    I have a solution with 2 projects: My Application 1.2.54 (C# WinForms) My Application Setup 1.0.0.0 (WiX Setup) I would like to add a post-build event to the WiX Setup project to run a batch file and pass it a command line parameter of My Application's assembly version number. The code may look something like this: CALL MyBatchFile.bat "$(fileVersion.ProductVersion($(var.My Application.TargetPath)))" But this results in the following error: Unhandled Exception:The expression """.My Application" cannot be evaluated. Method 'System.String.My Application' not found. C:\My Application\My Application Setup\My Application Setup.wixproj Error: The expression """.My Application" cannot be evaluated. Method 'System.String.My Application' not found. C:\My Application\My Application Setup\My Application Setup.wixproj I would like to be able to pass "1.2.54" to MyBatchFile.bat somehow.

  • Simple Moq ? - Problem with .Verify

    Hi, just a simple question here. I've used Moq for awhile but, as of yet, have only used it for stubbing and not for mocking. I am trying to introduce our developers to unit testing. I set up a simple example to explain the concepts but i can't seem to get it working.     Hello, I've recently set up an ASP.net site (not using MVC.net) to use URL Routing (more on the code below) - when using user controls on the site (i.e I've created a "menu" user control to hold menu information) the page_load event for that control will fire twice when URLs have more than one variable passed over. i.e. pageName/VAR1 : will only fire the page_load event once. while pageName/VAR1/VAR2 : will fire the page_load event twice. *Multiple extra VARs added on the end will still only fire the page_load event twice*.     Is it possible to detect if a given string is valid regular expression, using just regular expressions? Say I have some strings, that may or may not be a valid regular expressions. I'd like to have a regular expression matches those string that correspond to valid regular expression. Is that possible? Or do I have use some higher level grammar (i.e. context free language) to detect this? Does it affect if I am using some extended version of regexps like Perl regexps? If that is possible, what the regexp matching regexp is?

  • WPF Reusing Xaml Effectively

    Hi, I've recently been working on a project using WPF to produce a diagram. In this I must show text alongside symbols that illustrate information associated with the text. To draw the symbols I initially used some png images I had produced. Within my diagram these images appeared blurry and only looked worse when zoomed in on. To improve on this I decided I would use a vector rather than a rastor image format. Below is the method I used to get the rastor image from a file path: protected Image GetSymbolImage(string symbolPath, int symbolHeight) { Image symbol = new Image(); symbol.Height = symbolHeight; BitmapImage bitmapImage = new BitmapImage(); bitmapImage.BeginInit(); bitmapImage.UriSource = new Uri(symbolPath); bitmapImage.DecodePixelHeight = symbolHeight; bitmapImage.EndInit(); symbol.Source = bitmapImage; return symbol; } Unfortunately this does not recognise vector image formats. So instead I used a method like the following, where "path" is the file path to a vector image of the format .xaml: public static Canvas LoadXamlCanvas(string path) { //if a file exists at the specified path if (File.Exists(path)) { //store the text in the file string text = File.ReadAllText(path); //produce a canvas from the text StringReader stringReader = new StringReader(text); XmlReader xmlReader = XmlReader.Create(stringReader); Canvas c = (Canvas)XamlReader.Load(xmlReader); //return the canvas return c; } return null; } This worked but drastically killed performance when called repeatedly. I found the logic necessary for text to canvas conversion (see above) was the main cause of the performance problem therefore embedding the .xaml images would not alone resolve the performance issue. I tried using this method only on the initial load of my application and storing the resulting canvases in a dictionary that could later be accessed much quicker but I later realised when using the canvases within the dictionary I would have to make copies of them. All the logic I found online associated with making copies used a XamlWriter and XamlReader which would again just introduce a performance problem. The solution I used was to copy the contents of each .xaml image into its own user control and then make use of these user controls where appropriate. This means I now display vector graphics and performance is much better. However this solution to me seems pretty clumsy. I'm new to WPF and wonder if there is some built in way of storing and reusing xaml throughout an application? Apologies for the length of this question. I thought having a record of my attempts might help someone with any similar problem. Thanks.

    Is there a way to invoke a generic function with a type known only at run time? Also I know this can be done with reflections... but it's not the nicest solution to the problem... I'm sort of looking for dynamic features in C#...

  • WCF Service with callbacks coming from background thread?

