  • Flex SDK missing fundamental things

    All of a sudden Flash Builder 4 is missing all kinds of fundamental things and is generating incorrect errors. I've had the same issue yesterday, where I fixed it by downloading a new Flex SDK and importing that into FB. I did this again, but this time it fixed nothing. I don't think it's something I did, like removing critical references from the build path. The errors also appeared on projects I was not working on at the time. It occurs for ActionScript, Flex and Flex Library projects alike. Update 3: Well, i've singled the problem down to a single piece of code, though a very simple one. I can make a new workspace in FB and things work ok, then screw the workspace up forever by adding this code to a project. All projects will have errors and closing or even removing the faulty project does not change this. Making another new workspace (without the faulty code) makes my projects compile again. It appears to be an SDK problem, not Flash Builder.     Does anyone have any good stories of these kinds of organizations being open to using open source dependencies (and also tools). Many staff I've encountered have little or no exposure to open source/systems and open source is treated with great suspicion. Some reasons given for this are lack of support and robustness, which is ironic given the number of end-of-life unsupported vendor products that are in production. I'm also interested in any success stories where you've seen open source go into orgs like this and have a real benefit!

    I have a PHP redirect page to track clicks on links. Basically it does: - get url from $_GET - connect to database - create row for url, or update with 1 hit if it exists - redirect browser to url using Location: header I was wondering if it's possible to send the redirect to the client first, so it can get on with it's job, and then log the click. Would simply switching things around work?

  • Application compiled by Flex Builder 3 does not trace

    I've built a simple application in Flex Builder 3 with some trace() calls. It's an "ActionScript Project", no MXML or AIR involved. I don't run the app from within Eclipse, I just open the generated html file with Firefox. I'm using the Flash Player 10 Debug version. I've correctly set mm.cnf to log trace output, following the official instructions. A flashlog.txt file is generate in the appropriate location. Despite all that, trace output is not shown in the log file. What am I doing wrong? (I suspect it's a compiler option, but I can find no such option in the project options in FlexBuilder) (If I do run the app from Eclipse, by pressing F11, I can see trace output but only inside Eclipse, not in the log file)

  • Calculate shortest path through a grocery store

    Hi, I'm trying to find a way to find the shortest path through a grocery store, visiting a list of locations (shopping list). The path should start at a specified startposition and can end at multiple endpositions (there are multiple checkout counters). Also, I have some predefined constraints on the path, such as "item x on the shopping list needs to be the last, second last, or third last item on the path". There is a function that will return true or false for a given path. Finally, this needs to be calculated with limited cpu power (on a smartphone) and within a second or so. If this isn't possible, then an approximation to the optimal path is also ok. Is this possible? So far I think I need to start by calculating the distance between every item on the list using something like A* or Dijkstra's. After that, should I treat it like the travelling salesman problem? Because in my problem there is a specified startnode, specified endnodes, and some constraints, which are not in the travelling salesman problem. Any help would be appreciated :)

  • Java's Scanner class: using left- and right buttons with Bash

    I'm not too familiar with Linux/Bash, so I can't really find the right terms to search for. Take the snippet: public class Main { public static void main(String[] args) { java.util.Scanner keyboard = new java.util.Scanner(System.in); while(true) { System.out.print("$ "); String in = keyboard.nextLine(); if(in.equals("q")) break; System.out.println(" "+in); } } } If I run it on my Linux box using Bash, I can't use any of the arrow buttons (I'm only interested in the left- and right button, btw). For example, if I type "test" and then try to go back by pressing the left button, ^[[D appears instead of my cursor going back one place: $ test^[[D I've tried the newer Console class as well, but the end result is the same. On Windows' cmd.exe shell, I don't have this problem. So, the question is: is there a way to change my Java code so that I can use the arrow keys without Bash transforming them in sequences like ^[[D but actually move the cursor instead? I'm hoping that I can solve this on a "programming level". If this is not possible, then I guess I'd better try my luck on Superuser to see if there's something I need to change on my Bash console.     If you open a dialog in Swing, for example a JFileChooser, it goes somewhat like this pseudocode: swing event thread { create dialog add listener to dialog close event { returnValue = somethingFromDialog } show dialog (wait until it is closed) return returnValue } My question is: how can this possibly work? As you can see the thread waits to return until the dialog is closed. This means the Swing event thread is blocked. Yet, one can interact with the dialog, which AFAIK requires this thread to run. So how does that work?

