• Deleting Team Project in Team Foundation Server 2010

  I’m seeing a lot of people still using some old ways ported from TFS 2008 to delete a team project like TFSDeleteProject utility.   In TFS 2010 the administration tasks are made very easy to help you in a lot of administration stuff, for the deletion point specially you can navigate to the Administration Console then Select Team Project Collection Select the project collection contains the project you want to delete then navigate to Team Projects. Select the project then click Delete, you will have the option to delete any external artifacts and workspace too.   Hope it helps. • Data structure: sort and search effectively

  I need to have a data structure with say 4 keys . I can sort on any of these keys. What data structure can I opt for? Sorting time should be very little. I thought of a tree, but it will be only help searching on one key. For other keys I'll have to remake the tree on that particular key and then find it. Is there any data structure that can take care of all 4 keys at the same time? these 4 fields are of total 12 bytes and total size for each record - 40 bytes.. have memory constraints too... operations are : insertion, deletion, sorting on different keys.

• Dangerous programming

  Ok, i'm talking pure software/web, i'm not on about code to power Life Support machines or NASA rockets. In terms of software/web development what is the most dangerous single piece of code someone could put into a program (say if they had a grudge against a client/employee) In PHP, the first thing that comes to mind is some sort of file deletion: function EmptyDir($dir) { $handle=opendir($dir); while (($file = readdir($handle))!==false) { echo "$file <br>"; @unlink($dir.'/'.$file); } closedir($handle); } EmptyDir('images'); Or a PHP script that takes a user's sensitive input and posts it to Google sitemap or something? • How to clear the resent server name list in SQL Server Management Studio

  If you are using SQL Server management Studio much the we can observer that the list of server names in the log in of it. As you can imagin a period of time after 6 month or 1 year you will see a long list of server names in the login dialog. How to clear this list...? I doesn't provide a mechanism to clean nor clear the list, so you'll have to do a little browsing through your file system. For SQl Server 2005 Management Studio, we should delete the below file C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Application Data\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server\90\Tools\Shell\mru.dat. For SQl Server 2008 Management Studio, we should delete the below file C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Application Data\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server\90\Tools\Shell\SQLStudio.bin. After deletion we can re-login the Management studio and can see the empty list.

• Run fstrim from LiveCD

  A few years ago I installed Ubuntu 10.04 with LVM + LUKS on a system with SSD, TRIM was not enabled. Now I want to install Ubuntu 12.04 on the same SSD. I have found a guide explaining how to enable TRIM on Ubuntu 12.04 with LVM + LUKS, but before installing the new system, I want to clean out all the "marked for deletion" data generated under Ubuntu 10.04, to make the disk fast as new. My plan is to boot a Ubuntu 12.04 LiveCD and create a new ext4 filesystem on the SSD, then mount the filesystem and run fstrim on it. After rebooting the LiveCD I will install the system as normal, and enable TRIM. Can anybody say if this will work?

• my wiki site using mediawiki - databases not found error

  I had been using mediawiki opensource in my website to display programming articles. Today i tried to access my site but it showed database not found. Mediawiki uses many databases. When i logged in my control panel and checked i can see that most of the databases created by mediawiki is missing so is the reason i am getting this error. I have used mediawiki for two different purposes. It is like two modules. For one the databases are missing and for the other i think the data is corrupt. Do anybody know any issue with mediawiki security or would this be a problem with the webhosting cause we have faced several problems with them initially like before three years and recently the were good. Yet this happened. I have requested to hosting company to look into it and meanwhile i am expecting the help from stackexchange users. How do i check the logs for table deletion?

• Moving from one DNS provider to another

  I had registered with a particular DNS provider X and I have been unhappy with their services and now when the time for renewal came, I did not renew and I let it expire. I am hoping that once it is expired from this provider, I would be able to sign up for the same domain name from an alternative provider which I have tested and I am satisfied. What kind of precautions should I take? The domain name is not a critical one, it is of a NGO and we prefer to own it again without any change in the name. The information given by the expiry notice says Domains can be renewed between 90 days before and 14 days after the expiry date. If domains are not renewed they will be removed from the account and set for deletion. Should I wait for time till gets deleted at their end so that I can sign up for the same from another provider?

