    I was having trouble installing irssi (brew install irssi), so I ran brew doctor, which returned a warning mentioning an outdated copy of Xcode and saying I should run /Developer/Library/uninstall-developer-folder. Then I ran brew doctor again and got: Error: No such file or directory - /Developer/SDKs/MacOSX10.6.sdk How do I reinstall the SDK, or is there another way to get Homebrew working again? UPDATE: /Developer actually still exists (despite the obvious implication of uninstall-developer-folder), as does /Developer/SDKs/MacOSX10.7.sdk. Why does Homebrew specifically need Snow Leopard's SDK?

  • Windows Server 2008 R2 network adapter stops working, requires hard reboot

    TL;DR version: Turns out this was a Windows Server 2008 R2 kernel networking bug. After siccing Microsoft support on it, we (eventually) got an unpublished kernel hotfix from Microsoft to address it. If you, too, are experiencing mysterious low-level network driver failures requiring a reboot/bluescreen cycle, you might want that hotfix (or maybe Service Pack 1 whenever it is released, too.) We have been using HAProxy along with heartbeat from the Linux-HA project. We are using two linux instances to provide a failover. Each server has with their own public IP and a single IP which is shared between the two using a virtual interface (eth1:1) at IP: 69.59.196.211 The virtual interface (eth1:1) IP 69.59.196.211 is configured as the gateway for the windows servers behind them and we use ip_forwarding to route traffic. We are experiencing an occasional network outage on one of our windows servers behind our linux gateways. HAProxy will detect the server is offline which we can verify by remoting to the failed server and attempting to ping the gateway: Pinging 69.59.196.211 with 32 bytes of data: Reply from 69.59.196.220: Destination host unreachable. Swapping network cards and switches I noticed the link light on the port of the switch for the failed windows server was running at 100Mb instead of 1Gb on the failed interface. I moved the cable to several other open ports and the link indicated 100Mb for each port that I tried. I also swapped the cable with the same result. I tried changing the properties of the network card in windows and the server locked up and required a hard reset after clicking apply. This windows server has two physical network interfaces so I have swapped the cables and network settings on the two interfaces to see if the problem follows the interface. If the public interface goes down again we will know that it is not an issue with the network card. (We also tried another switch we have on hand, no change) Changing network hardware driver versions We've had the same problem with the latest Broadcom driver, as well as the built-in driver that ships in Windows Server 2008 R2. Replacing network cables As a last ditch effort we remembered another change that occurred was the replacement of all of the patch cords between our servers / switch. We had purchased two sets, one green of lengths 1ft - 3ft for the private interfaces and another set of red cables for the public interfaces. We swapped out all of the public interface patch cables with a different brand and ran our servers without issue for a full week ... aaaaaand then the problem recurred. Disable checksum offload, remove TProxy We also tried disabling TCP/IP checksum offload in the driver, no change. We're now pulling out TProxy and moving to a more traditional x-forwarded-for network arrangement without any fancy IP address rewriting. We'll see if that helps. Switch Virtualization providers On the off chance this was related to Hyper-V in some way (we do host Linux VMs on it), we switched to VMWare Server. No change. Switch host model We've reached the end of our troubleshooting rope and are now formally involving Microsoft support.   • Firefox and Flash requires 2 clicks after Scrolling?

    I've noticed this with me and my partners computers, take a look at this: http://www.uploadify.com/demo/ Those buttons are flash. If you scroll (scroll to the bottom then back up, using your mouse scroll) then hover over a button, it is a normal pointer, not a hand. If you click on the button, then it turns into a hand, then you can click on it to trigger the browse files window. Is there any way to fix this? Is this a Firefox bug (doesn't happen in Chrome or IE8)?

