  • HTML5 applicationCache in local development

    - by jesper
I'm experimenting with application cache based on this example: http://html5demos.com/html5demo.manifest This example works fine in ff, but when I create analogous site (almost identical) I get only status "UNCACHED (numeric value 0) -- The ApplicationCache object's cache host is not associated with an application cache at this time." I work on xampp and I've set correct mime-type. When the page is loading ff "is asking to store data on your computer for offline use" and when I show Tools - Options - Advanced - Network - Offline data there is localhost but with 0B size.

  • asp.net mvc viewdata best practices

    - by user319353
Hi: Am trying to understand the ASP.NET MVC ViewData with respect to its size. Since this object is passed between Controller to View, how big this could be? Say for example, if DataTable is passed from Model, and Controller is going to pass it to View. Is there any best practices OR any one had any bad experience to share here? Thanks in advance.

  • Force Binding Update Silverlight

    - by Matt
How can I force my objects DataContext bindings to update? I'm using an event on a grid, and binding updates are not being processed before my event fires. Any cheap tricks to get around this? In the end I can always do things the old manual way of getting the values from my textboxes and updating my object, but it'd be nice to have binding do it for me.

  • How to create pulsating value from 0..1..0..1..0 etc for a given duration?

    - by pollux
Hi I'm working on some code where I have a Time object with a member time. Time.time gives me the time since my application started in seconds (float value). Now I want to create a pulsating value between 0 and 1 and then from 1 to 0 again, which continues doing thins untill the application stops. I was thinking to use sin() but don't know what to pass to it as paramters to create this pulsing value. How would I create this pulsating value? Kind regards, Pollux

  • Serialize in a human readable text format

    - by Martin Kirsche
Is there a way in .NET 2.0 (C#) to serialize object like you do using XmlSerializer in a simple / customizable human readable format thats for instance looks like PXLS or JSON? Also I know that XML is human readable, I'm looking for something with less annoying redundancy, something that you can output to the console as a result for the user.

  • [N]Hibernate: view-like fetching properties of associated class

    - by chiccodoro
(Felt quite helpless in formulating an appropriate title...) In my C# app I display a list of "A" objects, along with some properties of their associated "B" objects and properties of B's associated "C" objects: A.Name B.Name B.SomeValue C.Name Foo Bar 123 HelloWorld Bar Hello 432 World ... To clarify: A has an FK to B, B has an FK to C. (Such as, e.g. BankAccount - Person - Company). I have tried two approaches to load these properties from the database (using NHibernate): A fast approach and a clean approach. My eventual question is how to do a fast & clean approach. Fast approach: Define a view in the database which joins A, B, C and provides all these fields. In the A class, define properties "BName", "BSomeValue", "CName" Define a hibernate mapping between A and the View, whereas the needed B and C properties are mapped with update="false" insert="false" and do actually stem from B and C tables, but Hibernate is not aware of that since it uses the view. This way, the listing only loads one object per "A" record, which is quite fast. If the code tries to access the actual associated property, "A.B", I issue another HQL query to get B, set the property and update the faked BName and BSomeValue properties as well. Clean approach: There is no view. Class A is mapped to table A, B to B, C to C. When loading the list of A, I do a double left-join-fetch to get B and C as well: from A a left join fetch a.B left join fetch a.B.C B.Name, B.SomeValue and C.Name are accessed through the eagerly loaded associations. The disadvantage of this approach is that it gets slower and takes more memory, since it needs to created and map 3 objects per "A" record: An A, B, and C object each. Fast and clean approach: I feel somehow uncomfortable using a database view that hides a join and treat that in NHibernate as if it was a table. So I would like to do something like: Have no views in the database. Declare properties "BName", "BSomeValue", "CName" in class "A". Define the mapping for A such that NHibernate fetches A and these properties together using a join SQL query as a database view would do. The mapping should still allow for defining lazy many-to-one associations for getting A.B.C My questions: Is this possible? Is it [un]artful? Is there a better way?

