  • Intellij-Idea: Marking all files of unknown type be type: text (so that they are searchable)

    Many of my scripts etc in intellij are marked with a question mark. Then when I click on them them it prompts me: The file "bla" cannot be associated with a registered file type. Please choose one: <insert table of file choices> This would not matter except the files are not searchable (with ctrl-shift-n) until they are marked as text. This is a major problem for me. I have an enormous code base and I don't want to mark all of the unknown files as text. Is there anyway that I can do that? *(Note: I have cross posted this to the intellij form

  • Roles / Permissions framework for c#?

    Hi there, Does anyone know of a good framework to allow me design permission and roles against users. Basically allowing me to automatically check a user can do a certain thing, and then disabling or enabling menu items etc I am not really looking for asp.net security ... as i need to use it in my own service layer and clients both WEB and WPF will use it. I was hoping for something that allows me to create new roles and groups against users and then check what type of permissions a user has or a group has Any help really appreciated.. I am sure some kind of open source framework is available, well i was hoping not having to create my own Thanks

  • rails wiki site - article edit highlighting/strikethrough with htmldiff maxes cpu

    Hi I'm implementing a wiki style site and want to highlight changes made to articles between successive versions. Using htmldiff to highlight changes works great, except it is rather cpu intensive. I'm using the awesome vestal_versions plugin for versioning. So how best to handle this? I considered having an on_create callback on version creation create a delayed job that processes and then stores the htmldiff processed article (in the version table row). If this is a good approach, how can I extend vestal_versions without touching the gem? Or maybe there would be a better approach. Any advice is much appreciated. :)

  • What is a good Javascript RDFa parser implementation?

    I am looking to implement a client side RDFa based formatting for a web application. This would be similar to Mark Birbeck's ubiquity-rdfa project. Mark's project looks fantastic but it has at least two drawbacks: It is slow. Adding RDFa formatting to a simple page causes a noticeable delay in page loading. It is complex. The ubiquity-rdfa project makes use of the w3c fresnel specification which is complex way to add simple annotations to client markup. I am looking for a lighter weight way of adding annotations through client code and I don't mind doing some work to get it. What I would like is a fast and reliable Javascript RDFa parser. Some implementations that I have found include: W3C RDFa bookmarklet parser Elias Torres RDFa extractor I am interested to know if you would recommend one of these, or another, RDFa Javascript implementation.   • DWR and Jquery into spring MVC 2.5

    Hi, From my shallow reading, Spring MVC does not support jquery directly. It does enable integration with DWR framework. From my understanding of DWR, it is an ajax framework that allows you to call javas methods from javascript. Can I use both in my application? With Jquery handling most of the javascript code and client side interaction and DWR making the ajax calls? I am leaning towards learning jquery but there is no out of the box support for it in spring 2.5.

    Hi there, I just updated an app from .net 2.0 to .net 4.0 and i have noticed the following... For example i have the following control.. <input type="hidden" name="ctl00$cphMain$hfdFueraHorarioOficinaConfirmado" id="cphMain_hfdFueraHorarioOficinaConfirmado" value="False" /> and then in javascript i did this before.. var hfdFueraHorarioOficinaConfirmado=document.getElementById('ctl00_cphMain_hfdFueraHorarioOficinaConfirmado'); but after checking the Id within the html source once it renders and also doing some debugging with firebug etc.... it has changed from ctl00_cphMain_hfdFueraHorarioOficinaConfirmado to cphMain_hfdFueraHorarioOficinaConfirmado can anyone explain why? .... so should i basically do a search and replace and remove the ctl00?????? A little confused Obviosuly the javascript line with the the ctl00_ infront return NULL because it doesn't exist, but removing this returns the object.. Any help or ideas really appreciated Thanks

  • Why is my ipad's wireless so flakey?

