• Using Postgres on Volusion site

  Okay, I apologize if this is so basic that I should know the answer, but I'm not sure where else to go for the solution. I would like to start a small store site using Volusion. I would like some custom ASP code to query data that I currently have in a Postgres database. I would like to be able to just move the database file(s) onto the Volusion server via ftp and access them from my store site (via the custom ASP). Do I need to install Postgres onto the server to do this, or can I just ftp my database file(s) and access them with the ASP code? I think I need to install Postgres, but would like to do this without such an installation if possible.

• Getting IIS redirects proper for second HTTP site

  2x IIS sites on one host. I have mainsite.domain.com and secondsite.seconddomain.com. Both sites point to the same IP in public DNS. Nothing wrong with mainsite.domain.com, it redirects and goes to its own HTTPS site without issue. Going to secondsite.seconddomain.com without HTTPS, it re-directs me to the HTTPS mainsite.domain.com when I want it to go to its own secured site. It's odd that HTTPS secondsite.seconddomain.com still works as expected. Is there anyway to make HTTP of secondsite.seconddomain.com redirect to its own HTTPS entry?

How would someone go about doing this on IIS7.5 for a ASP.NET MVC site? The plan so far: Register domain eg static.com, create a new website in IIS Manually copy the js / css / images folders from MVC as is so that they have the same paths on the new server Enable IIS gzip settings (js/css = high compression, images = none) Set caching with far future expiry dates <clientCache cacheControlCustom="public" /> in the web.config Never set any cookies on the static.com site Combine and minimize js / css Auto deploy changes in static content with WebDeploy Is this plan correct? And how can you use WebDeploy to deploy the whole web app to one server and then only the static items to another? • CPanel has two entries for site, need to use SSL one

  I have a website that is meant to be using SSL, however there are two entries in Cpanel's httpd.conf which seem to be causing an issue. When I visit just www.website.com I require it to go to https://www.website.com. However I have to write the https:// directly for the site to work. The secure site also has a different IP. • Keep ASP.NET site and content separate

  I have an ASP.NET site in folder x. Currently lots of other static content gets added to folder x and gets mixed in, making it one big mess. I would like to keep the ASP.NET site and the content separate somehow. I know you can create virtual directories in IIS, but there are LOTS and even some content in the root. The content people are not technical and really need an easy way to add it. I would stick everything in a subfolder (they don't touch anything outside, I don't touch their folder), but that would change their URLs (www.example.com/something to www.example.com/content/something). I almost need a way to "merge" two folders and have them act as one. I'm guessing that is impossible since there could be file conflicts, etc. Any other ways I can achieve this?

• Url-based web site publishing on Windows Server platform

  I have a Windows 2008 Enterprise SP2 server in a datacenter. It is 32bit OS. I need to be able to do a "smart" url-based web site publishing. So that with a single external IP I can publish many sites on port 80, and some firewall logic resolves, based on a requested URL, which site in IIS gets the request. Forefront TMG 2010 has this feature, but it is not supported on 32bit systems. Is there a software solution that can satissfy my need on Windows 2K8 platform? Thank you. P.S. Perhaps there is a workaround or a tweak to do what I need in IIS?

• compromised site

  So, I have a web site that has been compromised twice in two weeks. every index.php and .js file gets a script injecting into the source code of the file. The problem is that I have no idea how they're doing it. I've seen this done via sql injection before, but I don't know how they are actually writing to the file. I've dug through the Apache logs but didn't find anything interesting. The site is built using the cakephp framework on a godaddy shared server. Anybody know what secturity settings or log files to check to see how they are doing this?

• curl makes a site work externally once run locally (apache)

  Currently when I visit mysite.mydomain.com external to the local network I get in the browser: This is the default web page for this server. Nothing to see here. This is not even the "It Work's" Apache page. Then if locally (Apache2 on Ubuntu Server 12.04 with curl installed ) type: curl mysite.mydomain.com I get the site I expect. Then the next time i visit the page externally I get the correct site. Has anyone seen this before? Tips/Suggestions?

  Hi I have Windows 7 Professional. With IIS 7 or 7.5 I have set up a little website. So far all works fine on http://Localhost:80 - I can see the site. Then I set up the firewall so port 80 is open. My Router routes TCP:80 to my pc. But from my second pc I cant access the site. I can ping the other pc but why I can't access the page through the LAN? Please help!

