    - by Rishabh
Hi, I am executing .dtsx package from c#, it was executing fine, if i am passing one variable value from c# code then how can i get it on .dtsx package for my ole db source query. Here is my c# code. string file = @"D:\CYNCZFuzzy\CYNCZFuzzy\Contact.dtsx"; package = app.LoadPackage(file, null); Variables vars = package.Variables; vars["User::parentContactID"].Value = 1028203; pkgResults = package.Execute(); string result = pkgResults.ToString(); I need this 1028203 value on my ole db source query, here my query. select cr.MasterContactID as ParentContactID, c.ID,C.FirstName, C.MiddleName, c.LastName, c.ID as FieldID from Contact c inner join ContactRelation cr on cr.SlaveContactID = c.ID where RelationshipID = 1 AND cr.MasterContactID = ? what I should write on ? for getting 1028203 value from c# page. Thanks in advance...

  • Scalable Database Tagging Schema

    - by Longpoke
EDIT: To people building tagging systems. Don't read this. It is not what you are looking for. I asked this when I wasn't aware that RDBMS all have their own optimization methods, just use a simple many to many scheme. I have a posting system that has millions of posts. Each post can have an infinite number of tags associated with it. Users can create tags which have notes, date created, owner, etc. A tag is almost like a post itself, because people can post notes about the tag. Each tag association has an owner and date, so we can see who added the tag and when. My question is how can I implement this? It has to be fast searching posts by tag, or tags by post. Also, users can add tags to posts by typing the name into a field, kind of like the google search bar, it has to fill in the rest of the tag name for you. I have 3 solutions at the moment, but not sure which is the best, or if there is a better way. Note that I'm not showing the layout of notes since it will be trivial once I get a proper solution for tags. Method 1. Linked list tagId in post points to a linked list in tag_assoc, the application must traverse the list until flink=0 post: id, content, ownerId, date, tagId, notesId tag_assoc: id, tagId, ownerId, flink tag: id, name, notesId Method 2. Denormalization tags is simply a VARCHAR or TEXT field containing a tab delimited array of tagId:ownerId. It cannot be a fixed size. post: id, content, ownerId, date, tags, notesId tag: id, name, notesId Method 3. Toxi (from: http://www.pui.ch/phred/archives/2005/04/tags-database-schemas.html, also same thing here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/20856/how-do-you-recommend-implementing-tags-or-tagging) post: id, content, ownerId, date, notesId tag_assoc: ownerId, tagId, postId tag: id, name, notesId Method 3 raises the question, how fast will it be to iterate through every single row in tag_assoc? Methods 1 and 2 should be fast for returning tags by post, but for posts by tag, another lookup table must be made. The last thing I have to worry about is optimizing searching tags by name, I have not worked that out yet. I made an ASCII diagram here: http://pastebin.com/f1c4e0e53

  • Adding Silverlight pages to existing ASP.net page??

    - by AJ
Hi I know how to add SL page as a whole to existing ASP.net application. We have existing ASP.net page with few tabs. Each tab is a user control. We want to add another tab, which will host Silverlight content. Is it possible to add silverlight content in one of the tabs of a page? Any example links? Another way of putting up the same question : Is it possible to have an ASP.net page with top half as regular asp.net content and other half containing silverlight content? Please advise. Thanks AJ

