  • F# return type coercion

    - by Alex
    Hi, In F# I have a function that returns System.Linq.Expression instances: and System.Object with member this.ToExpression() = match this with | :? System.Int32 -> Expression.Constant(this) :> Expression | :? System.Boolean -> Expression.Constant(this) :> Expression | :? Tml.Runtime.Seq as s -> s.ToExpression() | _ -> failwith "bad expression" If I omit the type coercions on the return values F# will infer the return type of the function to ConstantExpression. My first thought was to explicitly mark the return type as being : #Expression, but that didn't work. Is there a more elegant way of doing this that doesn't involve manually casting return types to the most generic type? Thanks.

  • MATLAB is changing variables when I do not want it to.

    - by WVUstudent
    Here is my problem in a small bit of code used as an example, trial(0) function [] = trial(test) disp(test) if(test == 1) disp('test is one') test = 0; end disp(test) Matlab prints out this: 0 'test is one' 0 This is not my real code, there are over 500 lines of it, but this is a section of my code where the problem has risen. I have used the search function to see if I have been incrementing any variables anywhere, and have put in over 2 hours trying to see why MATLAB is changing my variables when I don't want it to.

  • Good way to make Authentication and Authorization information available between application layers

    - by DutrowLLC
    I have a web application running on Google App Engine (GAE) for JAVA. I'm authenticating the client at the Servlet layer but would like to make the client information available to my business and data layers without having to pass the client object through the arguments of every single function. I'm considering setting up a "session" type object using ThreadLocal. That way any function can just say something like: CurrentUser.getRoles(); Is this a good way to do this or is there something else that is a more accepted solution? Thanks!

  • How to correctly calculate address spaces?

    - by user337308
    Below is an example of a question given on my last test in a Computer Engineering course. Anyone mind explaining to me how to get the start/end addresses of each? I have listed the correct answers at the bottom... The MSP430F2410 device has an address space of 64 KB (the basic MSP430 architecture). Fill in the table below if we know the following. The first 16 bytes of the address space (starting at the address 0x0000) is reserved for special function registers (IE1, IE2, IFG1, IFG2, etc.), the next 240 bytes is reserved for 8-bit peripheral devices, and the next 256 bytes is reserved for 16-bit peripheral devices. The RAM memory capacity is 2 Kbytes and it starts at the address 0x1100. At the top of the address space is 56KB of flash memory reserved for code and interrupt vector table. What Start Address End Address Special Function Registers (16 bytes) 0x0000 0x000F 8-bit peripheral devices (240 bytes) 0x0010 0x00FF 16-bit peripheral devices (256 bytes) 0x0100 0x01FF RAM memory (2 Kbytes) 0x1100 0x18FF Flash Memory (56 Kbytes) 0x2000 0xFFFF

  • Forcing images to not wrap

    - by Mohammad
    I can't touch the html theme but I have access to the css files. <div class="photos"> <img src="a.jpg" alt="" align="left" /> <img src="b.jpg" alt="" align="left" /> <img src="c.jpg" alt="" align="left" /> //align makes the images wrap </div> Unfortunately I can't remove align="left" from the images otherwise this CSS snippet would have done the job .photos{ white-space: nowrap; } .photos img{ display: inline; vertical-align: top; } Any ideas? Is it even possible to make these images line-up horizontally without using the force of a table and only with CSS? Many Thank in advance!

  • Using Delphi's ShellExecute() with the process inheriting the original console?

    - by Phil
    In C I've used the system() function before in a console application and if I start another process using system() it inherits the console window of the process that called it. In Delphi system() doesn't exist so I'm using ShellExecute() to create a new process, but the new process comes up in a new console window. Is there some way that I can make it inherit the handle of the window that's calling it? I've used function GetConsoleWindow(): HWND; stdcall; external 'kernel32.dll'; to get the console window and passed it in the HWND part of ShellExecute(), but that didn't work.

