  • UITableView only pushes to one controller

    - by Mitochondria
So I have my UITableView, with 2 sections and 1 cell in each, and if I click the first one, it works, then the second one, it goes to the first controller. RootViewController is a navigationController, trying to push to ViewControllers. Here's the code for the tableView: // Customize the number of sections in the table view. - (NSInteger)numberOfSectionsInTableView:(UITableView *)tableView { return 2; } // Customize the number of rows in the table view. - (NSInteger)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView numberOfRowsInSection:(NSInteger)section { if(section == 0) return 1; else return 1; } - (NSString *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView titleForHeaderInSection:(NSInteger)section{ if(section == 0){ return @"Terminal/SSH Guides"; }else{ return @"Cydia Tutorials"; } } // Customize the appearance of table view cells. - (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { static NSString *CellIdentifier = @"Cell"; UITableViewCell *cell = [tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:CellIdentifier]; if (cell == nil) { cell = [[[UITableViewCell alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectZero reuseIdentifier:CellIdentifier] autorelease]; } // Set up the cell... if(indexPath.section == 0){ cell.text = @"Changing Password for root"; } else { cell.text = @"Hiding Sections"; } return cell; } - (void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView didSelectRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { id newController; switch (indexPath.row) { case 0: newController = [[rootpassword alloc] initWithNibName:@"rootpassword" bundle:nil]; break; case 1: newController = [[hidingsections alloc] initWithNibName:@"hidingsections" bundle:nil]; break; default: break; } [self.navigationController pushViewController:newController animated:TRUE]; [tableView deselectRowAtIndexPath:indexPath animated:TRUE]; } I'm also having trouble adding more sections and rows/cells to sections. Thanks.

  • New NCover 3.4.2 makes all my MSTest unit tests fail

    - by Steven
Yesterday, I decided to install the newest NCover version (3.4.2). However, when I ran it on my existing .ncover configuration file, the NCover output suddenly reported that all my MSTest tests failed. Of course those tests succeed when ran within Visual Studio. Because of this, NCover isn't able to determine any coverage. Somehow the old configuration doesn't seem to work with the new version. Does anyone have any idea what the problem could be or how to solve it? Btw. Here is my ncover configuration. Project settings: Path to application to profile: c:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 9.0\Common7\IDE\MSTest.exe Arguments for the application to profile: /testcontainer:D:\dev\MyApp\MyApp.Services.Tests.Unit\bin\Debug\MyApp.Services.Tests.Unit.dll /testcontainer:D:\dev\MyApp\MyApp.WS.Tests.Unit\bin\Debug\MyApp.WS.Tests.Unit.dll Working folder: D:\dev\MyApp

  • Why do my CouchDB databases grow so fast?

    - by konrad
I was wondering why my CouchDB database was growing to fast so I wrote a little test script. This script changes an attributed of a CouchDB document 1200 times and takes the size of the database after each change. After performing these 1200 writing steps the database is doing a compaction step and the db size is measured again. In the end the script plots the databases size against the revision numbers. The benchmarking is run twice: The first time the default number of document revision (=1000) is used (_revs_limit). The second time the number of document revisions is set to 1. The first run produces the following plot The second run produces this plot For me this is quite an unexpected behavior. In the first run I would have expected a linear growth as every change produces a new revision. When the 1000 revisions are reached the size value should be constant as the older revisions are discarded. After the compaction the size should fall significantly. In the second run the first revision should result in certain database size that is then keeps during the following writing steps as every new revision leads to the deletion of the previous one. I could understand if there is a little bit of overhead needed to manage the changes but this growth behavior seems weird to me. Can anybody explain this phenomenon or correct my assumptions that lead to the wrong expectations?

  • ASP.NET MVC jQuery autocomplete with url.action helper in a script included in a page.

