  • Adding a subview to UITableCellView

    I want to add a subview to my UITableCellView subclass. However, non of the provided views in the class seem to be able to do exactly what I was looking for. I basically want to add my own background view, filling the whole cell. However, if I replace the backgroundView, the style from the grouped table view layout isn't displayed anymore. If I add a subview to backgroundView, the subview is not shown at all. If I add a subview to the contentView, I can't draw behind the accessory icon. What am I missing?

  • AsyncTask, RejectedExecutionException and Task Limit

    I am fetching lots of thumbnails from a remote server and displaying them in a grid view, using AsyncTask. The problem is, my grid view displays 20 thumbnails at a time, so that creates 20 AsyncTasks and starts 20 executes, one per thumbnail. I get RejectedExecution exception in my code. I recall reading somewhere that there is a limit to number of tasks that AsyncTask can have in its queue at a time, i might be hitting that. Was this bar lifted? Is there a way to increase this limit? Is it safe to just ignore this exception?(by having an empty catch(RejectedException e){} block?) I am running this code on Android 1.6 emulator and the API level in my code(minSDKVersion is 3). [EDIT: Added SDK and API level info]

    I have an edit view that is displaying some model properties as plain text and other model properties as input fields. My problem is that the model properties displayed as plain text are null when the model is returned to the view after a validation error. How do I retain the model values when I don't have input fields for all properties? What is best practice? My first thought is to keep the values of these properties in hidden input elements. <%= Html.HiddenFor(model => model.CustomerName) %> Is this considered a correct solution? Thanks Andreas

  • Bourne Script: Redirect success messages but NOT error messages

    This command: keytool -import -file "$serverPath/$serverCer" -alias "$clientTrustedCerAlias" -keystore "$clientPath/$clientKeystore" -storepass "$serverPassword" -noprompt Will when it runs successfully outputs: Certificate was added to keystore I tried redirecting the stdard out with: keytool ... > /dev/null But it is still printing. It appears that the message is being output into standard error. Since when I do this it is not displayed: keytool ... > /dev/null 2>&1 However this is not what I am wanting to do. I would like error messages to be output normally but I do not want "success" messages to be output to the command line. Any ideas? Whatever happened to unix convention: "If it works do not output anything".

  • ASP.NET MVC 2 RC2 Model Binding with NVARCHAR NOT NULL column

    I have a database column defined as NVARCHAR(1000) NOT NULL DEFAULT(N'') - in other words, a non-nullable text column with a default value of blank. I have a model class generated by the Linq-to-SQL Classes designer, which correctly identifies the property as not nullable. I have a TextAreaFor in my view for that property. I'm using UpdateModel in my controller to fetch the value from the form and populate the model object. If I view the web page and leave the text area blank, UpdateModel insists on setting the property to NULL instead of empty string. (Even if I set the value to blank in code prior to calling UpdateModel, it still overwrites that with NULL). Which, of course, causes the subsequent database update to fail. I could check all such properties for NULL after calling UpdateModel, but that seems ridiculous - surely there must be a better way? Please don't tell me I need a custom model binder for such a simple scenario...!

    There seem to be a few plugins...and I'm using webstorm file watcher which also precompiles individual files. I think this may not be the best way to setup a watcher. I'm running this command now: sass --no-cache --update --stop-on-error --trace ./app/sass:./app/css It seems to conflict with the webstorm file watch, which appears to be appending everything to base.css. Can someone tell me what exactly this command is doing vs. a sass filewatcher in webstorm? What's the best way to work with sass: precompile my sass to css using a grunt build task and have file watchers while developing?     Here's the scenario: I've got a big file filled with all sorts of eclectic rubbish that I want to regex. I fiddle around and come up with a perfect search pattern by using the / command and seeing what it highlights. Now I want to use that pattern to replace with. So, I start typing :%s/ and I cannot recall what the pattern was. Is there some magical keyboard command that will pull in my last search pattern here? If I'm writing a particularly complex regex, I have even opened up a new MacVim window, typed the regex from the first window into a buffer there, then typed it back into the Vim window when writing the replace pattern. There has got to be a better way of doing so.

