    Generally, there are two kinds of Open/Save dialog boxes in Windows. One kind looks like Windows Explorer, with the tree on the left containing Favorites, Libraries, Computer, etc. The other kind contains a vertical toolbar, called the Places Bar. I have already implemented the download using URLDownloadToFile function, but i want to create a PROGRESS_CLASS progress bar with marquee style while the file is being downloaded, but it doesn't seems to get animated in the process.     I would like to get feedback on others' opinions of best practice for how to implement a progress bar in Python's PyGTK. The work that the progress bar was to represent was very significant computationally. Therefore, I wanted the work to be done in a separate process (thus giving the operating system the possibility to run it on a different core). I wanted to be able to start the work, and then continue to use the GUI for other tasks while waiting for the results. I have seen many people asking this question indirectly, but I have not seen any concrete expert advice. I hope that by asking this question we will see a community's combined expertise. I have read the FAQ and I hope that "Programmers" is the right place to ask.

    I am using Ubuntu 12.04 and I want to know is there a way to re-order the item in my navigation bar. In windows 7 it is possible to group elements and re-order their position. To be more specific. When I new application is started, it is added in my right navigation bar (or bottom menu for windows). Is there a way ti drag the "Chrome" icon for example, and to move it below to Firefox one? Now, if i try to drag a icon, the all icons move.

  • Extended validation certificate not changing browser bar green in Firefox

    I'm having some problems with an Extended validation certificate on a site that isn't showing the green bar correctly in Firefox. Chrome and IE are working fine. When I load the page the bar appears for a few seconds and then disappears when the page has fully loaded. Someone mentioned it could be because of loading images over HTTPS, but I'm not sure how valid this case is. We have one image on the page that is loaded from another source over HTTPS, the rest of the images are stored in the file system on the server. FYI - its Windows Server 2008 and ASP.net UPDATE: Solved this problem - the style sheet was loading in a Google Font url using http, not https - changed it and now it's working.

  • Unity Bar auto-hide behaviour and application icons placement

    The first issue: It seems that sometimes when I hover to the left edge of the screen the Unity Bar will not stay on top of other windows even if I continue to hover the cursor above it, at other times it will stay on top. Is this a normal behaviour? Or am I affected by some bug / inconsistency? If it's normal, what's the logic behind it? The second issue: Application icons for running applications do not maintain their position in the Unity Bar but instead move around according to some weird rules (if any?) that I can't understand. Is this to be expected, or is it a bug? Is there a way to force them to stop moving around? I like to see certain apps in certain positions and this bothers me.

  • UINavigationBar unresponsive after canceling a UITableView search in nav controller in tab bar in a popover

    Ok, this is an odd one and I can reproduce it with a new project easily. Here is the setup: I have a UISplitViewController. In the left side I have a UITabBarController. In this tab bar controller I have two UINavigationControllers. In the navigation controllers I have UITableViewControllers. These table views have search bars on them. Ok, what happens with this setup is that if I'm in portrait mode and bring up this view in the popover and I start a search in one of the table views and cancel it, the navigation bar becomes unresponsive. That is, the "back" button as well as the right side button cannot be clicked. If I do the exact same thing in landscape mode so we are not in a popover, this doesn't happen. The navigation bar stays responsive. So, the problem only seems to happen inside a popover. I've also noticed that if I do the search but click on an item in the search results which ends up loading something into the "detail view" of the split view and dismissing the popover, and then come back to the popover and then click the Cancel button for the search, the navigation bar is responsive. My application is a universal app and uses the same tab bar controller in the iPhone interface and it works there without this issue. As I mentioned above, I can easily reproduce this with a new project. Here are the steps if you want to try it out yourself: start new project - split view create new UITableViewController class (i named TableViewController) uncomment out the viewDidLoad method as well as the rightBarButtonItem line in viewDidLoad (so we will have an Edit button in the navigation bar) enter any values you want to return from numberOfSectioinsInTableView and numberOfRowsInSection methods open MainWindow.xib and do the following: please note that you will need to be viewing the xib in the middle "view mode" so you can expand the contents of the items drag a Tab Bar Controller into the xib to replace the Navigation Controller item drag a Navigation Controller into the xib as another item under the Tab Bar Controller delete the other two view controllers that are under the Tab Bar Controller (so, now our tab bar has just the one navigation controller on it) inside the navigation controller, drag in a Table View Controller and use it to replace the View Controller (Root View Controller) change the class of the new Table View Controller to the class created above (TableViewController for me) double-click on the Table View under the new Table View Controller to open it up (will be displayed in the tab bar inside the split view controller) drag a "Search Bar and Search Display" onto the table view save the xib run the project in simulator while in portrait mode, click on the Root List button to bring up popover notice the Edit button is clickable click in the Search box - we go into search mode click the Cancel button to exit search mode notice the Edit button no longer works So, can anyone help me figure out why this is happening?     I am using awesome-wm now, and was trying to get it working with gnome-shell. I have basically followed those steps: http://awesome.naquadah.org/wiki/Quickly_Setting_up_Awesome_with_Gnome#Ubuntu_11.10 But now I have two bars, one at the bottom and one at the top. Is there any way to get rid of one of those (preferring top bar). If that is not possible, is there a way to load the gnome-shell widgets in the top bar? I'm not linking the index.php/.. url anywhere, but for some reasons, some users arrives to the index.php url. In Google analytics, I have a lot of duplicates that are quite annoying to follow up the traffic. I've watched the Advanced filters but I'm struggling to make it works fine. Any regex and google analytics pro to help me out ?