    I'm the proud owner of a new IPad here in the UK. All is good, except for the wifi, which is a bit flakey. It connects fine to my Draytek router which is set for WPA/WPA2 and 56g only, displaying full signal strength. Then, after a few minutes, it goes down to minimum strength... And sometimes it goes back up again. A few times, it seems to loose connection completely, and needs to be turned off and on again. I've looked at the Apple support site, and have tried their recommendations (which are not really very relevant), but still nothing. I've tried setting the router to wpa2 only, and setting long-preamble. Right now, I guess I want to know if it's a hardware problem with my device and should be returned, or if it's a problem with all ipads which will be resolved. Guess I could take it back to the Mac genius bar, but I find those guys so incredibly pretentious and, frankly, rather useless, that i'd rather wait until I've exercised other options!

  • Python: Best way to check for Python version in program that uses new language features?

    If I have a python script that requires at least a particular version of python, what is the correct way to fail gracefully when an earlier version of python is used to launch the script? How do I get control early enough to issue an error message and exit? For example, I have a program that uses the ternery operator (new in 2.5) and "with" blocks (new in 2.6). I wrote a simple little interpreter-version checker routine which is the first thing the script would call ... except it doesn't get that far. Instead, the script fails during python compilation, before my routines are even called. Thus the user of the script sees some very obscure synax error tracebacks - which pretty much require an expert to deduce that it is simply the case of running the wrong version of python. update I know how to check the version of python. The issue is that some syntax is illegal in older versions of python.     I have a dilemma. I've used DI (read: factory) to provide core components for a homebrew ORM. The container provides database connections, DAO's,Mappers and their resultant Domain Objects on request. So, to instantiate a new User object: $Container = new DI_Container; $ORM = new ORM($Container); $User = $ORM->load('user',1); //at this point the container instantiates a mapper class //and passes a database connection to it via the constructor //the mapper then takes the second argument and loads the user with that id $User->setName('Rumpelstiltskin');//at this point, User must mark itself as "modified" My question is this. At the point when a user sets values on a Domain Object class, I need to mark the class as "dirty" in the Monitor class. I have one of three options as I can see it 1: Pass an instance of the Monitor class to the Domain Object. I noticed this gets marked as recursive in FirePHP - i.e. $this-Monitor-markModified($this) 2: Instantiate the Monitor directly in the Domain Object - does this break DI? 3: Make the Monitor methods static, and call them from inside the Domain Object - this breaks DI too doesn't it? What would be your recommended course of action (other than use an existing ORM, I'm doing this for fun...)

  • Mac OS date command - getting higher temporal resolution

    Hey all, I am trying to use the date command in Terminal on multiple Mac OS X machines that are synced via NTP to synchronize some code in a program. Essentially I am running a program... MyProgram with arguments[date] I can get date to give me the seconds since the Unix epoch with the %M specifier. When I try to use %N to get nanosecond resolution, date just returns N. Is there anyway to get date to give me finer then second resolution? I wouldn't even mind passing two arguments such as (date +%M):arg2 And then converting units in the program.   • Custom webserver caching

    I'm working with a custom webserver on an embedded system and having some problems correctly setting my HTTP Headers for caching. Our webserver is generating all dynamic content as XML and we're using semi-static XSL files to display it with some dynamic JSON requests thrown in for good measure along with semi-static images. I say "semi-static" because the problems occur when we need to do a firmware update which might change the XSL and image files. Here's what needs to be done: cache the XSL and image files and do not cache the XML and JSON responses. I have full control over the HTTP response and am currently: Using ETags with the XSL and image files, using the modified time and size to generate the ETag Setting Cache-Control: no-cache on the XML and JSON responses As I said, everything works dandy until a firmware update when the XSL and image files are sometimes cached. I've seen it work fine with the latest versions of Firefox and Safari but have had some problems with IE. I know one solution to this problem would be simply rename the XSL and image files after each version (eg. logo-v1.1.png, logo-v1.2.png) and set the Expires header to a date in the future but this would be difficult with the XSL files and I'd like to avoid this. Note: There is a clock on the unit but requires the user to set it and might not be 100% reliable which is what might be causing my caching issues when using ETags. What's the best practice that I should employ? I'd like to avoid as many webserver requests as possible but invalidating old XSL and image files after a software update is the #1 priority.
