  • Ruby data structure to render a certain JSON format

    - by dt
    [{"id":"123","name":"House"}, {"id":"1456","name":"Desperate Housewives"}, {"id":"789","name":"Dollhouse"}, {"id":"10","name":"Full House"} ] How can I render to produce this JSON format from within Ruby? I have all the data from the DB (@result) and don't know what data structure to use in Ruby that will render to this when I do this: respond_to do |format| format.json { render :json = @result} end What data structure should @result be and how can I iterate to produce it? Thank you!

  • How to know when a download has finished?

    - by Eric
    Hello, Is there a way to tell if when a download has finished? That is, we allow users to download a report in PDF format. It takes about 3 - 5 seconds to start downloading and in this time, from click to end of download, show a wait state icon so that the user doesn't click multiple times. Thanks! Eric

  • Activity Indicator not displaying based on whether the UIWebView is loading or not...

    - by Jack W-H
    Hi folks Sorry if this is an easy one. Basically, here is my code: MainViewController.h: // // MainViewController.h // Site // // Created by Jack Webb-Heller on 19/03/2010. // Copyright __MyCompanyName__ 2010. All rights reserved. // #import "FlipsideViewController.h" @interface MainViewController : UIViewController <UIWebViewDelegate, FlipsideViewControllerDelegate> { IBOutlet UIWebView *webView; IBOutlet UIActivityIndicatorView *spinner; } - (IBAction)showInfo; @property(nonatomic,retain) UIWebView *webView; @property(nonatomic,retain) UIActivityIndicatorView *spinner; @end MainViewController.m: // // MainViewController.m // Site // // Created by Jack Webb-Heller on 19/03/2010. // Copyright __MyCompanyName__ 2010. [super didReceiveMemoryWarning]; // Release any cached data, images, etc that aren't in use. } - (void)viewDidUnload { // Release any retained subviews of the main view. // e.g. self.myOutlet = nil; } - (void)dealloc { [spinner release]; [webView release]; [super dealloc]; } @end Unfortunately nothing is ever written to my log, and for some reason the Activity Indicator never seems to appear. What's going wrong here? Thanks folks Jack

  • Should Application_End fire on an automatic App Pool Recycle?

    - by Laramie
    I have read this, this, this and this plus a dozen other posts/blogs. I have an ASP.Net app in shared hosting that is frequently recycling. We use NLog and have the following code in global.asax void Application_Start(object sender, EventArgs e) { NLog.Logger logger = NLog.LogManager.GetCurrentClassLogger(); logger.Debug("\r\n\r\nAPPLICATION STARTING\r\n\r\n"); } protected void Application_OnEnd(Object sender, EventArgs e) { NLog.Logger logger = NLog.LogManager.GetCurrentClassLogger(); logger.Debug("\r\n\r\nAPPLICATION_OnEnd\r\n\r\n"); } void Application_End(object sender, EventArgs e) { HttpRuntime runtime = (HttpRuntime)typeof(System.Web.HttpRuntime).InvokeMember("_theRuntime", BindingFlags.NonPublic | BindingFlags.Static | BindingFlags.GetField, null, null, null); if (runtime == null) return; string shutDownMessage = (string)runtime.GetType().InvokeMember("_shutDownMessage", BindingFlags.NonPublic | BindingFlags.Instance | BindingFlags.GetField, null, runtime, null); string shutDownStack = (string)runtime.GetType().InvokeMember("_shutDownStack", BindingFlags.NonPublic | BindingFlags.Instance | BindingFlags.GetField, null, runtime, null); ApplicationShutdownReason shutdownReason = System.Web.Hosting.HostingEnvironment.ShutdownReason; NLog.Logger logger = NLog.LogManager.GetCurrentClassLogger(); logger.Debug(String.Format("\r\n\r\nAPPLICATION END\r\n\r\n_shutDownReason = {2}\r\n\r\n _shutDownMessage = {0}\r\n\r\n_shutDownStack = {1}\r\n\r\n", shutDownMessage, shutDownStack, shutdownReason)); } void Application_Error(object sender, EventArgs e) { NLog.Logger logger = NLog.LogManager.GetCurrentClassLogger(); logger.Debug("\r\n\r\nApplication_Error\r\n\r\n"); } Our log file is littered with "APPLICATION STARTING" entries, but neither Application_OnEnd, Application_End, nor Application_Error are ever fired during these spontaneous restarts. I know they are working because there are entries for touching the web.config or /bin files. We also ran a memory overload test and can trigger an OutOfMemoryException which is caught in Application_Error. We are trying to determine whether the virtual memory limit is causing the recycling. We have added GC.GetTotalMemory(false) throughout the code, but this is for all of .Net, not just our App´s pool, correct? We've also tried var oPerfCounter = new PerformanceCounter(); oPerfCounter.CategoryName = "Process"; oPerfCounter.CounterName = "Virtual Bytes"; oPerfCounter.InstanceName = "iisExpress"; logger.Debug("Virtual Bytes: " + oPerfCounter.RawValue + " bytes"); but don't have permission in shared hosting. I've monitored the app on a dev server with the same requests that caused the recycles in production with ANTS Memory Profiler attached and can't seem to find a culprit. We have also run it with a debugger attached in dev to check for uncaught exceptions in spawned threads that might cause the app to abort. My questions are these: How can I effectively monitor memory usage in shared hosting to tell how much my application is consuming prior to an application recycle? Why are the Application_[End/OnEnd/Error] handlers in global.asax not being called? How else can I determine what is causing these recycles? Thanks.