  • Fast or asynchronous AS3 JPEG encoding

    I'm currently using the JPGEncoder from the AS3 core lib to encode a bitmap to JPEG var enc:JPGEncoder = new JPGEncoder(90); var jpg:ByteArray = enc.encode(bitmap); Because the bitmap is rather large (3000 x 2000) the encoding takes a long while (about 20 seconds), causing the application to seemingly freeze while encoding. To solve this, I need either: An asynchronous encoder so I can keep updating the screen (with a progress bar or something) while encoding An alternative encoder which is simply faster Is either possible?

    We're currently working on an API that will be consumed by a variety of different devices. We want to use the OAuth2 spec as it defines several flows which were not available in the original OAuth spec. My question is, what flow would work best for a mobile device such as the iPhone or iPad? What flow does an application like TweetDeck use? Looking around the web it seems clients like TweetDeck use the 'Username and Password Credentials Flow" (browserless token exchange). Can anyone provide more information on this topic?

  • Setting CommandTarget to selected control in a TabControl

    I have a WPF window with a few buttons and a tabcontrol having a tab for each 'document' the user is working on. The tabcontrol uses a DataTemplate to render the data in ItemSource of the tabcontrol. The question: If one of the buttons is clicked, the command should be executed on the control rendering the document in the active tab, but I've no idea what I should set CommandTarget to. I tried {Binding ElementName=nameOfControlInDataTemplate} but that obviously doesn't work.   • PHP autoloader: ignoring non-existing include

    I have a problem with my autoloader: public function loadClass($className) { $file = str_replace(array('_', '\\'), '/', $className) . '.php'; include_once $file; } As you can see, it's quite simple. I just deduce the filename of the class and try to include it. I have a problem though; I get an exception when trying to load a non-existing class (because I have an error handler which throws exceptions). This is inconvenient, because it's also fired when you use class_exists() on a non-existing class. You don't want an exception there, just a "false" returned. I fixed this earlier by putting an @ before the include (supressing all errors). The big drawback with this, though, is that any parser/compiler errors (that are fatal) in this include won't show up (not even in the logs), resulting in a hard to find bug. What would be the best way to solve both problems at once? The easiest way would be to include something like this in the autoloader (pseudocode): foreach (path in the include_path) { if (is_readable(the path + the class name)) readable = true; } if (!readable) return; But I worry about the performance there.     Does anyone have any good stories of these kinds of organizations being open to using open source (such as tools like Maven etc). Many staff I've encountered have little or no exposure to open source/systems and open source is treated with great suspicion. Some reasons given for this are lack of support and robustness, which is ironic given the number of end-of-life unsupported vendor products that are in production. Bonus points for any success stories where you've seen open source go into orgs like this and have a real benefit!

    In my VB.net apps i make use of Linq2SQL and Reportviewer with RDLC reports. With Visual Studio 2010 they upgraded this reportviewer component so you can use the newer RDL specification from 2008. Now I've a problem to show related objects. For example assume you provide an order to the datasource of the report and then you can show something like Fields!Customer.Value.Name where Customer is a related entity. I also got the error in my immediate window: *Warning: The Value expression for the textrun ‘Name_1.Paragraphs[0].TextRuns[0]’ contains an error: The specified operation is not valid. (rsRuntimeErrorInExpression)*

Now the game is changed so deltaTime isn't always 1/30 but becomes variable. How can I incorporate deltaTime in the calculation of x to keep the "effect per second" the same?

    On our network (a group of related websites - not a LAN) we have a common authentication system which works like this: On a network site ("consumer") the user clicks on a login link This redirects the user to a login page on our auth system ("RAS"). Upon successful login the user is directed back to the consumer site. Extra data is passed in the query string. This extra data does not include any information about the user yet. The consumer site's backend contacts RAS, with this extra data, to get the information about the logged in user (id, name, email, preferences, etc.). So as you can see, the consumer site knows nothing about the authentication method. It doesn't know if it's by username/password, fingerprint, smartcard, or winning a game of poker. This is the main problem I'm encountering when trying to find out how I could write custom authentication plugins for these packages, acting as consumer sites: Wordpress Joomla MediaWiki For example Joomla offers a pretty simple auth plugin system, but it depends on a username/password entered on the Joomla site. Any hints on where to start?