  • MySQL db Audit Trail Trigger

    - by Natkeeran
    I need to track changes (audit trail) in certain tables in a MySql Db. I am trying to implement the solution suggested here. I have an AuditLog Table with the following columns: AuditLogID, TableName, RowPK, FieldName, OldValue, NewValue, TimeStamp. The mysql stored procedure is the following (this executes fine, and creates the procedure): The call to the procedure such as: CALL addLogTrigger('ProductTypes', 'ProductTypeID'); executes, but does not create any triggers (see the image). SHOW TRIGGERS returns empty set. Please let me know what could be the issue, or an alternate way to implement this. DROP PROCEDURE IF EXISTS addLogTrigger; DELIMITER $ CREATE PROCEDURE addLogTrigger(IN tableName VARCHAR(255), IN pkField VARCHAR(255)) BEGIN SELECT CONCAT( 'DELIMITER $\n', 'CREATE TRIGGER ', tableName, '_AU AFTER UPDATE ON ', tableName, ' FOR EACH ROW BEGIN ', GROUP_CONCAT( CONCAT( 'IF NOT( OLD.', column_name, ' <=> NEW.', column_name, ') THEN INSERT INTO AuditLog (', 'TableName, ', 'RowPK, ', 'FieldName, ', 'OldValue, ', 'NewValue' ') VALUES ( ''', table_name, ''', NEW.', pkField, ', ''', column_name, ''', OLD.', column_name, ', NEW.', column_name, '); END IF;' ) SEPARATOR ' ' ), ' END;$' ) FROM information_schema.columns WHERE table_schema = database() AND table_name = tableName; END$ DELIMITER ;

  • How to return a record from function executed by INSERT/UPDATE rule?

    - by seas
Do the following scheme for my database: create sequence data_sequence; create table data_table { id integer primary key; field varchar(100); }; create view data_view as select id, field from data_table; create function data_insert(_new data_view) returns data_view as $$declare _id integer; _result data_view%rowtype; begin _id := nextval('data_sequence'); insert into data_table(id, field) values(_id, _new.field); select * into _result from data_view where id = _id; return _result; end; $$ language plpgsql; create rule insert as on insert to data_view do instead select data_insert(new); Then type in psql: insert into data_view(field) values('abc'); Would like to see something like: id | field ----+--------- 1 | abc Instead see: data_insert ------------- (1, "abc") Is it possible to fix this somehow? Thanks for any ideas. Ultimate idea is to use this in other functions, so that I could obtain id of just inserted record without selecting for it from scratch. Something like: insert into data_view(field) values('abc') returning id into my_variable would be nice but doesn't work with error: ERROR: cannot perform INSERT RETURNING on relation "data_view" HINT: You need an unconditional ON INSERT DO INSTEAD rule with a RETURNING clause. I don't really understand that HINT. I use PostgreSQL 8.4.

  • Selecting all but one field?

    - by gsquare567
instead of SELECT * FROM mytable, i would like to select all fields EXCEPT one (namely, the 'serialized' field, which stores a serialized object). this is because i think that losing that field will speed up my query by a lot. however, i have so many fields and am quite the lazy guy. is there a way to say... `SELECT ALL_ROWS_EXCEPT(serialized) FROM mytable` ? thanks!

  • Creating a foreign key in MySQL produces error:

    - by SnOrfus
I'm trying to create a foreign key on a table in MySQL and I'm getting a strange error that there seems to be little info about in any of my searches. I'm creating the key with this (emitted from mysql workbench 5.2): ALTER TABLE `db`.`appointment` ADD CONSTRAINT `FK_appointment_CancellationID` FOREIGN KEY (`CancellationID` ) REFERENCES `db`.`appointment_cancellation` (`ID` ) ON DELETE NO ACTION ON UPDATE NO ACTION , ADD INDEX `FK_appointment_CancellationID` (`CancellationID` ASC) ; at which point I get the error: ERROR 1452: Cannot add or update a child row: a foreign key constraint fails (alarmtekcore., CONSTRAINT FK_lead_appointment_CancellationID FOREIGN KEY (CancellationID) REFERENCES lead_appointment_cancellation (`) I've checked here but there's no data in the table.

  • Linq ChangeConflictException (ASP.NET MVC) - occurs when submitting DataContext changes

    - by Alex
System.Data.Linq.ChangeConflictException: 2 of X updates failed. at System.Data.Linq.ChangeProcessor.SubmitChanges(ConflictMode failureMode) at System.Data.Linq.DataContext.SubmitChanges(ConflictMode failureMode) at PROJECT.Controllers.HomeController.ClickProc(Int32 id, String code, String n) This is what I get very often. This action is done thousands of times a day, and I get this exception about once every 5 seconds. From what I understand it happens when something changes in the database in the period between creating DataContext and updating it. Am I right? What's the problem here and how can I fix it?