  • Updating Checked Checkboxes using CodeIgniter + MySQL

    - by Tim
    Hello I have about 8 check boxes that are being generated dynamically from my database. This is the code in my controller //Start Get Processes Query $this->db->select('*'); $this->db->from('projects_processes'); $this->db->where('process_enabled', '1'); $data['getprocesses'] = $this->db->get(); //End Get Processes Query //Start Get Checked Processes Query $this->db->select('*'); $this->db->from('projects_processes_reg'); $this->db->where('project_id', $project_id); $data['getchecked'] = $this->db->get(); //End Get Processes Query This is the code in my view. <?php if($getprocesses->result_array()) { ?> <?php foreach($getprocesses->result_array() as $getprocessrow): ?> <tr> <td><input <?php if($getchecked->result_array()) { foreach($getchecked->result_array() as $getcheckedrow): if($getprocessrow['process_id'] == $getcheckedrow['process_id']) { echo 'checked'; } endforeach; }?> type="checkbox" name="progresscheck[]" value="<?php echo $getprocessrow['process_id']; ?>"><?php echo $getprocessrow['process_name']; ?><br> </td> </tr> <?php endforeach; ?> This generates the checkboxes into the form and also checks the appropriate ones as specified by the database. The problem is updating them. What I have been doing so far is simply deleting all checkbox entries for the project and then re-inserting all the values into the database. This is bad because 1. It's slow and horrible. 2. I lose all my meta data of when the check boxes were checked. So I guess my question is, how do I update only the checkboxes that have been changed? Thanks, Tim

    I am currently using WMI to query various details about the underlying hardware in order to uniquely identify a machine. To this end, I came across a field called "Signature" under "Win32_DiskDrive". Is this signature unique across machines (globally)? Can this be used reliably to identify the machine? Thanks, Ananth

  • Strange WndProc bug in .Net. VB.Net more specifically.

    - by Jules
    ETA: I use visual studio 2008 express edition. If I override WndProc and mess up somehow, I'll usually backtrack by commenting out code until it works again. The strange thing with WndProc though is you can strip it down to: Protected Overrides Sub WndProc(ByRef m As System.Windows.Forms.Message) MyBase.WndProc((m)) End Sub and it still throws the error. I have to remove the code and retype it in to reset the error. Anyone else experienced this?

  • One-Click Application Moving from WinForms to WPF

    - by Tyler
    I have a WinForms app that I recently re-wrote in WPF and I need to release to my end users. I'd like to be able to have the users go to the ClickOnce install point for the WPF application and have their WinForm application removed so they don't have both on their machine What's the best way (read: easiest for users) of accomplishing this? I have thought about creating an prereq command line app to detect the old version and uninstall, but would like to avoid having to write an something like that where it only get's run once.