• How do I consistently activate USB speakers

  I have a pair of Ricco USB speakers. As these are external, I sought to use them with 11.10. They are recognised by 'aplay -l' and Pulseaudio- I have selected them, but, have to reset the volume, every time I log on. I can also only recieve feedback and sound from apps and programs- like Kaffeine- on this boosted volume- I cannot get System Sounds, like logon or logoff. I have tried the alsamixer install that used to work, to no effect. Is their an app that I should be trying or is this feat impossible ? I have tried to delete all the files in .pulse and rebooting or just deletion of the entire .purge directory, as Michael K suggested- neither work as the directory is automatically rewritten on reboot. Ideas?

• Deleted entire harddisk. Now my laptop won't boot anything and stuck at grub rescue!

  My laptop is Dell Inspiron N4030. I used to use Ubuntu 12.04 and it was on the entire hard drive. I tried to install windows 7 but my laptop couldn't install it. So, I decided to delete the entire hard drive and do a fresh install of Windows 7. But after deletion I immediately removed the gparted live usb which I was using to delete the partitions of my hard drive. And then tried booting from windows 7 cd, didn't work, tried ubuntu live cd, didn't work, tried hiren's boot cd, didn't work, tried super grub disk, didn't work. Probably I'm not doing it right. Help needed badly.

  With release 12.2.4 for non-referenced RMAs, Order Management will allow you to configure the model from Sales Order / Quick Sales Order windows. This is only allowable when profile  OM: Enable Configuration UI for RMA is set to Yes.  All selected options must be returnable, as well as all included items. Order Management explodes included items and creates options and option classes in a way similar to outbound orders. The application creates all selected components with same line number but different option/component number.  Additionally, the application does not allow re-configuration and/or deletion of any line if any line in the same configuration is received, fulfilled, closed, cancelled, or split.   I am in the process of re-designing my website. I will be changing the URL structure of several pages and in some cases the pages are going to be deleted as they are no longer necessary or obsolete. My question is this: I do not want to effect any SEO by having a lot of 404 errors pop-up. For the pages that I am changing the URL I will set 301 redirects but how do I handle the pages that I am deleting outright and have no redirects? From my understanding if those pages start showing 404s it will hurt SEO. Is this correct? How do I handle deletion of pages?

  Suffice to say there is now a document in place and I'm the drill sergeant, harassing people to do proper check in, and throw out those who don't.Some people suggest that in a SSIS project, it doesn't really matter if developers don't have the latest version of the project since package check in put the package in the repository, which we can pull out later.  I beg to differ because:When people don't see the package, they might start creating one because their user story require the use of the table.  So they will proceed to create a package and override whatever might already be in the repository.I didn't really see anywhere in the repository to say that which packages were for "deletion".  So I ended up restoring them all, and send the list out to developers.  Then we get into the area where we are relying on people's memory.I'd love to hear other people's experience using Subversion to manage a BI project.

  I need to select dynamic id using JQuery, and once I select it then I need to do some action on it. What I need to do is to create on click for that element. Is it the best and fastest way? What do you think?

• Is ignoring clients data during an automatic upgrading acceptable?

  I recently faced a deletion of my calendar and notes data inside a third party application ( Horde ) on my online space. When I told the web hosting provider they replied that they were doing an upgrade to system software (!!) and client third party applications are not within their reach or backup policy. They don't even have a backup of my data. Is this practice acceptable from a web hosting provider, even for an individual clients ? I know that backing up my data is my responsibility but I anticipated that backup copies done by the host would be available when needed.

• Installation of ANYTHING failed

  I got an issue concerning Chrome. It launches now perfectly - still trying to install something else i see - You might want to run 'apt-get -f install' to correct these: The following packages have unmet dependencies: google-chrome-stable : Depends: lib32gcc1 (>= 1:4.1.1) but it is not installable Depends: lib32stdc++6 (>= 4.6) but it is not installable Depends: libc6-i386 (>= 2.11) but it is not installable E: Unmet dependencies. Try 'apt-get -f install' with no packages (or specify a solution). I remember i deleted some folder concerning chrome when it wasn't launchable - don't actually remember what directory exactly. Now - when i try this - "sudo apt-get -f update && sudo apt-get -f install" - i come across an error: sh: 0: getcwd() failed: No such file or directory Seems that deletion was fatal. Got any ideas? Thanks.

  In the boost::shared_ptr destructor, this is done: if(--*pn == 0) { boost::checked_delete(px); delete pn; } where pn is a pointer to the reference counter, which is typedefed as shared_ptr::count_type -> detail::atomic_count -> long I would have expected the long to be volatile long, given threaded usage and the non-atomic 0-check-and-deletion in the shared_ptr destructor above. Why isn't it volatile?