  • Settings File as Dictionary with Serialization

    - by AKRamkumar
This is a three part question. One: Would using a Dictionary<String,Object> be a good way of saving data where it would be Dictionary<Key,Value> as the basis? Two: What would be a better way without using app.settings or xml? Three: How would you serialize this(Or the better solution) into a binary format that is compact and serializes quickly?

  • help me understand the method Validator.TryValidateObject()

    - by Benny
this is the method definition: public static bool TryValidateObject( Object instance, ValidationContext validationContext, ICollection<ValidationResult> validationResults, bool validateAllProperties ) what i am confused is the validateAllProperties parameter, I understand when it is true-validate all properties. What about when it is false, not validate all properties, but which property will be validated?

  • How to adjust asp.net URL routing based on domain/host?

    - by DrewF
What's the best way to adjust the path destination for a routing table created in the global.asax Application_Start event based on the domain/sub domain/host? The following worked in IIS6, but with IIS7 the request object is decoupled from the Application_Start event and therefore does not work anymore: Dim strHost As String = Context.Request.Url.Host Dim strDir As String = "" If strHost.Contains("domain1.com") Then strDir = "area1/" Else strDir = "area2/" End If routes.MapPageRoute("Search", "Search", "~/" & strDir & "search.aspx")

  • Determining when or when not to escape output

    - by Ygam
I have a page, where I have approximately 90 items I need to output. Most of them are object properties (I am using ORM so these objects map to my database tables). But the question is, do I have to escape each of those 90 outputs by applying functions to each (in my case, the htmlspecialchars)? Wouldn't that add a bit of an overhead (calling a single function 90 times)?

  • Javascript - proper getAttributeNode on IE6+

    - by Darrow
I have a regular input box (no onchange attribute). <input type="text" id="bar" name="bar" /> For some reason, IE6+ does returns [object], while FF and Chrome returns null. if ((elem.getAttributeNode('onchange')) != null) elem.onchange(); I did also try as: if (typeof(elem.onchange) !== 'undefined') elem.onchange(); What would be the proper cross-browser way to check if the element has the attribute? Thanks

  • overloading new/delete problem

    - by hidayat
This is my scenario, Im trying to overload new and delete globally. I have written my allocator class in a file called allocator.h. And what I am trying to achieve is that if a file is including this header file, my version of new and delete should be used. So in a header file "allocator.h" i have declared the two functions extern void* operator new(std::size_t size); extern void operator delete(void *p, std::size_t size); I the same header file I have a class that does all the allocator stuff, class SmallObjAllocator { ... }; I want to call this class from the new and delete functions and I would like the class to be static, so I have done this: template<unsigned dummy> struct My_SmallObjectAllocatorImpl { static SmallObjAllocator myAlloc; }; template<unsigned dummy> SmallObjAllocator My_SmallObjectAllocatorImpl<dummy>::myAlloc(DEFAULT_CHUNK_SIZE, MAX_OBJ_SIZE); typedef My_SmallObjectAllocatorImpl<0> My_SmallObjectAllocator; and in the cpp file it looks like this: allocator.cc void* operator new(std::size_t size) { std::cout << "using my new" << std::endl; if(size > MAX_OBJ_SIZE) return malloc(size); else return My_SmallObjectAllocator::myAlloc.allocate(size); } void operator delete(void *p, std::size_t size) { if(size > MAX_OBJ_SIZE) free(p); else My_SmallObjectAllocator::myAlloc.deallocate(p, size); } The problem is when I try to call the constructor for the class SmallObjAllocator which is a static object. For some reason the compiler are calling my overloaded function new when initializing it. So it then tries to use My_SmallObjectAllocator::myAlloc.deallocate(p, size); which is not defined so the program crashes. So why are the compiler calling new when I define a static object? and how can I solve it?

  • Java serialization testing

    - by Jeff Storey
Does anyone know if there is a library that exists to help test if an object graph is fully serializable? It would probably be as simple as writing it out and reading it back in, but I figured someone must have abstracted this already - I just can't find it.
