    I need to implement many forms in ASP.NET application (for IRS mostly). There are will be a lot of standard controls for each form (textboxes, dropdowns, checkboxes, radio). And business entity assigned to each. What's the best solution to automate this process? I need to: Have layout stored in DB (in XML). Layout must support several columns, tabbed interface Automatically bind business object values to the form Automatically read form values and write to business object Must support automatic validation Some basic workflows support would be good I used to work with TFS and saw how they implemented WorkItem templates (.wit files). In general this is all I need. But what framework did they build it on? How can I utilize this solution? I know about Dynamic Data only: http://www.asp.net/dynamicdata

    Ok, I have a HTML page with jQuery included. I have a CSS file with a good load of lines in, I would like to read all styles for a given element from the external CSS file... Not the inline styles...   • jQuery, Animate opacity to 1 then remove the opacity property to make it better looking on IE

    Hi everyone, I tried the jQuery fadeIn animation in all browsers and it work good, but not that much on IE. the Alpha png images are so creepy after appending the CSS opacity, but i have an idea and i don't know how to implement it using jQuery. The idea is to fadeIn the element and when the animation is finished it will automatically remove the opacity property in order to make the picture quality better. How to do that? Note: i'm using Animate and not FadeIn. Thanks

    Hey guys, was wondering how do i use the NSXML parser. so lets say given i have a simple xml file with elements like 1/1/1000 14:15:16 How could i use the NSXMLParser to parse the XML File(Its on locally btw, desktop), check through each element and store each of them in an array either to be displayed/used later?   • How do I call the methods in a model via controller? Zend Framework

    Hi guys, I've been searching for tutorials to better understand this, but I'm having no luck. Please forgive the lengthy explination, but I want make sure I explain myself well. First, I'm quite new to the MVC structure, though I have been doing tutorials and learning as best I can. I have been moving over a live site into the Zend Framework model. So far, I have all the views within views/scripts/index/example.phtml. So therefore I'm using one IndexController and I have the code in each Action method for each page: IE public function exampleAction() Because I didn't know how to interact with a model, I put all the methods at the bottom of the controller (a fat controller). So basically, I had a working site by using a View and Controller and no model. ... Now I'm trying to learn how to incorporate the Model. So I created a View at: view/scripts/calendar/index.phtml I created a new Controller at: controller/CalendarControllers.php and a new model at: model/Calendar.php The problem is I think I'm not correctly communication with the model (I'm still new to OOP). Can you look over my controller and model and tell me if you see a problem. I'm needing to return an array from runCalendarScript(), but I'm not sure if I can return an array into the object like I'm trying to? I don't really understand how to "run" the runCalendarScript() from the controller? Thanks for any help! I've tried with next(), previous() and find() but can't seem to get it to work. What is the easiest way to get the anchor elements before and after the current one?

    Is there a way to force the dropdown direction of a select element in HTML down? At the moment we have a product display page, the select box appears below the halfway mark of the screen in a widescreen resolution and therefore makes the dropdown go up. Is this possible? Thanks.

