    Dear all, I want to develop a yahoo client (core java) which connects to yahoo messenger ,checks for the authentication and login through java code. I have already used jymsg api ,but since yahoo changed its protocol after august 15,2009 i m not able to connect to yahoo server through java code.Is there any api or source available?Do i need to change the authentication method.help in this 2 resolve problem.

  • can Yahoo and Hotmail contacts api be used without leaving the site?

    I might be missing something but I'm trying to implement a contacts retrieval mechanism akin to the one that is offered by Google for Yahoo and Hotmail. Both APIs seem to require the user to actually go to their sites to log in. The documentation is really convoluted for both. I was hoping someone has done this and can point me to a simple way (if there is one) to allow the user to log in directly in my app and then for me to go and fetch their contacts for them (preferably in XML, but JSON would also do nicely). I currently have a Perl script that goes and gets the gmail stuff and works very nicely. I was (maybe wildly optimistically) hoping that Yahoo and Microsoft would have similarly useful mechanisms.

  • Can you safely rely upon Yahoo Pipes to offload ETL for your application?

    Yahoo Pipes are a very intriguing choice for sort of a poor-man's server-free ETL solution, but would it be a good idea to build an application around one or many Pipes? I've really only used them for toy things here and there, with the only thing I've used longer than a week or two being one amalgamated and filtered RSS feed that I've plugged into Google Reader (which has worked great, but if it goes out for a while I wouldn't notice). So, my question is, would building an application around Yahoo Pipes be reliable (available most of the time)? Ideally it'd be something I could rely on being up 99+% of the time. It looks like the Pipes Terms of Use permit building apps around it, but I am unfamiliar with anyone building anything significant using them.

  • Stop yahoo from opeing in second tab when opening chrome

    I recently downloaded Vuze (torrent client), which as well as installing, installs a whole bunch of rubbish toolbars (mostly by an outfit called 'Spigot') and tries to change your default search engine to Yahoo. In Safari and Firefox, ive managed to change it back but i Chrome although ive deleted all the addons and restored my default search engine when ever i open up Chrome i get two tabs 1) my default homepage and 2) yahoo search page. Any idea were i can disable this Yahoo search page, ive looked in the settings but could find any where obvious (ive set back my default search engine to Google and deleted any add ons) but this still dosnt do it.. any ideas ? My last resort is to do a factory reset of Chrome, which i dont want to do as i have all my settings in there.

    Two part question: I am having a difficulty regarding receiving my mail. I have 3 Gmail accounts & 1 Yahoo account. In Windows, I use Microsoft Outlook or Outlook Express. What email client can I use on my Mac? The second part is that my system administrator has banned accessing Gmail and Yahoo mail via their websites. Is it possible to still access it anyway?

    I have an xls sheet called Tickers (matrix 1 column 500 rows) with yahoo tickers. I want matlab to download the historical data for last 5 years for each stock ticker into a separate xls spreadsheet and save it in a given directory with title of the sheet = ticker. So that means i want a code that will create and save 500 tickers worth of data in 500 separate spreadhseets :) can anyone help or direct?

    Hello, I'm trying to use YQL's spelling and search suggestions, but as much as I try I cant find a way to change the language/region for the query, how is this done? I want to look for spelling/suggestions in spanish/mexico ("es-MX") I'm pretty happy with the results I get for queries in English, but when looking in Spanish I get no results: select * from search.suggest where query="dolor de cabeza" <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <query xmlns:yahoo="http://www.yahooapis.com/v1/base.rng" yahoo:count="0" yahoo:created="2010-11-22T17:41:13Z" yahoo:lang="en-US"> <results/> </query> I've looked around for a way to change yahoo:lang="en-US" to yahoo:lang="es-MX" but I cant find andy documentation about it.     In my website (under development), the members can send messages to each other which are sent directly to their email, now I'm worried that some members can send spam to other members (I have a spam filter but it doesn't give 100% protection as you know), I'm worried that my domain might get blacklisted on Yahoo, Gmail, Hotmail or AOL which will cause any messages sent from my domain to end up in the spam folder, this is why I want to add the domain of my website to their whitelists (if they exist). P.S. I don't want to use private messages that members check on the site and I have my reason for this. Thanks

    Hi All, We are currently working on a small IM project which pretty much works like gtalk and yahoo messenger. We came across a problem that puzzled us how gtalk/ym populate their contact lists. Given that the user has let's say more or less 500 contacts, both IMs seem to readily load the contacts pretty fast and already sorted. Here are my questions(referring to either): Does it cache its contacts, like saving it in a file somewhere upon exit so that upon log-in it readily extracts the contacts and displays it in its contact list? Does it always request for the VCARDS upon log in? OR they have a VCARD push or whatever that simply updates the contacts' profiles (like that of their status [presence push - available, busy, etc...] )?

    One common thing to want to do in the Yahoo Pipes YQL element is pass in a Pipes value to the YQL query. For example: select * from html.tostring where url='<someurl>' and xpath='//div[@id="foo"]' and you want to pass in a dynamic value for <someurl>. Let's say that it's an RSS feed item's URL called item.link. Attempting to simply replace the quoted someurl with item.link gives you this error: Invalid identifier item.link. me is the only supported identifier in this context How can I pass this value in?

    i want to search my database for example i want to search the word "google yahoo" and when i enter that i should able to look the rows which has google and yahoo. It is not required to be in the same order and google besides yahoo. No matter wherever it is in the line and give me a simple logic to it. i can able to query that thing.something like select * from table where column like("%google%yahoo%"). I want to develop this thing in php but how can i insert %.
