  • Fluid width Son of Suckerfish dropdown menus

    - by derekerdmann
    For CSS dropdown menus, I usually stick with the Son of Suckerfish dropdowns. The technique works extremely well, but there's one small thing that's always bothered me: the width of the dropdown links is always fixed. Are there any ways to automatically resize the width of the items in a Suckerfish dropdown menu? If not, are there any other CSS-based dropdown menu strategies that can accomplish this?

  • show a particular div until content is loaded into another div from xml file in phonegap webservice

    - by Balu
    I am doing a webservice in phonegap.Here the application fetch values from a xml file in remote server when user search particular keyword and load the content to a div in my application.Here my problem is I want to show toast message like "loading..." or "progressing..." till the content is loaded into the div of application.I have created a toast message.But I dont know how to hide the toast message after the content is loaded since the time for fetching values from xml file is different for different keywords. The div to which content is loaded is <ul class="searchresults"></ul>.and my toast function is function toast(sMessage){ var container = $(document.createElement("div")); container.addClass("loading"); var message = $(document.createElement("div")); message.addClass("message"); message.text(sMessage); message.appendTo(container); container.appendTo(document.body); container.delay(150).fadeIn("slow", function() { if ($(".searchresults").html().length > 0) { //$(this).remove(); $(this).delay(500).fadeOut("slow", function() { $(this).remove(); }); } }); } Can anyone help me suggesting some ideas.Thanks in advance.

  • Calling function and running it

    - by devs
    I am quite new to objects and OOP. I really don't know how to explain it well but I'll try. So I am trying to read though JSON with JS, the JSON is passed from PHP. This would be easy if all of the information was on the same html page, but I' am trying something that I am new too. So let me show my code... First is the JS which is in app.js var Donors = function(){ var api = this.list; $(document).ready(function(){ $.getJSON(api, function(){ var donorObj = api.payload; $.each(donorObj, function(i, donor){ //console.log(donor.ign); }); }); }); } What I want this part to do is read from the JSON I'm giving it and console.log each name (or donor.ign) when the document is ready. On the html page, or header.php <script> $(function(){ var list = <?php cbProxy(); ?>; var Dons = new Donors(); Dons.list = list; }); </script> the data that's in list is the below JSON. You already know what the rest does, it just passes the JSON to the Donors() function. JSON example: { "code": 0, "payload": [ { "time": 1349661897, "packages": [ "49381" ], "ign": "Notch", "price": "15.99", "currency": "USD" } I'm use to just making functions and calling it on the same page or file and this is my first doing this kind of function. How can I get the function to run with the data I sent it so it console.log() each name.

  • MVC way of handling data input

    - by korki
    I have a data input module where I add the information of my product and its sub information like: product basic info product price info product price details price info and price details are related to product and are lists In my web forms approach I would store my main product object on the view state and I would populate it's pricing info and details while doing ajax postbacks. This way I can create a compact module that is very user friendly in terms of defining a lot of data from one place without the need to enter these data from seperate modules. And when I am done I would do one product.save() and that would persist all the data to the respective tables on db. Now I am building similar app on .net mvc framework and pondering on what would be the good way of handling this on mvc. I don't resonate towards storing all this on client side till I click save. And saving to the db after each action makes me remember the days I was coding on asp. Will appreciate your inputs on ways to approach this on mvc framework

  • Moving .JS files to a CDN: How to manage AJAX requests?

    - by pagewil
    I am thinking of moving my static .JS files to a CDN such as Amazon S3 for performance reasons. As my PHP files and mySQL DB remain on my primary hosting domain what is the best way to manage my JS AJAX requests if they are now cross domain? Currently they look like this within my .JS file (with relative paths): $.ajax({ type: "POST", url: "/myNearbyPhpFile.php", data: {data:someData}, success: function($r){} });

  • Loading a view routed by a URL parameter (e.g., /users/:id) in MEAN stack

    - by Matt Rowles
    I am having difficulties with trying to load a user by their id, for some reason my http.get call isn't hitting my controller. I get the following error in the browser console: TypeError: undefined is not a function at new <anonymous> (http://localhost:9000/scripts/controllers/users.js:10:8) Update I've fixed my code up as per comments below, but now my code just enters an infinite loop in the angular users controllers (see code below). I am using the Angular Express Generator for reference Backend - nodejs, express, mongo routes.js: // not sure if this is required, but have used it before? app.param('username', users.show); app.route('/api/users/:username') .get(users.show); controller.js: // This never gets hit exports.show = function (req, res, next, username) { User.findOne({ username: username }) .exec(function (err, user) { req.user = user; res.json(req.user || null); }); }; Frontend - angular app.js: $routeProvider .when('/users/:username', { templateUrl: function( params ){ return 'users/view/' + params.username; }, controller: 'UsersCtrl' }) services/user.js: angular.module('app') .factory('User', function ($resource) { return $resource('/api/users/:username', { username: '@username' }, { update: { method: 'PUT', params: {} }, get: { method: 'GET', params: { username:'username' } } }); }); controllers/users.js: angular.module('app') .controller('UsersCtrl', ['$scope', '$http', '$routeParams', '$route', 'User', function ($scope, $http, $routeParams, $route, User) { // this returns the error above $http.get( '/api/users/' + $routeParams.username ) .success(function( user ) { $scope.user = user; }) .error(function( err) { console.log( err ); }); }]); If it helps, I'm using this setup