  • Injecting dependency into entity repository

    - by Hubert Perron
    Is there a simple way to inject a dependency into every repository instance in Doctrine2 ? I have tried listening to the loadClassMetadata event and using setter injection on the repository but this naturally resulted in a infinite loop as calling getRepository in the event triggered the same event. After taking a look at the Doctrine\ORM\EntityManager::getRepository method it seems like repositories are not using dependency injection at all, instead they are instantiated at the function level: public function getRepository($entityName) { $entityName = ltrim($entityName, '\\'); if (isset($this->repositories[$entityName])) { return $this->repositories[$entityName]; } $metadata = $this->getClassMetadata($entityName); $customRepositoryClassName = $metadata->customRepositoryClassName; if ($customRepositoryClassName !== null) { $repository = new $customRepositoryClassName($this, $metadata); } else { $repository = new EntityRepository($this, $metadata); } $this->repositories[$entityName] = $repository; return $repository; } Any ideas ?

  • Routing zend request through a default controller when controller not found.

    - by Brett Pontarelli
    Below is a function defined in my Bootstrap class. I must be missing something fundamental in the way Zend does routing and dispatching. What I am trying to accomplish is simple: For any request /foo/bar/* that is not dispatchable for any reason try /index/foo/bar/. The problem I'm having is when the FooController exists I get Action "foo" does not exist. Basically, the isDispatchable is always false. public function run() { $front = Zend_Controller_Front::getInstance(); $request = $front->getRequest(); $dispatcher = $front->getDispatcher(); //$controller = $dispatcher->getControllerClass($request); if (!$dispatcher->isDispatchable($request)) { $route = new Zend_Controller_Router_Route( ':action/*', array('controller' => 'index') ); $router = $front->getRouter(); $router->addRoute('FallBack', $route); } $front->dispatch(); }

  • Way to get VS 2008 to stop forcing indentation on namespaces?

    - by Earlz
    I've never really been a big fan of the way most editors handle namespaces. They always force you to add an extra pointless level of indentation. For instance, I have a lot of code in a page that I would much rather prefer formatted as namespace mycode{ class myclass{ void function(){ foo(); } void foo(){ bar(); } void bar(){ //code.. } } } and not something like namespace mycode{ class myclass{ void function(){ foo(); } void foo(){ bar(); } void bar(){ //code.. } } } Honestly, I don't really even like the class thing being indented most of the time because I usually only have 1 class per file. And it doesn't look as bad here, but when you get a ton of code and lot of scopes, you can easily have indentation that forces you off the screen, and plus here I just used 2-space tabs and not 4-space as is used by us. Anyway, is there some way to get Visual Studio to stop trying to indent namespaces for me like that?

