  • Can not issue data manipulation statements with executeQuery in java

    - by user225269
    I'm trying to insert records in mysql database using java, What do I place in this code so that I could insert records: String id; String name; String school; String gender; String lang; Scanner inputs = new Scanner(System.in); System.out.println("Input id:"); id=inputs.next(); System.out.println("Input name:"); name=inputs.next(); System.out.println("Input school:"); school= inputs.next(); System.out.println("Input gender:"); gender= inputs.next(); System.out.println("Input lang:"); lang=inputs.next(); Class.forName("com.mysql.jdbc.Driver"); Connection con = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:mysql://localhost:3306/employee_record", "root", "MyPassword"); PreparedStatement statement = con.prepareStatement("insert into employee values('id', 'name', 'school', 'gender', 'lang');"); statement.executeUpdate();

    - by user2538438
    How to retrieve a static variable using its name dynamically using Java reflection? If I have class containing some variables: public class myClass { string [][] cfg1= {{"01"},{"02"},{"81"},{"82"}}; string [][]cfg2= {{"c01"},{"c02"},{"c81"},{"c82"}}; string [][] cfg3= {{"d01"},{"d02"},{"d81"}{"d82"}}; int cfg11 = 5; int cfg22 = 10; int cfg33 = 15; } And in another class I want variable name is input from user: class test { Scanner in = new Scanner(System.in); String userInput = in.nextLine(); // get variable from class myClass that has the same name as userInput System.out.println("variable name " + // correct variable from class) } Using reflection. • JavaScript - Inheritance in Constructors

    - by j0ker
    For a JavaScript project we want to introduce object inheritance to decrease code duplication. However, I cannot quite get it working the way I want and need some help. We use the module pattern. Suppose there is a super element: a.namespace('a.elements.Element'); a.elements.Element = (function() { // public API -- constructor Element = function(properties) { this.id = properties.id; }; // public API -- prototype Element.prototype = { getID: function() { return this.id; } }; return Element; }()); And an element inheriting from this super element: a.namespace('a.elements.SubElement'); a.elements.SubElement = (function() { // public API -- constructor SubElement = function(properties) { // inheritance happens here // ??? this.color = properties.color; this.bogus = this.id + 1; }; // public API -- prototype SubElement.prototype = { getColor: function() { return this.color; } }; return SubElement; }()); You will notice that I'm not quite sure how to implement the inheritance itself. In the constructor I have to be able to pass the parameter to the super object constructor and create a super element that is then used to create the inherited one. I need a (comfortable) possibility to access the properties of the super object within the constructor of the new object. Ideally I could operate on the super object as if it was part of the new object. I also want to be able to create a new SubElement and call getID() on it. What I want to accomplish seems like the traditional class based inheritance. However, I'd like to do it using prototypal inheritance since that's the JavaScript way. Is that even doable? Thanks in advance! EDIT: Fixed usage of private variables as suggested in the comments. EDIT2: Another change of the code: It's important that id is accessible from the constructor of SubElement.

  • ResXResourceWriter Chops off end of file

    - by Aaron Salazar
    I'm trying to create a .resx file from a dictionary of strings. Luckily the .Net framework has a ResXResourceWriter class. The only problem is that when I create the file using the code below, the last few lines of my generated resx file are missing. I checked my Dictionary and it contains all the string pairs that I expect. public void ExportToResx(Dictionary<string,string> resourceDictionary, string fileName) { var writer = new ResXResourceWriter(fileName); foreach (var resource in resourceDictionary) { writer.AddResource(resource.Key, resource.Value); } } Unfortunately, it is a little difficult to show the entire resx file since it has 2198 (should have 2222) lines but here is the last little bit: ... 2195 <data name="LangAlign_ReportIssue" xml:space="preserve"> 2196 <value>Report an Issue</value> 2197 </data> 2198 <data name="LangAlign_Return BTW, notice that the file cuts off right at the end of that "n" in "LangAlign_Return". The string should read "LangAlign_ReturnToWorkspace". The file should also end at line 2222.