    - by Boob
I have been building my first ASP.NET MVC web app. I have been using the jQuery autocomplete widget in a number of places like this: <head> $("#model").autocomplete({ source: '<%= Url.Action("Model", "AutoComplete") %>' }); </head> The thing is I have this jQuery code in a number of different places through my web app. So i thought I would create a seperate javascript script (script.js) where I could put this code and then just include it in the master page. Then i can put all these repeated pieces of code in that script and just call them where I need too. So I did this. My code is shown below: In the site.js script I put this function: function doAutoComplete() { $("#model").autocomplete({ source: '<%= Url.Action("Model", "AutoComplete") %>' }); } On the page I have: <head> <script src="../../Scripts/site.js" type="text/javascript"></script> doAutoComplete(); </head> But when I do this I get an Invalid Argument exception and the autocomplete doesnt work. What am I doing wrong? Any ideas?Do i need to pass something to the doAutoComplete function?

  • Cannot execute "LOAD DATA LOCAL INFILE" Mysql query in Rails after a connection reconnection

    - by Ngan
On Rails 2.3.8 (but I think Rails 3 might have this issue as well, not sure): I get an error when trying to execute a LOAD DATA LOCAL INFILE query after reconnecting to a database. I have a process that parses a file that can potentially take a bit of time. During the parsing, Mysql closes the connection due to timeout. This is fine, I do a ActiveRecord::Base.verify_active_connections! and I get the connection back (I do this in several places through my app). However, running a LOAD DATA LOCAL INFILE statement, I get this error: Mysql::Error: The used command is not allowed with this MySQL version It's not a permission issue, I know that for sure. Check out my test in console: ActiveRecord::Base.connection.execute("LOAD DATA LOCAL INFILE '/tmp/test.infile' INTO TABLE users") [Sat Jan 08 00:09:29 2011] (9990) SQL (1.7ms) LOAD DATA LOCAL INFILE '/tmp/test.infile' INTO TABLE users => nil > ActiveRecord::Base.connection.disconnect! => #<Mysql:0x104c6f890> > ActiveRecord::Base.verify_active_connections! It's just this one that giving me the error. I even tested this with a fresh rails app. You'll notice that I am able to do the exact same query before the disconnect. Thanks for the help!

  • Sockets receiving null (Android)

    - by Henrik
I have a android app that is communicating with a server (written in java). Between these two parts I have established a Socket connection and want to send data. The problem I am having is that sometimes, for some users, the information that reaches the server is null. This works (for all phones, all users): Server: int a = Integer.parseInt(in.readLine()); int b = Integer.parseInt(in.readLine()); int c = Integer.parseInt(in.readLine()); int d = Integer.parseInt(in.readLine()); String checksum = in.readLine(); String model = in.readLine(); String device = in.readLine(); String name = in.readLine(); Client: out.println(a); out.println(b); out.println(c); out.println(d); out.println(hash); out.println(Build.MODEL); out.println(Build.DEVICE); String name = fixName(); out.print(name); out.flush(); This does not work (for some users): Server: int a = Integer.parseInt(in.readLine()); String checksum = in.readLine(); String model = in.readLine(); String device = in.readLine(); String name = in.readLine(); String msg = in.readLine(); int version = -1; String test = "hej"; try{ test = in.readLine(); version = Integer.parseInt(test); }catch(Exception e){ e.printStackTrace(); } Client: out.println(a); out.println(hash); out.println(Build.MODEL); out.println(Build.DEVICE); String name = fixName(); if(name == null) name = "John Doe"; out.println(name); String msg = fixMsg(); if(msg == null) name = "nada"; out.println(msg); out.println(curversion); out.flush(); Sometimes, in the second case, the name, msg, and version (the string test) are null at the server side. The catch is triggered because test is null. curversion,a are ints, the rest are strings. Any ideas?

  • how to handle solutions/versioning in subversion

    - by Grayson Mitchell
We are using ankhsvn to check in our .net code, however I have two issues with our setup that I want to resolve. 1\ I thought a key reason to have a tool like svn is that you can rollback to an earlier version of your codebase. If developers are just checking in code, then how can you get version 1.1 (say the current production build), out of subversion? 2\ In VS you have the concept of solutions, many solutions might use the same project. How do I make sure when a developer checks out a solution, they get the appropriate versions of the projects that belong to that solution?