    Based on the MVVM example by Josh Smith, I have implemented the multi tab option which binds to a different tab to a different view model using a simple datatemplate that binds a viewmodel to a view. <DataTemplate DataType="{x:Type fixtureVM:SearchViewModel}"> <SearchVw:SearchView/> </DataTemplate> The issue that I'm having, is when I switch tabs and then switch back again, the value in the textbox disappears. When I bind the Text in the textbox to a value in the ViewModel it does not disappear. This is fine, and I can overcome this but I am having another issue for example with the position of the scroll bar in a grid disappearing once the tab has lost focus. Why is the value disappearing? I'm assuming it is a WPF sub system task that cleans up resources!? how can I avoid this? I also feel it might be slowing down my app.

    Hello, all! I have a WPF view that displays a Shipment entity. I have a textblock that contains an asterisk which will alert a user that the record is changed but unsaved. I originally hoped to bind the visibility of this (with converter) to the Shipment.EntityState property. If value = EntityState.Modified Then Return Visibility.Visible Else Return Visibility.Collapsed End If The property gets updated just fine, but the view is ignorant of the change. What I need to know is, how can I get the UI to receive notification of the property change. If this cannot be done, is there a good way of writing my own IsDirty property that handles editing retractions (i.e. if I change the value of a property, then change it back to it's original it does not get counted as an edit, and state remains Unchanged). Any help, as always, will be greatly appreciated. Cory

  • How do I make a shortcut for a Perl program under Windows using a DOS batch file?

    I'm trying to "hide" some of my perl program from the end user to make things easier on them. I'm doing what I can to keep them out of the command prompt. The program itself has a GUI designed in Perl/Tk, so they don't have to worry about the command prompt. Could I write out a quick batch file that goes along the lines of: START perl 'C:\[some path here]\myscript.pl' with START to start a program, the perl interpretor as my program, and the path/name of my perl script as the parameter? Would I have to specify where to find perl or would Windows just know because perl is in the computer's PATH variable? Thanks for the help!

    I have subclassed UIView object inside a uiscrollview which displays a pdf page. I can zoom that page. But when I do so, the inside view is zoomed and is getting blurred. I understood that the inner view shud be refreshed and i called setNeedsDisplay. But no change have happened and its the same even now.   • Adb shell commands to change settings or perform tasks on a phone

    How do I use adb to perform some automated tasks on my android phone? I need to find commands that I can issue from the command line (ideally, using a .bat file) that will be capable of more than simply opening an application or sending an input keyevent (button press). For instance, I want to toggle Airplane Mode on or off from the command line. Currently, the best I can do is launch the Wireless & network settings menu and then use input keyevents to click Airplane mode: adb shell am start -a android.settings.AIRPLANE_MODE_SETTINGS adb shell input keyevent 19 & adb shell input keyevent 23 There are quite a few drawbacks to this method, primarily that the screen has to be on and unlocked. Also, the tasks I want to do are much broader than this simple example. Other things I'd like to do if possible: 1.Play an mp3 and set it on repeat. Current solution: adb shell am start -n com.android.music/.MusicBrowserActivity adb shell input keyevent 84 adb shell input keyevent 56 & adb shell input keyevent 66 & adb shell input keyevent 67 & adb shell input keyevent 19 adb shell input keyevent 23 & adb shell input keyevent 21 adb shell input keyevent 19 & adb shell input keyevent 19 & adb shell input keyevent 19 & adb shell input keyevent 22 & adb shell input keyevent 22 & adb shell input keyevent 23 & adb shell input keyevent 23 2.Play a video. (current solution: open MediaGallery, send keyevents, similar to above) 3.Change the volume (current solution: send volume-up button keyevents) 4.Change the display timeout (current solution: open sound & display settings, send keyevents) As before, these all require the screen to be on and unlocked. The other major drawback to using keyevents is if the UI of the application is changed, the keyevents will no longer perform the correct function. If there is no easier way to do these sort of things, is there at least a way to turn the screen on (using adb) when it is off? Or to have keyevents still work when the screen is off? I'm not very familiar with java. For example, if I enter the alias command with no parameters at a Terminal command prompt, I get a list of aliases that I have set, for example, this is one of them alias mysql='/usr/local/mysql/bin/mysql' However, I have searched all over my system using Spotlight and mdfind in various startup files and so far can not find where this alias has been defined ( I did it a long time ago and didn't write down where I assigned the alias).