    Here is my situation. I have written a WCF service which calls into one of our vendor's code bases to perform operations, such as Login, Logout, etc. A requirement of this operation is that we have a background thread to receive events as a result of that action. For example, the Login action is sent on the main thread. Then, several events are received back from the vendor service as a result of the login. There can be 1, 2, or several events received. The background thread, which runs on a timer, receives these events and fires an event in the wcf service to notify that a new event has arrived. I have implemented the WCF service in Duplex mode, and planned to use callbacks to notify the UI that events have arrived. Here is my question: How do I send new events from the background thread to the thread which is executing the service? Right now, when I call OperationContext.Current.GetCallbackChannel<IMyCallback>(), the OperationContext is null. Is there a standard pattern to get around this? I am using PerSession as my SessionMode on the ServiceContract. UPDATE: I thought I'd make my exact scenario clearer by demonstrating how I'm receiving events from the vendor code. My library receives each event, determines what the event is, and fires off an event for that particular occurrence. I have another project which is a class library specifically for connecting to the vendor service.   • Why does C# exit when calling the Ada elaboration routine using debug?

    I have a DLL created in Ada using GPS. I am dynamically loading it and calling it successfully both from Ada and from C++. But when I try to call it from C#, the program exits on the call to Elaboration init. What am I missing? The exact same DLL is perfectly happy getting called from C++ and Ada. Edit: If I start the program without Debugging, it also works with C#. But if I run it with the Debugger, then it exits on the call to ElaborationInit. There are no indications in any of the Windows event logs.     I'm trying to connect to a custom http service written by another developer. The service responds fine on a local IP address and port number. Such as: http://10.1.1.1:1234 but it does NOT respond to http://localhost:1234 or http://127.0.0.1:1234 The service is a simple single function application written in VC++ that takes an http post string and returns another string. I'm trying to all it from C# using HttpWebRequest.GetResponse, but I can reproduce the same problem manually from a web browser... Test environment is Windows 2008 Server. Bottom line I'm looking for some troubleshooting tips to help the other developer fix his code.

    I have to handle this scenario in Java: I'm getting a request in XML form from a client with declared encoding=utf-8. Unfortunately it may contain not utf-8 characters and there is a requirement to remove these characters from the xml on my side (legacy). Let's consider an example where this invalid XML contains £ (pound). 1) I get xml as java String with £ in it (I don't have access to interface right now, but I probably get xml as a java String). Can I use replaceAll(£, "") to get rid of this character? Any potential issues? 2) I get xml as an array of bytes - how to handle this operation safely in that case?

    Hi guys, I have to implement map values in my Grails app. I have a class that can contain 0..N OsmTags, and the key is unique. In Java I would model this with a Map in each object, but I don't know how to map classes in Grails. So I defined this class: class OsmTag { /** OSM tag name, e.g. natural */ String key /** OSM tag value, e.g. park */ String value static constraints = { key blank:false, size:2..80,matches:/[\S]+/, unique:false value blank:false, size:1..250,matches:/[\S]+/, unique:false } } That works ok, but it's actually quite ugly because the tag key is not unique.     I've never seen this done but I had an idea of doing authorization in a more purely OO way. For each method that requires authorization we associate a delegate. During initialization of the class we wire up the delegates so that they point to the appropriate method (based on the user's rights). For example: class User { private deleteMemberDelegate deleteMember; public StatusMessage DeleteMember(Member member) { if(deleteMember != null) { deleteMember(member); } } //other methods defined similarly... User(string name, string password) //cstor. { //wire up delegates based on user's rights. //Thus we handle authentication and authorization in the same method. } } This way the client code never has to explictly check whether or not a user is in a role, it just calls the method. Of course each method should return a status message so that we know if and why it failed. Thoughts?

    <input src="LOGO.JPG" type="image" name="imagem"> I have an xml element that contains the image path that needs to be displayed in HTML after the parse. <xsl:value-of select="image"/> returns the string that is stored in the image element but how can I use it to make that string be the src atribute value in an html tag? I tried <input src="<xsl:value-of select="image"/>" type="image" name="imagem"> but obviously that doesn't work so how can it be done? I hope I was clear in my question. Please help!

    I am trying to add multiple rows at once to a jQuery Datatable. I would like to be able to create a string such as the one below and call a function to add these elements as rows in the table. Is there a function that will allow me to do this? var trString = "<tr class='custom class'><td></td><td></td></tr><tr class='custom class'><td></td><td></td></tr><tr class='custom class'><td></td><td></td></tr>" I have seen the fnAddData function but I would not be able to add my custom classes dynamically to the rows using that function. Also I have tried fnAddTr but I keep receiving an error saying my object does not have the method "getelementsByTagName" again, is there a function that will allow me to add a string of "" to a datatable?