  • JavaScript onload/onreadystatechange not firing when dynamically adding a script tag to the page.

    - by spoon16
I am developing a bookmarklet that requires a specific version of jQuery be loaded on the page. When I have to dynamically insert a jQuery script tag to meet the requirments of the bookmarklet I want to wait for the onload or onreadystatechange event on the script tag before executing any function that requires jQuery. For some reason the onload and/or onreadystatechange events do not fire. Any ideas on what I am doing wrong here? var tag = document.createElement("script"); tag.type = "text/javascript"; tag.src = "http://ajax.microsoft.com/ajax/jquery/jquery-" + version + ".min.js"; tag.onload = tag.onreadystatechange = function () { __log("info", "test"); __log("info", this.readyState); }; document.getElementsByTagName('head')[0].appendChild(tag); The FULL code: http://gist.github.com/405215

  • Too many open files in one of my java routine.

    - by Irfan Zulfiqar
I have a multithreaded code that has to generated a set of objects and write them to a file. When I run it I sometime get "Too many open files" message in Exception. I have checked the code to make sure that all the file streams are being closed properly. Here is the stack trace. When I do ulimit -a, open files allowed is set to 1024. We think increasing this number is not a viable option / solution. [java] java.io.FileNotFoundException: /export/event_1_0.dtd (Too many open files) [java] at java.io.FileInputStream.open(Native Method) [java] at java.io.FileInputStream.<init>(FileInputStream.java:106) [java] at java.io.FileInputStream.<init>(FileInputStream.java:66) [java] at sun.net.www.protocol.file.FileURLConnection.connect(FileURLConnection.java:70) [java] at sun.net.www.protocol.file.FileURLConnection.getInputStream(FileURLConnection.java:161) [java] at java.net.URL.openStream(URL.java:1010) Now what we have identified so far by looking closely at the list of open files is that the VM is opening same class file multiple times. /export/BaseEvent.class 236 /export/EventType1BaseEvent.class 60 /export/EventType2BaseEvent.class 48 /export/EventType2.class 30 /export/EventType1.class 14 Where BaseEvent is partent of all the classes and EventType1 ant EventType2 inherits EventType1BaseEvent and EventType2BaseEvent respectively. Why would a class loader load the same class file 200+ times. It seems it is opening up the base class as many time it create any child instance. Is this normal? Can it be handler any other way apart from increasing the number of open files?

  • Java XML Output - proper indenting for child items

    - by Dr1Ku
Hello, I'd like to serialize some simple data model into xml, I've been using the standard java.org.w3c -related code (see below), the indentation is better than no "OutputKeys.INDENT", yet there is one little thing that remains - proper indentation for child elements. I know that this has been asked before on stackoverflow , yet that configuration did not work for me, this is the code I'm using : DocumentBuilderFactory factory = DocumentBuilderFactory.newInstance(); DocumentBuilder builder = factory.newDocumentBuilder(); Document doc = builder.newDocument(); doc = addItemsToDocument(doc); // The addItemsToDocument method adds childElements to the document. TransformerFactory transformerFactory = TransformerFactory.newInstance(); transformerFactory.setAttribute("indent-number", new Integer(4)); // switching to setAttribute("indent-number", 4); doesn't help Transformer transformer = transformerFactory.newTransformer(); transformer.setOutputProperty(OutputKeys.METHOD, "xml"); transformer.setOutputProperty(OutputKeys.INDENT, "yes"); DOMSource source = new DOMSource(doc); StreamResult result = new StreamResult(outFile); // outFile is a regular File outFile = new File("some/path/foo.xml"); transformer.transform(source, result); The output produced is : <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="no"?> <stuffcontainer> <stuff description="something" duration="240" title="abc"> <otherstuff /> </stuff> </stuffcontainer> Whereas I would want it (for more clarity) like : <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="no"?> <stuffcontainer> <stuff description="something" duration="240" title="abc"> <otherstuff /> </stuff> </stuffcontainer> I was just wondering if there is a way of doing this, make it properly indented for the child elements. Thank you in advance ! Happy Easter coding :-) !