    Dont worry we dont need to find out any bug in this code.. Its working perfectly.:-P My boss came to me and said "Hey just tell me whats the best of way of writing code for a dynamic HTML table (add row, delete row, update row).No need to add any CSS. Just javascript. No Jquery library etc. I was confused that in the middle of the project why he asking for some stupid exercise like this. What ever i wrote the following code and mailed him and after 15 mins i got a mail from him. " I was expecting much better code from a guy like you. Anyways good job monkey.(And with a picture of monkey as attachment.) thats was the mail. Line by line. I want to reply him but before that i want to know about the quality of my code. Is this really shitty...!!! Or he was just making fun of mine. I dont think that code is really shitty. Still correct me if you can.Code is working perfectly fine. Just copy paste it in a HTML file. <html> <head> <title> Exercise CSS </title> <script type="text/javascript"> function add_row() { var table = document.getElementById('table'); var rowCount = table.rows.length; var row = table.insertRow(rowCount); var cell1 = row.insertCell(0); var element1 = document.createElement("input"); element1.type = "text"; cell1.appendChild(element1); var cell2 = row.insertCell(1); var element2 = document.createElement("input"); element2.type = "text"; cell2.appendChild(element2); var cell3 = row.insertCell(2); cell3.innerHTML = ' <span onClick="edit(this)">Edit</span>/<span onClick="delete_row(this)">Delete</span>'; cell3.setAttribute("style", "display:none;"); var cell4 = row.insertCell(3); cell4.innerHTML = '<span onClick="save(this)">Save</span>'; } function save(e) { var elTableCells = e.parentNode.parentNode.getElementsByTagName("td"); elTableCells[0].innerHTML=elTableCells[0].firstChild.value; elTableCells[1].innerHTML=elTableCells[1].firstChild.value; elTableCells[2].setAttribute("style", "display:block;"); elTableCells[3].setAttribute("style", "display:none;"); } function edit(e) { var elTableCells = e.parentNode.parentNode.getElementsByTagName("td"); elTableCells[0].innerHTML='<input type="text" value="'+elTableCells[0].innerHTML+'">'; elTableCells[1].innerHTML='<input type="text" value="'+elTableCells[1].innerHTML+'">'; elTableCells[2].setAttribute("style", "display:none;"); elTableCells[3].setAttribute("style", "display:block;"); } function delete_row(e) { e.parentNode.parentNode.parentNode.removeChild(e.parentNode.parentNode); } </script> </head> <body > <div id="display"> <table id='table'> <tr id='id'> <td> Piemesons </td> <td> 23 </td> <td > <span onClick="edit(this)">Edit</span>/<span onClick="delete_row(this)">Delete</span> </td> <td style="display:none;"> <span onClick="save(this)">Save</span> </td> </tr> </table> <input type="button" value="Add new row" onClick="add_row();" /> </div> </body>

  • Is there a bash shortcut for traversing similar directory structures?

    - by Steve Weet
    The Korn shell used to have a very useful option to cd for traversing similar directory structures e.g. given the following directorys /home/sweet/dev/projects/trunk/projecta/app/models /home/andy/dev/projects/trunk/projecta/app/models Then if you were in the /home/sweet.... directory then you could change to the equivalent directory in andy's structure by typing cd sweet andy So if ksh saw 2 arguments then it would scan the current directory path for the first value, replace it with the second and cd there. Is anyone aware of similar functionality in bash. EDIT 1 Following on from Michal's excellent answer I have now created the following bash function called scd (For Sideways cd) function scd { cd "${PWD/$1/$2}" } EDIT 2 Thanks to @digitalross I can now reproduce the ksh functionality exactly with the code from below (With the addition of a pwd to tell you where you have changed to) cd () { if [ "x$2" != x ]; then builtin cd ${PWD/$1/$2} pwd else builtin cd "$@" fi }

  • 3D effect to distort paper

    - by donpal
    This may be a little hard to describe since I don't have a sample. I'm trying to find a math function or full 3d function in php or a similar language that can help me with the following effect: imagine if you were to take a flat sheet or paper and glue it on a glass of water. It wouldn't be flat any more. It would have a curve, and one of its sides might end up being slightly hidden. Anyone can refer me to a good library or resource on the web where such functions can be found?