  • Java: calculate linenumber from charwise position according to the number of "\n"

    - by HH
    I know charwise positions of matches like 1 3 7 8. I need to know their corresponding line number. Example: file.txt Match: X Mathes: 1 3 7 8. Want: 1 2 4 4 $ cat file.txt X2 X 4 56XX [Added: does not notice many linewise matches, there is probably easier way to do it with stacks] $ java testt 1 2 4 $ cat testt.java import java.io.*; import java.util.*; public class testt { public static String data ="X2\nX\n4\n56XX"; public static String[] ar = data.split("\n"); public static void main(String[] args){ HashSet<Integer> hs = new HashSet<Integer>(); Integer numb = 1; for(String s : ar){ if(s.contains("X")){ hs.add(numb); numb++; }else{ numb++; } } for (Integer i : hs){ System.out.println(i); } } }

  • How to write a custom predicate for multi_index_containder with composite_key?

    - by Titan
    I googled and searched in the boost's man, but didn't find any examples. May be it's a stupid question...anyway. So we have the famous phonebook from the man: typedef multi_index_container< phonebook_entry, indexed_by< ordered_non_unique< composite_key< phonebook_entry, member<phonebook_entry,std::string,&phonebook_entry::family_name>, member<phonebook_entry,std::string,&phonebook_entry::given_name> >, composite_key_compare< std::less<std::string>, // family names sorted as by default std::greater<std::string> // given names reversed > >, ordered_unique< member<phonebook_entry,std::string,&phonebook_entry::phone_number> > > > phonebook; phonebook pb; ... // look for all Whites std::pair<phonebook::iterator,phonebook::iterator> p= pb.equal_range(boost::make_tuple("White"), my_custom_comp()); How should my_custom_comp() look like? I mean it's clear for me then it takes boost::multi_index::composite_key_result<CompositeKey> as an argumen (due to compilation errors :) ), but what is CompositeKey in that particular case? struct my_custom_comp { bool operator()( ?? boost::multi_index::composite_key_result<CompositeKey> ?? ) const { return blah_blah_blah; } }; Thanks in advance.

  • SQLAlchemy introspection

    - by Shaman
    What I am trying to do is to get from SqlAlchemy entity definition all it's Column()'s, determine their types and constraints, to be able to pre-validate, convert data and display custom forms to user. How can I introspect it? Example: class Person(Base): ''' Represents Person ''' __tablename__ = 'person' # Columns id = Column(String(8), primary_key=True, default=uid_gen) title = Column(String(512), nullable=False) birth_date = Column(DateTime, nullable=False) I want to get this id, title, birth date, determine their restrictions (such as title is string and max length is 512 or birth_date is datetime etc) Thank you

  • Why does this ActionFilterAttribute not import data to the ViewModel?

    - by Tomas Lycken
    I have the following attribute public class ImportStatusAttribute : ActionFilterAttribute { public override void OnActionExecuted(ActionExecutedContext filterContext) { var model = (IHasStatus)filterContext.Controller.ViewData.Model; model.Status = (StatusMessageViewModel)filterContext.Controller.TempData["status"]; filterContext.Controller.ViewData.Model = model; } } which I test with the following test method (the first of several I'll write when this one passes...) [TestMethod] public void OnActionExecuted_ImportsStatusFromTempDataToModel() { // Arrange Expect(new { Status = new StatusMessageViewModel() { Subject = "The test", Predicate = "has been tested" }, Key = "status" }); var filterContext = new Mock<ActionExecutedContext>(); var model = new Mock<IHasStatus>(); var tempData = new TempDataDictionary(); var viewData = new ViewDataDictionary(model.Object); var controller = new FakeController() { ViewData = viewData, TempData = tempData }; tempData.Add(expected.Key, expected.Status); filterContext.Setup(c => c.Controller).Returns(controller); var attribute = new ImportStatusAttribute(); // Act attribute.OnActionExecuted(filterContext.Object); // Assert Assert.IsNotNull(model.Object.Status, "The status was not exported"); Assert.AreEqual(model.Object.Status.ToString(), ((StatusMessageViewModel)expected.Status).ToString(), "The status was not the expected"); } (Expect() is a method that saves some expectations in the expected object...) When I run the test, it fails on the first assertion, and I can't get my head around why. Debugging, I can see that model is populated correctly, and that (StatusMessageViewModel)filterContext.Controller.TempData["status"] has the correct data. But after model.Status = (StatusMessageViewModel)filterContext.Controller.TempData["status"]; model.Status is still null in my watch window. Why can't I do this?

