• MacBook Pro Late 2009 SATA Resets, Slowness (Is my motherboard dying on both machines?)

  My MacBook Pro runs slower the longer it's on. I am getting kernel warnings. Some, but not all, resets correlate with AC power connects and disconnects. I don't think the warnings do. (How do I tell?) What are these errors? What causes them? Can this damage the drive or corrupt data? • emacs23 pops up debugger way too frequently

  Since I've upgraded to Ubuntu lucid and emacs23, Emacs pops up the debugger in situations, where emacs22 does not. For example, when hitting C-c C-c in org-mode, emacs22 simply states can do nothing useful at this location, whereas in emacs23 the debugger shows up. Debugger entered--Lisp error: (error "C-c C-c can do nothing useful at this location") signal(error ("C-c C-c can do nothing useful at this location")) error("C-c C-c can do nothing useful at this location") org-ctrl-c-ctrl-c(nil) call-interactively(org-ctrl-c-ctrl-c nil nil) That only illustrates the pattern -- the behavior is not limited to org-mode. Occurring every 3 minutes, it really annoys me. How can I prevent it? I've already tried to stop this using debug-on-error and stack-trace-on-error: it didn't work.

• How can I use Code Contracts in a C++/CLI project?

  I recently stumbled upon Code Contracts and have started using them in my C# projects. However, I also have a number of projects written in C++/CLI. For C# and VB, Code Contracts offer a handy configuration panel in the project properties dialog. For a C++/CLI project, there is no such panel. From the documentation, I got the impression that adding Code Contracts support to a C++/CLI project should be a simple matter of calling some external tools as part of the build process (namely ccrefgen.exe, cccheck.exe, and ccrewrite.exe). However, the number of command line options and restrictions concerning the call sequence have me somewhat intimidated. Can anybody point me to a simple way to run the Code Contracts tools as an automated part of the build process in Visual Studio?

• Problem executing bash file

  HI there! I've run into some problem while learning to combine .sh files and PHP. I've create a file test.sh and in that file I call a PHP file called test.php. If I double click on the .sh file then it runs perfectly but when I try to run it from the terminal I get "command not found". I'm in the exact folder as my .sh file but it wont work. Here's my test.sh: #!/bin/bash LIB=${0/%cli/} exec php -q ${LIB}test.php one two three exit; When I doubleclick on the test.sh file then it returns the argv array like it suppost to. But why can't I run it from terminal?

However, the swf gets a SecurityError: Error #2060: Security sandbox violation: ExternalInterface caller http://domainA.com/TrialApp.swf cannot access http://DomainB.com/. The as3 is just the below: ExternalInterface.call("javascript:_invite();"); I've also loaded the crossdomain policy file from Domain B during initialization. • Python file-io code listing current folder path instead of the specified

But it printed lines like: Dir >> /home/tom/Music/seahorse-gw2jNn Dir >> /home/tom/Music/FlashXX9kV847 Dir >> /home/tom/Music/pulse-DcIEoxW5h2gz This is, the correct file names, but the wrong path (and this files are not either in my Music folder).. What's wrong with this code?

  Is it possible (and if so, safe) to create/use a block which takes a double pointer as an argument? For instance: - (void)methodWithBlock:(void (^)(NSError **error))block; Additional context, research, and questions: I'm using ARC. When I declare the method above and attempt to call it, XCode autocompletes my method invocation as follows: [self methodWithBlock:^(NSError *__autoreleasing *error) {}]; What does __autoreleasing mean here and why is it being added? I presume it has something to do with ARC. If this is possible and safe, can the pointer still be dereferenced in the block as it would be anywhere else? In general, what are the important differences between doing what I'm describing, and simply passing a double pointer as a method parameter (e.g. - (void)methodWithDoublePointer:(NSError **)error;)? What special considerations, if any, should be taken into account (again assuming this is possible at all)?

  Hi, I'm currently trying to get Freemarker to work with my application using Spring. No matter what I try I keep getting template not found. I am not sure if I have the configuration set up properly, but it never finds my template. Here is my spring bean config: <bean id="freemarkerConfig" class="org.springframework.web.servlet.view.freemarker.FreeMarkerConfigurer"> <property name="templateLoaderPath" value="/WEB-INF/freemarker/"/> </bean> Whenever I try to call getTemplate on the freemaker configuration it always sends back a template not found error. So if I do configuration.getTemplate("testTemplate.ftl") it always throws an IOException. I'm not sure if anyone has an idea of what I'm doing wrong. Thanks for all your help!

• Calling function from popover.

  Alright, so I made a popover from my main view and all that good stuff. But I want to have my popover call an action in my main view when a button within the popover is pressed. MainView *mainView = [[MainView alloc] initWithNibName:@"MainView" bundle:nil]; [mainView doStuff]; The "dostuff" function changes some elements within the view. For example, the color of the toolbar is supposed to be changed. I've put a print command and the print command executes. But for some reason, the toolbar won't change color. I've imported the header of MainView into the popover. I did an @class thingy for MainView in my popover. doStuff is declared in MainView's header. The IBOutlets are declared too, and connected. Any ideas?