  • matlab's phi symbol

    Not that significant, but annoying to no end. Why does matlab has no small phi (\varphi) symbol ? It has pretty much all other symbols LaTeX offers, but not this one. Why ? I may be wrong of course, in which case would be delighted if someone could prove me wrong...

  • Multiple constructors in C

    - by meepz
    Hello, I am making a string class in C as a homework and I was wondering how I can make multiple constructors with the same name given the parameter. The commented out area is what I tried to do with results from a few searches but that gives me errors. Pretty much I have some cases where I want to create my new string without any parameter then in other cases create a string with a pointer to character. Here is mystring.h #include <stdio.h> #include <stdlib.h> typedef struct mystring { char * c; int length; int (*sLength)(void * s); char (*charAt)(void * s, int i); int (*compareTo)(void * s1, void * s2); struct mystring * (*concat)(void * s1, void * s2); struct mystring * (*subString)(void * s, int begin, int end); void (*printS)(void * s); } string_t; typedef string_t * String; String newString(char * c); String newString2(); int slength(void * s); char charat(void * S, int i); int compareto(void * s1, void * s2); String concat(void * s1, void * s2); String substring(void * S, int begin, int end); void printstring(void * s); And here is mystring.c #include "mystring.h" String newString(){ } String newString(char * input){ //String newString::newString(char * input) { String s; s = (string_t *) malloc(sizeof(string_t)); s->c = (char *) malloc(sizeof(char) * 20); int i = 0; if (input == NULL){ s->c[0] = '\0'; return s; } while (input[i] != '\0') { s->c[i] = input[i]; i++; } //functions s->sLength = slength; s->charAt = charat; s->compareTo = compareto; s->concat = concat; s->subString = substring; s->printS = printstring; return s; }

  • Failure with LogonUser in MC++

    - by Alikar
    After fighting with this for a week I have not really gotten anywhere in why it constantly fails in my code, but not in other examples. My code, which while it compiles, will not log into a user that I know has the correct login information. Where it fails is the following line: wi = gcnew WindowsIdentity(token); It fails here because the token is zero, meaning that it was never set to a user token. Here is my full code: #ifndef UNCAPI_H #define UNCAPI_H #include <windows.h> #pragma once using namespace System; using namespace System::Runtime::InteropServices; using namespace System::Security::Principal; using namespace System::Security::Permissions; namespace UNCAPI { public ref class UNCAccess { public: //bool Logon(String ^_srUsername, String ^_srDomain, String ^_srPassword); [PermissionSetAttribute(SecurityAction::Demand, Name = "FullTrust")] bool Logon(String ^_srUsername, String ^_srDomain, String ^_srPassword) { bool bSuccess = false; token = IntPtr(0); bSuccess = LogonUser(_srUsername, _srDomain, _srPassword, 8, 0, &tokenHandle); if(bSuccess) { wi = gcnew WindowsIdentity(token); wic = wi->Impersonate(); } return bSuccess; } void UNCAccess::Logoff() { if (wic != nullptr ) { wic->Undo(); } CloseHandle((int*)token.ToPointer()); } private: [DllImport("advapi32.dll", SetLastError=true)]//[DllImport("advapi32.DLL", EntryPoint="LogonUserW", SetLastError=true, CharSet=CharSet::Unicode, ExactSpelling=true, CallingConvention=CallingConvention::StdCall)] bool static LogonUser(String ^lpszUsername, String ^lpszDomain, String ^lpszPassword, int dwLogonType, int dwLogonProvider, IntPtr *phToken); [DllImport("KERNEL32.DLL", EntryPoint="CloseHandle", SetLastError=true, CharSet=CharSet::Unicode, ExactSpelling=true, CallingConvention=CallingConvention::StdCall)] bool static CloseHandle(int *handle); IntPtr token; WindowsIdentity ^wi; WindowsImpersonationContext ^wic; };// End of Class UNCAccess }// End of Name Space #endif UNCAPI_H Now using this slightly modified example from Microsoft I was able to get a login and a token: #using <mscorlib.dll> #using <System.dll> using namespace System; using namespace System::Runtime::InteropServices; using namespace System::Security::Principal; using namespace System::Security::Permissions; [assembly:SecurityPermissionAttribute(SecurityAction::RequestMinimum, UnmanagedCode=true)] [assembly:PermissionSetAttribute(SecurityAction::RequestMinimum, Name = "FullTrust")]; [DllImport("advapi32.dll", SetLastError=true)] bool LogonUser(String^ lpszUsername, String^ lpszDomain, String^ lpszPassword, int dwLogonType, int dwLogonProvider, IntPtr* phToken); [DllImport("kernel32.dll", CharSet=System::Runtime::InteropServices::CharSet::Auto)] int FormatMessage(int dwFlags, IntPtr* lpSource, int dwMessageId, int dwLanguageId, String^ lpBuffer, int nSize, IntPtr *Arguments); [DllImport("kernel32.dll", CharSet=CharSet::Auto)] bool CloseHandle(IntPtr handle); [DllImport("advapi32.dll", CharSet=CharSet::Auto, SetLastError=true)] bool DuplicateToken(IntPtr ExistingTokenHandle, int SECURITY_IMPERSONATION_LEVEL, IntPtr* DuplicateTokenHandle); // GetErrorMessage formats and returns an error message // corresponding to the input errorCode. • Steganography : Encoded audio and video file not being played, getting corrupted. What is the issue