    my upload script says my file already exists when i try upload even though different filename <?php // Start a session for error reporting session_start(); ?> <?php // Check, if username session is NOT set then this page will jump to login page if (!isset($_SESSION['username'])) { header('Location: index.html'); } // Call our connection file include('config.php'); // Check to see if the type of file uploaded is a valid image type function is_valid_type($file) { // This is an array that holds all the valid image MIME types $valid_types = array("image/jpg", "image/JPG", "image/jpeg", "image/bmp", "image/gif", "image/png"); if (in_array($file['type'], $valid_types)) return 1; return 0; } // Just a short function that prints out the contents of an array in a manner that's easy to read // I used this function during debugging but it serves no purpose at run time for this example function showContents($array) { echo "<pre>"; print_r($array); echo "</pre>"; } // Set some constants // Grab the User ID we sent from our form $user_id = $_SESSION['username']; $category = $_POST['category']; // This variable is the path to the image folder where all the images are going to be stored // Note that there is a trailing forward slash $TARGET_PATH = "img/users/$category/$user_id/"; mkdir($TARGET_PATH, 0755, true); // Get our POSTed variables $fname = $_POST['fname']; $lname = $_POST['lname']; $contact = $_POST['contact']; $price = $_POST['price']; $image = $_FILES['image']; // Build our target path full string. This is where the file will be moved do // i.e. images/picture.jpg $TARGET_PATH .= $image['name']; // Make sure all the fields from the form have inputs if ( $fname == "" || $lname == "" || $image['name'] == "" ) { $_SESSION['error'] = "All fields are required"; header("Location: error.php"); exit; } // Check to make sure that our file is actually an image // You check the file type instead of the extension because the extension can easily be faked if (!is_valid_type($image)) { $_SESSION['error'] = "You must upload a jpeg, gif, or bmp"; header("Location: error.php"); exit; } // Here we check to see if a file with that name already exists // You could get past filename problems by appending a timestamp to the filename and then continuing if (file_exists($TARGET_PATH)) { $_SESSION['error'] = "A file with that name already exists"; header("Location: error.php"); exit; } // Lets attempt to move the file from its temporary directory to its new home if (move_uploaded_file($image['tmp_name'], $TARGET_PATH)) { // NOTE: This is where a lot of people make mistakes. // We are *not* putting the image into the database; we are putting a reference to the file's location on the server $imagename = $image['name']; $sql = "insert into people (price, contact, category, username, fname, lname, expire, filename) values (:price, :contact, :category, :user_id, :fname, :lname, now() + INTERVAL 1 MONTH, :imagename)"; $q = $conn->prepare($sql) or die("failed!"); $q->bindParam(':price', $price, PDO::PARAM_STR); $q->bindParam(':contact', $contact, PDO::PARAM_STR); $q->bindParam(':category', $category, PDO::PARAM_STR); $q->bindParam(':user_id', $user_id, PDO::PARAM_STR); $q->bindParam(':fname', $fname, PDO::PARAM_STR); $q->bindParam(':lname', $lname, PDO::PARAM_STR); $q->bindParam(':imagename', $imagename, PDO::PARAM_STR); $q->execute(); $sql1 = "UPDATE people SET firstname = (SELECT firstname FROM user WHERE username=:user_id1) WHERE username=:user_id2"; $q = $conn->prepare($sql1) or die("failed!"); $q->bindParam(':user_id1', $user_id, PDO::PARAM_STR); $q->bindParam(':user_id2', $user_id, PDO::PARAM_STR); $q->execute(); $sql2 = "UPDATE people SET surname = (SELECT surname FROM user WHERE username=:user_id1) WHERE username=:user_id2"; $q = $conn->prepare($sql2) or die("failed!"); $q->bindParam(':user_id1', $user_id, PDO::PARAM_STR); $q->bindParam(':user_id2', $user_id, PDO::PARAM_STR); $q->execute(); header("Location: search.php"); exit; } else { // A common cause of file moving failures is because of bad permissions on the directory attempting to be written to // Make sure you chmod the directory to be writeable $_SESSION['error'] = "Could not upload file. Check read/write persmissions on the directory"; header("Location: error.php"); exit; } ?>

  • jquery button click not firing asp.net button

    - by lloydphillips
    I've got a .net button that has an href attribute value set to 'javascript:WebForm_DoPostBackWithOptions(new WebForm_PostBackOptions("ctl00$cp1$ucInvoiceSearch$btnSearch", "", true, "", "", false, true))'. I've got a textbox that when I press enter I want it to fire this event. Doing the 'Enter' event isn't an issue but I can't get the event on the href to fire using .click(). Here's my function so far: $("[id*='tbInvNo']").keyup(function(event){ var $btn = $(".pnl-invoice-search"); if(event.keyCode == 13) $btn.click(); }); I've got no idea how to get this to fire. Hope someone can help - jQuery and asp.net are driving me up the wall today! :(
