    I am on a Macbook Pro with mac os x 10.8.2 I have set: page up: \033[5~ page down: \033[6~ in terminal keyboard settings (pressing esc to get \033). My ~/.xinputrc is: # Be 8 bit clean. set input-meta on set output-meta on set convert-meta off # Auto completion options set show-all-if-ambiguous on set completion-ignore-case on # Keybindings "\e[1~": beginning-of-line # Home key "\e[4~": end-of-line # End key "\e[5~": history-search-backward # Page Up "\e[6~": history-search-forward # Page Down "\e[3~": delete-char # Delete key "\e[5C": forward-word # Ctrl+right "\e[5D": backward-word # Ctrl+left I am just following a guide found on internet (actually there are a lot of guide really similar): http://macimproved.wordpress.com/2010/01/04/fix-page-updown-home-end-in-terminal/ Unfortunately, the only (terrific) result is that when I press page up (fn + up arrow) just a "~" is printed in the terminal.

  • Terminal Server 2003 Gaining Time when Windows 7 Client Connects

    A Windows 2003 Terminal Server keeps time perfectly until a Windows 7 Home client connects. Then it gains time at a rate of several seconds per minute. The client connects through a firewall with only the RDP port open. The client runs the same apps on the terminal server that XP clients run with no issues. Using the Microsoft Terminal Server Client application copied to the W7 computer from an XPsp3 computer gives the same results. Current workaround is to sync time every 5 minutes. Any better ideas?

  • Can't access Terminal anymore, only shows a cursor

    I run OS X. Following these directions (Installing MySQL on Mac OS X) I added a file to /usr and the contents were PATH=/usr/local/mysql/bin:$PATH Actually I was trying to get the mysql command to work now I cannot access terminal. All I get is a cursor but no command line. I also cannot find the file I created in the Finder. I used command shift G to find the folder /usr and the file is not there. Edit: I Solved the problem by restarting my computer. I am really not sure what the problem was. I got the idea because Could not open a new pseudo-tty. appeared in my terminal after following slhck directions to remove my .profile file.     I'm using vim for my editor. I've problems about the colors of vim. The same colorscheme of vim gives different outputs in terminal, ssh session and screen. I learnt they've different colors(16, 88 or 256). I don't care of using 16 color or 256 color. Also the terminal emulator is not very important to me. My questions: 1- How do I use same vim colorscheme with same output on everywhere? 2- I want to write a color definition and use it every terminal(maybe with Xdefaults file). Is it possible?

  • Start a VPN session using a Terminal script

    I use an OSX Terminal session to start a VPN connection. The command that I execute at the prompt is: /etc/netlock/cvc -c :: This works as expected. I would like to save this to a script file that I can simply double-click to start. I created a file, 'vpn.command', added the command (list above), save it, and given execute permission: chmod +x vpn.command When I double-click the file, Terminal opens a BASH shell, executes the command, then exits. Upon closer inspection, the command is now '/etc/netlock/cvc -c ::; exit;' Why is the extra '; exit;' appended to my command? BTW, is there a way to execute another command, /etc/netlock/cvc -d, when the Terminal session is being closed so I can close the VPN automatically?

    I have Ubuntu 13.10 with Xubuntu Desktop - XFCE4. I'm trying to use XDRP to allow MS Windows users to login to the machine with their own user. I've been a lot around the houses with this! I've find two half-way solutions, but can't get them to work as I'd like... 1) in /etc/xrdp/xrdp.ini I set the port to -1 [xrdp1] name=sesman-Xvnc lib=libvnc.so username=ask password=ask ip=127.0.0.1 port=-1 each time any user logs on they get a new session - they can never go back to their original session 2) in /etc/xrdp/xrdp.ini I set the port to 5912 (e.g) [xrdp1] name=sesman-Xvnc lib=libvnc.so username=ask password=ask ip=127.0.0.1 port=5912 each time any user logs on they always log on to the same session irrespective of their logon details ??) I found a mid-way solution, to create a lot of sessions by adding adding additional options in the xrdp.ini e.g. [xrdp8] name=Bob's Logon lib=libvnc.so username=ask password=ask ip=127.0.0.1 port=5913 [xrdp9] name=Jill's Logon lib=libvnc.so username=ask password=ask ip=127.0.0.1 port=5914 and so on, but he problem with this is that Jill can still log into Bob's remote session ??? Is it possible to to do what I'm trying to do? Maybe I have to use different tools?

  • How to identify process that's sending error messages to terminal?

    The following error message occasionally appears in my terminal: Failed to open VDPAU backend libvdpau_nvidia.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory ...which is pretty annoying. I have searched online for solutions to this error, without success. Is there any way to at least identify the process responsible for sending these error messages to my terminal? EDIT: Let me clarify that, as far as I can tell, these error messages appear "out of the blue". In fact, they appear asynchronously with respect to my interactions with the terminal (more often than not see them for the first time when I return to a terminal window that has been unattended for some time). I'm sure there's a definite, deterministic cause for these messages, but it is not one that I can readily identify. In short, I have not noticed any pattern or regularity to their occurrence. In particular, in my case their occurrence has nothing to do with running mplayer, or any other video playback program. (Please my earlier post about it here.) For one thing, the machine in question is a work machine, and I rarely watch any videos with it. In the very few instances in which I've watched a video on this machine I've used VLC, not mplayer, and these errors never appeared in these rare occasions that I used VLC.

    I can not run the Terminal.app after rolling back my system from time machine. Mac OS X Version 10.6.2 It displays the following error. "Your are not authorized to run this application" "The administrator has set your shell to an illegal value" After that I have deleted the file ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.Terminal.plist But the same message is displayed. I have repaired all system rights with the DiskUtility but that did not help.

    Hey. I'm trying to get MouseTerm to work with Terminal.app. I'm on Snow Leopard and followed the install instructions promptly (which are, simply, download the .dmg and run the 'Install' file). When I start Terminal.app, I still can't use the mouse (specifically in Vim, using set mouse=a). Anyone got it working?

    is there a way to let terminal services make some kind of 'abstraction' over the physical network interfaces of the server so they can be managed via gpo to grant or prohibit access for different users? the basic idea is to have 2 network interfaces (user and server/management) and not letting users within terminal sessions access the server/management network. or is this just impossible ? what would be a better way to do this ?

    We've a lot of Volume Licences left, but the License Server apparantly doesn't use them. Instead it issues Temporary Per Device CAL's. Which is a bit odd off course...   • How do I keep gnome-terminal width from changing when I use "reset"

    When I use reset in gnome-terminal (bash, Ubuntu 9.04), the window width resets, though the height does not. On my personal computer, this does not happen in xterm or konsole. On my work computer (RHEL 5 or maybe 4), this does not happen in any terminals, including gnome-terminal. I assume there is some environment variable that controls this, but my .bashrc at work is hundreds of lines long, so I'm not sure where to look in there.

Most of the time it works, but sometimes there is a long delay before the mail arrives (often when another similar script is run).     I connect to a remote machine from the local machine and use virsh console to enter the virtual machine. I don't know how to exactly depict how it works. Normally it works well, but when I run VIM: Then it can't be recovered unless I cut the connection up: It's very hard to work with a broken terminal. Any advice? My terminal works well on my local machine and the remote machine in which the virtual machine runs.