  • C++ game designing & polymorphism question

    Hi! I'm trying to implement some sort of 'just-for-me' game engine and the problem's plot goes the following way: Suppose I have some abstract interface for a renderable entity, e.g. IRenderable. And it's declared the following way: interface IRenderable { // (...) // Suppose that Backend is some abstract backend used // for rendering, and it's implementation is not important virtual void Render(Backend& backend) = 0; }; What I'm doing right now is something like declaring different classes like class Ball : public IRenderable { virtual void Render(Backend& backend) { // Rendering implementation, that is specific for // the Ball object // (...) } }; And then everything looks fine. I can easily do something like std::vector<IRenderable*> items, push some items like new Ball() in this vector and then make a call similiar to foreach (IRenderable* in items) { item->Render(backend); } Ok, I guess it is the 'polymorphic' way, but what if I want to have different types of objects in my game and an ability to manipulate their state, where every object can be manipulated via it's own interface? I could do something like struct GameState { Ball ball; Bonus bonus; // (...) }; and then easily change objects state via their own methods, like ball.Move(...) or bonus.Activate(...), where Move(...) is specific for only Ball and Activate(...) - for only Bonus instances. But in this case I lose the opportunity to write foreach IRenderable* simply because I store these balls and bonuses as instances of their derived, not base classes. And in this case the rendering procedure turns into a mess like ball.Render(backend); bonus.Render(backend); // (...) and it is bad because we actually lose our polymorphism this way (no actual need for making Render function virtual, etc. The other approach means invoking downcasting via dynamic_cast or something with typeid to determine the type of object you want to manipulate and this looks even worse to me and this also breaks this 'polymorphic' idea. So, my question is - is there some kind of (probably) alternative approach to what I want to do or can my current pattern be somehow modified so that I would actually store IRenderable* for my game objects (so that I can invoke virtual Render method on each of them) while preserving the ability to easily change the state of these objects? Maybe I'm doing something absolutely wrong from the beginning, if so, please point it out :) Thanks in advance!

I know that the fourth argument of htmlSAXParseDoc can be used to pass any user defined data to the callbacks, but I don't have a pointer to xmlParserCtxt.

    How can I unset the binding applied to an object so that I can apply another binding to it from a different location? Suppose I have two data templates binded to the same object reference. Data Template #1 is the default template to be loaded. I try to bind a button command to a Function1 from my DataContext class: <Button Content="Button 1" CommandParameter="{Binding }" Command="{Binding DataContext.Function1, RelativeSource={RelativeSource AncestorType={x:Type Window}}}"/> This actually works and the function gets binded. However, when I try to load Data Template # 2 to the same object (while trying to bind another button command to a different function (Function2) from my DataContext class): <Button Content="Button 2" CommandParameter="{Binding }" Command="{Binding DataContext.Function2, RelativeSource={RelativeSource AncestorType={x:Type Window}}}" /> It doesn't work and the first binding is still the one executed. Is there a workaround to this? EDIT (for better problem context): I defined my templates in my Window.Resources: <Window.Resources> <DataTemplate DataType="{x:Type local:ViewModel1}"> <local:View1 /> </DataTemplate> <DataTemplate DataType="{x:Type local:ViewModel2}"> <local:View2 /> </DataTemplate> </Window.Resources> The View1.xaml and the View2.xaml contain the button definitions that I described above (I want them to command the control of my process flow). ViewModel1 and ViewModel2 are my ViewModels that implement the interface IPageViewModel which is the type of my variable CurrentPageViewModel.   • Is it possible to have a Shared/Static Dependency Property?

    [using VB.NET, but I can easily read C# code in responses] I have a class called QuestionClipboard with ALL shared methods/properties. I previously had a QuesitonClipboard.doesClipboardHaveContent function that returned true/false if there was a Object on my 'clipboard'. I'd prefer to implement a Dependency Property so I can allow this true/false value to participate in data binding. The "GetValue(dp as DependencyProperty)" method requires an object instance, which would mean that my Property CAN'T be shared! Here is what the code would look like in my perfect world... Of course, the word "Shared" before the property declaration renders this code useless. The object return from ObjectQuery, is not normal object, but EntityObject but what if i write : ( notice the var) var q = customers /*EF entity*/ .Select (c => c.Name.ToUpper()) .OrderBy (n => n) it can be determined both to ienumerable or iqueryable : because ObjectQuery Also implements IEnumerable... i dont know if there's any specific info which tell the compiler "use A and not B. A is more specific..." ( there must be...i just cant find it) any help ? how will it know to use A || B ?

The use case on my mind: Dictionary<Pair<string, int>, object> or Dictionary<Triple<string, int, int>, object> Are there built-in types like Pair or Triple? Or what's the best way of implementing it? Update There are some general-purpose tuples implementations described in the answers, but for tuples used as keys in dictionaries you should additionaly verify correct calculation of the hash code. Some more info on that in another question. Update 2 I guess it is also worth reminding, that when you use some value as a key in dictionary, it should be immutable.