  • HTML, jQuery Suggestion for a List

    - by AnApprentice
    Hello, I'm creating an app that will have a list of messages, each message can be either read or unread. Think GMAIL (though I'm not trying to rebuild that)... My question is when I output all these messages, I need to list if the message is read or unread, I also need to provide the ability to change the message status, from read to unread. That being said, how do you suggest I stored this? A checkbox, a hidden input value? Any thoughts? Thanks

  • Ajax using Rails

    - by Steve
    Hi, I have a favourite and un-favourite functionality in my application and I am using jQuery. This functionality works partially. The page gets loaded, and when I click the 'favourite' button(it is inside add_favourite_div element), it sends a XHR request and the post is set as favourite. Then a new div called "remove_favourite_div" replaces its place.Now when I click the remove favourite(which is part of remove_favourite_div), it sends a normal http request inside of xhr. The structure when the page gets loaded first time <div id="favourite"> <div id="add_favourite_div"> <form method="post" id="add_favourite" action="/viewpost/add_favourite"> <div style="margin: 0pt; padding: 0pt; display: inline;"> <input type="hidden" value="w873BgYHLxQmadUalzMRUC+1ql4AtP3U7f78dT8x9ho=" name="authenticity_token"> </div> <input type="hidden" value="3" name="Favourite[post_id]" id="Favourite_place_id"> <input type="hidden" value="2" name="Favourite[user_id]" id="Favourite_user_id"> <input type="submit" value="Favourite" name="commit"><br> </form> </div> </div> DOM after clicking on the unfavourite button <div id="favourite"> <div id="remove_favourite_div"> <form method="post" id="remove_favourite" action="/viewpost/remove_favourite"> <div style="margin: 0pt; padding: 0pt; display: inline;"> <input type="hidden" value="w873BgYHLxQmadUalzMRUC+1ql4AtP3U7f78dT8x9ho=" name="authenticity_token"> </div> <input type="hidden" value="3" name="Favourite[post_id]" id="Favourite_place_id"> <input type="hidden" value="2" name="Favourite[user_id]" id="Favourite_user_id"> <input type="submit" value="UnFavourite" name="commit"><br> </form> </div> </div> In my application.js, I have two functions to trigger the xhr request $("#add_favourite").submit(function(){ alert("add favourite"); action = $(this).attr("action") $.post(action,$(this).serialize(),null,"script"); return false; }); $("#remove_favourite").submit(function(){ alert("remove favourite"); action = $(this).attr("action"); $.post(action,$(this).serialize(),null,"script"); return false; }); Here, when the post is initially not a favourite, favourite button is displayed and when i clicked on the button, $("#add_favourite").submit gets called and unfavourite form is displayed correctly, but now when I click on the un-favourite button, $("#remove_favourite").submit does not get called. The whole scenario is true in both ways, I mean favourite-Unfavourite and Unfavourite-favourite Can someone please help me to solve this Thanks

  • How to Prevent an Applet from Unloading across web pages?

    - by Francis Shanahan
    I have a large applet that takes some 40 seconds to initialize (cabs are cached so ignore download time for this question). The issue is, if the user goes to Page A which launches the applet (single window) and then navigates to page B, the applet is unloaded. If the user goes back to Page A, they incur the 40 seconds init time once again. I'd like to be able to launch the applet, incurring the 40 seconds init time once and only once. The applet needs to reside inside a single browser window (the same window as my web application). In other words, I cannot launch the applet in a popup. Does anyone have any creative ideas around how to prevent the applet unloading?

  • getting started with Google Closure if you don't compare about minifying/compiling?

    - by Tim
    If you don't care about minifying your code, is there a way to get started using the Google Closure library without having to set up a subversion client and use the compiler? The Notepad sample program on Google's website refers to <script src="closure-library/base.js" > </script > Can you simply download closure-library/base.js somewhere and start playing with the UI examples? The Closure Lite quick-start version doesn't appear to include goog.ui