• Prevent Python from caching the imported modules

  While developing a largeish project (split in several files and folders) in Python with IPython, I run into the trouble of cached imported modules. The problem is that instructions import module only reads the module once, even if that module has changed! So each time I change something in my package, I have to quit and restart IPython. Painful. Is there any way to properly force reloading some modules? Or, better, to somehow prevent Python from caching them? I tried several approaches, but none works. In particular I run into really, really weird bugs, like some modules or variables mysteriously becoming equal to None... The only sensible resource I found is Reloading Python modules, from pyunit, but I have not checked it. I would like something like that. A good alternative would be for IPython to restart, or restart the Python interpreter somehow. So, if you develop in Python, what solution have you found to this problem?

  I've installed all apps in a project, then added a site in the sites section, and deleted example.com. Now Pages section in Django CMS 2.0 isn't working: it raises a DoesNotExist exception: Site matching query does not exist. at http://127.0.0.1:8000/admin/cms/page/ The section worked normally before I deleted the example.com site. In settings.py I have SITE_ID = 2 line. Still, in this call: return Site.objects.get(pk=site_pk) in traceback, site_pk=1. How can I fix this?

• Comparison of the multiprocessing module and pyro?

  I use pyro for basic management of parallel jobs on a compute cluster. I just moved to a cluster where I will be responsible for using all the cores on each compute node. (On previous clusters, each core has been a separate node.) The python multiprocessing module seems like a good fit for this. I notice it can also be used for remote-process communication. If anyone has used both frameworks for remote-process communication, I'd be grateful to hear how they stack up against each other. The obvious benefit of the multiprocessing module is that it's built-in from 2.6. Apart from that, it's hard for me to tell which is better.

• Accessing one process's memory contents from another module

  I am developing a virtual device driver such that the user can write to the driver a process' pid and a virtual address, and the module will use these two values to get the memory contents of the target process. I am wondering if there is any easy functions that can fetch user page's data at this virtual address. I have tried get_user but this is not possible because the modules executing get_user at another process's context. I also tried to use ptrace_readdata, however, it seems that the file at /kernel/ptrace.c leaves a function access_process_vm undefined and also I don't know how to compile the source code of my module with this file (the linker seaches file in /linux/include by default). I am wondering if there are any other solutions...

• WCF Windows Service - Long operations/Callback to calling module

  I have a Windows Service that takes the name of a bunch of files and do operations on them (zip/unzip, updating db etc). The operations can take time depending on size and number of files sent to the service. (1) The module that is sending a request to this service waits until the files are processed. I want to know if there is a way to provide a callback in the service that will notify the calling module when it is finished processing the files. Please note that multiple modules can call the service at a time to process files so the service will need to provide some kind of a TaskId I guess. (2) If a service method is called and is running and another call is made to the same service, then how will that call be processed(I think there is only one thread asociated with the service). I have seen that when the service is taking time in processing a method, the threads associated with the service begin to increase.

• Apps not showing in Django admin site

  I have a Django project with about 10 apps in it. But the admin interface only shows Auth and Site models which are part of Django distribution. Yes, the admin interface is up and working but none of my self-written apps shows there.   I'm new to Drupal 6.10 CMS and PHP too. I'm creating my website with drupal and I have found a module called Webform I like it, it's pretty easy to create forms with different types of fields and file uploading. The one thing that i can't figure out is how to add Rich Text before all fields. Something like introduction to the form. This module has "Description" field that will show text as a plain text but it doesn't have rich text in it. What can I use to make that happen. Is it possible to hardcode html there or is there any other modules that can allow to do something like that? Thanks

• Site Actions menu in SharePoint is WSS-like, whereas I have installed MOSS

  I had WSS installed on my VM and then uninstalled in order to install MOSS Enterprise I can see a lot of the MOSS stuff in the Central Administration pages but when I create a new web application and site collection, my Site Actions dropdown is showing the WSS version, i.e. Create, Edit Page and Site Settings as opposed to the MOSS menu which has View All Site Content, View Reports, Manage Content and Structure etc. I just tried deleting my web app and creating it all again but it's come back with the same thing again. Is somewhere remembering that I used to have WSS installed? (yes I know MOSS is built on top of WSS but you know what I mean!)

• Django Caught an exception while rendering: No module named registration

  I seem to have run into a bit of an issue. I am busy creating an app, and over the last few weeks setup my server to use Git, mod_wsgi to host this app. Since deploying it, everything seems to be running smoothly however, I had to go through all my files and insert the absolute url of the project to make sure it works fine. on my local machine from registration.models import UserRegistration on server from myapp.registration.models import UserRegistration Am I doing something wrong? And this has also caused an issue for me where I cannot access my django admin interface.
