    - by Meysam Javadi
suppose this scenario: i have a XML file that is uploaded, i read it to a DataTable with ReadXml method. now i want to insert this DataTable to database. i create a t-sql command to insert database(with StoredProcedure) for example var command =string.Format("exec SyncToDB '{0}','{1}", odatarow.ItemArray.GetValue(0), odatarow..ItemArray.GetValue(1)); Hitherto everything is ok but when i run this code ,all of rows not affected to DB, i think that a timeout occur the code execution. *note:*the number of rows is numerous.(25000). how to solve this?

  • How to make a particular information to be accessible at masterpage, page and usercontrol

    - by Ismail S
I'm fetching some settings out of the database based on a value passed from a query string. Out of these settings, a few will be used in master page, few on my Page and few in my user control (say login control which is a web user control). I've an entity class MySetting for it and there is a method in my data access layer which returns me an instance of MySetting when I pass the value I got in query string. I don't want to fetch settings from the database multiple times for one request. I'm using asp.net web forms with C# and sql server.

  • How can an SQL query return data from multiple tables

    - by Fluffeh
I would like to know how to get data from multiple tables in my database, what types of methods are there to do this, what are joins and unions and how are they different from one another? When should I use each one compared to the others? I am planning to use this in my (for example - PHP) application, but don't want to run multiple queries against the database, what options do I have to get data from multiple tables in a single query? Note: I am writing this as I would like to be able to link to a well written guide on the numerous questions that I constantly come across in the PHP queue, so I can link to this for further detail when I post an answer. The answers cover off the following: Part 1 - Joins and Unions Part 2 - Subqueries Part 3 - Tricks and Efficient Code

  • Can I use Cassandra to store objects?

    - by Sandeep
Hi, My application works like this. A database(Mysql) where there is a command. The command is an object(consists of fields many fields like ints ans strings). There is a webservice which interact with the database and get the command from the db and performs some operation. The way how I am storing the command into db is by stripping all the fields and inserting them in to the db. Can I use cassandra in place of mysql and store the command object?

  • How should I capture clickstream data?

    - by editor
I'd like to start using clickstream analysis to improve a dynamic site's user experience. I'd like to rule out two options: parameterizing URLs (index.php?src=http://www.example.com) and immediate database logging. The former makes pretty ugly URLs and isn't great for SEO and the latter might slow down page render when there are lots of concurrent users. Assuming these aren't viable options, I think I'm left with doing an asynchronous POST to a server side script that runs a database query and returns a 204 (no data) response. Is this the best option for capturing clickstream data?

  • iOS - Losing in-app subscription?

    - by user3280451
I've just built an iOS app that uses a non-reoccuring subscription model. You hit "buy" and then when the client device receives the receipt from the Apple server it whizzes it off to my server to validate it and add the subscription to my user database. If the connection fails before my server has responded then the request is cached, ready to be resent the next time the client comes online. My problem is, what happens if the connection fails between when the user hits the buy button and the receipt is received by the client from Apple? Theres no way for it to know that the purchase has been made? Presumably I should add a "restore purchases" button that sends all of the users receipts to my server which checks if they've already been validated and their respective subscriptions added to the database? Is there a less intrusive way of doing this?

  • hashing password giving different results

    - by geoff
    I am taking over a system that a previous developer wrote. The system has an administrator approve a user account and when they do that the system uses the following method to hash a password and save it to the database. It sends the unhashed password to the user. When the user logs in the system uses the exact same method to hash what the user enters and compares it to the database value. We've run into a couple of times when the database entry doesn't match the user's entry whey they should. So it appears that the method isn't always hashing the value the same. Does anyone know if this method of hashing isn't reliable and how to make it reliable? Thanks. private string HashPassword(string password) { string hashedPassword = string.Empty; // Convert plain text into a byte array. byte[] plainTextBytes = Encoding.UTF8.GetBytes(password); // Allocate array, which will hold plain text and salt. byte[] plainTextWithSaltBytes = new byte[plainTextBytes.Length + SALT.Length]; // Copy plain text bytes into resulting array. for(int i = 0; i < plainTextBytes.Length; i++) plainTextWithSaltBytes[i] = plainTextBytes[i]; // Append salt bytes to the resulting array. for(int i = 0; i < SALT.Length; i++) plainTextWithSaltBytes[plainTextBytes.Length + i] = SALT[i]; // Because we support multiple hashing algorithms, we must define // hash object as a common (abstract) base class. We will specify the // actual hashing algorithm class later during object creation. HashAlgorithm hash = new SHA256Managed(); // Compute hash value of our plain text with appended salt. byte[] hashBytes = hash.ComputeHash(plainTextWithSaltBytes); // Create array which will hold hash and original salt bytes. byte[] hashWithSaltBytes = new byte[hashBytes.Length + SALT.Length]; // Copy hash bytes into resulting array. for(int i = 0; i < hashBytes.Length; i++) hashWithSaltBytes[i] = hashBytes[i]; // Append salt bytes to the result. for(int i = 0; i < SALT.Length; i++) hashWithSaltBytes[hashBytes.Length + i] = SALT[i]; // Convert result into a base64-encoded string. hashedPassword = Convert.ToBase64String(hashWithSaltBytes); return hashedPassword; }

  • How to use SQLiteOpenHelper without or less restrictive use of Context?

