  Hi everybody: I am writing a C++ application that needs to execute SQL queries in a SQL Server DB and I want to do it using SQL Server Native Client. The MSDN documentation has no a full reference on it and has a few examples so I am looking for some site having more information on how to connect, execute queries and retrieve results using this API. I couldn't find any documentation related to actually allowing users to cancel asynchronous requests, however. • HttpWebRequest ReadWriteTimeout ignored in .NET; works in Mono

  When writing data to a web server, my tests show HttpWebRequest.ReadWriteTimeout is ignored, contrary to the MSDN spec. For example if I set ReadWriteTimeout to 1 (=1 msec), call myRequestStream.Write() passing in a buffer that takes 10 seconds to transfer, it transfers successfully and never times out using .NET 3.5 SP1. The same test running on Mono 2.6 times out immediately as expected. What could be wrong?

The second part shows an example with Interface class. But nothing in this article discusses why this pattern would rather use abstract or interface.   When I submit my MVC Page I get an IvalidOperationException from System.Web.Mvc Controller object in the UpdateModel method. the MSDN documentation states that this method does the following: Updates the specified model instance using values from the controller's current value provider. Is the value provider referencing the current Request object? Or where exactly does it get the values that it is using to update the model? And what specifically does the UpdateModel method check and what does it 'mean' when it says that The model of type 'abcXYZ' was not successfully updated Thanks

  According to the MSDN, you can specify an access type parameter to InternetOpen. Two of the options for the dwAccessType parameter are: INTERNET_OPEN_TYPE_DIRECT - Resolves all host names locally. INTERNET_OPEN_TYPE_PRECONFIG - Retrieves the proxy or direct configuration from the registry. Which of these should I use? I don't know which would be "better". We don't want our application to do anything clever, all we want it to do is access the internet in a normal way.
