  • Excel 2010 Delete Rows with Locked Cells

    I have a spreadsheet that has formulas that I want to lock, once the information in the row is completed, i.e. there is a discharge date, I want the end-user to be able to delete the row and insert it into another worksheet. I do not want to use VBA, I was successful in sequencing the protection steps, but now can not repeat the process. There has to be a way to use the protect sheet "delete rows" check box and locked cells together to enable this process

  • Desktop stops working in Windows 7

    I'm having an odd problem on one of my Windows 7 machines. At machine startup, explorer.exe is working properly - I can use the Start menu, click on desktop icons, etc. At some later point, though, I lose the ability to interact with desktop icons. I can't double-click to open files on the desktop, and I can't right-click to see the properties window. Oddly enough the Start menu still works properly, and I can still open an Explorer window into my desktop and access everything. I can get around the problem by killing explorer.exe and restarting it using Task Manager, but it's annoying to have to do this over and over. Does anyone have any ideas? I took a look at startup files with msconfig and didn't see any obvious problems. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

  • TEMP environment variable occasionally set incorrectly

    Occasionally, I find my TEMP and TMP environment variables set to C:\Windows\TEMP. They should be set to %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Temp, and are configured correctly in System Properties. This manifests itself as error messages like the following: ---> System.InvalidOperationException: Unable to generate a temporary class (result=1). error CS2001: Source file 'C:\Windows\TEMP\gb_pz65v.0.cs' could not be found error CS2008: No inputs specified ...which occurs in various .NET applications (in particular Visual Studio 2010 or SQL Server Management Studio). Alternatively, SQL Server Management Studio will report: Value cannot be null. Parameter name: viewInfo (Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.SqlStudio.Explorer) If I run PowerShell elevated, then $env:TEMP is set correctly. If I run PowerShell non-elevated, then it's not. I believe that it should be set correctly in both cases. If not, it's the wrong way round. The same is true for CMD.EXE. Rebooting fixes it, temporarily, until something breaks it again. Presumably something loaded into Explorer.exe is messing with its environment variables, but what? The values in the registry are correct, even while this is happening: HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Environment has TEMP = %SYSTEMROOT%\Temp HKCU\Environment has TEMP = %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Temp By setting a breakpoint on shell32!RegenerateUserEnvironment, I'm able to trap it when it happens, but I still don't know why explorer.exe is reading the wrong environment variables. I can reproduce it consistently by broadcasting a WM_SETTINGCHANGE message (I wrote a one-line C++ program to do this). Watching the activity in Process Monitor shows that explorer.exe doesn't even look at HKCU\Environment. What is going on?

  • Where do Client-only rules execute on a single profile with multiple Outlooks open?

    I have two outlooks 2007 open on two different machines logged in to the same account. The issue is I have is with client-only rules for sound alerts executing intermittently. All other rules work correctly, because they are run on the Exchange Server, but the client-only ones seem to pick and choose when to produce sounds. Is there something I can do to make my client-only rules run reliably on one particular instance of outlook?

  • Windows 8 store freezes when searching for updates

    I'm running Windows 8 Pro (x64) on my home desktop. Everything is working well (very very differently, but well) except for the Store application. Several days ago, I got an update notification that listed 8 application updates. I hit the link to install the updates, but only six of them installed. Now I have Updates(2) showing in the store's notification area, and whenever I try to look for the updates the Store goes into "searching" mode (the circles/dots animation) and never finishes the search. Is there any way that I can reset the Store app? I have tried re-downloading it with no success.

    Is there a way to auto-rename an existing file on the receiver? For example: if filename already exists, it auto-rename filename to something like filename_001, filename_002 and so on.... So far all I have is this: $ rsync -rh --progress --stats --exclude '.thumb' \ --update --perms /origin /destination By the way, I know rsync has --ignore-existing to "skip updating files that exist on receiver", but I guess what I need would be something like --rename-existing.

  • Tcp window size won't go above 130048

    I have 2 servers set up with about 80ms latency between them. Both are centos 6 and run a java app that transfers data from on location to another. Both are on 1gbps connections. I have been trying different sysctl settings and different send & receive buffer settings in java but no matter what I set them to, I cannot get the tcp window size to go above 130048 in the tcp dumps. This equates to roughly 13mbps which is the actual throughput I am getting.