  • SP1 for MS-Windows Vista won't install because it requires SP1

    A laptop with Windows Vista (32-bit) installed (no viruses or SpyWare; the Sony Root Kit SpyWare was recently removed by MalwareBytes). It doesn't currently have Service Pack 1 installed, and although Windows Updates will download and execute it, the installation fails with an error indicating that Service Pack 1 is required. Has anyone encountered this problem and found a way to resolve it? I've tried rebooting, as well as clearing out the MS-Windows Update temporary download files (while shutting down the Windows Installer service), but the problem persists. Thanks in advance.

  • RHEL json gem installation requires make?

    When I try to install json gem (gem install json), at first it fails to do so, because of some dev package issue. After fixing it, it fails saying that "sh: make: command not found" and "ERROR: Error installing json: ERROR: Failed to build gem native extension.". Why is it failing on make? Notice this is not Mac, this is in RHEL 5 (4 or 5, not sure). Why is it not able to do some "build gem native extension"?

    I just know there is two kind of firewalls. Stateless and stateful. It's hard to determine what kind of firewall I have to use. Currently I have to run firewall within same machine runs services, Basically I want stateless because of its less resource consumption. However if it is not sufficient for security, it's meaningless. I'll run HTTP, SSH, NFS (only over SSH), and some custom made server on several TCP/UDP ports. Should I use stateful firewall? (edit) Maybe the question can be assumed as 'Should I use stateful rules?'.

  • Wired connection periodically disconnects requires ipconfig /release and /renew to reconnect

    I just got back into University and after a day of using the internet I suddenly was unable to visit other webpages even though I was still able to chat. I restarted the computer and the internet could no longer visit webpages at all. I got a DNS error from the browser (chrome) and the troubleshooter. The connection comes up as "Network 3" even though It was "Network 2" when it worked. I compared ipconfig /all logs and they seemed identical when it was and was not working. I've found two ways to get internet connection (they no longer work): run ipconfig /release and ipconfig /renew several times set a random address and have the troubleshooter fix the new found dhcp problem (before it says dns cannot fix). I checked and it said DHCP was enabled. But either step one or two usually needs to be repeated several times before the network will change back to "network 2" from the defunct "network 3" and after an hour or so I have problems again. I've tried: Uninstalling windows defender and turning off firewall (windows firewall). Updating Qualcomm Ethernet driver - it is up to date. System Restore (problem resurfaces quickly...it's possible this has something to do with windows update?) Flushing dns and setting dns myself (google one and others). Booting in safe mode with networking...didn't fix anything Reinstalling Ethernet Driver Using other ethernet cable, other wall port. I'm out of ideas. Event filter with query "SELECT * FROM __InstanceModificationEvent WITHIN 60 WHERE TargetInstance ISA "Win32_Processor" AND TargetInstance.LoadPercentage > 99" could not be reactivated in namespace "//./root/CIMV2" because of error 0x80041003. Events cannot be delivered through this filter until the problem is corrected. By the way, Operating System: Windows 7 - 64 Bit. Have downloaded latest windows updates. Update: And my two fixes don't work any more :( . This is now what happens when I try to Ipconfig /renew: C:\Users\Nikko\Desktop>ipconfig /renew Windows IP Configuration An error occurred while renewing interface Local Area Connection : The name spec ified in the network control block (NCB) is in use on a remote adapter. The NCB is the data. An error occurred while releasing interface Loopback Pseudo-Interface 1 : The sy stem cannot find the file specified. Update 2: So my internet is randomly working again today. The IP address I had before was a local one while the university address should start with 155... I didn't do anything to the settings...it's bizarre that it all of a sudden works. Thanks!

    I am unable to play "protected" flash video, such as Amazon Prime Instant Video. From what I've read and uncovered, this seems to be due to a lack of HAL being installed on my computer. Confirmation that it is required for protected video can be seen towards the beginning of http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/multi/flash-player-11-problems-playing.html However, hal is not in the gentoo portage tree, and in any case has been deprecated and replaced by udev. How can I go about getting Amazon Prime Instant Video to work again? I was considering grabbing the source from http://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/Software/hal but the links there won't load, and trying to install it from old ebuilds or from overlays which claim to still support it (e.g. kde-sunset) result in a compilation error: In file included from addon-generic-backlight.c:38:0: /usr/include/glib-2.0/glib/gmain.h:21:2: error: #error "Only <glib.h> can be included directly." Has anyone else solved this issue?