  • How do you deal with the conflict between ActiveSupport::JSON and the JSON gem?

    - by Luke Francl
I am stumped with this problem. ActiveSupport::JSON defines to_json on various core objects and so does the JSON gem. However, the implementation is not the same -- the ActiveSupport version takes arguments and the JSON gem version doesn't. I installed a gem that required the JSON gem and my app broke. The issue is that I'm using to_json in a controller that returns a list of objects, but I want to control which attributes are returned. When code anywhere in my system does require 'json' I get this error message: TypeError: wrong argument type Hash (expected Data) I tried a couple of things that I read online to fix it, but nothing worked. I ended up re-writing the gem to use ActiveSupport::JSON.decode instead of JSON.parse. This works but it's not sustainable...I can't be forking gems every time I want to use a gem that requires the JSON gem. Update: The best solution of this problem is to upgrade to Rails 2.3 or higher, which fixed it.

  • To keep my own versioned app or not.

    - by Esteban Feldman
Hi all. I need some opinions here. I'm working on a Django project using buildout to get the dependencies, etc... I use mercurial as DVCS. Now... I need to customize one of the dependencies, so I can do one of the following: (* The changes may not be useful for everyone else.) 1- Do a fork of the project in (github, bitbucket, etc...) maintain my version, and get the dependency with (mercurial or git) recipe. 2- Clone the project, put it in the PYTHONPATH, erase DVCS dirs and add it to my projects version. So every change will be private. Here I need to erase all the info from their DVCS or something. Any other you can think of. I'm missing something? I'm too off? Thanks!

  • SVN Best practice for a "branch" of your main product ?

    - by Steffen
At my job we develop websites - however now we're going to make a "whitelabelled" version of a site, which basically means it's the same site, however with a different logo and hosted on a different domain. Also it'll have minor graphical differences, but overall the engine is the same. My initial thought for keeping this in SVN, was to just make a branch for it - however I'm not quite certain if this could give me trouble later on. Normally I keep my branches somewhat short lived - mainly used for developing a new feature, without disturbing trunk. We need to be able to merge trunk changes into this "whitelabel" version, which I why I thought about branching it in the first place. So what's the best way to archive this ?

  • lots of backbone views - performance issues?

    - by ksol
tl;dr: I wonder if having lots (100+ for the moment, potentially up to 1000/2000 or more) of backbone views (as a cell of a table) is too heavy or not The project I'm working on revolves around a planning view. There one row per user that covers 6 hours of a day, each hour splitted in 4 slots of 15mn. This planning is used to add "reservations" when clicking on a slot, and should handle hovering of the correct slots, and also handle when it is NOT possible to make a reservation - ie. prevent user click on an "unavailable" slot. There is many reasons why a slot can't be clicked on: the user is not available at this time, or the user is in a reservation; or the app needs to "force" a delay slot between two reservations. Reservations (a div) are rendered in a slot (a cell of a table), and by toying with dimensions, hovers the right number of slots. All this screen is handled with backbone. So For each slot I'm hovering on, I need to check wether I can do a reservation here or not. As of this moment, I use this by toying with the data attributes on the slots : when a reservation object is added, the slots covered are "enhanced with (among others) the reservation object (the backbone view object). But in some cases I don't quite have a grasp on now, it mixes up, and when the reservation view is removed, the slots are not "cleaned up" : the previous class is not reset correctly. It is probably something I've done wrong or badly, but this is only going to get heavier; I think I should use another class of Backbone views here, but I'm afraid the number of slots and thereof of views objects will be high and cause performance issue. I don't know mush about js perf so I'd like to have some feedback before jumping on that train. Any other advice on how to do this would be quite welcomed too. Thanks for your time. If this is not clear enough, tell me, I'll try and rephrase it.