  • Unit testing with serialization mock objects in C++

    - by lhumongous
    Greetings, I'm fairly new to TDD and ran across a unit test that I'm not entirely sure how to address. Basically, I'm testing a couple of legacy class methods which read/write a binary stream to a file. The class functions take a serializable object as a parameter, which handles the actual reading/writing to the file. For testing this, I was thinking that I would need a serialization mock object that I would pass to this function. My initial thought was to have the mock object hold onto a (char*) which would dynamically allocate memory and memcpy the data. However, it seems like the mock object might be doing too much work, and might be beyond the scope of this particular test. Is my initial approach correct, or can anyone think of another way of correctly testing this? Thanks!

  • Problems using jQuery $.ajax to pass data

    - by iboeno
    I'm using ASP.NET and attempting to call a method with a signature of [WebMethod] public static string GetInfo(string id){...} using the following javascript: var elementValue = $("#element").attr('id'); var d = "{id : " + elementValue + "}"; $.ajax({ type: "POST", url: "../WebPage.aspx/GetInfo", data: d, contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8", dataType: "json", success: function(msg) { //do this } }); And this is not working. If instead I set elementValue = 2; it works fine. If I try to hardcode in a string value for testing purposes e.g. elementValue = "nameToLookUp"; It fails. Why is this happening, and how do I resolve it? On a side not, why is type: required to be POST instead of a GET? In the end I just want to pass a string value I want to look up in a DB and retrieving some json data.

  • .NET 2.0: Invoking Methods Using Reflection And Generics Causes Exception

    - by David Derringer
    Hi all, I'm new to Stack Overflow, so forgive me. I've just started transititoning over to C# and I am stuck on a problem. I am wanting to pass a generic class in and call a method from that class. So, my code looks as such: public void UpdateRecords<T>(T sender) where T : new() //where T: new() came from Resharper { Type foo = Type.GetType(sender.GetType().ToString()); object[] userParameters = new object[2]; userParameters[0] = x; userParameters[1] = y; sender = new T(); //This was to see if I could solve my exception problem MethodInfo populateRecord = foo.GetMethod("MethodInOtherClass"); populateMethod.Invoke(sender, userParameters); } Exception thrown: "Object reference not set to an instance of an object." Again, I really apologize, as I am nearly brand new to C# and this is the first time I've ever handled reflection and generics. Thank you!

I use this code : Dim name As String = Path.GetFileName(filePath).Replace(".Bak", "") Dim source() As Byte = System.IO.File.ReadAllBytes(filePath) Dim compressed() As Byte = ConvertToByteArray(source) System.IO.File.WriteAllBytes(destination & name & ".Bak" & ".zip", compressed) Or using this code : Public Sub cmdCompressFile(ByVal FileName As String) 'Stream object that reads file contents Dim streamObj As Stream = New StreamReader(FileName).BaseStream 'Allocate space in buffer according to the length of the file read Dim buffer(streamObj.Length) As Byte 'Fill buffer streamObj.Read(buffer, 0, buffer.Length) streamObj.Close() 'File Stream object used to change the extension of a file Dim compFile As System.IO.FileStream = File.Create(Path.ChangeExtension(FileName, "zip")) 'GZip object that compress the file Dim zipStreamObj As New GZipStream(compFile, CompressionMode.Compress) 'Write to the Stream object from the buffer zipStreamObj.Write(buffer, 0, buffer.Length) zipStreamObj.Close() End Sub please I need to compress the file without loosing file extension inside compressed file. thanks,

  • jQuery preventing RedirectToAction from working?