    - by Pentium10
If you extend SQLiteOpenHelper, for the Constructor you have to use a Context. I am wondering if there is a way to leave this out, and be able to work with database tables without a Context. Or at least be least restrictive, I mean a way of project/class structure that will make history the several context passings I have to do now. As it is my application has several level of classes, chained in each other, and there are a few that connects to the database, but have no whatsoever influence on the interface, so they don't actually need the Context. Are you creating your classes in the way that you pass each time a Context to them? If not, how you do, how you reuse a Context in a short class?

  • Optimal way to store and pass a date to Javascript

    - by user1493115
I need to store a date-time value in MySQL and subsequently display it on a webpage. Due to its flexibility I usually chose to store a Unix timestamp in the database and convert it with PHP's date() to the desired format. This time however I would like to use MySQL's datetime field (mostly due to 2038) and apply the browser's timezone (hence I cannot simply format it on the server and pass the string to the client). I thought of storing the date as UTC datetime in the database and send it as well-defined format to the client, where it will be further processed. Here I would like to avoid a Unix timestamp but everything else might add additional overhead in processing. Is there any best practice as far as date processing is concerned in a MySQL, PHP, JQuery environment? Thanks.

  • Table Adaptor Error when trying update

    - by JasonMc92
Hi, I have a rather perplexing issue. I am using VB.net and SQL for my project. I have a database, to which the connection works. I also have a data table and data adaptor, both of which I know work. I am trying to update something in the database, yet it isn't working. Assume everything listed is declared correctly. What am I doing wrong? teacher_control_table.Rows(0)("DATA_TeacherLockPasscode") = txtPasscode1.Text table_adaptor2.Update(teacher_control_table) That last line throws the following exception: InvalidOperationException was unhandled. update requires a valid UpdateCommand when passed DataRow collection with modified rows.

  • Is it a good practice to create a reference to application context and use it anywhere?

    - by kknight
    I have to use context in many places of my code such as database operations, preference operations, etc. I don't want to pass in context for every method. Is it a good practice to create a reference to application context at the main Activity and use it anywhere such as database operations? So, I don't need some many context in method parameters, and the code can avoid position memory leak due to use of Activity Context. public class MainActivity extends Activity { public static Context s_appContext; /** Called when the activity is first created. */ @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); s_appContext = this.getApplicationContext();

  • Encog 3.0 backpropagation

    - by Mohamed Shouman
I have a question...I am using Encog framework to train a network using BP. I am training the network using images that has some object say a cat, telling the network which images are cats and which are not. Bellow are my Neural Network results actual=0.1545868370551181 ideal=0.0,actual=0.797896306829758 ideal=1.0,actual=0.1545868370551181 ideal=0.0,actual=0.797896306829758 ideal=1.0 It is my understanding that since different pictures are presented to network some look like cat for example then they should have higher percentage...but i keep getting same percentage for any pic that has a cat which is 0.79 and for other pics i get 0.15...how can i solve this issue!, what is the intuition behind whats going on! Many thanks

  • passing something from child form to parent

    - by Alan Bennett
so i have this form and on it is a combo box populated from a database via a SQL method. and i have another form which allows us to maintain the database table etc. so i make a new instance of the second form doing: Form1 frm = new Form2; frm.show(); once i have done what ever i wanted to do on the second form and i close it, i need to somehow trigger an event or something which will refresh the combo box and the code behind it. i was thinking of some onchange or focus event for the whole form, the problem is i have 5 of these combo boxes and running all the SQL again. i also thought of passing somesort of variable thro but then i would still need an event for that. any ideals would be awesome

  • Realtime MySQL search results on an advanced search page

    - by Andrew Heath
I'm a hobbyist, and started learning PHP last September solely to build a hobby website that I had always wished and dreamed another more competent person might make. I enjoy programming, but I have little free time and enjoy a wide range of other interests and activities. I feel learning PHP alone can probably allow me to create 98% of the desired features for my site, but that last 2% is awfully appealing: The most powerful tool of the site is an advanced search page that picks through a 1000+ record game scenario database. Users can data-mine to tremendous depths - this advanced page has upwards of 50 different potential variables. It's designed to allow the hardcore user to search on almost any possible combination of data in our database and it works well. Those who aren't interested in wading through the sea of options may use the Basic Search, which is comprised of the most popular parts of the Advanced search. Because the advanced search is so comprehensive, and because the database is rather small (less than 1,200 potential hits maximum), with each variable you choose to include the likelihood of getting any qualifying results at all drops dramatically. In my fantasy land where I can wield AJAX as if it were Excalibur, my users would have a realtime Total Results counter in the corner of their screen as they used this page, which would automatically update its query structure and report how many results will be displayed with the addition of each variable. In this way it would be effortless to know just how many variables are enough, and when you've gone and added one that zeroes out the results set. A somewhat similar implementation, at least visually, would be the Subtotal sidebar when building a new custom computer on IBuyPower.com For those of you actually still reading this, my question is really rather simple: Given the time & ability constraints outlined above, would I be able to learn just enough AJAX (or whatever) needed to pull this one feature off without too much trouble? would I be able to more or less drop-in a pre-written code snippet and tweak to fit? or should I consider opening my code up to a trusted & capable individual in the future for this implementation? (assuming I can find one...) Thank you.