  • Using git filter-branch to remove commits by their commit message

    - by machineghost
In our repository we have a convention where every commit message starts with a certain pattern: Redmine #555: SOME_MESSAGE We also do a bit of rebasing to bring in the potential release branch's changes to a specific issue's branch. In other words, I might have branch "foo-555", but before I merge it in to branch "pre-release" I need to get any commits that pre-release has that foo-555 doesn't (so that foo-555 can fast-forward merge in to pre-release). However, because pre-release sometimes changes, we sometimes wind up with situations where you bring in a commit from pre-release, but then that commit later gets removed from pre-release. It's easy to identify commits that came from pre-release, because the number from their commit message won't match the branch number; for instance, if I see "Redmine #123: ..." in my foo-555 branch, I know that its not a commit from my branch. So now the question: I'd like to remove all of the commits that "don't belong" to a branch; in other words, any commit that: Is in my foo-555 branch, but not in the pre-release branch (pre-release..foo-555) Has a commit message that doesn't start with "Redmine #555" but of course "555" will vary from branch to branch. Is there any way to use filter-branch (or any other tool) to accomplish this? Currently the only way I can see to do it is to do go an interactive rebase ("git rebase -i") and manually remove all the "bad" commits.

  • How to hide labels in html

    - by user225269
I have this code which depends on this javascript from dynamic drive: http://dynamicdrive.com/dynamicindex16/formdependency.htm Its a form dependency manager. Which will show or hide elements depending on what you choose from the forms that are revealed: I don't know why but If I alter the code from this: <td> <label>ID Number<input type="checkbox" name="id" class="DEPENDS ON info BEING student"></label> </td> </tr> To this: <td> <input type="hidden" class="DEPENDS ON info BEING student"> <label style="margin-bottom: 1em; padding-bottom: 1em; border-bottom: 3px silver groove;"></label> <tr> <td> <input type="checkbox" name="id" class="DEPENDS ON info BEING student"><label>ID Number</label> </td> </tr> Note: The only change that I did here is to transfer the label from the left side of the checkbox to the right side so that they will look better. But when I do this. The labels will be visible even if I did not yet click on the button that will make it visible(but without the checkboxes). And when I click on that button, that's the only time when the checkbox will appear on the left side of the labels. The checkbox is ok, but the label is not. And the javascript is working properly. What do I do so that the checkbox and label will go together?

  • How to create instances of related models in Django

    - by sevennineteen
I'm working on a CMSy app for which I've implemented a set of models which allow for creation of custom Template instances, made up of a number of Fields and tied to a specific Customer. The end-goal is that one or more templates with a set of custom fields can be defined through the Admin interface and associated to a customer, so that customer can then create content objects in the format prescribed by the template. I seem to have gotten this hooked up such that I can create any number of Template objects, but I'm struggling with how to create instances - actual content objects - in those templates. For example, I can define a template "Basic Page" for customer "Acme" which has the fields "Title" and "Body", but I haven't figured out how to create Basic Page instances where these fields can be filled in. Here are my (somewhat elided) models... class Customer(models.Model): ... class Field(models.Model): ... class Template(models.Model): label = models.CharField(max_length=255) clients = models.ManyToManyField(Customer, blank=True) fields = models.ManyToManyField(Field, blank=True) class ContentObject(models.Model): label = models.CharField(max_length=255) template = models.ForeignKey(Template) author = models.ForeignKey(User) customer = models.ForeignKey(Customer) mod_date = models.DateTimeField('Modified Date', editable=False) def __unicode__(self): return '%s (%s)' % (self.label, self.template) def save(self): self.mod_date = datetime.datetime.now() super(ContentObject, self).save() Thanks in advance for any advice!

  • Mongrel with Ruby 1.9.