    - by DaveDev
    I'm trying to redirect the user if they login successfully but the code I have on my page seems to be preventing the redirection from working. If I remove the jQuery below the redirection works. Can somebody tell me tell me if there's something I'm doing wrong? Thanks I have the following Action: [AcceptVerbs(HttpVerbs.Post)] public ActionResult Login(User user) { var myErrors = new Dictionary<string, string>(); try { if (ModelState.IsValid) { if (userRepository.ValidUser(user)) { return RedirectToAction("Index", "Group", new {page = (int?)null}); } else { return Json("Username or password seems to be incorrect"); } } else { foreach (KeyValuePair<string, ModelState> keyValuePair in ViewData.ModelState) { if (keyValuePair.Value.Errors.Count > 0) { List<string> errors = new List<string>(); myErrors.Add(keyValuePair.Key, keyValuePair.Value.Errors[0].ErrorMessage); } } return Json(myErrors); } } catch (Exception) { return Json("Invalid"); } } and the following code on my page: <script language="javascript" type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function() { $("#SaveSuccess").hide(); $("#btnLogin").click(function() { $("form").submit(function(event) { var formData = $(this).serialize(); $.post($(this).attr("action"), formData, function(res) { ShowErrors(res); if (res == true) { $("#SaveSuccess").text("Saved"); } else { $("#divError").html(res); } $("#SaveSuccess").fadeIn(100); }, "json"); return false; }); }); }); </script>

  • List<T> add method in C#

    - by Nano HE
    Hello. As I know. List Add method works as below. List<string> cities = new List<string>(); cities.Add("New York"); cities.Add("Mumbai"); cities.Add("Berlin"); cities.Add("Istanbul"); If I designed the data structure as this List<object> lstObj = new List<object>(); if (true) // string members { cities.Add("New York"); cities.Add("Istanbul"); } else // List obj members here { List<object> AListObject= new List<object>(); cities.Add(AListObject); // how to handle this? } Does the List Add method works or not if I add different types members in the same function.

  • Getting an updated location in Android

    - by jul
    Hi, I'm using the code shown below to get an updated value for location every time a button is clicked. When my activity is resumed I get an update every second, so that when I call getLastKnownLocation I expect to have a location that have been updated in the last second. Is that the correct way to do that? I would expect the onLocationChanged event to be triggered every time I execute a 'geo fix' command (or max after 1s since I request update every 1s), but it's only triggered the first time. Why? Any help/suggestion welcome! Thanks package org.digitalfarm.atable; ... public class Atable extends Activity { private Button mSearchButton; private TextView mytext; private LocationManager locationManager; public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.main); mSearchButton = (Button)this.findViewById(R.id.button); mytext = (TextView) findViewById(R.id.dude); locationManager = (LocationManager)getSystemService(Context.LOCATION_SERVICE); final Criteria criteria = new Criteria(); criteria.setAccuracy(Criteria.ACCURACY_FINE); mSearchButton.setOnClickListener(new OnClickListener() { @Override public void onClick(View v) { String provider = locationManager.getBestProvider(criteria, true); Location location = locationManager.getLastKnownLocation(provider); } }); } //Start a location listener LocationListener onLocationChange=new LocationListener() { public void onLocationChanged(Location loc) { //sets and displays the lat/long when a location is provided String latlong = "Lat: " + loc.getLatitude() + " Long: " + loc.getLongitude(); mytext.setText(latlong); } public void onProviderDisabled(String provider) { // required for interface, not used } public void onProviderEnabled(String provider) { // required for interface, not used } public void onStatusChanged(String provider, int status, Bundle extras) { // required for interface, not used } }; //pauses listener while app is inactive @Override public void onPause() { super.onPause(); locationManager.removeUpdates(onLocationChange); } //reactivates listener when app is resumed @Override public void onResume() { super.onResume(); locationManager.requestLocationUpdates(LocationManager.GPS_PROVIDER,1000,100.0f,onLocationChange); } }