  • Windows update on netbook requires CD (hint, there's no CD drive)

    An "Important" update for Microsoft Works (via Windows Update) on a Dell netbook gets about halfway through and then pops up with the super-awesome "Please insert Microsoft Works 9.0 disc" message. Of course, the netbook has no CD rom drive, there is no handy folder (that i can find) containing "Works9.msi", and I have no Works9 disc. It wouldn't be so bad, except the update keeps coming up everytime WU runs. Any suggestions?

    I followed this document to configure master-slave powerdns servers... http://linuxmanage.com/master-slave-powerdns-managed-by-poweradmin.html Installation completed perfectly no errors even I feel DNS is trying to resolve some queries and parameter.. but while going through intodns.com i get below error for domain names which i have created in powerdns name server installed as above guide. Error Mismatched NS records WARNING: One or more of your nameservers did not return any of your NS records. Error Multiple Nameservers ERROR: Looks like you have less than 2 nameservers. According to RFC2182 section 5 you must have at least 3 nameservers, and no more than 7. Having 2 nameservers is also ok by me. Error Missing nameservers You should already know that your NS records at your reported by your nameservers are missing, so here it is again: nameservers ns1.makeittiny.com. ns2.makeittiny.com. I am much new to powerdns so not able to figure out where problem.. i check all things but not able to make out where problem remains.

    Hi When trying to extract the title of a html-page I have always used the following regex: (?<=<title.*>)([\s\S]*)(?=</title>) Which will extract everything between the tags in a document and ignore the tags themselves.     Ever since I started using Xcode, I've experienced extremely annoying problems using Xcode and Code Sense. The problem is that when Code Sense kicks in for code completion, sometimes the source code text below the line I'm working on goes "crazy". If I continue typing, the problem gets worse, and after a while the source code is completely screwed up (funny colors, missing lines and characters, ...). Strange enough, the source code itself is unaffected, because when I select another source file and then go back to the one I was working on, everything looks fine again. The problem can be seen in this screencast: http://www.screencast.com/t/OGY3NWE5 Interesting facts: This problem has occurred on 3 different machines, so it's not related to a corrupt installation. Sometimes it's fine for a while (up to one hour) after launching Xcode, but once it starts happening, it's getting worse and worse, until Xcode is restarted. Then it's fine again (for a while) I've searched the web for similar experiences, and I can't find anything. I would think that it is a known problem, since it occurs on 3 different Macs here (both running 10.5 and 10.6). Anyone having the same problems? Or a suggestion for fixing this?

    Hi all, I would like to launch the market from a preference screen but when I try to do this I obain a java.lang.SecurityException: Permission Denial: starting Intent { cmp=com.action.test/.ui.activities.Test } from ProcessRecord{44db1300 3697:com.pippo.pluto/10067} (pid=3697, uid=10067) requires null.     Python says I need 4 bytes for a format code of "BH": struct.error: unpack requires a string argument of length 4 Here is the code, I am putting in 3 bytes as I think is needed: major, minor = struct.unpack("BH", self.fp.read(3)) "B" = Unsigned char (1 byte) + "H" unsigned short (2 bytes) = 3 bytes (!?) struct.calcsize("BH") says 4 bytes.

In my understanding, it should be enough to declare the dependencies at the lower level, i.e. in the plugins. Why do we still have the feature.xml requires mechanism?

  • How to programatically sense the iPhone mute switch?

    I can't seem to find in the SDK how to programatically sense the mute button/switch on the iPhone. When my app plays background music, it responds properly to the volume button without me having any code to follow that but, when I use the mute switch, it just keeps playing away. How do I test the position of mute? (NOTE: My program has its own mute switch, but I'd like the physical switch to override that.) Thanks!
