• How to manage user authentication/sessions?

- by Dan
What is the best way to manage user authentication/sessions in a web app, ideally in a clustered environment, using Spring Framework/MVC? I thought of creating a login bean that creates a jsession for authenticated users and then using AOP to check for the jsession before each controller method inovcation. If there isn't a better way, what are some possible alternatives? Thanks.

• Deploying symfony without shell access

- by lacqui
Good day, I have an application written using the Symfony framework. The application works on my development server, where I have shell access. However, I am unable to load my application on my host, as I need to run symfony doctrine::build on the command line on the host. Is there another way to load the database after or during symfony project:deploy?

- by lchales
Hello there: first of all i have no idea on coding or anything related, simple question: is there any simple way to tell this code to autostart the slide? at the current moment the images change on click. currently the index page only have one image, what i want is to add a few but without the need to click to see the next one here is the code from my index: // $(function() { var $tf_bg = $('#tf_bg'), $tf_bg_images = $tf_bg.find('img'), $tf_bg_img = $tf_bg_images.eq(0), $tf_thumbs = $('#tf_thumbs'), total = $tf_bg_images.length, current = 0, $tf_content_wrapper = $('#tf_content_wrapper'), $tf_next = $('#tf_next'), $tf_prev = $('#tf_prev'), $tf_loading = $('#tf_loading'); • ASP.net MVC How to change the Textbox Class upon validation failure?

- by Harry
I notice in the default MVC template project that the Account registration fields are highlighted via a class change. I can't seem to get the same behavour out of my own code (in the same project - same CSS etc) What might be stopping this from occuring? Update I believe this relates to one of my other questions Because I was having trouble with NullReferenceExceptions I have changed the Html.ValidationMessage fields to have different names than the target fields. So really, I need to resolve this question

• 50 million+ Rows of Data - CSV or MySQL

- by eWizardII
Hello, I have a CSV file which is about 1GB big and contains about 50million rows of data, I am wondering is it better to keep it as a CSV file or store it as some form of a database. I don't know a great deal about MySQL to argue for why I should use it or another database framework over just keeping it as a CSV file. I am basically doing a Breadth-First Search with this dataset, so once I get the initial "seed" set the 50million I use this as the first values in my queue. Thanks,

• Front-end developer interview questions

- by peirix
There are a lot of good interview questions (even "puzzles") for software developers here on SO, but I was wondering if anyone had some good questions for a front-end developer position. We're looking for someone who knows HTML+CSS+JS. Some of the obvious questions: Have you worked with javascript libraries (which?) Are you following the development of HTML5 and CSS3 Do you know any good "puzzles" for a front-end developer? Maybe a JS fizz-buzz?

- by Sudar
I need to add Plugin support to a Java Swing App (like in Eclipse). The Plugin should have the ability to add new Menu items and tab components to the swing app. I am looking for frameworks or libraries which support it. So far I have found Java Plugin Framework http://jpf.sourceforge.net/ and planning to use it. Are there any other better alternatives to it?

• How do I create and read non-global variables that aren't destroyed at end of function?

- by Paul Reilly
I am attempting to code some plugins to use with MIDI sequencers but have hit a stumbling block. I can't use global-scope variables to store information because multiple instances of the .dll can exist which share memory. How do I create a class (for re-usability purposes in other plugins) containing 2 dimensional array and other variables the content of which is to be shared between functions? If that is possible, how would I read and write the data from the function in the framework where I do the processing?

Thanks!

• Do you find java.util.logging sufficient?

- by Yuval A
Per the title, do you find the default Java logging framework sufficient for your needs? Do you use alternative logging services such as log4j or others? If so, why? I'd like to hear any advice you have regarding logging requirements in different types of projects, and when integrating frameworks is actually necessary and/or useful.
