn't really interest me as such, I just happen to know the speaker. (And I was too tired to stumble back to the hotel for a nap so thought I'd do so while attending a session thereby killing two birds with one stone.) It's really funny and educational.     I'm a beginner programmer and I am currently developing an application of my own, just for the fun of it and learning to program. I'm building it from scratch, because I think that in this way I will learn the most. I have stumbled upon MVC's and CMS, CodeIgniter really got my attention, and the basic use is very straight forward. But I do not understand the inner workings completely. So I have decided that it might be better to just develop from scratch and maybe return to codeIgniter later, was that good decision? Would it be better to use CodeIgniter and learn from that?

  • How to start learning Programming? [on hold]

    Most of the time people ask which programming language to learn which I know is not valid question to ask here and I don't care about 'which' here, I care about 'How'. So, how do I start learning programming from scratch? in other words, what are the steps for absolute beginner to learn programming the right way? I'm sure buying a book and reading it is not the only way in this case. Again, I don't want to ask which but I want also to know if there are specific languages that will make my start as solid as possible because I know that some can hurt my mindset of programming point of view.