    - by JussiR
When starting the server, I get this strange error after updating to Ruby 1.9: " [BUG] cross-thread violation on rb_gc() ruby 1.8.6 (2008-08-11) [i386-mswin32] This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information. " My mongrel version is 1.1.6, which should be compatible with Ruby 1.9. I also still have the Ruby 1.8.6 installation, so i assume that for some reason mongrel tries to access that and kills ruby? My rails version is 2.3.4, in case it matters.

  • Why is .NET faster than C++ in this case?

    - by acidzombie24
    -edit- I LOVE SLaks comment. "The amount of misinformation in these answers is staggering." :D Calm down guys. Pretty much all of you were wrong. I DID make optimizations. It turns out whatever optimizations I made wasn't good enough. I ran the code in GCC using gettimeofday (I'll paste code below) and used g++ -O2 file.cpp and got slightly faster results then C#. Maybe MS didn't create the optimizations needed in this specific case but after downloading and installing mingw I was tested and found the speed to be near identical. Justicle Seems to be right. I could have sworn I use clock on my PC and used that to count and found it was slower but problem solved. C++ speed isn't almost twice as slower in the MS compiler. When my friend informed me of this I couldn't believe it. So I took his code and put some timers onto it. Instead of Boo I used C#. I constantly got faster results in C#. Why? The .NET version was nearly half the time no matter what number I used. C++ version: #include <iostream> #include <stdio.h> #include <intrin.h> #include <windows.h> using namespace std; int fib(int n) { if (n < 2) return n; return fib(n - 1) + fib(n - 2); } int main() { __int64 time = 0xFFFFFFFF; while (1) { int n; //cin >> n; n = 41; if (n < 0) break; __int64 start = __rdtsc(); int res = fib(n); __int64 end = __rdtsc(); cout << res << endl; cout << (float)(end-start)/1000000<<endl; break; } return 0; } C# version: using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Linq; using System.Text; using System.Runtime.InteropServices; using System.ComponentModel; using System.Threading; using System.IO; using System.Diagnostics; namespace fibCSTest { class Program { static int fib(int n) { if (n < 2)return n; return fib(n - 1) + fib(n - 2); } static void Main(string[] args) { //var sw = new Stopwatch(); //var timer = new PAB.HiPerfTimer(); var timer = new Stopwatch(); while (true) { int n; //cin >> n; n = 41; if (n < 0) break; timer.Start(); int res = fib(n); timer.Stop(); Console.WriteLine(res); Console.WriteLine(timer.ElapsedMilliseconds); break; } } } } GCC version: #include <iostream> #include <stdio.h> #include <sys/time.h> using namespace std; int fib(int n) { if (n < 2) return n; return fib(n - 1) + fib(n - 2); } int main() { timeval start, end; while (1) { int n; //cin >> n; n = 41; if (n < 0) break; gettimeofday(&start, 0); int res = fib(n); gettimeofday(&end, 0); int sec = end.tv_sec - start.tv_sec; int usec = end.tv_usec - start.tv_usec; cout << res << endl; cout << sec << " " << usec <<endl; break; } return 0; }

  • How to change the assemblyIdentity of an executable

  • TSQL - make a literal float value

    - by David B
I understand the host of issues in comparing floats, and lament their use in this case - but I'm not the table author and have only a small hurdle to climb... Someone has decided to use floats as you'd expect GUIDs to be used. I need to retrieve all the records with a specific float value. sp_help MyTable -- Column_name Type Computed Length Prec -- RandomGrouping float no 8 53 Here's my naive attempt: --yields no results SELECT RandomGrouping FROM MyTable WHERE RandomGrouping = 0.867153569942739 And here's an approximately working attempt: --yields 2 records SELECT RandomGrouping FROM MyTable WHERE RandomGrouping BETWEEN 0.867153569942739 - 0.00000001 AND 0.867153569942739 + 0.00000001 -- 0.867153569942739 -- 0.867153569942739 In my naive attempt, is that literal a floating point literal? Or is it really a decimal literal that gets converted later? If my literal is not a floating point literal, what is the syntax for making a floating point literal? EDIT: Another possibility has occurred to me... it may be that a more precise number than is displayed is stored in this column. It may be impossible to create a literal that represents this number. I will accept answers that demonstrate that this is the case. EDIT: response to DVK. TSQL is MSSQLServer's dialect of SQL. This script works, and so equality can be performed deterministically between float types: DECLARE @X float SELECT top 1 @X = RandomGrouping FROM MyTable WHERE RandomGrouping BETWEEN 0.839110948199148 - 0.000000000001 AND 0.839110948199148 + 0.000000000001 --yields two records SELECT * FROM MyTable WHERE RandomGrouping = @X I said "approximately" because that method tests for a range. With that method I could get values that are not equal to my intended value. The linked article doesn't apply because I'm not (intentionally) trying to straddle the world boundaries between decimal and float. I'm trying to work with only floats. This isn't about the non-convertibility of decimals to floats.