    I am attempting to parse, not evaluate, rails ERB files in a Hpricot/Nokogiri type manner. The files I am attempting to parse contain HTML fragments intermixed with dynamic content generated using ERB (standard rails view files) I am looking for a library that will not only parse the surrounding content, much the way that Hpricot or Nokogiri will but will also treat the ERB symbols, <%, <%= etc, as though they were html/xml tags. Ideally I would get back a DOM like structure where the <%, <%= etc symbols would be included as their own node types. I know that it is possible to hack something together using regular expressions but I was looking for something a bit more reliable as I am developing a tool that I need to run on a very large view code base where both the html content and the erb content are important. For example, content such as: blah blah blah <divMy Great Text <%= my_dynamic_expression %</div Would return a tree structure like: root - text_node (blah blah blah) - element (div) - text_node (My Great Text ) - erb_node (<%=)

    If I run a package from the Management Studio, and specify a configuration file, everything works as expected. However if I try and run the package from the command prompt with DTExec I get the error: Cannot load the XML configuration file. The XML configuration file may be malformed or not valid. The command I'm using to execute the package is: dtexec /conf ConfigurationDemo.dtsConfig /f Package.dtsx I am running the dtexec from the folder where these two files reside. Is there an addtional switch or something that must used to get dtexec to behave the same was at the management Stduio in launching a package?

  • MVC using LINQ? - Can't return anonymous types

    I'd like to implement MVC while using LINQ (specifically, LINQ-to-entities). The way I would do this is have the Controller generate (or call something which generates) the result-set using LINQ, then return that to the View to display the data. The problem is, if I do: return (from o in myTable select o); All the columns are read from the database, even the ones (potentially dozens) I don't want. And - more importantly - I can't do something like this: return (from o in myTable select new { o.column }); because there is no way to make anonymous types type-safe! I know for sure there is no nice, clean way of doing this in 3.5 (this is not clean...), but what about 4.0? Is there anything planned, or even proposed? Without something like duck-typing-for-LINQ, or type-safe anonymous return values (it seems to me the compiler should certainly be capable of that), it appears to be nearly impossible to cleanly separate the Controller from the View.

    I'm trying to compile a very simple wxPython script into an executable by using PyInstaller on Windows Vista. The Python script is nothing but a Hello World in wxPython. I'm trying to get that up and running as a Windows executable before I add any of the features that the program needs to have. But I'm already stuck. I've jumped through some loops in regards to MSVCR90.DLL, MSVCP90.DLL and MSVCPM90.DLL, which I ended up copying from my Visual Studio installation (C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 9.0\VC\redist\x86\Microsoft.VC90.CRT). As according to the instructions for PyInstaller, I run: Command: Configure.py Output: I: computing EXE_dependencies I: Finding TCL/TK... I: could not find TCL/TK I: testing for Zlib... I: ... Zlib available I: Testing for ability to set icons, version resources... I: ... resource update available I: Testing for Unicode support... I: ... Unicode available I: testing for UPX... I: ...UPX available I: computing PYZ dependencies... So far, so good. I continue. Command: Makespec.py -F guitest.py Output: wrote C:\Code\PromoUSB\guitest.spec now run Build.py to build the executable Then there's the final command.   • Site Actions menu in SharePoint is WSS-like, whereas I have installed MOSS

    I had WSS installed on my VM and then uninstalled in order to install MOSS Enterprise I can see a lot of the MOSS stuff in the Central Administration pages but when I create a new web application and site collection, my Site Actions dropdown is showing the WSS version, i.e. Create, Edit Page and Site Settings as opposed to the MOSS menu which has View All Site Content, View Reports, Manage Content and Structure etc. I just tried deleting my web app and creating it all again but it's come back with the same thing again. Is somewhere remembering that I used to have WSS installed? (yes I know MOSS is built on top of WSS but you know what I mean!)