  • Linq with a long where clause

    - by Jeremy Roberts
Is there a better way to do this? I tried to loop over the partsToChange collection and build up the where clause, but it ANDs them together instead of ORing them. I also don't really want to explicitly do the equality on each item in the partsToChange list. var partsToChange = new Dictionary<string, string> { {"0039", "Vendor A"}, {"0051", "Vendor B"}, {"0061", "Vendor C"}, {"0080", "Vendor D"}, {"0081", "Vendor D"}, {"0086", "Vendor D"}, {"0089", "Vendor E"}, {"0091", "Vendor F"}, {"0163", "Vendor E"}, {"0426", "Vendor B"}, {"1197", "Vendor B"} }; var items = new List<MaterialVendor>(); foreach (var x in partsToChange) { var newItems = ( from m in MaterialVendor where m.Material.PartNumber == x.Key && m.Manufacturer.Name.Contains(x.Value) select m ).ToList(); items.AddRange(newItems); } Additional info: I am working in LINQPad.

  • Syntax for combining joins in mysql

    - by UltraVi01
    I seem to remember reading somewhere that there is a way to combine LEFT JOIN statements into a more simple query. I have the following query and was hoping someone could kindly take a look at it. SET @userId = 8; SELECT ug.user_id, COUNT(DISTINCT goal_id) as matches FROM user_goal ug, user u, profile p LEFT JOIN user_block ub ON @userId = ub.blocked_id LEFT JOIN user_block ub2 ON @userId = ub2.blocker_id LEFT JOIN user_user uu ON @userId = uu.user_id LEFT JOIN friend_request fr ON @userId = fr.user_id WHERE ug.user_id = u.id AND u.profile_id = p.id AND (ub.blocker_id IS NULL OR ub.blocker_id != ug.user_id) AND (ub2.blocked_id IS NULL OR ub2.blocked_id != ug.user_id) AND (uu.user_friends_id IS NULL OR uu.user_friends_id != ug.user_id) AND (fr.to_user_id IS NULL OR (fr.to_user_id != ug.user_id)) AND ug.user_id!=@userId AND p.suggestible AND goal_id IN (SELECT iug.goal_id FROM user_goal iug WHERE user_id=@userId) GROUP BY user_id ORDER BY matches DESC LIMIT 4

  • Are there more secure alternatives to the .Net SQLConnection class?

    - by KeyboardMonkey
Hi SO people, I'm very surprised this issue hasn't been discussed in-depth: This article tells us how to use windbg to dump a running .Net process strings in memory. I spent much time researching the SecureString class, which uses unmanaged pinned memory blocks, and keeps the data encrypted too. Great stuff. The problem comes in when you use it's value, and assign it to the SQLConnection.ConnectionString property, which is of the System.String type. What does this mean? Well... It's stored in plain text Garbage Collection moves it around, leaving copies in memory It can be read with windbg memory dumps That totally negates the SecureString functionality! On top of that, the SQLConnection class is non-inheritable, I can't even roll my own with a SecureString property instead; Yay for closed-source. Yay. A new DAL layer is in progress, but for a new major version and for so many users it will be at least 2 years before every user is upgraded, others might stay on the old version indefinitely, for whatever reason. Because of the frequency the connection is used, marshalling from a SecureString won't help, since the immutable old copies stick in memory until GC comes around. Integrated Windows security isn't an option, since some clients don't work on domains, and other roam and connect over the net. How can I secure the connection string, in memory, so it can't be viewed with windbg?

  • symfony 2 verify type of data stored in a single column

  • Linq to Sql: Update Entity throug a new Object

    - by Dänu
Hey Guys I'd like to update an entity via linq, but since I edit the entity in a view after serializing it, I don't have direct access to the entity inside the data context. I could do it like this: entity.property1 = obj.property1; entity.property2 = obj.property2; ... thats not cool... not cool at all. Next thing I tried is to do it via .attach() like so: context.Table.attach(entity, obj); doesn't work either. So is there another option short of reflection?