    - by Shantanu Gupta
    I have made a steganography program to encrypt/Decrypt some text under image audio and video. I used image as bmp(54 byte header) file, audio as wav(44 byte header) file and video as avi(56 byte header) file formats. When I tries to encrypt text under all these file then it gets encrypted successfully and are also getting decrypted correctly. But it is creating a problem with audio and video i.e these files are not being played after encrypted result. What can be the problem. I am working on Turbo C++ compiler. I know it is super outdated compiler but I have to do it in this only. Here is my code to encrypt. int Binary_encode(char *txtSourceFileName, char *binarySourceFileName, char *binaryTargetFileName,const short headerSize) { long BinarySourceSize=0,TextSourceSize=0; char *Buffer; long BlockSize=10240, i=0; ifstream ReadTxt, ReadBinary; //reads ReadTxt.open(txtSourceFileName,ios::binary|ios::in);//file name, mode of open, here input mode i.e. read only if(!ReadTxt) { cprintf("\nFile can not be opened."); return 0; } ReadBinary.open(binarySourceFileName,ios::binary|ios::in);//file name, mode of open, here input mode i.e. read only if(!ReadBinary) { ReadTxt.close();//closing opened file cprintf("\nFile can not be opened."); return 0; } ReadBinary.seekg(0,ios::end);//setting pointer to a file at the end of file. ReadTxt.seekg(0,ios::end); BinarySourceSize=(long )ReadBinary.tellg(); //returns the position of pointer TextSourceSize=(long )ReadTxt.tellg(); //returns the position of pointer ReadBinary.seekg(0,ios::beg); //sets the pointer to the begining of file ReadTxt.seekg(0,ios::beg); //sets the pointer to the begining of file if(BinarySourceSize<TextSourceSize*50) //Minimum size of an image should be 50 times the size of file to be encrypted { cout<<"\n\n"; cprintf("Binary File size should be bigger than text file size."); ReadBinary.close(); ReadTxt.close(); return 0; } cout<<"\n"; cprintf("\n\nSize of Source Image/Audio File is : "); cout<<(float)BinarySourceSize/1024; cprintf("KB"); cout<<"\n"; cprintf("Size of Text File is "); cout<<TextSourceSize; cprintf(" Bytes"); cout<<"\n"; getch(); //write header to file without changing else file will not open //bmp image's header size is 53 bytes Buffer=new char[headerSize]; ofstream WriteBinary; // writes to file WriteBinary.open(binaryTargetFileName,ios::binary|ios::out|ios::trunc);//file will be created or truncated if already exists ReadBinary.read(Buffer,headerSize);//reads no of bytes and stores them into mem, size contains no of bytes in a file WriteBinary.write(Buffer,headerSize);//writes header to 2nd image delete[] Buffer;//deallocate memory /* Buffer = new char[sizeof(long)]; Buffer = (char *)(&TextSourceSize); cout<<Buffer; */ WriteBinary.write((char *)(&TextSourceSize),sizeof(long)); //writes no of byte to be written in image immediate after header ends //to decrypt file if(!