  • Getting attachments from a mail account with .NET

    - by MarceloRamires
I'd like a free library for .NET to get attachments from an account (such as gMail, or others) via imap4 (not necessarely), and save them in a folder. Ideally it would allow me to get a list of them, and download only some given ones (filtering by extension, name, and/or size) and be free. I've already done this with a trial version of EAGetMail, but for the purpose of what i'm trying to attempt buying the unlimited version of this library isn't quite suitable (i didn't know that this functionality itself was one among the ones with limited time). ---[edit - Higuchi]--- I'm using the following code: Dim cl As New Pop3Client() cl.UserName = "[email protected]" cl.Password = "mypassword" cl.ServerName = "pop.gmail.com" cl.AuthenticateMode = Pop3AuthenticateMode.Pop cl.Ssl = False cl.Authenticate() //takes a while, but passes even if there's a wrong password Dim mg As Pop3Message = cl.GetMessage(1) //gives me an exception: Message = "Pop3 connection is closed" As commented, I am having some issues while trying to connect and get the first e-mail. any help ?

  • Refresher on Java classes in separate files

    - by JohnFaig
    I need a refresher on moving classes from one file into two files. My sample code is in one file called "external_class_file_main". The program runs fine and the code is shown below: Public class external_class_file_main { public static int get_a_random_number (int min, int max) { int n; n = (int)(Math.random() * (max - min +1)) + min; return (n); } public static void main(String[] args) { int r; System.out.println("Program starting..."); r = get_a_random_number (1, 5); System.out.println("random number = " + r); System.out.println("Program ending..."); } } I move the get_a_random_number class to a separate file called "external_class_file". When I do this, I get the following error: Exception in thread "main" java.lang.Error: Unresolved compilation problem: The method get_a_random_number(int, int) is undefined for the type external_class_file_main at external_class_file_main.main(external_class_file_main.java:20) The "external_class_file_main" now contains: public class external_class_file_main { public static void main(String[] args) { int r; System.out.println("Program starting..."); r = get_a_random_number (1, 5); System.out.println("random number = " + r); System.out.println("Program ending..."); } } The "external_class_file" now contains: public class external_class_file { public static int get_a_random_number (int min, int max) { int n; n = (int)(Math.random() * (max - min +1)) + min; return (n); } }

  • Is there an easy way to make `boost::ptr_vector` more debugger friendly in Visual Studio?

    - by Billy ONeal
I'm considering using boost::ptr_container as a result of the responses from this question. My biggest problem with the library is that I cannot view the contents of the collection in the debugger, because the MSVC debugger doesn't recognize it, and therefore I cannot see the contents of the containers. (All the data gets stored as void * internally) I've heard MSVC has a feature called "debugger visualizers" which would allow the user to make the debugger smarter about these kinds of things, but I've never written anything like this, and I'm not hugely firmiliar with such things. For example, compare the behavior of boost::shared_ptr with MSVC's own std::tr1::shared_ptr. In the debugger (i.e. in the Watch window), the boost version shows up as a big mess of internal variables used for implementing the shared pointer, but the MSVC version shows up as a plain pointer to the object (and the shared_ptr's innards are hidden). How can I get started either using or implementing such a thing?