  • Detecting changes between rows with same ID

    - by Noah
I have a table containing some names and their associated ID, along with a snapshot: snapshot, id, name I need to identify when a name has changed for an id between snapshots. For example, in the following data: 1, 0, 'MOUSE_SPEED' 1, 1, 'MOUSE_POS' 1, 2, 'KEYBOARD_STATE' 2, 0, 'MOUSE_BUTTONS' 2, 1, 'MOUSE_POS' 2, 2, 'KEYBOARD_STATE' ...the meaning of id 0 changed with snapshot 2, but the others remained the same. I'd like to construct a query that (ideally) returns: 1, 0, 'MOUSE_SPEED' 2, 0, 'MOUSE_BUTTONS' I am using PostgreSQL v8.4.2.

  • Conditionally Summing the same Column multiple times in a single select statement?

    - by btollett
    I have a single table that shows employee deployments, for various types of deployment, in a given location for each month: ID | Location_ID | Date | NumEmployees | DeploymentType_ID As an example, a few records might be: 1 | L1 | 12/2010 | 7 | 1 (=Permanent) 2 | L1 | 12/2010 | 2 | 2 (=Temp) 3 | L1 | 12/2010 | 1 | 3 (=Support) 4 | L1 | 01/2011 | 4 | 1 5 | L1 | 01/2011 | 2 | 2 6 | L1 | 01/2011 | 1 | 3 7 | L2 | 12/2010 | 6 | 1 8 | L2 | 01/2011 | 6 | 1 9 | L2 | 12/2010 | 3 | 2 What I need to do is sum the various types of people by date, such that the results look something like this: Date | Total Perm | Total Temp | Total Supp 12/2010 | 13 | 5 | 1 01/2011 | 10 | 2 | 1 Currently, I've created a separate query for each deployment type that looks like this: SELECT Date, SUM(NumEmployees) AS "Total Permanent" FROM tblDeployment WHERE DeploymentType_ID=1 GROUP BY Date; We'll call that query qSumPermDeployments. Then, I'm using a couple of joins to combine the queries: SELECT qSumPermDeployments.Date, qSumPermDeployments.["Total Permanent"] AS "Permanent" qSumTempDeployments.["Total Temp"] AS "Temp" qSumSupportDeployments.["Total Support"] AS Support FROM (qSumPermDeployments LEFT JOIN qSumTempDeployments ON qSumPermDeployments.Date = qSumTempDeployments.Date) LEFT JOIN qSumSupportDeployments ON qSumPermDeployments.Date = qSumSupportDeployments.Date; Note that I'm currently constructing that final query under the assumption that a location will only have temp or support employees if they also have permanent employees. Thus, I can create the joins using the permanent employee results as the base table. Given all of the data I currently have, that assumption holds up, but ideally I'd like to move away from that assumption. So finally, my question. Is there a way to simplify this down to a single query or is it best to separate it out into multiple queries - if for no other reason that readability.

  • MySQL Database Design with Internationalization

    - by Some name
Hello, I'm going to start work on a medium sized application, and i'm planning it's db design. One thing that I'm not sure about is this. I will have many tables which will need internationalization, such as: "membership_options, gender_options, language_options etc" Each of these tables will share common i18n fields, like: "title, alternative_title, short_description, description" In your opinion which is the best way to do it? Have an i18n table with the same fields for each of the tables that will need them? or do something like: Membership table Gender table ---------------- -------------- id | created_at id | created_at 1 - 22.03.2001 1 - 14.08.2002 2 - 22.03.2001 2 - 14.08.2002 General translation table ------------------------- record_id | table_name | string_name | alternative_title| .... |id_language 1 - membership regular null 1 (english) 1 - membership normale null 2 (italian) 1 - gender man null 1(english) 1 -gender uomo null 2(italian) This would avoid me repeating something like: membership_translation table ----------------------------- membership_id | name | alternative_title | id_lang 1 regular null 1 1 normale null 2 gender_translation table ----------------------------- gender_id | name | alternative_title | id_lang 1 man null 1 1 uomo null 2 and so on, so i would probably reduce the number of db tables, but i'm not sure about performance.I'm not much of a DB designer, so please let me know.