  • Running Services.msc as a different User C#

    - by Simon Mark Smith
Hi, I have a requirement to create a simple windows forms application that allows an admin user to manage the Services on remote servers. We don't want to give the admins the usernames and passwords to the servers so these will be encrypted and stored in a database. My question is whether or not it is possible to spawn a Services.msc window when impersonating one of the users stored within the database? I have looked at the ProcessStartInfo class but because Services.msc is not an executable it does not seem to like executing this. Any ideas on a simple way of doing the actual impersonation and loading of Services.msc - say off a button click? Thanks

  • How do I include a newline in a text message sent as email from an ASP.Net application?

    - by Tim Goodman
I have an ASP.Net Application that sends text messages to mobile phones. It does this by sending an email. For instance, if your phone number is 555-555-5555 and your wireless carrier is Verizon, you can send an email to [email protected] and it will show up as a text message. I want to be able to include a newline in the body of the message. How do I do this? Also please note that my ASP.Net program gets the message from a database (MS SQL Server) so what I really need to know is what characters to include in the message body when I store it in my database. I already tried \n but it just showed up in the text message as \n

  • Stored Procedure Permissions Problem

    - by JimR
I have migrated a set of SQL 2000 databases to SQL 2008. Most is working well, however I have some stored procedures that scheduled and run by SQL Server Agent jobs that are giving me troubles. Many of the scheduled stored procedures work, but the stored procs that access a database other than the default databases are failing with the following message: Executed as user: XYZ\YadaYada. The server principal: "XYZ\YadaYada" is not able to access the database "MyOtherDatabaseOnSameServer" under the current security context. [SQL STATE 08004](Error 619) The step failed. Obviously, I changed the names to protect the guilty. The account is a user in all of the relavent databases and is a memeber of db_owner, db_datareader, and db_datawriter. When I run these same procedures from a query window in SMS using the same accounts (I have tried many) they work fine. What am I missing?

  • PHP Echo current filename without extension

    - by Christian Nikkanen
I'm working on a very simple homemade CMS that simply uses a rich text editor and database to save the website contents and displays them to visitors. Heres the save.php that saves it: <?php include 'mysqlconnection.php'; mysql_query("UPDATE Content SET Content='$_POST[edit]' WHERE PageName='$_POST[PageName]'"); mysql_close($con); ?> <?php header('Location:http://xxx.com/Kayttoliittyma'); ?> It just saves it to the database. The pagename part is the part where I need to echo the filename without the extension. It would echo to the forms hidden field. But how?

I am trying to connect to the a database resource I have in my context.xml file.In gwt 1.5 I had set up root.xml in tomcat-conf-gwt-localhost. I have no idea where to set up the resource in GWT 2.0. I tried placing my context.xml file in war-META-INF with no luck. Anyone have an idea where to place the context.xml file to be able to use a jndi database resource in GWT 2.0? Thanks in advanced

  • hibernate connection tomcat

    - by willson albert
I was working in a web site (production) in Tomcat 7, so now I created a copy of this website and change the hibernate.cfg.xml to work with another database ( testing ). <property name="hibernate.connection.url">jdbc:mysql://127.0.0.1:3306/test</property> <property name="hibernate.connection.username">fake</property> <property name="hibernate.connection.password">fake</property> However, when I open the new new site, everything is ok, but, is still working with the production database even when I changed the connection string. Anybody knows if I need to change another thing?. I missing something?. I am quite new in tomcat. Thanks in advance.

  • PHP OOP: Unique method per argument type?

    - by sunwukung
I'm writing a little homebrew ORM (academic interest). I'm trying to adhere to the TDD concept as a training exercise, and as part of that exercise I'm writing documentation for the API as I develop the class. Case in point - I'm working on a classic "getCollection" type mapper class. I want it to be able to retrieve collections of asset X (let's say blog posts) for a specific user, and also collections based on an arbitrary array of numeric values. So - you might have a method like any one of these $User = $UserMapper->load(1); $ArticleCollection = $ArticleMapper->getCollection(range(10,20)); $ArticleCollection = $ArticleMapper->getCollection($User); $ArticleCollection = $ArticleMapper->getCollection($User->getId()); So, in writing the documentation for the getCollection method - I want to declare the @param variable in the Docblock. Is it better to have a unique method for each argument type, or is it acceptable to have a method that delegates to the correct internal method/class based on argument type?