  In OpenGL Renderer onDrawFrame is called several time, until the page is completely rendered. I cannot find an event that my page is completeley rendered in order to take a snapshot of the OpenGL page and animate it. I have the solution to take snapshot on at the animation trigger (specific button), but this will imply a specific delay, until Bitmap is created, such as i would like to keep in memory a mutable copy of every page. Do you know other way to animate GLSurfaceView with rendered content? • How can I specify the character encoding to be used by OLEDB when querying a DBF?

  Is it possible to specify which character encoding should be used by OLEDB when querying a DBF file? A possible work-around would be to encode the query string before the OLEDB call to the DBF file's character encoding and then encode all the results when they are returned. This will work but it would be nice if OLEDB or possibly ADO.NET could do this for me. UPDATE The suggestion by Viktor Jevdokimov does not seem to work automatically. But it made me investigate manual conversion of the strings. It is possible to use the TextInfo property of CultureInfo to find out the OemCodePage and the WindowsCodePage and use those to get the corresponding Encoding instances to perform manual conversion. But I can not get ADO.NET use these encondings to perform the conversion for me.

• Is Rails default CSRF protection insecure

  By default the form post CSRF protection in Rails creates an authenticity token for a user that only changes when the user's session changes. One of our customers did a security audit of our site and flagged that as an issue. The auditor's statement was that if we also had a XSS vulnerability that an attacker could grab another user's authenticity token and make use of it for CSRF attacks until the user's session expired. But is seems to me that if we had an XSS vulnerability like that an attacker could just as easily grab another user's session cookie and login as that user directly. Or even just make call to our REST Api as the user being attacked. No secondary CSRF attack needed. Have I missed something? Is there a real problem with the default CSRF protection in Rails?

  Hi, Consider the following piece of code: As you can see we are on line 28. Is there any way to see the return value of the function at this point, without letting the code return to the caller function? Foo.Bar() is a function call which generates a unique path (for example). So it's NOT constant. In VB.NET it's possible by entering the function's name in the Watch, which will then threat it as a variable. But in C# this is not possible, any other tips? PS: rewriting is not an option.

  I have a MS CRM 4 form where when certain fields are changed, I need those fields to be written to an excel sheet. So, I edited the form field onchange event to call crmform.save() which triggers a plugin to run that writes the field value to a named range (1 cell) of an excel sheet. However, I don't know which field caused the save. Is there a way to get that information? (Not all fields on the form need to go to the excel sheet) If I use this: DynamicEntity target = (DynamicEntity)Context.InputParameters[ParameterName.Target]; I can look at specific fields, but I have no way of knowing which ones changed. Any suggestions?

  I'm constructing a program which uses mprotect() to restrict a block of memory from accessing. When the memory is requested, a SIGSEGV is thrown which I listen for using a signal() call. Once the SIGSEGV has been detected, I need to somehow access the pointer to the memory that was requested (that threw the fault) and the size of the segment requested. • svnkit: Problem getting entry name

  I'm trying to create a SVN Eclipese EFS plugin and have problems when getting the names of entries. When I make a call to: SVNRepository `//Fetches the contents of a directory into the provided collection object and returns the directory entry itself. SVNDirEntry getDir(String path, long revision, boolean includeCommitMessages, Collection entries)` It correctly returns the entry for the provided path, however, it doesn't set the "name" value on the "returned" entry. Note, the items returned in the collection are all OK. Does anyone know why this is? And/or if there is a workaround? I have in-app purchase setup in my app. I confirmed that I have a correct set of product identifiers, matched by corresponding in-app purchase items in itunesconnect. • How to limit NSTextField text length and keep it always upper case?

  Need to have an NSTextField with a text limit of 4 characters maximum and show always in upper case but can't figure out a good way of achieving that. I've tried to do it through a binding with a validation method but the validation only gets called when the control loses first responder and that's no good. Temporarly I made it work by observing the notification NSControlTextDidChangeNotification on the text field and having it call the method: - (void)textDidChange:(NSNotification*)notification { NSTextField* textField = [notification object]; NSString* value = [textField stringValue]; if ([value length] > 4) { [textField setStringValue:[[value uppercaseString] substringWithRange:NSMakeRange(0, 4)]]; } else { [textField setStringValue:[value uppercaseString]]; } } But this surely isn't the best way of doing it. • Can I check wheter Linq 2 SQL's DataContext is tracking entities?

  We want to throw an exception, if a user calls DataContext.SubmitChanges() and the DataContext is not tracking anything. That is... it is OK to call SubmitChanges if there are no inserts, updates or deletes. But we want to ensure that the developer didn't forget to attach the entity to the DataContext. Even better... is it possible to get a collection of all entities that the DataContext is tracking (including those that are not changed)? PS: The last question I asked were answered with: "do it this way instead"... please don't :-)
