  Hi , i am a newbie at ASP.net and after using sqldatasource with a listview to insert and show results from an SQL server db i want to try using the LINQ datasource since it seems to be more flexible in codebehind.   I have a problem with a bound user control writing back to it's datasource on a NetCF forms application. The application is too complex to post code, so I made a toy version to show you. I create a form, usercontrol with a combobox, a class (testBind) and another class (TestLookup). I bind a property of the usercontrol ("value") to a property ("selectedValue") on the testBind class. The testBind class implements INotifyPropertyChanged. I create a few fascade methods on the user control to bind the contained combobox to a BindingList(of TestLookup). I create a button to show the value of the testBind bound property (in a MessageBox). The messagebox returns "-1" every time regardless of the combobox entry selected. I can take the EXACT same code, paste it in a full framework Forms app and it will return the correct value of the selected combobox entry. • AbcPDF renders the same page multiple times

  I need to retrieve several pages and output this in a PDF document. I have the following page structure: Page 1 Sub 1 Sub 2 Sub 3 On page one, I have a link which executes the below code. What it does, is to retrieve child pages (one level) and put them in a page collection. Then I loop trough the page collection and retrieve each sub pages URL. This works. I've tested and seen that it retrieves 3 different URL's. The problem is that my PDF gets three pages of Page 1. It does not render Sub 1 to 3. Why isn't docID = document.AddImageUrl(pageLink) retrieving the pages? Websupergoo refers to a caching problem which may occur. But their solution did not help me. • Cascading dropdownlist jQuery does not retain value on post back.

  I have two html select server control on an add data form page. the user selects a value in the first html select server control and then values are populated into the second html select server control with jquery. The problem is when a a user clicks the save button and the page posts back, the values are no longer in the drop down list populated by jQuery. The drop downlist is a html server control, shouldn't it retain the values on post-back? • Why does a user have to enter "Profile" data to enter data into other tables?

  EDIT It appears the user has to enter some data for his profile, otherwise I get this error below. I guess if there is no profile data, the user can not continue to enter data in other tables by default? I do not want to make entering user profile data a requirement to use the rest of the sites functionality, how can I get around this? Currently I have been testing everything with the same user and everything has been working fine. However, when I created a new user for the very first time and tried to enter data into my custom table, I get the following error. The INSERT statement conflicted with the FOREIGN KEY constraint "FK_UserData_aspnet_Profile". The conflict occurred in database "C:\ISTATE\APP_DATA\ASPNETDB.MDF", table "dbo.aspnet_Profile", column 'UserId'. The statement has been terminated. Not sure why I am getting this error. I have the user controls set up in ASP.NET 3.5 however all I am using is my own table or at least that I am aware of. I have a custom UserData table that includes the columns: id, UserProfileID, CL, LL, SL, DateTime (id is the auto incremented int) The intent is that all users will add their data in this table and as I mentioned above it has been working fine for my original first user I created. However, when i created a new user I am getting this problem. • Ninject.Web.PageBase still resulting in null reference to injected dependency

  I have an ASP.NET 3.5 WebForms application using Ninject 2.0. However, attempting to use the Ninject.Web extension to provide injection into System.Web.UI.Page, I'm getting a null reference to my injected dependency even though if I switch to using a service locator to provide the reference (using Ninject), there's no issue. Ideally I would like to prompt for authorization and extended permissions for my desktop app when a user logins into the web front end then save the sessionKey and uid in the database. At night when my process runs, I would reference the sessionKey and uid in order and update the user's status. I am finding myself fumbling between whether or not my app should be a web or desktop app. Having both a web and desktop app would be confusing to my users, because they would have to grant/manage permissions for both apps. And I looking at this the wrong way? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

• Print Preview Control used in a custom Print Preview Dialog.

  I have successfully implemented printing and print preview for my app using the PrintDocument, PrintDialog and PrintPreviewDialog classes of .NET. However my app uses a toolkit to improve the appearance of the standard .NET controls. There are versions of most .NET controls in the toolkit, but none for the Print controls. Therefore to ensure that the appearance of these controls matches the rest of the app I am creating a custom PrintPreviewDialog based on a toolkit form and embedding a .NET PrintPrewviewControl in it. My problem is that the PrintPreviewControl always shows "No pages to display". I had no trouble getting this to work using the .NET PrintPreviewDialog and cannot see what I am doing wrong. This is a .NET 2.0 PrintPreviewControl and so I know that I need to call InvalidatePreview() after assigning the PrintDocument. However it does not seem to matter where i place it, the PrintPage event handler never gets called... EDIT: I've just noticed that while the original PrintDocument m_printDocument shows a PrintPageHandler in its properties, the m_printPreviewControl.Document does not. • log4net not logging with a mixture of .net 1.1 and .net 3.5

  Hi All, I have an iis server on a windows 2003 production machine that will not log using log4net in the .net3.5 web application. Log4net works fine in the 1.1 apps using log4net version 1.2.9.0 and but not the 3.5 web app. The logging works fine in a development and staging environment but not in production. It does not error and I receive no events logged in the event viewer and don't know where to look next. I have tried both versions of log4net (1.2.9.0 and 1.2.10.0) and both work in development and staging but not in production. For testing purposes I have created just a single page application that just echos back the time when the page is hit and also is supposed to log to my logfile using log4net. • Custom Control Not Playing Nice With PropertyGrid

  I have a class that is implementing a custom ToolStripItem. Everything seems to work great until I try to add the item to a ContextMenuStrip at design time. If I try to add my custom control straight from the ContextMenuStrip the PropertyGrid freezes up and will not let me modify my Checked or Text properties. But if I go into the ContextMenuStrip PropertyGrid and add my custom control through the Items(...) property, I can modify the custom control just fine within that dialog. I'm not sure if I'm missing an attribute somewhere of if its a problem with the underlying code. Here is a copy of the CustomToolStripItem class. As you can see, its a very simple class. I have a form that posts to a details page (/Summary/Details), which loads in some data from SQL. I then have a button that opens a dialog box in JQuery, which populates the dialog from a request to (/Operator/Modify). On the dialog box, the form has a combo box and an OK button that lets the user change the operator's name. Upon clicking OK, the form is posted to (/Operator/Modify) and sent through the service and repository layers of my program and updates the record in the database. Then, the RedirectToAction is called to send the user back to the details page (/Summary/Details) where there is a call to pull the data from SQL again, updating the details view. Everything works great, except the details view does not show the new operator that was selected. I can step through the code and see the DCSDataContext class being accessed to update the operator (which does actually change the database record), but when the DCSDataContext is accessed to reload the details objects, it pulls in the old value. I'm guessing that StructureMap is causing not only the DCSDataContext class but also the data to be cached? I have also tried adding the following to the Global.asax, but it just ends up crashing the program telling me the DCSDataContext has been disposed... When I run the application a command window is also displayed as well as the application window. • Tearing my hair out - ASP.Net AJAX AutoComplete not working

  Hope someone can help with this. I've been up and down the web and through this site looking for an answer, but still can't get the Autocomplete AJAX control to work. I've gone from trying to include it in an existing site to stripping it right back to a very basic form and it's still not functioning. I'm using Visual Web Developer 2008 at the moment, this is running on Localhost. I think I've exhausted all the "Try this..." options I can find, everything from adding in [ScriptMethod] to changing things in Web.Config. Is there anything obviously wrong with this code? Only other thing that may be having an effect is in Global.asax I do a Context.RewritePath to rewrite URLs - does this have any effect on AJAX? Thanks for any help you can give.
