• What's the logic flaw in this conditional?

  I've created this code branch so that if the permalink settings do no match at least one of the OR conditions, I can execute the "do something" branch. • Access dynamically generated control from code behind

  I load a piece of html which contains something like: <em> < input type="text" value="Untitled" name="ViewTitle" id="ViewTitle" runat="server"> </em> into my control. The html is user defined, do please do not ask me to add them statically on the aspx page. On my page, I have a placeholder and I can use LiteralControl target = new LiteralControl (); // html string contains user-defined controls target.text = htmlstring to render it property. My problem is, since its a html piece, even if i know the input box's id, i cannot access it using FindControl("ViewTitle") (it will just return null) because its rendered as a text into a Literal control and all the input controls were not added to the container's control collections. I definitely can use Request.Form["ViewTitle"] to access its value, but how can I set its value?

  Hi, I have to make a log server in java, and one task is to send the data compressed. Now I am sending it line by line in plain text, but I must compress it. The server handle "HTTP like" request. For example, I can get a log sending "GET xxx.log". This will entablish a TCP connection to the server, the server response with a header and the log, and close the connection. The client, reads line by line and analyzes each LOG entry. I tried some ways without success. My main problem is that I don't know where each line ends(in the client size). Any idea?

  I keep getting the same number outputted for the Total Sales, Minimum Sale, Largest Sale and Average Sale. The Total Invoices is working perfectly, but I cant seem to figure out how to fix the other ones. Instead it is creating one element separated by \r . i'm not sure what \r is but why is putting these into the code ? • '??' Not a valid unicode character, but in the unicode character set?

  Short story: I can't get an entity like '𠂉' to store in a MySQL database, either by using a text field in a Ruby on Rails app (with default UTF-8 encoding) or by inputting it directly with a MySQL GUI app. As far as I can tell, all Chinese characters and radicals can be entered into the database without problem, but not these rarely typed 'character components.' The character mentioned above is unicode U+20089 and html entity &#131209; I can get it to display on the page by entering <html>&#131209;</html> and removing html escaping, but I would like to store it simply as the unicode character and keep the html escaping in place. There are many other Chinese 'components' (parts of full characters, generally consisting of 2 or 3 strokes) that cause the same problem. According to this page, the character mentioned is in the UTF-8 charset: http://www.fileformat.info/info/unicode/char/20089/charset_support.htm But on the neighboring '...20089/index.htm' page, there's an alert saying it's not a valid unicode character. For reference, that entity can be found in Mac OS X by searching through the character palette (international menu, "Show Character Palette"), searching by radical, and looking under the '?' radical. Apologies if this is too open-ended... can a character like this be stored in a UTF-8-based database? How is this character both supported and unsupported, both present in the character set and not valid?

  I have been struggling for the past few days with this problem: Basically, I want to send to a client browser a cookie of the form foo[sha1oftheurl]=[randomvalue] if and only if the cookie has not already been set. e.g. If a client browser requests "/page.html", the HTTP response will be like: resp.http.Set-Cookie = "foo4c9ae249e9e061dd6e30893e03dc10a58cc40ee6=ABCD;" then, if the same client request "/index.html", the HTTP response will contain a header: resp.http.Set-Cookie = "foo14fe4559026d4c5b5eb530ee70300c52d99e70d7=QWERTY;" In the end, the client browser will have 2 cookies: foo4c9ae249e9e061dd6e30893e03dc10a58cc40ee6=ABCD foo14fe4559026d4c5b5eb530ee70300c52d99e70d7=QWERTY Now, that, is not complicated in itself. Which leads to this error when I try to compile: Message from VCC-compiler: Expected CSTR got 'req.http.regex' (program line 940), at ('input' Line 42 Pos 31) if(req.http.Cookie !~ req.http.regex) { ------------------------------##############--- Running VCC-compiler failed, exit 1 VCL compilation failed One could propose to solve my problem by matching on the "abtest" part of the cookie or even "abtest[a-fA-F0-9]{40}": if(!req.http.Cookie ~ "abtest[a-fA-F0-9]{40}") { set req.http.random-value = random.get_rand(); } But this code matches any cookie starting by 'abtest' and containing an hexadecimal string of 40 characters. Which means that if a client requests "/page.html" first, then "/index.html", the condition will evaluate to true even if the cookie for the "/index.html" has not been set. I found in bug report phk or someone else stating that computing regular expressions was extremely expensive which is why they are evaluated during compilation. Considering this, I believe that there is no way of achieving what I want the way I've been trying to. Is there any way of solving this problem, other than writting a vmod? But invoking the service using the XMLHTTP object was more easier & fast. • How to Draw Lines on the Screen

  I've seen occasional questions on mailing lists about how to use the NetBeans Visual Library to draw lines, e.g., to make graphs or diagrams of various kinds by drawing on the screen. So, rather than drag/drop causing widgets to be added, you'd want widgets to be added on mouse clicks, and you'd want to be able to connect those widgets together somehow. Via the code below, you'll be able to click on the screen, which causes a dot to appear. When you have multiple dots, you can hold down the Ctrl key and connect them together. A guiding line appears to help you position the dots exactly in line with each other. When you go to File | Print, you'll be able to preview and print the diagram you've created. Also, once lines are connected to form a rectangle, would be cool to be able to write something within that rectangle. Then one could really create diagrams, which would be pretty cool.

• Generic Adjacency List Graph implementation

  I am trying to come up with a decent Adjacency List graph implementation so I can start tooling around with all kinds of graph problems and algorithms like traveling salesman and other problems... But I can't seem to come up with a decent implementation. This is probably because I am trying to dust the cobwebs off my data structures class. But what I have so far... and this is implemented in Java... is basically an edgeNode class that has a generic type and a weight-in the event the graph is indeed weighted. public class edgeNode<E> { private E y; private int weight; //... getters and setters as well as constructors... } I have a graph class that has a list of edges a value for the number of Vertices and and an int value for edges as well as a boolean value for whether or not it is directed. The brings up my first question, if the graph is indeed directed, shouldn't I have a value in my edgeNode class? Or would I just need to add another vertices to my LinkedList? That would imply that a directed graph is 2X as big as an undirected graph wouldn't it? public class graph { private List<edgeNode<?>> edges; private int nVertices; private int nEdges; private boolean directed; //... getters and setters as well as constructors... } Finally does anybody have a standard way of initializing there graph? I would need the opposite vertices? Say I was representing Highways connected to each city weighted and un-directed (each edge is bi-directional with weights in some fictional distance unit)... Would my implementation be the best way to do that? I found this tutorial online Graph Tutorial that has a connector object. This appears to me be a collection of vertices pointing to each other. So you would have A and B each with there weights and so on, and you would add this to a list and this list of connectors to your graph... That strikes me as somewhat cumbersome and a little dismissive of the adjacency list concept? Am I wrong and that is a novel solution? This is all inspired by steve skiena's Algorithm Design Manual. Which I have to say is pretty good so far. Thanks for any help you can provide.

• fPDF: how to strikeout/strikethrough justified text in multicell?

  Hi, I am generating a PDF with fPDF. I need to strikethrough a long text inside a MultiCell. The text is justified to left and right, which probably is the source of the problem. As a result, the last line is stroked out in, say, 70%, and some letters on the end of it are not stroked out. Any ideas how to calculate the width of last line in multicell?
