  • Unable to regress web application from AJAX Control Toolkit 3.0 back to 1.0

    I was recently asked to stop using the Ajax Control Toolkit 3.0 in my application and need to go back to 1.0. Luckily I only have one calendar control which I don't believe will be affected by this. I have removed the reference to the 3.0 .dll and added a reference to the 1.0 .dll.     I'm having an issue with jQuery UI Tabs script which does not pick up tabs that have a dot "." in their name (ID). And apparently the Tabs JS implementation does not do that. Although I can do it at the tab group level, I cannot do it lower down because that's implemented in the Tabs JS file and I would not want to modify it (if possible).

  • "NT AUTHORITY\ANONYMOUS LOGON" error in Windows 7 (ASP.NET & Web Service)

    I have an asp.net web app which works fine in Windows XP machine in a domain. I am porting it to a Windows 7 stand alone machine. The app uses a web service which makes a call to sql server. The web server (IIS 7.5) and SQL Server are on the same stand alone machine. I enabled Windows authentication for the website and web service. The web service uses a trusted connection connection string. The web service credentials uses System.Net.CredentialCache.DefaultCredentials. I noticed username, password and domainname are blank after the call! The webservice and web site use an application pool with identity "Network Service". I am getting an exception "NT AUTHORITY\ANONYMOUS LOGON" in the database call in the web service. I am assuming it's related to the blank credentials. I am expecting ASPNET user to be the security token to the database. Why is this not happening? (Usually this happens when sql server and web server are on two different machines in a domain, delegation & double hopping, but in my case everything is on a dev box)

The error was like; The underlying connection was closed: Could not establish trust relationship for SSL/TLS secure channel PS: When I try to connect to web service by using Internet Explorer; I see firstly some warnings about accepting an unknown certificate and I click take me to web service an I get there clearly.   • jquery: How to completely remove a dialog on close

    When an ajax operation fails, I create a new div with the errors and then show it as a dialog. When the dialog is closed I would like to completely destroy and remove the div again. How can I do this? My code looks something like this at the moment: $('<div>We failed</div>') .dialog( { title: 'Error', close: function(event, ui) { $(this).destroy().remove(); } }); When I run this the dialog box shows up correctly, but when I close it the dialog is still visible in the html (using FireBug). What am I missing here? Something I have forgotten? Update: Just noticed my code gives me an error in the firebug console. $(this).destroy is not a function Anyone able to help me out? Update: If I do just $(this).remove() instead, the item is removed from the html. But is it completely removed from the DOM? Or do I somehow need to call that destroy function first as well?

The data is in the following format: var countries = { "1A": { id: "1A", name: "Andorra" }, "2B": { id: 2B name: "Belgium" }, ..etc }; var jsonData = JSON.stringify({ data: data }); //then $ajax is called and it makes the call to the c# web service On the c# side the web service needs to unpack this data, currently it comes in as string[][] data type. How do I convert it to the format so I can refer to the properties such as .id and .name? Assuming I have a class called Sample with these properties? Thanks! I created a class to store the object, type, and loaded assembly, but something is lost in translation because it is unable to find the member I wish to invoke.   • Tracking down the cause of a web service fault running in IIS

    I have built a web service in Visual Studio 2008, and deployed it on IIS 7 running on Windows Server 2008 R2. It has been extensively tested, handles all errors gracefully and logs any uncaught errors to a file using log4net. The system normally runs perfectly, but occasionally (2 or 3 times a day) a fault occurs and screws up the application which needs an iisreset to get it working again. When the fault occurs I get some random errors that are caught by my catch-all error log, such as: Value cannot be null. Could not convert from type 'System.Boolean' to type 'System.DateTime'. Sequence contains no elements These errors are raised on every request until I manually do an iisreset, but there is no sight of them when the system is running normally. The web service is a stateless request-response application. Nothing is stored in the session. It could be load related, but I doubt it as there are only around 30 or 40 requests per minute. This is proving very tricky to track down. I can't work out what is putting IIS into this bad state, and why it needs an iisreset to get it working again. Nothing is reported in the event log. Can anyone suggest how to enable more extensive logging that might catch this fault? Also, does anyone know what might be causing the problem?

    I'm running into a problem trying to get Windows Authentication working in an environment that uses Microsoft Application Request Routing and was hoping someone might be able to help. The problem I'm running into is that only some requests are authenticated, while others fail with 401 errors. I have followed the Special Case of Running IIS 7.0 in a Web Farm instructions found at http://blogs.msdn.com/b/webtopics/archive/2009/01/19/service-principal-name-spn-checklist-for-kerberos-authentication-with-iis-7-0.aspx to no avail. My current server setup looks like the following: ARR Two servers set up with IIS shared configuration using IIS 7.5 on Windows 2008 R2 Anonymous authentication turned on for the Default Web Site Web Farm Two servers running IIS 7.5 on Windows 2008 R2 Three web sites set up using port binding to differentiate between virtual hosts. Ports being used are 8000, 8001, and 8002 Application pools for Windows Authentication all use a common domain account SPN added to domain account for http/<virthalhost-name>:<port-number> and http/<virtualhost-name>.<fully-qualified-domain>:<port-number> The IIS logs show the following when authentication is working/failing.   • Error creating System.Type from string "System.Int32"

    On a web site I published (pre-compiled) last night, I get the following error. Before pre-compiling it, I was getting a compiler error that a User Control was not found. After compiling on another machine, and running, I get the following Parser error: "Cannot create an object of type 'System.Type' from its srting representation 'System.Int32' for the 'DataType' property" was the, now runtime, parser error I got. The offending tag is telerik:RadNumericTextBox .... DataType="System.Int32"... I emphasise again that this error only occurs on XP SP2, not on Vista and Win7. I'm off to do some Googling and issue logging at Telerik.

    I have somewhat of a strange question that is not really technical, but I do hope to collect meaningful advice. I'm building a large web application, basically a photo sharing community site. As part of this site, logged-in users can go to their profile, from which they can see their own things (images, comments, votes) as well as edit their details and preferences. Users can also see profiles of others users (their images, comments, votes), but of course not edit their details. The question I have is simple but it keeps bothering me: What to call the personal links and content of a user? Should they be named "Your": Your images Your profile ... ...or "My": My images My profile ...or perhaps named, even if you're logged in: Fledder's images Fledder's profile As unimportant as it may sounds, I'm really looking for advice in this area. I'm particularly interested in any standards, why an option is preferred, and in which contexts it is preferred.

    MS Cassini Development Web Server is a nice product that executes web requests in a similar way that IIS7 does. Every request (event for static content) goes through the same .Net pipeline without exception. All custom HttpModule can handle any request. But sometimes you don't want these modules to execute for certain content (most often static content). In this regard, MS Cassini doesn't read/obey <system.webServer> web.config settings like IIS7 does. I'm particularly interested in these settings. <system.webServer> ... <handlers /> <modules /> </syste.webServer> Does UltiDev's Cassini (a separate payable product upgraded from MS Cassini) web server read these settings and execute as the web.config tells it to?

  • What web based programming environments exist, on which to learn?

    I loved appjet (the programming environment) before it was taken over by Google. What other web based complete programming environments are out there? Which one do you think is best for starting to do real world coding the fastest? I really think coding from your browser will make programming more accessible to the public. Are there any out there that use a vim style, (e.g. jsvi) in combination with free server side hosting? The last time I looked at Bespin it was a little green. Are there others?