(Buffer=new char[TextSourceSize])) { cprintf("Enough Memory could not be assigned."); return 0; } ReadTxt.read(Buffer,TextSourceSize);//read all data from text file ReadTxt.close();//file no more needed WriteBinary.write(Buffer,TextSourceSize);//writes all text file data into image delete[] Buffer;//deallocate memory //replace Tsize+1 below with Tsize and run the program to see the change //this is due to the reason that 50-54 byte no are of colors which we will be changing ReadBinary.seekg(TextSourceSize+1,ios::cur);//move pointer to the location-current loc i.e. 53+content of text file //write remaining image content to image file while(i<BinarySourceSize-headerSize-TextSourceSize+1) { i=i+BlockSize; Buffer=new char[BlockSize]; ReadBinary.read(Buffer,BlockSize);//reads no of bytes and stores them into mem, size contains no of bytes in a file WriteBinary.write(Buffer,BlockSize); delete[] Buffer; //clear memory, else program can fail giving correct output } ReadBinary.close(); WriteBinary.close(); //Encoding Completed return 0; } Code to decrypt int Binary_decode(char *binarySourceFileName, char *txtTargetFileName, const short headerSize) { long TextDestinationSize=0; char *Buffer; long BlockSize=10240; ifstream ReadBinary; ofstream WriteText; ReadBinary.open(binarySourceFileName,ios::binary|ios::in);//file will be appended if(!ReadBinary) { cprintf("File can not be opened"); return 0; } ReadBinary.seekg(headerSize,ios::beg); Buffer=new char[4]; ReadBinary.read(Buffer,4); TextDestinationSize=*((long *)Buffer); delete[] Buffer; cout<<"\n\n"; cprintf("Size of the File that will be created is : "); cout<<TextDestinationSize; cprintf(" Bytes"); cout<<"\n\n"; sleep(1); WriteText.open(txtTargetFileName,ios::binary|ios::out|ios::trunc);//file will be created if not exists else truncate its data while(TextDestinationSize>0) { if(TextDestinationSize<BlockSize) BlockSize=TextDestinationSize; Buffer= new char[BlockSize]; ReadBinary.read(Buffer,BlockSize); WriteText.write(Buffer,BlockSize); delete[] Buffer; TextDestinationSize=TextDestinationSize-BlockSize; } ReadBinary.close(); WriteText.close(); return 0; } int text_encode(char *SourcefileName, char *DestinationfileName) { ifstream fr; //reads ofstream fw; // writes to file char c; int random; clrscr(); fr.open(SourcefileName,ios::binary);//file name, mode of open, here input mode i.e. read only if(!fr) { cprintf("File can not be opened."); getch(); return 0; } fw.open(DestinationfileName,ios::binary|ios::out|ios::trunc);//file will be created or truncated if already exists while(fr) { int i; while(fr!=0) { fr.get(c); //reads a character from file and increments its pointer char ch; ch=c; ch=ch+1; fw<<ch; //appends character in c to a file } } fr.close(); fw.close(); return 0; } int text_decode(char *SourcefileName, char *DestinationName) { ifstream fr; //reads ofstream fw; // wrrites to file char c; int random; clrscr(); fr.open(SourcefileName,ios::binary);//file name, mode of open, here input mode i.e. read only if(!fr) { cprintf("File can not be opened."); return 0; } fw.open(DestinationName,ios::binary|ios::out|ios::trunc);//file will be created or truncated if already exists while(fr) { int i; while(fr!=0) { fr.get(c); //reads a character from file and increments its pointer char ch; ch=c; ch=ch-1; fw<<ch; //appends character in c to a file } } fr.close(); fw.close(); return 0; }