    I've noticed that NetworkManager only has a single, left or right, click menu and no longer has an About menu option to show it's splash screen. In fact all the top bar mini short cut icons have been amputated and crippled leaving them with no rights. This severely impacts on our custom aps., similar to FireFox bookmarks, which can no longer be right clicked to bring up a context menu. It is possible to disengage FF's File|Edit|... menu bar from the top by running it in safe-mode so the menu bar is resident in a window, restoring right clicks, but our aps. do not have "safe modes". How can right clicks in menu bars be restored? reference

  • Flashing task bar(firefox) in lxde panel and ubuntu internal error

    I have upgraded from ubuntu10.04 to 12.04 and installed lxde. The panel is now customized according to my convenience. The problem is there was a default checked option for "Flash when there is any window requiring attention" in Task bar(window list) and now when I run firefox, at times the concerned bar in the panel window list starts flashing but it is not clear exactly why at that moment firefox requires my attention. Normally this happens after I download some files (pdf files) and keep using firefox. The only solution I have found is to quit firefox and even after that I receive this message "Sorry, ubuntu12.04 has experienced an internal error. If you notice further problems, try restarting the computer." As usual I report the detailed message to ubuntu as suggested and finally restart the computer. So there are two problems, first, exactly why firefox needs my attention at times and second, why immediately after this, ubuntu experiences an internal error. Please suggest what I should do.

    I recently installed Ubuntu 12.10 on my Dell Inspiron 7520. Everything is good except the hyperactive fans.The graphic cards are Intel and AMD Radeon 7730. I am trying to get away with the fan problem butI don't really know the terminal hence I am just trying to use the commands available on the forums.But this time I don't know what did I do that now I don't have the utility bar, launch bar and the basic features like the window minimize and maximize don't work. I have this impression I may have uninstalled some drivers . But still not sure what to do. Feel a need of dire help!

  • Tab Bar disappears below the bottom of the screen

    Hi, In my application I'm using a Navigation Controller to push one view that loads a Tab Bar Controller and a custom Navigation Bar as well. The problem is that the Tab Bar disappears below the bottom of the screen, and I don't know what's causing the problem. If I load a simple Tab Bar in the next view, it positions itself correctly... but what I need is a Tab Bar Controller, and in that case the Tab Bar disappears below the bottom. I have tried changing the view and size properties of the Tab Bar, but that did not solve the problem. I also realised that the images and text of the tabs don't show (I have set up the "favourites" and "contacts" images and text, and they are big enough and should be visible on the top side of the tab, but they are not). Both tabs work perfectly, by the way. There is an image here. I load the Tab Bar with the following code: - (void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; myTabBarController = [[UITabBarController alloc] init]; SettingsViewController* tab1 = [[SettingsViewController alloc] init]; AboutViewController* tab2 = [[AboutViewController alloc] init]; NSArray* controllers = [NSArray arrayWithObjects:tab1, tab2, nil]; myTabBarController.viewControllers = controllers; [self.view insertSubview:myTabBarController.view belowSubview:myNavigationBar]; } It doesn't matter if I remove the Navigation Bar or not. I don't know if the problem is in one of my NIB files or in how I load the view (although I do this as I read in the Apple's SDK documentation). Any ideas? Another question would be... do you know how could I change the title of my Navigation Bar when I select the second tab? I imagine I would have to do it in viewDidLoad in AboutViewController.m, would that be correct? Thanks for you time!

    It took me many hours to narrow down a problem in some code to this reproducible error, which seems to me like a bug in AVM2. Can anyone shed light on why this is occurring or how to fix it? When the value at index 1 is deleted and a value is subsequently set at index 0, the non-existent (undefined) value at index 1 will now show up in a foreach loop. I have only been able to produce this outcome with index 1 and 0 (not any other n and n-1). If you have multiple SMTP Virtual Servers configured on your Exchange server, make sure they are defined by a unique incoming port and that the outgoing SMTP port configuration is valid to avoid looping between local virtual servers.   • SSRS 2008 and SSAS 2008 transport error

    I am testing an upgrade to SSAS 2008 and verifying existing reports working properly. I am able to get some SSRS reports that are using SSAS as a datasource to run without any issues. They are simple and only have a single dataset. The reports that I am unable to get to work correctly against SSAS 2008 have multiple datasets and have a fitler setup with a data range setup as a parameter. As soon as I setup that filter as a parameter and deploy them the report returns a "The connection either timed out or was lost. Unable to read data from the transport connection: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host. An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host" message. The funny thing is that the report works fine when I run it locally in BIDS and it works fine once deployed if I point it to a SSAS 2005 server. Once I point it to the SSAS 2008 server it fails. I can get other reports to work fine, but not the ones with this type of a filter setup. I can see that the start and end date parameter MDX statements get run in the trace, but that is it. After those run then we receive the transport connection message. Another funny thing is that in the production environment the reports are working fine, but that has SSRS 2005 and SSAS 2008. Does this make sense? What could be causing this? I have tried setting the single transaction level on the datasource too, but that does not seem to make a difference.

  • Prevent chrome from auto-hiding bookmark bar on google search

    I am using Chrome 28.0.1500.20 beta on OSX 10.7. In this version, when you perform a google search using the address bar the bookmarks bar disappears. Toggling "always show bookmarks bar" does not restore the bookmark (see screenshot below). I want to always show the bookmark bar. In particular, I often use a bookmarklet that converts a current google search into a Google Scholar search. Is there a way to always show the bookmark bar even when performing a Google search in Chrome?