  • Use Backup Exec configuration 2010 R3 file on 2012

    I'm looking to upgrade my backup solution from Symantec Backup Exec 2010 R3 (Which i believe is the same version as 13) to Backup Exec 2012. Now, it's pretty easy to open BEutility and use the "Copy media server configuration"-function in 2010 R3, but I have not found any answers as to whether this file can be imported flawlessly into 2012 or not. It would save loads of time if it's doable. Since I HAVE TO remove the 2010 installation before installing 2012, it's not possible to just test it. I need to know before I go through with it. Anyone who's tried the same? PS: Running Windows Server Standard 2008 R2

    I downloaded Nyquist, and am having trouble playing sounds from it. If I run it normally, I get: Nyquist -- A Language for Sound Synthesis and Composition Copyright (c) 1991,1992,1995 by Roger B. Dannenberg Version 2.29 > (play (osc 60)) Saving sound file to ./eric-temp.wav error: snd_save -- could not open audio output > If I wrap it by running padsp ny, the sound plays fine for about half a second, and then I get garbage fed to my speakers.   • Excel VBA Userform Combobox problem

    I'm having difficulties with a Combobox in a userform in an Excel document. The combobox either doesn't appear in the userform, or the combobox remains blank, and when I enter any character in it, the list of items appears, but 2 or 3 times, instead of just once. When I select an item, the chosen item doesn't appear in the box. It seems as if Excel^picks one at random, and whichever item I choose from the list, it's always the same one that ends up being displayed in the box. Can anyone help me on this one? Thanks a lot!!!   • Why is ListBoxFor not selecting items, but ListBox is?

    I have the following code in my view: <%= Html.ListBoxFor(c => c.Project.Categories, new MultiSelectList(Model.Categories, "Id", "Name", new List<int> { 1, 2 }))%> <%= Html.ListBox("MultiSelectList", new MultiSelectList(Model.Categories, "Id", "Name", new List<int> { 1, 2 }))%> The only difference is that the first helper is strongly typed (ListBoxFor), and it fails to show the selected items (1,2), even though the items appear in the list, etc. The simpler ListBox is working as expected. I'm obviously missing something here. I can use the second approach, but this is really bugging me and I'd like to figure it out. Update 2 Ok, this is purely naming, for example, this works... <%= Html.ListBox("Project_Tags", new MultiSelectList(Model.Tags, "Id", "Name", Model.Project.Tags.Select(t => t.Id)))%> ...because the field name is Project_Tags, not Project.Tags, in fact, anything other than Tags or Project.Tags will work. I don't get why this would cause a problem (other than that it matches the entity name), and I'm not good enough at this to be able to dig in and find out.

    I've successfully got PartCover 2.3 working with VS 2008 on my 64-bit machine. I'm now trying to get it to work with VS 2010 and NUnit 2.5.3. I've got NUnit using the correct CLR version, but I can't get PartCover to produce any output. All I get is an "empty" report XML file: <PartCoverReport date="2010-03-30T16:09:05.1009099+01:00" /> How do I get PartCover 2.3 (or 2.2, I guess) to work with NUnit 2.5.3 on .NET 4.0?

  • PHP stream_context_set_option SSL certificate as string

    I've got a weird issue. Basically, I need to do this: $handle = stream_context_create(); stream_context_set_option($handle , 'ssl', 'local_cert', '/tmp/cert'); However. The certificate is not held as a file within the server. Rather it's an encrypted string held in a clustered database environment. So instead of the certificate being a file name pointer, its the physical content of the certificate. So instead of using the file name, I need to specify the content of the certificate instead. For example: $cert = '-----BEGIN CERTIFICATE-----.... upWbwmdMd61SjNCdtOpZcNW3YmzuT96Fr7GUPiDQ -----END CERTIFICATE-----'; Does anyone have any idea whatsoever how on earth I can do this? I'm scratching my head over this problem, but my gut instinct says it is doable. Thanks in advance everyone!

I have these js and css files included: <script src="jquery-1.3.2.min.js" type="text/javascript"></script> <script src="jquery-ui-1.7.2.custom.min.js" type="text/javascript"></script> <script src="ui.stars.js" type="text/javascript"></script> <link href="ui.stars.css" type="text/css" rel="stylesheet" /> And for my code, simply: <form> Rating: <span id="stars-cap"></span> <div id="stars-wrapper1"> <input type="radio" name="newrate" value="1" title="Very poor" /> <input type="radio" name="newrate" value="2" title="Poor" /> <input type="radio" name="newrate" value="3" title="Not that bad" /> <input type="radio" name="newrate" value="4" title="Fair" /> <input type="radio" name="newrate" value="5" title="Average" checked="checked" /> <input type="radio" name="newrate" value="6" title="Almost good" /> <input type="radio" name="newrate" value="7" title="Good" /> <input type="radio" name="newrate" value="8" title="Very good" /> <input type="radio" name="newrate" value="9" title="Excellent" /> <input type="radio" name="newrate" value="10" title="Perfect" /> </div> </form> All the files and images are in the same folder. I've never used jquery UI before, so I'm not sure if all I need is that file. I'm not sure if it needs it either, the other star rating plugin I was using didn't require it. Anyone know what I'm missing anything?
